A gem. Not high brow, not fancy but the poke is better than most in Hawaii and the service is just first rate. Don’t listen to anyone say they are full or at capacity, they do it to avoid getting overrun. Come, drink, eat the poke bowl and enjoy being on the sand. Oh, and bring the kids, it’s very kid friendly
Made a reservation here while staying at the Waldorf Astoria. Upon arrival, there didn’t seem to be a dedicated host. One of the servers seemed stressed out as he was overloaded with multiple tasks between trying to manage tables, answer people’s questions about seating, and greeting new guests. Not sure if more staff came on at 5pm, but just after we were seated, I noted more servers on the floor. Jorge was our server for the evening and was absolutely amazing. Made great recommendations, and was very personal and friendly. And provided great service. Loved our evening experience on the deck for dining.
Great place to have lunch outdoors overlooking the beach and with the nice ocean breeze. My wife, daughter, and I shared the calamari appetizer and this Fisherman Stew (which was very delicious). My son got a cheeseburger kids meal. I got a tasty IPA that was on tap. Service from our waiter, Chris, was excellent. Next time want to try this place at sunset/night with the tables that have the "fire pits".
We're big on service , and the first time here the service was outstanding. So nice that we signed up for a 3 year memebership during covid time. Today the service has changed somewhat depending on who you get. At the pool Shaun was has to be the worse server we have ever encountered anywhere! He literally did not even look our way or say hi at the pool. He took care of everyone but us (group of 14). On one occasion I was standing up and he walked right by me practically touching me. It felt like we were invisible! We were at the pool for over 4 hours and I kid not He never said anything nothing nada!!! I can only laugh it was so bad. Obviously they are not working for tips is my only guess. If so , he missed out on a payday! We are not ones to put people on blast but today it happened! Don't let that discourage you, Johnny , Samuel and most others at pool are awesome. We signed up right before Hilton took over. Kaitlyn , Nicole , and two others in membership are great and always professional. I hope they are still around! We can text them anytime and we never know who it is we are texting because they share the same number and all 4 respond amd execute any questions , concerns we may have. There is another Shaun in the front near valet. He might be security. That Shaun is awesome 👌 first class. Very welcoming and helpful. Marissa at the front desk and also seen her at the spa desk was our first check in. And because of her is the reason we came back the following week and signed up. Super nice Marrisa! We had two large 10plus people at Beach House. Our waitress was Kirstan both times. She was excellent and did a fantastic job! Bourbon steak house service is top notch. Doesn't get better than that when it comes to service! The manager Lyle remembered us from months ago and very very welcoming that gave us a special feel! The crew works together as a team and I wasn't able to get all the names. But both occasions were excellent A+ Pools are nice at decent temperature. Cabanas can get pricey. Infinity hot tubs. Beach has umbrellas that they will set up for you. If you are going to sign up for a memebership. Look at all of them because not all memberships are equal. Can be a bit confusing. Nicole handled it well. I will be adding more reviews since our visits ha e changed and we do come often now that we have a memeberhsip. On 4/7/21 before leaving for dinner I took off blankets from bed and placed 20 dollar bill on bed hoping to have sheets changed. This was turn down service between 5:00-9:00pm When we got back you can see the quality of work this person has... not only did they not change the sheets but the bed was made like a 3rd grader would make. See photo OMG. Called service button and nobody answered just to make report. Shaun at pool ignored and I mean complete ignored our party of 14 for 4 straight hours! No exaggeration here. Not a hello. Not a look. Walked right by me as I was standing up as if I was invincible. Practically skinned me. I never experienced the worse pool service from someone before. Samuel on the other hand is a complete opposite. Infact everyone else at pool is solid. Monarch was a 5 star 6 months ago when we signed up. Just recently Hilton Waldorf bought , and I'm not sure if things are changing. But I know that when large corporations come in, it becomes too systematic and the personal attention for employees goes away which trickles down to its employees. Renovations happens before the sell, so don't expect another for a decade. Grounds and rooms nice.
Lovely. You have to stay at the hotel or be a member to come here. It is a beautiful space. Our children loved the fire tables and the menu for kids is perfect. I had the oysters with wine and it was a perfect snack. But you are not allowed to take the oysters outside you have to have them at the bar. The staff were friendly and night very special. I would recommend.
Beautiful property! With ocean and golf views! We spent a day on the privet club beach! Wich you can get by a tram, hotel service includes! You can spend all day on the beach! Concierge service will bring you chairs and umbrella on the beach! Or you can comfortably seat in a beach club which provides delicious, fresh food and drinks!
Although the prices are a bit on the higher side but, the delicious food, extremely friendly staff, and the incredible ocean view and atmosphere make this a must-visit restaurant for anyone who staying at the hotel.
The Monarch Bay Beach Club was a fantastic place to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the beautiful views. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Jaclyn was truly superb in her service! The blackened shrimp tacos were a little spicy for me, but that is not a surprise as most foods are. But they were so delicious! The other thing that impressed us was how family friendly it was. There were people of all ages, laughing and enjoying each other's company. This is a great place to gather with friends or family!
We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria however the Monarch Bay Beach Club shined-Our server Kristen was absolutely fantastic! Attentive, friendly, and truly made our experience feel special from start to finish. Manager Mado also went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect for us [unfortunately the Waldorf didn't do anything special for our celebration] The food was absolutely delicious, and we chose the Beach Club for our meals over the resort. Kristen and Mado turned our stay and experience around!
Great views and food. Staff is amazing and very friendly. The fried chicken sandwich is spicy, so recommend getting the sauces on the side if you have low spice tolerance.
We had a wonderful experience at the Monarch Beach Bay Club. We started with the calamari, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For our main dishes, the swordfish was fresh and beautifully prepared, and the bolognese was rich and delicious. The beachfront views were truly extraordinary and made the entire meal feel special. Sitting right by the ocean, with the sound of the waves and the open coastal atmosphere, really elevated the experience. Great food, an incredible setting, and an overall relaxed yet refined vibe. We will definitely be back.
By the sea. By the sea. By the beautiful sea. This private club is a haven for beach lovers. Great food. Super service. Views for miles of waves. Plus the mists of Avalon, which when clear you can see Catalina Island. 🏝
After COVID First time visited. Friday afternoon was busy. But, Sunday afternoon was good throughout finished 18 holes. Club House Cafe Foods & people was good & nice service I had.
Always a great time at Monarch Private Beach Club. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is top-notch, and everything is well taken care of. Paul is awesome and always makes the experience even better.
Food was very good. The fish is delicious and the truffle fries taste amazing. We stayed 3 nights at the Waldorf and went here for dinner every night. The views are beautiful. The most impressive thing about it is that the service is outstanding. We had two really good waitresses . There names were Alexis and Lauren. Next trip to Waldorf we will be back for more delicious food and welcoming service. Also all the dessert we got were amazing.
Eating Poke bowl while overviewing Pacific Sunset, surrounded with beautiful people. Life is good.
Beautiful place on the ocean, it is only available for dining for quests of Waldorf Astoria. The menu is phenomenal with of course Californian flare. Super fresh, cooked quickly and with great quality. The beach is available for public enjoyment.
Visited the beach club during our stay on property. Lunch on the outdoor deck was wonderful! Beautiful views, great food and friendly service. I highly recommend the crab stack appetizer, the chips with salsa and guacamole were yummy and paired perfectly with a margarita. After lunch, we made our way down to chairs and an umbrella that the beach team had set up for us, which was really relaxing. Taking in the tranquility of the ocean is always a treat! There was a little bit of a wait to have the chairs set however it was worth it and the valet was friendly and working hard to get it all done. There is a tram that takes you from the resort down to the beach club, which is really helpful. I suggested going earlier rather than later to make a day of it!
One of the best dinners I have ever had. The service, environment, and food are next to none. It was so relaxing time seemed to move by more quickly than normal. We had the pleasure of trying so many of their dishes with the party we were there with that it was impossible to pick a single favorite. Being able to walk on the beach prior to dinner and then enjoy drinks and amazing food while watching the sun set was a treat. I highly recommend coming here. Great for family, business, or a date.
This place was absolutely gorgeous from the views to the service and the selection of variety of food and delicious drinks in the menu. Definitely recommend this place. If you’re in town you should definitely stop by.
Location is the best, private beach. Plenty of options for drinks. Not a lot of options for food, but high quality.
We really enjoyed eating at the Monarch Bay Beach Club. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach for four nights and we frequented this area/restaurant. We would go to the beach club just for drinks while we soaked up the sun. We also hung out at the indoor bar a took in the beachy club atmosphere. You cannot take food and drinks onto the actual beach, but the club has a sandy area with tables, so it almost feels like you are hanging out by the water. My husband and I loved being in this area and playing games while we drank good beers. The food is really good. It doesn't quite live up to the restaurants inside the resort, but it is still excellent. You really can't beat a private restaurant on a private beach! We ordered the tuna nachos, and they were pretty good. We also got tacos which were my favorite. The lobster ravioli was delicious! It was my birthday and our honeymoon while we were there, and they brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne and a chocolate dessert! We had a great time hanging around this restaurant and the beach. We will definitely hang out here again the next time we visit the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach.
5 stars for the sunset views. 4 stars for the service. We’ve had brunch and dinner at Monarch Bay Beach Club. We love taking the trolley from the hotel down to the beach. The dinner menu could use some new options. Brunch menu is pretty solid. Both times the service was a bit slow, which is really my only complaint. Overall, a great spot to eat when you’re standing at WAMB
We came here for appetizers and drinks while staying at the Waldorf and it was awesome! The bartenders were a lot of fun and the drinks/food were great. Beautiful beach views- I would love to come back!
An exclusive beach side restaurant and club area for the club members as well as guests of Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach. A good number of seating area around the club are are available for sitting and watching the ocean and sunset. There is a shuttle that takes you from the hotel and back, but the scenic 15 to 20 minute walk from the hotel grounds is quite pleasant. The food quality and service are excellent.
Very clean, friendly staff, quiet and the food was better than expected. The ride down from the Waldorf Astoria was fast and bumpy. Wheelchair accessible ramp. Beach chair service. MEMBERS ONLY or Waldorf Astoria guests.
We made reservations the night before our anniversary to watch the sunset. This was also during Super Bowl. The restaurant brought us complimentary champagne glasses to enjoy! We started with Super Bowl Special smoked chicken wings and they were delicious! A plate with 3 sourdough rolls and butter were brought complimentary. We shared a bowl of clam chowder. I had French dip sandwich with parmesan truffle french fries. My wife had garlic grilled shrimp tacos. The tacos each had a lot of shrimp and she could only eat 2 tacos, second one she didn’t use taco shell and ate shrimp with shredded carrots that were at the bottom. The server took our picture during sunset and was very nice! We moved to the bar to watch the last quarter of the Super Bowl and our server brought me coffee. He later brought us a complimentary raspberry desert. My wife had a Moscow Mule cocktail. We took a tram to and from the Private Beach Club Restaurant. The service was attentive and friendly too! Overall we enjoyed our dining experience!!

This place is unbelievable. We couldn't stop taking pictures of the ocean and the waves, the surfers and just the beautiful sunset. Food was great as well and staff are awesome. This is a must if you visit Dana Point
A "less crowded beach resort" is what you will find here. With the Ritz Carlton on the other side of Coast Highway and Laguna/Newport Beach just down the street, this is the place that you want to stay at if you're tired of the crowds. You would think that NOT being directly on the beach would be a negative, but it is not. I found that the trolley ride through the golf course to the Beach Club was just as enjoyable as laying in the beach chairs under the umbrella and watching the waves.
The bread rolls are absolutely delicious—warm, soft, and perfectly buttery. The poke is fresh and flavorful, making it a solid choice. However, the fish tacos, while decent, didn't quite live up to the same level of excitement. The ambiance and ocean views make it a great spot for a relaxed meal, but there's room for improvement in some of the menu offerings.
Overall great place as atmosphere. Service needs major overhaul. I believe you can visit only as member of the club or guest of Waldorf Astoria. Good amount of amenities for a beach club.
We had a wonderful lunch at Monarch Bay Beach Club. The service was attentive and friendly, relaxing atmosphere with stunning views. The food was excellent. As hotel guests, we felt this was the perfect spot for brunch or lunch – ideal for soaking in the beautiful scenery and great weather.

I'll put an * as this is the second day they've been opened since Covid. I felt very ignored as tables were sat before me even though i was there first and the place was pretty much empty. The host seemed overwhelmed even before the dinner rush, which didn't seem like much of a rush, but again i know they were half staffed. The food was cooked well, but not anything special. The drinks were sub par and $19. The last time i was here was a world of difference regarding service and food. Solid, but disappointingly average.
We were here for an anniversary dinner. The views and atmosphere were great. The food was hit or miss. My husband’s food was great. I got the catch of the day, flounder. It was not seasoned, my plate was getting luke warm by the time it got to the table and the vegetables were cold.

Wish the food matched the setting. Right in front of the ocean, gorgeous views! Steak tacos came out burnt to a crisp! Fries were cold. Fish tacos were sub par. Caesar salad looked to have packaged croutons. Went there a year ago and the food was delicious, this time around we all came out disappointed!
Terrible experience due to staff negligence and poor communication. My husband and I came to this restaurant after finding it on Google Maps, excited to enjoy the ocean view. Upon arrival, we approached the hostess and asked for a table for two. We were immediately asked if we had a reservation or if we were club members. We said no to both, and they told us to wait and that they would seat us soon. We waited 50 minutes, after which we were finally seated. We started to place our order, only to be told we couldn't dine there because we were not club members. This was extremely confusing and upsetting, as we had made our status clear from the beginning. A manager was called over and told us that they do not accept payment by cash or card — only charges to room numbers — and asked us to leave the restaurant. No apology, no explanation, just a cold and disrespectful dismissal. This experience was not only frustrating but humiliating. The lack of clear communication and basic hospitality was shocking for a place that markets itself as a high-end destination. If you're not a member, do not waste your time — they won’t tell you upfront that you can’t eat here, but they’ll gladly make you wait and then kick you out.
