Opinions de Rooster's Roadhouse Denton
So, after a day of backroad driving my girlfriend and I found ourselves here. I had the smoked garlic jalapeno bacon cheddar burger, and she had a regular cheese burger. The flavor on my burger was great, and just the perfect size. I would definitely recommend going with the homemade chips and a side of ranch to dip them in. Now the star of the show was the bloody Mary's. The one that is pictured was just about as perfect and well rounded as you can get. My girlfriend chose to get one made by the bartender and not their build your own Bloody Mary bar and it was definitely the right choice. Kenzie was our waitress and was just the right amount of attentive.
Rooster’s Roadhouse is a great bbq and burger joint in the heart of downtown Denton. I got the chopped bbq sandwich with fries and it was just what I was craving and I didn’t even know it! I’m mad I haven’t been here sooner but don’t worry Rooster’s, I’ll be back next time I’m up there!!
Possibly the best hot chicken sandwich I've ever had. Fast and reliable servers that always have a smile. Will be back!
This is my second visit. I really love this place. From Ft Worth, you can take trains all the way, which makes it fun and convenient. Take the TRE to Victory Station, then Green Line to Trinity Mills Station, then transfer to the A Train to Denton. Rooster's is a few blocks from the Denton Station. On to the Review. Upon walking to the entrance, the smell of BBQ permeates through the air. Inside is a cute and cozy space with quirky, unique decor. We were immediately seated promptly gave our drink orders. My only complaint is the option of only 2 craft beers. I ordered the IPA. The last time I was here, I tried a burger, and it was one of the best I'd ever had. This time, I had a craving for BBQ, so I thought I'd try it. My wife had the CFS, which is what she got last time. They're that good. The BBQ is cheaper than most BBQ joints. Two meat plate is less than $10! The brisket and sausage are delicious! The Cowboy Slaw is the absolute best slaw on the planet. Reminds me of the slaw at the now closed Dagwood's Grinders. The CFS was great as well. You can get a single or double. You just can't beat the prices here. The drink specials are great as well. Had a $2.50 margarita. I highly recommend Rooster's. For those of you in Ft Worth, take the train and make an adventure out of it.
Hands down delicious food! Even delicious when you need to get it to go box and warm it up later. Friendly family, atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
This place is awesome for all generations. Highly recommend. Seniors to singles. It's great.
Always a fun place to eat when in downtowm Denton. Its faster then some of the other places. And the food is always good. Homemade potatoes chips with your meal!
LOVED the food, atmosphere, and service. Delicious BBQ, fun and energetic staff and locals, and the bar tender was very helpful and attentive. We will be back here when we visit Denton again. Fried pickles and fried jalapenos are really good! Free peanuts while you wait too :) Cant wait to try their specials. Be sure to add their Facebook page for the special dishes!
Had a great time at The Rooster! The vibe was laid-back but lively. What really made the stay stand out was our server, April. She was absolutely amazing—super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Didn't know it was a bar and brought my mom but she made us feel right in place. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests. Definitely coming back. Give that girl a raise!
First time coming here, and I have to say, I am very impressed! Charlotte, our waitress, was SPECTACULAR! By far one of my most favorite waitresses i’ve had here in Denton. She was very attentive, very patient, and even gave my roommate and I some great recommendations. We got what she said was her favorite and it came out quick and hot and was amazing! If you are ever around the square and looking for some food, definitely come here and ask for charlotte! You will not regret it at all! Bravo, roosters!
This is a great place for a good tasty meal. Their Brisket Burger is a good mix of meat and flavor, while their Pit Sandwich is a tasty mix of meats. And while their homemade potato chips they normally come with are good, their Rooster Tails are even better. All this is served in a lively atmosphere. We will definitely want to come back here.
Downtown Denton didn't disappoint. This eclectic restaurant was super fun. From the quirky deco to the free peanuts 🥜🥜 😊 just my kinda place 😁 So, the fried pickles were delicious. They nailed it. Several of us went and from what I saw, everyone's portions were huge! Chez burger was big, double meat with cheese and a fried egg, and homemade chips 🙌 5 stars 🤩
While I may be biased as I live a block away.. Roosters is a lovely establishment with a southern-comfort-meets-bbq menu 💯 Great staff! The customer service is far from any big chain, it's cozy and welcoming ☺️ I'd recommend the chili (seasonal), the loaded potato special, and always the ~$8 cheeseburger!
When you walk in, you are greeted by all of the staff. Our waitress was fantastic, she was attentive and nice. The brisket hash was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend it! The atmosphere was really cool, a fun typical roadhouse vibe that is surprisingly family friendly (So bring the kids!). Great place, great food.
A++++++++ TEXAS BBQ Hands down one of the BEST bbq restaurants I have ever been too! Everything on the menu is fabulous! I especially love the smoked turkey and fried jalapenos though. They have a great liquor/beer selection as well. This is a great place for lunch, dinner, and/or happy hour with tons of seating inside, outside, and at the bar. They also cater! The owner/manager is great. I have personally had Rooster's Roadhouse cater an event for an important client. Of course everyone loved it! If you have never been, then check it out. You won't be sorry:) BONUS: They have a wide variety of fun t-shirts & tanks for sale as well.
Was up in the area and wanted to try something new, thought it looked interesting. I am glad I came in! The service was great, the food was delicious, and the Hell sauce had good flavor and spice! Will definitely be back, loved the burger and fries jalapenos, can't wait to try more off the menu.
The food was amazing!! I got a chopped brisket sandwich and my girlfriend got the big mac which was on the specials menu today. The food was so good that me and my girlfriend barely talked the entire meal. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive, i never felt rushed or judged & the environment of the restaurant was aesthetic & comforting. As someone who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community it is not easy to go to a BBQ place and not feel judged, however Roosters Roadhouse made me feel so welcomed. Great place to dine & I can’t recommend it more!
We came to Rooster’s Roadhouse for the first time tonight. We love downtown Denton, so I can’t believe we hadn’t been to this place yet. The chips, salsa, and queso were delish! My burger and homemade chips were equally delicious. My husband’s hot chicken sandwich was soooo good! We will definitely be back.
I had the BLT with the fried egg. Best BLT I've ever had. The waitstaff was polite and efficient. The place has tons of atmosphere. Very quaint and fun. Definitely go here when you visit Denton. There is outside seating, peanuts that you can shell on the floor, and indoor seating. Would definitely go again.
Came here twice while in the area for a wedding. The Pit Sandwich is the bomb and the home made potato chips were really nice as well. The service was friendly and there are a lot of interesting trashy decorations inside the restaurant which gave it a lot of characters. If a restaurant gave me the "I wish we had this restaurant back home", it definitely deserves a 5 star rating.
Came to town to see family, pulled up bbq places on google and chose this spot. Hands down fantastic!! The atmosphere was awesome! We had 7 in our party and we were able to be seated all together. The food came out quick and was all around delicious. Highly recommend. The brisket burger with rooster tails (fried onion petals)
Great find! Got the pit sandwich, which has brisket, pulled pork, sausage in it. Also their version of fried onion ring petals. Very filling portions and great price for what you get. This is down to earth, blue collar, affordable yummy food. Highly recommended if that's what you're going for!
Amazing food and service. We had a burger and the pit sandwich. The burger was the best burger I've ever had at a sit down restaurant. Hands down. 100 percent. No comparison. The Pit Sandwhich was amazing as well. Full of flavor, not too fatty, just right. Will definitely be coming back for more food. Please stop by and check this gem out. You won't be disappointed. Well worth the trouble to find parking for this place.
Shelby was a wonderful server :) we had tamales as an appetizer. The chili on top was tasty and a fun combination with the tamale. Two meat plate with sausage and smoked turkey was delicious! Several of us don't typically like turkey and were all pleasantly surprised. There are wonderful little spicy pickles that come with it too! The fish sandwich had great breading on the fish, though the bread became a little soggy. Patty melt had a solid performance as well!
Not a local but this place makes me want be! Kailin was an awesome server and had the best attitude for any service I've ever received. Food was incredible and came out very quick. Drinks are awesome too and super cheap! A 100% must visit in the area.
So many great things to say about this place. First, brisket sandwich and their homemade chips were amazing. Our server, Grace, was ON IT! She kept our drinks coming and continually checked on us. The star of the show was Kaelyn! My daughter had put her retainer in a napkin while she ate (which you should never do). Anyway, she accidentally put that napkin on her plate with the rest of her trash and it got thrown away. She realized what she had done and I went to our server and asked if we could go thru the trash. Kaelyn saw what we were about to do and quickly put on gloves herself and in less than a minute, found the retainer. We were very lucky that the retainer was almost on top so there wasn’t much to sift thru. Anyway, both ladies were superb. We will definitely eat there again!
The food was very good, as an appetizer we got the Bottlecaps (Fried Jalapeños) and the were great, the best I've had so far. For drinks we got the Cockeyed Lemonade Cherry, The Drink with No Name, the Margherita and a Titos and Tonic. All very good. The Margherita had a bit of a floral taste, the drink with no name was Sprite with Raspberry Vodka and the Lemonade was frozen. For dinner we got the, Garlic Jalapeño bacon burger, which was good, the Pepper jack bacon burger which was pretty good and the fish sandwich which was good. The tartar sauce was rather sweet.
Rooster’s is one of those places that just gets it right. We went in for lunch and the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. We were seated almost immediately (rare in Denton at lunchtime), and our server was not only friendly but genuinely seemed happy to be there — which, let’s be real, makes all the difference. The food came out so fast I almost checked my watch to see if I’d blacked out. Hot, fresh, and exactly what you hope for when you’re starving. The vibe is classic roadhouse casual — fun, laid-back, and just loud enough to feel lively without being overwhelming. The menu hits that perfect comfort-food sweet spot, and everything we ordered had great flavor. No duds. Portions are generous, so come hungry or leave with leftovers (my advice: do both). Pros: ✨ Seated quickly ✨ Friendly, efficient staff ✨ Food comes out FAST ✨ Consistently good flavors + generous portions Cons: ⚡ You’ll leave too full and debating an afternoon nap ⚡ Parking can be chaotic during peak hours Final verdict: Rooster’s is a Denton staple for a reason. It’s quick, it’s tasty, and it always feels like you’re getting more than you paid for. One of the few spots that manages to be “fast casual” without ever feeling sloppy. Highly recommend for lunch, dinner, or whenever you want a meal that doesn’t disappoint.
Love everything about this place. From the outdoor seating both in the front and back, to the spacious interior. Plenty of seating at that bar as well. I usually get the Bacon Cheese Fries, Deep Fried Pickles and the Pulled Pork Nachos. Their new drink, the Western Bluebonnet, is so good. Love their drink specials during the week as well.
The employee who seated me was extremely courteous, and my waiter was kind and attentive. I ate the smoked tenderloin cheesesteak sandwich with the house chips plus an order of the rooster tails. Everything was great. They have good deals on boozy drinks on the weekend, which was awesome. No regrets.
Roosters is a great spot to go eat on the weekends here in Denton. They have many options of American food at a surprisingly good cost considering they are right next to the square. I ordered the patty melt that came with 9 grain bread, 1000 Island, bacon jam, caramelized onions, American cheese, and provolone cheese.
Everything we ordered was at least above "good".\nThe pb&j shot was very good.\nThe fried jalepenos, onions, and pickles were perfect!!! Breading light and crispy.\nWill be back!!!!!
Service was great. Came in for a salad (there are not a lot of places in the area with salad offerings). Food was good.\n\nTried the breakfast shot which I'd never heard of- butterscotch schnapps, pi…

Phenomenal BBQ at a great price. Not a "Traditional" BBQ type restaurant, but their pulled pork sandwich is unbelievable (especially with the pickled onions - which I can't believe I loved). Also t…
This place was amazing and I would be there all the time if I lived there. Something for everyone and the food was crazy good. Great prices.

UPDATE: I ended up chatting with the manager by chance while eating at Tex Tapas. I asked him if Roosters was still run by the same people, and he replied yes - him. He seemed concerned, so I mentioned the problems from my first review. He apologized and offered to make it right. Tex Tapas was great as always that night (and I'll review them shortly to counterbalance this one). Since they share mgmt, I'm led to believe an employee at Roosters screwed up my order. I've increased the review to 4 stars, and will add the extra star after I revisit Roosters. *********************************************** ORIGINAL REVIEW: WTH is this, Roosters?? I guess all good things come to an end. I guess you guys are cutting costs now at our expense. This meal used to be great and massive, now it is half the size. Either you guys are "cutting costs", or your kitchen staff needs retraining. Either way, peace out...I'll stick with Brisket Burger from now on. I hope whatever you're saving is worth losing six-year customers. Best of luck...enjoy your new boat.
We got a seat outside as it was drizzling and the weather was very nice and warm. We couldn't get the parking easily as there was a drone show at the Denton times square, we roamed around for 10mins and finally got parking at the free parking slots. We ordered two Miller Light and a couple of cocktails. For cocktails we requested a specific recipe, the bartender still managed to prepare one with the ingredients he has. Overall the drinks were fine. We ordered a chicken sandwich with fries, Rooster Tails ( beer battered onions with cockeyed sauce) and Queso with Salsa and chips. Salsa was not great but the cockeyed sauce was really good. The food was hot, crisp and perfect for the weather. It was still drizzling when we left but overall we liked the place and the food.
Food was good and service was quick. Clean and good atmosphere. My only issue was that that didn't have the hell burger available and won't for a while as they cannot get the ghost pepper sauce. That was the reason we originally went in so needless to say we were slightly disappointed.
So this is our appetizer and it was the nacho pulled pork. Delicious and the main meal was great as well. I had the brisket sandwich. I love hole in the wall places. We are trying to explore Denton more. It would be a 5 star if our waitress wasn't in a bad mood. I don't know what it was didn't look at my husband is hen he was ordering stand offish. She was nice but didn't give us the attention like we should have so the top wasn't good and dropped the rating down one. We will go back. Give it another chance to give it a 5 star Review. Food was great, give it a chance!!!!
I like to “go local” whenever I can; and I had a taste for BBQ this time. While the picture is not as appealing, the flavor was. The chips had a good crunch (that’s how I like my chips) without being too salty. When the outside temperature is cold, I always ask for less ice in my drinks. “Less” is relative, but they got it right—a little detail that I appreciate. They were also detailed in getting clarity while taking my phone order, since I was too general in my drink order—which is another thing I appreciate that prevents getting orders wrong. Lastly, they were open to 10pm on a Sunday during the 2020 pandemic (when others close between 8pm and 9pm). This was a blessing (for me at least) since I got into town late; but thankfully and enjoyably, this all worked out.
Place is different, quirky. I don't like QRC scan menus. I don't carry a phone into dinner normally, for good reasons. Waitress was rude and assumed we knew everything about the place, like that. Food was good, especially the King sandwich. Ruben needs sauce or something savory on it. Coconut pudding thing is delicious, but not pie. Didn't care for the cold fries & the $2.49 up charge for them, instead of chips. $1 for a tiny cup of sauce for my fries, instead of ketchup. All things the waitress didn't mention... We'd go back, but I'll order something different than the Ruben. Parking was just on the street.
Roosters Roadhouse in Denton has a fun, quirky vibe that immediately makes it feel laid back and casual. The ambience is unique but still comfortable, and the service was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. I ordered the one meat plate with brisket, and unfortunately the brisket was dry. The fries, however, were solid and enjoyable. The toast was overcooked and pretty hard, which was disappointing. Dessert didn’t really redeem things. We tried the apple wontons, which came out hot but were underwhelming and the chocolate chip pie turned out to be more like a chocolate chip muffin and was pretty blah. Overall, the service really stood out in a positive way, and the atmosphere is fun, but the food quality was inconsistent. I’d consider giving it another shot based on the service alone, hoping for a better experience next time.
Sammie and I ate on the back patio. I wasn't sure about the dog friendly aspect so I popped my head in and the bartender said she's welcome out there but can't come inside. Our waiter came out quickly with a bowl of water, which I thought was nice right off the bat. We had the Tennessee Texas hot sandwich, Rooster Tails, and a couple slices of brisket for Sammie. Draft beer was ice cold, with ice floating in it. Yummy! Food was good, especially the sauce that came with the Rooster Tails (think onion rings and bloomin onion had a baby lol). Service was fantastic. I was concerned it might be slow, being outside, but he was very regular and attentive.
We really enjoy their grilled cheese burger and homemade chips from here. We tried the banana pudding while we were there and it wasn’t anything super special but was still yummy. We enjoy coming here as we drive through town. Downside is parking can be tricky. We have had their smoked turkey and a salad on a previous visit and both were yummy. We have a lot had their PB&J shot and it was delicious. They used jelly in the actual shot. I would avoid getting water to drink as it doesn’t always taste the best.
Food is a hit or miss each time I go. Last time the fried pickles were over done and just didn't taste good. This time they were cooked right. Burger was good and cooked the way I asked. The cost is more than what its worth though. And be prepared to pay extra to sub out chips for french frys. I paid $3 a plate to change to fries, that was a disappoint.
Our food was amazing. Service left a lot to be desired but shout out to the sweet woman that pre-bussed and bussed our table. She was on it!! Food was excellent!! You would have a hard time messing up your order if you picked any of the burgers. Decor and the vibe was great and we were able to dine in with kids.
Service was great! Always love to food and inviting atmosphere. Second visit, will be back!

Took my wife and granddaughter on Sunday morning. We were almost the first ones there. Got waited on and ordered a couple of appetizer and our meals at the same time. The place started to get a lit…
Food was fair at best. burgers at RG's is much better. The rooster tails (fried onions) tasted like the grease they were fried in was old. We won't go back.
I wish they had either pork or beef ribs. The king brisket sandwich was a little dry. Seems like a little bit more of bar food than an actual barbecue place.
I wanted this to be a five-star review but like so many restaurants these days, a shortage of waitstaff leads to long waits while looking at empty tables. Hostess was frustrated with her constrai…
Best burger and fries ever. Best to sit away from the bar if you want to converse. Plenty of seating away from the bar.

Service and atmosphere were great but the food was not so great. I had the steak fingers. I would not order again.
Walked in was seated right away. Came after the lunch rush on a Friday around 1. Got a half of an order of fries, they took along time to come out and were lukewarm at best. The rest of the meal was decent. Husband asked for extra mayo on his Philly as you can see from the picture they did not put extra mayo on his Philly. However my husband requested mayo again and it was promptly brought to him. Not sure if we will go back again though.
Hated it! Had to download the menu we eventually figured out, took 15 minutes or so before drink orders were taken, refills were not offered until my husband got up to look for where to do it ourselves. Poor service makes the whole experience stink.
Where I was a fan of the food, i was however not a fan of the service. All me and my wife saw were a bunch of kids standing around in roosters T-shirts talking about the randoms. We got there at 3:15, and left at 4:08. Can honestly say, we definitely won't be back as often as we used to be. Service has gone downhill since we started letting kids do the jobs of adults.
Unfortunately our food was less than spectacular. In the past it has been great. Brisket was tough. Chicken fried steak was tough and the breading was hard and fell off.
Typical bar joint w cheap food, huge portions. The lady busser was not using sanitizer table to table, just a damp washcloth. Not a filthy place but not clean. The meats were very good quality. Service was good with a knowledgeable server about the menu. Homemade sauces were good. I can see the attraction. Bread was toasted perfectly. The kitchen knows what they're doing for sure. It was busy Fri at 8pm, 08-07.
All the food tasted like it was pre-packaged and microwaved when ordered. The pulled pork was bland and flavorless, as was the brisket. Also ordered the fried pickles which tasted luke they were just thrown in some premade, prepackaged breading that was also bland a flavorless. Wouldnt go back to eat there. Staff was friendly, super attentive, and the atmosphere was inviting.
Cool atmosphere. Great service. Food? Mine was decent. I had the smoked turkey plate, and although it left more to be desired, my husband’s Smoked Meatloaf Sliders were a hit. The Mac and Cheese is Kraft, so be prepared (they did ask me for certainty). The drink specials were good, and truthfully the pricepoint was greatness. I’d return for the Breakfast Shots alone.
Enjoy a bacon shot and a great burger. We went during a local event and the service was still prompt.
Three of us ordered LEAN sliced barbecue sandwiches. One sandwich was so full of fat and gristle that it was an edible . We did ask for a new sandwich and was provided a much better lean sandwic…
Food is ok, nothing to be proud abouts brisket is a bit dry. Service was poor, didn't listen, and then didn't want to change the order.

I used to enjoy Roosters and I’m not sure what happened as I haven’t been there in a few years and decided to make the 20 mile drive to check out what they called the “Big Ass” stuffed baked potato. I have had plenty of barbecue brisket stuffed baked potatoes, and this one by far wins the prize for being the weakest of them all, and it’s far from earning the title of “Big Ass”. Food trucks have served better. Is there even any bbq sauce to be seen? A meager amount of brisket on the baked potato. The baked potato was nothing to write home about itself, and the rest of the ingredients were not at all worthy of the $13 price tag I believe it was. The cheese looks like it is straight out of a bag. Look at the picture of this “Big Ass” bbq brisket stuffed baked potato and then go checkout my review of Tender Smokehouses version for the same price. Would you pay even $10 for what’s shown in that picture? I fell for their Facebook marketing, made the drive to try it out, and won’t be back.
Horrible experience and not family friendly or with bigger Group . Manager was a complete disaster. Told our family and friend Group of 30 + to go somewhere else . The place was empty

The food was great, love eating here. But this last time the waitress we had was very rude and rushing. It wasn’t even close to closing time. She literally snatched my plate of food off the table while I was still chewing my food and wanting to eat the rest. She also kept coming back and saying. “Ready?” “Ready yet?” This made me not wanna come back.
Worst experience ever, waited 2 hours and we never received our food. Ended up just leaving. The waitress just told us she understood why were leaving. Tables around us ordered at the same time we did and got their food order. Never coming back.
All I have to say is this place isn't for colored folks, if you're not light skinned they will not serve you... waited for 2 hrs ordered and our food never came out, but the other ppl that had ordered after us, their food came out on time... we decided to leave and when leaving we informed the waitress and she said she understood. Never coming back here. And whats worst they sat us in the back patio outside... they had other "folks" out there as well and they moved them as soon as tables were available inside and mind you they were sat after us as well. Never Ever coming back here. If I could this place would get 0 stars 👎👎
Sad when you are led to a place by reviews and then on your first visit catch them stealing. Funny thing is I was going to tip more than the kept amount of change. Do Better, No Excuses only Solutions.
I got the 2-meat pit basket, this is half the meat they brought out. For $16, comes with 1 side. It's practically a kids meal. So your think it's delicious or something to make up for it right? No. It's alright. Not bad, but not great, goodish at best. And the sides aren't particularly better. It's very very mediocre. I'd go to juicy pig instead Oh, at least the waitress was very sweet and patient
I hate to do this since I’ve been coming to Roosters for almost 20 years, but this was beyond ridiculous. I ordered my food about 15 minutes before close (not knowing they changed their hours to closing at 9pm) and the bartender said it wouldn’t be a problem. All of the wait staff had also ordered food late and I watched their food come out. At around 9:20pm the bartender informed me that the kitchen had not started my order. She offered to give me a gift card but this put a bad taste in my mouth for the long term. How the mighty have fallen. This place was once an awesome local joint that was super reliable but this has ended how I feel about them. Goodbye forever.
I had gotten a to go order when I got home there was hair in my fried pickles I called right away and was told to stop by when I could and they would either give me a gift card or a new order. When I called back two days later the waitress wasn’t familiar with what I was offered and said she would call back. Never heard back from them so when I had time I called back again and I was going to pick them up. But I had just had surgery so would be able to walk in restaurant so I asked if they could run them out to my car they said no. So I said I’ll come back when I can walk in. I just went there to get the fried pickles and the refused to honor their word. Such poor customer service. I’m adding a picture of the friend pickles with black hair I have strawberry blonde hair so not mine. I also have a time stamp on my picture and time stamp on receipt. I had called right away. When offered a new order I was told to come when I can. I was already home and didn’t want to drive back. the manager who refused to keep the word of this business.
By far the worst bbq spot I’ve been to. The sausage tastes akin to a hot dog— flavorless and begging for seasoning. The brisket was so dry, I was sure I was touching snake skin with my tongue (also, see how plastic was still left on our meat). Surprisingly, the turkey was juicy but also lacked in flavor. What saved the meal were the fried pickles. Our server was great but I can’t emphasize enough how much to not come here despite the good reviews. Several of the guests left with stomachaches.
