Symposium Restaurant & Pizza House

Their pizza crust is so good, especially when you bring home the leftovers pop them in the oven at 475 and let it get crispy. I'm drooling now. I get the Spanakotrio pizza, so delicious. Last time I went with my son, he had the lamb, I took a bite and wanted it all, it was so tender and tasty. I might get myself that plate next time.

The atmosphere and dishes are all authentic, The servers are extremely nice and very accommodating and the food is to die for though. I found some flavors that I did not expect, it was in fact very good once you got used to it

Amazing pizza. I was all prepared not to like it but it is delicious! The pita bread and dip were also good. The bread was soft and warm. Awesome. Service was great friendly and available but not annoyingly hovering

They have the best pizza omg. I love how good their staff is to their customers. Feels like a mom and pop place. Rare find in Davis. My bf likes their espressos!! He says it is a good dessert item after a heavy meal. I wouldn’t know because I don’t drink coffee hahah

Had a really nice dine-in experience here. Food was good, big portions, tasted like home cooking. Staff was very nice. It’s an old restaurant with a homey atmosphere. Some vegetarian options. The vegetarian moussaka was delicious.

I am a huge fan of the special pizzas! Danger zone when I would take one home for myself. I also remember the salads fondly and some of the appetizers, too -- such as taramosalata, yum. I sometimes get that at a Greek shop near where I live now. And I believe the french onion soup is right proper. Anyway, lovely restaurant; I will have to visit next time I'm in Davis. My mom has a history with the Symposium/Pandaleon family having worked for Contilo at Cosmopolis Cafe decades ago.

Stopped by after a kids soccer game - we got a pizza and it was outstanding- my son said that it was “the best pizza he’s ever tasted”, while that may be due to how hungry he was, I agree that the pizza is great- especially the crust, crunchy and tasty. The service was friendly- I will come back here when I visit the area next time.

I love Symposium, they have a great lunch special also. It feels like a real family place, the pizza is good, the souvlaki is great. The servers are very nice and friendly.

We had ordered a pizza to be picked up at lunch time and a medical emergency came up with my beloved dog Trixie. She had to be taken to the vet and we were unable to make the pick up before closing time. My little Trixie was unfortunately put to sleep and it was devastating. The amazing people at this establishment took it upon themselves to stay open a little later then normal, so that I was still able to pick up my pizza. As small as this may seem to others, it was very heartwarming and I truly appreciate it. Thanks so much. Jeri and Trixie Wingfield.

As always, incredible food. Hi for the Greek salad with capers, potatoes & light tangy dressing, stay for the spinach & feta pizza! AMAZING staff, super clean, following all Covid guidelines. First time even eaten inside for a year, and I'm glad it was here.

Such great food...and the pizza is the best in Davis...maybe even Sacramento area. I was surprised the first time we ate here (it was right down the street from home). We were just having our car worked on, and had some time to kill. We were lucky...we just usually get the mushroom pizza for us and the pepp pizza for the kids. Fan for life!

Went here for my mother's birthday. We came specifically for the Moussaka, which they don't generally make on Sundays. They went out of their way and made it for my mom. The food was good and we enjoyed our meal. Great customer service and I recommend the Symposium.

Great food and service. Tons of parking and outdoor space. Greek food. Yum. Also have pizza oven. Use the same super fresh ingredients on pizza. Fresh chicken, salmon, lamb, steak with Greek influence. Dress up or go casual. Locals know this haunt. Rumor has it that both Clintons and Obama have dined here while on campaign trail. Has enough capacity in seating and parking for large groups. (Interior is 1970s and the restaurant though upscale in quality is in a mini mall with Goodwill and a laundromat. Don’t be put off. I took a while to find it. You can skip that and enjoy many good meals by yourself, in a small or large group.) Hey please note Patio Open For Dining! Real silverware! June 6!

No after bite at all. We ordered their calamari.. easily some of the best we’ve ever had. The batter had great flavor and it was cooked to perfection, not chewy at all. And our waiter was really great. He was informative and knew exactly when to check on us. We will be back for an entire meal soon.

It has been about 2 months ago that I tried this pizza place for the first time. I forgot what I ordered, but I ordered 3 of their specialty pizzas. Brought them home and found all a bit undercooked to my liking. Well read on my fellow pizza lovers, as this was my day of enlightenment. What I did might shock some people, but I took a few of the pizzas and coated the underside with some olive oil, not much, and fried them in the skillet. It was like heaven opening up a new sensation that I have never experienced before. It was the best pizza that I have ever eaten. And if you like left over pizza, then you will be in ecstasy when you have this pizza the next day. Love love love this pizza. Too bad they don't open sooner but this is trifle, and besides, you cannot apease every person with every little thing.

The crusts are crisped with olive oil on the outside and light and slightly chewy on the inside. The “small” salads were very good and generously sized; two were more than three of us could eat. We sat outside on the large shaded patio. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and food arrived quickly. Great restaurant!

This is by far the best restaurant in Davis!!! The food is spectacular. My kids love the pizza. The amazing thing is that it is very affordable!! I highly recommend this place if you want to eat real Mediterranean cuisine and support a family business.

This is the ONLY truly greek restaurant that I have found in the bey area. The food is exactly how you would have it in Greece! Its not americanized...and every dish is delectable, soooo good!

However, our appetizers were up and we were served our delicious soups, the pita and tzatziki, grape leaves and salad! Definitely enough to tide us over though I so wish I could have enjoyed the rest of their tempting entres! Our server was wonderful. The small candles at our table were led and created a beautiful ambiance for our party. The server also provided additional lights to better enjoy our food. We were sad that they were loosing business but they were upbeat and professional. I'd be delighted to return any time I'm in Davis! Thanks!

Great good, I got the double lamb souvlaki, which is lamb chunks in Pita bread and a tartar-ish sauce. My dinner companion got the lamb souvlaki kebab. Very small place, cozy atmosphere and friendly, familial staff, toddler and kid friendly. Fairly casual. Walked right in and was seated promptly. Great Greek food.

Real food, which means sometimes it's a little heavy on this, skimpy on that. So what? To have real Greek food in Davis, I can put up with that. Once a year , usually in the fall or winter, we go sit down and order everything, and remember that meal for months. The New Gyro pizza is the best thing you can get on a Tuesday nite, and I think it's the crust that does it, more like buttery bread, and salty feta, thin sliced lamb, yum. Family run, and I think there may be a younger generation ready to modernize soon, but I like seeing the owners sitting in the lobby, ruling the roost.

I thought the Milo's Pizza was awesome but both my colleagues who go there more frequently thought it was over cooked. The house salad was a hit! They unfortunately ran out of both of their offerings of imported beer from Greece. It was hard to compete for the attention of the server because there was a 20 person party which spread his time (he tried to keep up).. This place is solid but it was just an off night...I will be back because the pizza is great and unique.

Niccos pizza is the best ever. I've been eating it for years and there is nothing like it. They get a 3 star because the last time the $5 dinner salad consisted of a handful of spring mix with a kalamata olive thrown on. No tomato or cucumber. Spring mix is $3.99 a box at Costco.

Prices are too high, staff is short with you and frequently not able to help you without asking another server. The menu has items on it they won't serve, like Garedes. But overall the food is excellent. The restaurant is ancient and shows it's age. The whole thing needs new carpet and a fresh coat of paint. Tables are sticky and wobbly, and the silverware isn't always clean. $75.00 for three people for dinner without drinks and they don't include bread or utensils unless you ask for takeout orders. Double-check everything before you leave as they haven't gotten my order completely right even one time. The food makes it all worth it though.

The menu price is not the same here in this page as in store they will not give you a refund for anything you order there was not one person in the store that could give a refund. Owner would not answer the phone to help. They called the cops on my brother just for asking for a refund. They made him feel like a criminal just for a refund. I will not look at this place the same I've been a customer for over 20 years and will never step inside again unless it is to make a complaint to the manager when ever he decides to show up to his restaurant. This place is going down hill maybe new manament is in place.

Nobody came to my table after 20-30 minutes of being seated, so I left. Food did smell great. P.S, I haven't seen a place with popcorn ceiling in 20 years 😄

The staff walked outside multiple times while the kids were running amuck and did nothing to stop it. The mom was constantly yelling across the patio and across multiple tables of patrons at the kids. The food was okay but it was impossible to enjoy it given the atmosphere.
