The Capital Grille - San José

Capital Grill has an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.The service was excellent and the food incredible. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This is one of the best restaurants in Costa Rica. You always get excellent service and the quality of the food is very consistent. I can say that I have never had a bad experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about dining at Capital Grille on our last night of vacation in Costa Rica. Server Alfredo was superb and provided exceptional service. Wine, food, and ambience were all perfect.

Food is amazing! Service very personalized and friendly, definitively my favorites are: Fried Shrimp, Tuna Tartar, Rib Eye Porcini and the Truffle fries, that are addictive! And to end the Espresso Chocolate cake, which was great with the red wine I had. Very detailed table for my Mom´s Birthday, a hand writting card that really liked her and made a special moment.

Outstanding service, probably the best in Costa Rica. Food extremely good too.... Not more to say. Only my Brussel sprouts were much to black...and the steaks need a little bit more rest after it's coming from the grill... I am a master chef and I know what is good food and service. The only little thing is the portions are much to big. Offer not only 20 oz end up, give the customers the choice. Maybe cut the meat in front of the customer, put it on a scale... Just my opinion. I dont want to take home half of my 90 Dollar steak and warm it up. Please don't use plastic containers to take out, don't forget where we are... Thanks for a ingreible meal...

Great ambience, couldn't get any better. Our bartender was great (can't remember her name!). She was very attentive and knows how to make our fav drinks. Coming back to celebrate our wedding anniversary soon 👌

Solidly good meal in San Jose. This is the same dining experience you can expect at a Capital Grille in Boston, but the service was better. Dinner and drinks for 3 was like $350 with tip. I forgot to take pictures of the food but it was spectacular. My wife had the filet and I had the ribeye. Capital Grille never disappoints, no matter where you are.

Excellent service, food and ambiance. There is no drop off from the U.S. locations and I'll say it might be a little better. We will most definitely be back soon for another dinner.

It was a great experience the stakes there were very good nice and tender the best meat I've ever had in Costa Rica I couldn't believe it it was great but very expensive I had the New York strip and I had two drinks it was just a little bit over $100 but it was a great restaurant very beautiful

An absolute GEM! The best place to dine for lunch or dinner. Every dish is better than the next and I don’t eat red meat or pork! I come back every time I am in San Jose!

It was wonderful. The Facility, Food and Ambience was second to none. As good as any Capital Grille in the US. The staff was very friendly and an added bonus to American Tourists, they all speak English.

Food was amazing, the meat was literally like butter. The coconut desert was amazing as well as the grape mojito. I really loved this place.

It is expensive since it is fine dining, but the lamb chop with asparagus was delicious.

Beautiful place! Attentive wait staff, clean! Food was very good but pricey as it is in the states! Had mushroom bisque and shrimp and risotto. So much food but on the executive lunch menu so only $25 US dollars. Very nice experience!

We had a great time at Capital Grille, enjoying from the entree to the main course, everything of great quality and taste. The wine options are very good too. Do consider that it's very expensive to eat here, but it's worth it if you can ignore that.

Food and drinks were lovely but the prices are outrageous. You get great service and meals but even so the prices are above that

First off, the service and attention was excellent. The reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because of the pricing. Although the taste was very good, the price per plate for what we ordered was expensive. The meat we ordered was of good quality but is not as good as Factory Steak & Lobster. I tend to dine alot and so far Factory is among the best rest in the country. Literally, I paid twice the amount for an almost identical meal. Just to give an idea of how pricey it is at Grille I can tell you that when I travel to Miami I usually like to dine at Smith & Wollensky and I still pay a lot less than Grille. So be ready to pay $$$.

The restaurant is beautiful . The food is amazing . The service is five stars . But there is a problem . For us women , when you ask where to put your purse , they don't have hangers . It is very uncomfortable to eat with your your purse on your lap . That is my only complaint.

I won’t recommend it! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful place with excellent service and lovely food, but it looks like it’s targeting tourists with deep pockets! I order the ribeye with salad side. Both were great, but the prices were extremely high, and even though everything was fine, it wasn’t worth the hefty price tag

I’m a big fan of capital grill, I’ve been to at least 20 different locations. This one is actually a bit more expensive than the others, though the quality is not near the same. I’ve been to this one twice and twice have they overcooked one of our steaks and then offer a dessert for the inconvience. This time they blamed it on the steak, said because it was dry aged they couldn’t cook medium rare. Huh? I’ve eaten 50+ dry aged steaks in my life and most if not all were cooked to a perfect medium rare. This steak was medium well most of the way through but rare in the very center (half inch center) They took it back and tried again with another steak and now the steak was medium well again but the center was thicker (1inch center) and still rare. Obviously they have the grill too hot as it’s cooking the edges too fast. I came here to eat steak, its the main event. If it comes out cooked wrong then it ruins the meal as now I’m waiting drinking my wine while my partner is enjoying their meal. Don’t offer a free dessert, you messed up the steak, offer a steak.

Very fine dining indeed. However it is very very expensive. Great service, Great wine list, but feels like they are trying to retired on you. Too expensive

Anybody giving this a high rating obvs hasn’t been to a first world Capital Grille. The food is barely edible other than the ceviche which is ok and the drinks and desserts are good. The thick cut bacon is a slab of fat and the famous 22 oz bone in rib eye is hard to even cut it’s so tough. Not the quality you expect from this brand at higher than regular US prices. Service is friendly but uneducated. They don’t even know what Chicago style is or how to cook it for instance. Won’t be going back.

We had dinner last night, the service was good! However, the food was extremely salty and they were not wine savvy.

At first sights seems to be an outstanding restaurant, however once we are in the restaurant the reality is other! Expecting same level as USA restaurant from the same chain, but it isn't.. Low qualification for service, food, and discipline. The drie aged meet is far from to be a dry aged, it seems a dry aged home made. Same price as in USA Cons: video camera everywhere, even in the dinning room, ignoring the privacy of the customer, breaking some basic rules.. beware of this detail, before coming to the restaurant.

Tried the Capital Grille for the first time this evening and the last time. While the service was very good, the majority of the food was far too salty to be eaten. We mentioned it to the server, and unfortunately he did nothing about it. Will not return to this restaurant and recommend avoiding it.

Very rude service by host. Dark. Stuffy. Outdated American chain. Choose another restaurant like Lile de France which is far superior.

Do NOT order medium rare. We were a table of 4 ordered 3 Filet Mignon - 2 well done, no problem! 1 medium, served well done 👎 & 1 New York Steak medium rare, served well done, we asked for a replacement the first time and properly have it cooked medium rare, it turned out served blue. These people can ONLY cook well done steak OR blue. After waiting for the food to be cooked and served and not being able to eat the New York steak, we decided to get the bill and leave, no discount was offered or courtesy treatment for the mishap. The prices are outrageous compared to higher quality meat and renown Steak Houses in North America.

We ordered salad, soup, sliders. We would have given a 4 star except we immediately got sick on bad beef. When paying those prices you expect everything to be perfect.
