I’ve eaten here whenever I visit. It’s an institution for me. As a chef I’ve had a lot of Mexican/Latin but Jorge’s has always been head and shoulders over the rest.

Really good Mexican food was fast and friendly service. I think it's one of the best machaca burritos to be found. You can call ahead to place your order which makes it nice for minimal time inside the building during these trying times.

Their chicken soup (chicken, rice, tomatoes, avocado, onion, cilantro) is the best in San Diego county. I realize that is saying a lot because of our proximity to MX but its true. Perfect anytime but especially if you are feeling a little under the weather...you will not be disappointed.

If you don’t like this place, you’re honestly a scumbag. The food is great and Jorge is a fricking saint. The staff is exceptional. I’ve been going here for years and this is by far my favorite ever place to eat. Never loved a restaurant more. HIGHLY recommend the Cali burrito, chimichangas, and soups. I’ve never once been disappointed by the quality or service. This place is like a third home away from the other two homes. You can guarantee that if this place closes that I will stand outside of it day and night in protest until it reopens. If I’m ever absurdly rich, there is a 100% chance that I will buy this place just so that it stays just the way it is as well a hire Jorge or one of there other current chefs to be my personal chef. Jorge, if you ever need an organ, I would be honored to be your donor. You are the light at the end of the tunnel. If there is a heaven, it better have a Jorge’s. You and your restaurant have been a remarkably pure and positive influence on the lives of everyone I know. If you happen to be one of the people who has been blessed with an opportunity to go to this dining establishment, then it would be a sin not to. This quaint little restaurant should be a national treasure. 🙏🏻

Best kept secret Mexican food spot in Encinitas! I can't find a bad dish here. The quality of carne asada in their tacos and burritos is outstanding. I'd have to say my favorite thing to order is the Chile Verde burrito and the Chile Verde plate when it's on special.

Best Mexican food in North County! The hard shell tacos are inexpensive and really fresh! Plus, they don’t use canned guacamole, they make their own guacamole daily!

Great Mexican food! I'd consider it one of the better Mexicans restaurants (of the many in the area). Good pricing and fast service as well. More menu variety than a lot of similar restaurants, including a few vegetarian options, which are pretty good.

Jorge's is my all time favorite place, and soon be be yours too. Such great food and even better costumer service. HIGHLY reccomend. I always feel very quilty when I eat at a different mexican food place, because Jorge's is the bomb. Also because of Jorge's I place high expectations on other mexican food resturants. Whether its a rainy day or sunny day it is always a prefect day for Jorge's, expext sundays they are closed. Jorges will always be like a home to me, and has always supported me. If you ever need a gringa with beginer spanish and mediocre cooking skills I would be truly honored to work for your fine establishment (I will be 16 in April and am looking for a fun summer job, I am hardworking and will greet every costumer with a smile).

The absolute best Mexican 'city style' chicken soup on the planet. Jorge is retiring so he will no longer be at this location but nothing will change in terms of the food or the way the restaurant is run. All the food here is great. You can eat there if you like, they have 4 tables inside and 2 small tables outside.

I Love, Love, Love Jorge's delicious food.I was previously addicted to their Fajita Style Shrimp Burrito, years ago in Encinitas. I found them again, in business with the best quality and scrumptious menu. Great service, great selection. You can't go wrong.

Every time I come here, the food has always been excellent. Their chicken soup has actual chunks of chicken and avocado. Their salsa also has to be some of the best in San Diego. It's extremely flavorful with the right amount of kick.

If you want to eat real mexican food, this is NOT the place but its hard to find good mexican food around this area anyways. Its Not bad food, its just not mexican food

Sadly, I was underwhelmed. With such good Mexican food in So CA, this one fell short. Dried refried beans, rice had a charcoal flavor resulting in only one spoonful (oops, they forgot to put a fork and knife in the bag to navigate the rice, beans & enchilada), small pieces of uncaptivating, mild flavored carne asada in the soft tacos. The spoonfuls of shredded beef enchilada were good but that was after being met with disappointing previous courses. I was tempted to grab In-N-Out Burger on the way home to compensate for the dinner defeat.

When they first opened this location I would have given it a 5. But they have progressively added less and less meat to their burritos and it has gotten dryer and dryer. I could barely find any in my last one. The El Camino location is better. The soup is good, but too salty. Lourdes for example has better soup in every dimension.

Soup was great, abodaba taco was decent, breakfast burrito was large, dry, and bland. Salsa was a good topping. Fish taco was generic.

The older lady working the cash register immediately started arguing with me upon arrival because I did not answer her in Spanish. I let her know to the best of my ability that I do not speak Spanish and I am not Mexican. She asked, so I told her that I am Apache. She said “well Apache’s are kind of Mexican” to which I replied that no they aren’t and they do not speak any form of Spanish. She says “Well then I’m sorry for you….and for me.” I finally get my burrito and it sucks 👎🏼 the meat had a strange seasoning and everything else was bland.

So my wife was admitted into Scripps which is right across the street from this place. I wanted to eat a good meal because I haven't eaten well for a few days worrying and such. I came here because of the reviews. I ordered 3 flautas and a can of Sprite.. my ordered was called and it was 3 chicken tacos. I looked and told the guy that it was wrong. He insisted I ordered 3 chicken tacos. I continued to explain to him that I didn't. He looked and acted upset, I was drained from everything I was dealing with with my wife and just said "fine I'll just eat them". He didn't even offer a replacement. The chicken in the tacos was bland, had no seasoning, they were topped well with cheese and lettuce but that's it. Plus the can of sprite costed me I believe $1.75.. that is horrible.. I won't be back..

Dont go here if you are looking for a California Burrito. It doesn’t come with fries in it, that costs extra (doesn’t make sense I know). Comes with about 4 oz of steak that was dry and unseasoned.

So the food wasn't that great I have the fish tacos and I felt like they were cooking or they were old. The beans and rice were okay I know later on it made my stomach not feel very good eating their food same goes for my friend who had a Green burrito that day her stomach was upset as well later on that day and they don't have like soda fountain they don't have soda drinks that are on fountain. So would I ever go to the restaurant I would say most likely not for the amount of food that we got that tasted and made us feel sick that we shouldn't have paid over $55 just for that food not worth it at all SKIP IT!!!

I bought a carne asada burrito but it looks more like a taco than a burrito. It’s more tortilla than anything else.

This place is a rip off never coming back here. They used to be good but have since gone down the drain.

Our food was dry no flavor , chilaquiles usually have chesse & sour cream we had to pay 1.50 for that enchilada ala cart was literallt just thrown onto a plate no lettuce sour cream nothing accompanied, we were missing a taco the man says oh man the previous customer stole it what a lady ill get you yours i ask for salsa this man literally walked to the man sitting a table across from us and asked if he still needed his salsa when this customer is still eatting his burrito & he said no so the owner takes his salsa & hands it to me, first of all how rude is thay secondly your paying for your food so why would he feel the need to disturb anot5ger customer and reuse his salsa i would give him a negative 5 stars if possible

Scam. I ordered a carne asada burrito and got more pico than meat, I ordered a California burrito, I get potatoes with a sprinkle of meat, overpriced, taking advantage of customers, you deserve to go out of business for being so stingy that customers aren't getting what they pay for. Close, maybe a real restaurant can use that space

Good food but crummy customer service. I was given the wrong order and called right away to explain what happened. The young man I spoke to said no problem, wrote down my name and number and said to come back in anytime to get the right order. I went back the next day and the boy at the counter had no idea about the incident, refused to help me and told me I had to pay for my order again. I’ve spent HUNDREDS of dollars at this place and couldn’t believe they didn’t want to correct their mistake. I was treated poorly and made to feel foolish. Excuse me for thinking that the customer is always right and a restaurant should try to keep their loyal customers. They just lost one.

California burrito doesn't have much meet, but you get a lot of potatoes. They also charge a fee if you use pay by credit card .

Overpriced. If the location wasn’t across from the hospital/skatepark/high school this place wouldn’t survive. California burritos has burnt quartered potatoes. I tried several times specifying NOT getting potatoes over deep fried and quartered. Didn’t happen. I rarely leave reviews. I live a block away, lived here 35 years. Sorry guys. We deserve better for the only mexican food spot on Santa Fe
