Skyline Restaurant

Visted here for dinner on good Friday. We had made a booking but it wasn't busy, and we were quickly shown to our table by Andy. We both choose the beer battered fish and sticky toffee pudding. The fish came in great time and was beautifully presented, it also tasted incredible. The batter was so crispy, the chunky chips were huge and roasting hot, and the fish was so flaky. We quickly devoured every last bit. We were asked if we wanted a little break before the puddings came out , which was a nice touch. Hot sticky sponge with a hot toffee pouring sauce and vanilla ice cream. Can not fault it at all!! Service was brilliant, andy, we believe his name was, made us laugh and was really quick at clearing the plates and bringing our drinks. He chatted a wee bit to us and offered us a seat in the bar ( comfier chairs and couches ) once we had finished our meal. Overall a great night, and we most definitely will be back. Thank you!

I was treated to lunch here by my daughter and son in law and loved it. I made a good choice with Mongolian Prawns to start, they were delicious. Son in law loved the Pakora then had the Chicken Cordon Blue. It looked amazing. My wife, daughter and I had the Roast Beef. It was superb. My Grandson had the Chicken Goujons and he loved them too. His little brother had macaroni cheese. We were all full but managed desserts. Ice Cream, Meringue and Chocolate Brownies. Cruzcampo was had too. Everything was first class but a special mention for Stephen (not sure about the spelling) As a host he was terrific and went above and beyond with service and entertainment and to top everything we got a quick look inside the stadium. The menu changes regularly so it won't be too long till we're back again at this fantastic restaurant. Honestly 10 out of 10.

Great food, friendly staff, not everyday price but great experience

Saturday night pre concert meal, with last minute addition of family, Stevie and his team made the meal entertaining as well as delicious food from the kitchen. Would I go back , well that's 100% certainty. Thank you to all the front of house for the service and kitchen team for the superb fare.

This was an amazing dining experience. The food was superb and the service exemplary. Can highly recommend the Hake and Spaghetti dishes plus the desserts was to die for. Stephen, Issei, Patrick and Neave went out of their way to ensure we had a fabulous time. So as a recommendation, add The Skyline Restaurant to your list of places to eat when in Edinburgh. Thanks Guys, we are so coming back when next in town!!!

Delicious evening meal. Food & drink is fab, great flavours and beautifully presented- and at a very reasonable price! Really cool location and a great view over the city. Service is second to none, with everyone going out their way to make me feel welcome and help out where needed. Lovely atmosphere for a relaxing evening out. Pity I don’t live closer, so I could eat here more often with my whole family.

I took my sister in law and brother in law who are 90 and 94 they had fish and chips and really enjoyed it.i had the chicken that was so tasty my husband had fish and chips we had starters and pudding everything was amazing. Food 10 out off 10 and the service from Stevie was amazing thank you stevie for a great day 😀

There was a party of 9 of us last nite food was beautiful atmosphere great the staff so helpful we all had a great time we wld all come back .

Myself and 2 friends went last night and tried the new Christmas menu. Everything about it was fab!! Excellent service, delicious food and lovely surroundings. I would definitely like to come back 😍

We ate at the Skyline Restaurant multiple times during our stay at the Tynecastle Park Hotel. Their breakfast was absolutely delicious - My husband had the Traditional Breakfast and I the Eggs Benedict. I would highly recommend both. For dinner, we came on a Sunday so had the chance to try their delicious Roast Beef. Their Butterscotch Pudding is also INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. Can't wait to come back on our next trip to Edinburgh.

Top-notch all around! Visiting from Canada staying at the hotel. Dinner was amazing at The Skyline Restaurant. The staff were all incredibly attentive and welcoming. Service was on point without feeling rushed. For dinner, I started with the Chicken and chorizo terrine, with the fish and chips for main, and salted caramel cheesecake as my dessert. Highly recommend for a wonderful dining experience!

Excellent lunch, staff were absolutely superb: reserved yet extremely attentive and ultra polite. Food was beautifully presented, served nice and hot, and tasted delicious. My wife and I ate here with friends this afternoon and had a lovely time! Food was excellent and extremely well presented. Staff were very helpful and explained each of the main courses in great detail which helped us make our choices! Couldn't fault anything and will definitely be back! If you haven't been here yet strongly recommend that you give it a try!!

Fantastic dining experience all round, wait staff very friendly and served in a timely manner. Food was surprisingly tasty and varied even after looking over reviews. Would certainly dine again and suggest a trip for any tourists or locals looking for a more relaxed approach to fine dining.

Booked a table for 19 including 4 children undet 10 to celebrate with family my 70th. The table location was perfectly located at the end of the restaurant adjacent to the bar. The Skyline waitresses and Head Waiter went above and beyond providing excellent service both with drinks and food. The food was delicious and well presented and everyone commented how much they enjoyed it. Thank you to the Skyline team for making my birthday celebration memorable. Well done.

We celebrated our son's 33rd birthday in the Skyline restaurant yesterday. He lives in Budapest and we were looking for something a bit special and different to go. What an excellent choice. Very good food, nicely presented by lovely staff who couldn't do enough for us. What a pleasure. Well done Hearts - that's a winning formula.

Dinner was absolutely fabulous. Represented great value for what it is. Our server Neve was wonderful and a credit to the company.

Absolutely outstanding restaurant at the top of the new stand at Tynecastle with views facing out towards the city centre. Service was top class, from the gentleman on the main door overseeing the guest check in process to the staff on the floor of the restaurant who were so helpful, polite and courteous. The menu is varied enough to allow you to find something for everyone - and every dish was very well presented plus tasted incredible. We'll definitely be back. Recently attended for lunch. Super menu and staff were very helpful. Lovely warm atmosphere, we wanted to access the memorial garden and staff were very helpful in taking us round. The volunteers in the museum were extremely compassionate. It's well worth a visit.

We had been once before and enjoyed it, so had returned for another of our 5-a-year family birthday lunches. Excellent and friendly service We made life awkward by ordering from 3 different ares of the menus rather than just a 2 or 3 course meal, but that was no problem All enjoyed their own food and the tastes of everyone elses (The family is used to sharing although the grandchild sometimes thinks it should only be one-way i.e. towards her!!) The famous mis-quote from the Terminator film applies. 5 adults - £240

Attended yesterday with my husband and our son and his partner. We were celebrating my husband's 70th birthday. Staff extremely efficient and friendly. I wondered how special a meal would be at a football stadium???....but it was fantastic!!! Food was excellent.Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Cocktails really good. I'd definitely recommend going!!!

A pleasant venue with very attentive and efficient staff. Cannot fault the service at all. The standard of food varied between the dishes - for example, the chicken roulade was very dry whereas the lamb was tender and delicious. They have a great cocktail menu and wine list, and the prices overall (for both food and drink) are quite fair & reasonable. The view is a bit of a disappointment for a venue called "Skyline" - in the evening you can't see anything at all (no perspective over the city lights or anything like that), and during the day all you see are the tops of tenement buildings. I couldn't see any other city landmarks, but that may have been partly due to the location of our table. I would return here in future but probably only with a large group, as the resturant seems particularly well set-up for bigger tables and larger groups of people.

20 people for my husbands 80th birthday party on a Thursday night. When arriving would have been nice to have taken everyones coat. Not all arrived the same time so made our way to the lounge. No one came up to say our table was ready. Everyone leaves there coats lying on sofa's in the lounge after asking if our table was ready. I had fish and chips which i found the batter too greasy. All the other guests enjoyed there meal and the waitresses were pleasant and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed the night.

mostly positive experience for a family celebration was marred by a significant issue with the children's main courses and poor handling of the situation at the end. While the starters were prompt and the desserts and cake were lovely, the children's main meals were forgotten and arrived long after the adults had finished. The manager's dismissive and frosty response when the bill was being settled created a very poor final impression, despite the initial warm service.

Excellent service and good value for money. Very disappointed that turkey was off the menu (kind of standard for a Christmas meal). I had fish instead, which was a bit greasy. Others in my group enjoyed their mains and all starters were good.

Had high expectations based on reviews but felt disappointed in our experience. There were service issues - we had to wait for someone to greet us and had to wait a long time for our food order to be taken, the table next to us arrived at the same time as us and received their starter when our food order was taken. I think we were forgotten. The drinks waitress seemed a bit grumpy and abrupt initially when she took our order and a second round of drinks took a long time to arrive. The food was fine but the portions were small and I left hungry despite having 3 courses. I saw some plates of the fish and chips for other tables and they looked huge but my braised beef main was not value for money. Puddings were the highlight of the meal.

Was really disappointed after reading other reviews. The calamari from chef's corner were bought in/mass produced and lacking flavour, which was not how it was sold on the menu. The pasta dish with a parmesan crisp came with parmesan shavings instead and the lamb burger was very dry and had no sauce. Service, however, was great we had no issues with this.

We went here on Fri evening as a 50th present meal from my fiancée. We had last been 4 yrs ago and had a great meal and enjoyable evening. This time however was very different, we arrived ten mins before our table time and where seated fine, we where then asked if we knew what drinks we wanted, but hadn't had a chance to looks at menu yet, waitress rolled her eyes and wandered off, she came back about 5 mins later and we had decided on the steak and wine for our meal, she disappeared and dumped our wine on the table and left. We hadn't been asked about the food, ie what steak, sides and sauces etc, 30 mins later after seeing other people in and ordering their food we where still waiting , eventually after us getting her attention again we ordered our food....a few tables who came in 15 mins after us now had their starters, we eventually got our meal after an hour and ten mins after sitting down, wine was nearly gone . The food was mediocre and the ribeye steak was very fatty . The maitradie was apologetic eventually after claiming we hadn't been in there that long as he thought the waitress had taken our order. They gave us the meal for half price for the issues but it had spoiled the evening for us unfortunately.

Meal was good, I had a Highland game terrine and Chestnut mushroom tagliatelle. My friend had the Burger which was kind of meatball Burger, not good. The service was not good, we ordered water and did not get any, waiter did not take menu's away nor the extra cutlery. Lot of things disappointing. Very bright light, could bet nice to have more cozy atmosphere.

Have been to the Skyline previously and loved it hence our return. Sadly not a great experience food wise yesterday. One of our party is coeliac so I checked the lunch time menu to find nearly all dishes contained gluten, so I called ahead and was assured that dishes could be made gluten free. On attending the restaurant we were given the same menu, so my guest asked if she could have the pasta dish with gluten free pasta. On checking with the kitchen there was no gluten free pasta. We were given the option of a burger with no bun or a pie with no pastry, or the fish could be grilled. Sadly once again having an allergy appears to mean you basically have no choice. I am disappointed that there was no adjustments to the menu, it was really a removal of items you could not have with no offer of anything to replace. My guest had the pie with no pastry, essentially the meat filling which looked and tasted poor and was not eaten. The bill was adjusted accordingly but not a great experience.
