Loved Black Agave! I've been meaning to come here and finally got around to coming. It was well worth it! Great place to unwind and enjoy some great Mexican food and drinks! The dog-friendly patio is very spacious and has a great waterfont view. The happy hour is great - the house margaritas are good. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and they were delicious, as was the salsa and chips. And the service was excellent. I'll definitely be back!!

Brunch at Black Agave was a fantastic experience! The food was spot on, and I have to say, the red salsa was a standout—I couldn't get enough of it and even added it to my fish tacos. The patio overlooking the lake made for a relaxing setting, and the spacious interior had a great vibe, perfect for larger groups too. The service was top-notch; our waiter was attentive, and the manager checked in to ensure everything was just right. I'll definitely be back—this place is ideal for a laid-back Saturday or Sunday brunch with friends or family!

What a surprise! The shopping strip is still being constructed, so don’t let that deter you from visiting. The food and the atmosphere is amazing! Comfortable chairs, relaxing atmosphere, multiple TVs all in an enjoyable fun atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. The food was so good! And that is the focus of this review. We started with a loaded queso, which was smooth and very filling. One of us got enchiladas and the other one pozole soup. Both meals were filling and sizable. But the quality of the food and the presentation is top-notch. We finished it off with a six leches cake and a scoop of ice cream that comes with a sparkler being lit as it’s brought to your table. Go try this place for yourself, especially during happy hour when there are discounted drinks and food. We will be visiting multiple times in the near future.

Tonight we had another team dinner and chose Black Agave. It's sort of off on a piece of land by itself, but its brand new and really great food. I'm sure things will pop up around this good location that will add yo the appeal. You can choose from 2 different menus. One is a Tex Mex and one is a smokehouse BBQ menu. Both were fantastic. The service was fast and friendly. The drinks were creative and very appealing. I'd definitely recommend Black Agave for the beautiful decor and layout and for the wonderful variety of food choices

What a great find! The chips are seasoned, light and crispy, the salsa is home made and is unlike anything you’ve ever had. They make it with hot pepper oils, the waitress informed us. I’m super picky on fajitas, and they came out and were perfect- actual strips of steak with that consistency of real steak, not that rubbery inedible product so many are selling these days. On top of that, it was very affordable for lunch! A new favorite spot whenever I’m in that part of town!

I have been wanting to try this place for their brunch but missed it but still decided to go for an early dinner. It wasn't crowded at my 5pm reservation. Loved the ambiance, and my server Jo'lia(pretty sure I spelled it wrong) was great and very attentive!!! This place has a fabulous patio and view of the sunset if you go at the right time. I will definitely be back to try to catch the brunch.

Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly and energetic waiter. He provided a high chair for my 7 month old. The atmosphere was relaxing and the seats were very comfortable. Throughout the stay, the waiter did a great job with customer service The food was elevated authentic Mexican dishes. When the chips and salsa came out, I knew it would have good flavors in the food because those initial salsa's had a great balance. Elote had it all! The mayo, cheese, crushed hot chips and lime came together so well! Steak fajitas were tender and the flour tortillas were delicious. The beans had a slight kick as though they were fried in jalapeno oil. Ceviche tasted delicious, although I didn't like the large sliced jalapeno. I would have preferred them diced. The chicken tigas migas (I think that's what's it called) was amazing, I loved how tender and soft the tortillas were and the incorporation of the chicken was on point. Finally, the cinco leches cake came out with sparklers. It had a beautiful presentation and tasted great with the whipped cream and berries. A lot of thought and love goes into that food.

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. This restaurant recently opened and this was our first time eating here. The enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, and nachos were all great. The whole staff is very professional and friendly. We live nearby and this will be our new Go To place.

From the moment we stepped into the new fusion Mexican restaurant, we were greeted with an ambiance that promised a delightful culinary journey. The true highlight, however, was our server Jade, whose enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu added an extra layer of excitement to our experience. We began our feast with an appetizing array of starters. The trio of micheladas, each distinct in its flavor profile, was a perfect blend of tangy and spicy notes, setting the tone for the meal. The flight of tequila margaritas, a creative twist on the classic cocktail, was a symphony of flavors that danced on the palate. Complementing these beverages were the chicken nachos and queso chip dip, which were a harmonious blend of crunchiness and creamy, cheesy goodness. Moving on to the entrees, the chicken tacos were a revelation. Each taco was a perfect parcel of flavor, with the chicken cooked to tender perfection and wrapped in a soft, warm tortilla. The chicken fajitas were equally impressive, with a smoky aroma and succulently spiced chicken strips that melted in the mouth. The veggie quesadillas were a delightful surprise, bursting with fresh, grilled vegetables and oozing with cheese. The overall dining experience was elevated by the beautiful outdoor seating. The sunny weather and the stunning view made our meal even more enjoyable. What truly set this restaurant apart was their attention to detail and customer service. Their willingness to go above and beyond, particularly in providing hot water as per our request, was a testament to their commitment to customer satisfaction.

I want to give Black Agave a big gold star for the taste of their food. My husband and I are Mercer locals and got to go to the grand opening of this restaurant, and we dined here with our parents on their second evening of being open. The guacamole was a great starter. Both my father and I were impressed by the filet mignon and the pork belly fajitas. My mother got the nachos, and we all kind of chuckled after the presentation. The nachos are served in a big can that is lifted up off of the nachos, as if there is about to be a grand reveal. Instead, a huge plate of chips with *barely* any cheese or toppings. I would suggest if there's going to be a grand reveal for nachos, with a big presentation, then go big on the nachos. Unfortunately there were a couple of dishes that they ran out of that we wanted to try, and our reservation was for 6:00 p.m. My three stars was for our service. Hopefully they are just trying to get their feet off the ground right now, but our server rarely checked on us, we had to ask for water and chips refills multiple times, and we were neglected long enough for me to have to go to the bar and get water refills for my family. We did have a couple of other people, who I think were managers, who came to check on us and they were very kind, wanting to know how our experience was going. When we asked those managers for chips or water refills, that seemed to happen quickly. I will add that while we were there for 2 hours, there were only about five other tables eating dinner so it was not very busy. We ended our night with two desserts, the Cinco leches, and another that I can't remember (and menu is not on the website). But they were SPECTACULAR. I'm excited to come back in a couple of weeks to see if I can change my review to Five Stars. We are very hopeful that this will be a regular dining experience for me and my entire family because of its proximity and great tasting flavor of Mexican cuisine.

Cool place to try. I enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa particularly the green salsa. I had the steak tacos. I think the tacos would have been great if they were well seasoned. They lacked flavor. The rice and beans were good and I enjoyed the margarita. Also our server was great.

Something has changed after the recent "re-opening". Our previous 2 visits in 2024 was wonderful. Our experience yesterday 4/26/25 was very disappointing. The pros: The food and drink presentations look really nice. The atmosphere is enjoyable. The carne asada tacos were good. The rice and refried beans were good. The Black Agave cocktail was tasty, though it was not as flavourful as it was during our visits last year. They serve complimentary tortilla chips with cold red salsa (medium spicy) and warm verde green salsa (very spicy). The cons: The complimentary salsas are served in a tiny dish not big enough to share, and the waitress did not offer to bring more. We ordered queso blanco as an appetizer as we loved it during our last visits but this time it was awful. It was served room temp, very runny, very miky and bland. Nothing like how it tasted last year. Maybe just a bad batch. The chicken verde enchiladas were okay, but also bland. The only flavor was the spicy verde sauce on top. I do not recommend. The waitress was friendly, but she was inattentive despite us being the only diners at the time. Not sure if this experience is due to new management, or something else. We rather go somewhere else for tex-mex.

The experience I think could have been better, we went to try this place out because the food looked appealing. We walked in and got seated but it took a while for someone I guess to get assigned to us as like a few people came to our table asking if we’ve been helped yet. After 20 min someone came to us and took our order, we got the frozen margarita flight, tried the mole enchiladas and the pork belly fajita. Tres leches for dessert. The only thing that stood out was the flight and the dessert in my opinion, the food didn’t taste as good as we thought it would. Oh yeah and the chips/salsa are free.

Review based on one dinner here. Arrived at about 5 pm on a Sunday. Restaurant was almost empty. Maybe not a good sign. Newer restaurant with a back patio. I did not particularly enjoy my chile relleno. It looked visually appealing but the sauce on the plate had a sour, vinegar flavor that I didn’t like. Had an issue with my son’s meal but to management’s credit they made it right by making him a new dish.

It's surprising what 2 months can do. 2 months ago I gave this restaurant a good review the food was good, time I spend on the outside patio was nice and so was the service. Today I came back to the restaurant it was upside down day. The service was terrible at every opportunity the waitress disappeared. But the disappointing service was exceeded by the food which was incredibly Bland. I would not recommend this there's many more restaurants better.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch with my parents. We were told to sear ourselves and never received menus until they noticed us sitting there. The waiter (I'm not even sure he has worked in a restaurant before) did not know the menu. We tried to order beer and they didn't have anything we wanted so he just told us what we could have. We ordered the shrimp chipotle tacos, carne asada tacos and fajitas. The shrimp tacos and the carne asada tacos were not good. The meat didn't taste fresh or seasoned. The waiter did not even know how to place our order it seemed he showed me the screen for what brand I wanted. My father's fajita plate never came as my mom and I were barely eating our tacos. He had to go ask the waiter that was behind the claimed "closed" bar if his meal was coming. He looked confused and when he came back he said the kitchen messed up the dish. We told them to forget about it and we will go somewhere else. The quality of the food was just not appetizing at all. I don't recommend this place. The staff is unorganized and seem very new to the industry that they cannot be consistent or at least have options ready for us if things are not available.

I started coming a little over 1 year ago when management was different. It was busier at that time with more staff. Now, it’s A LOT slower, barely any people there, but it does have its moments. This place has A LOT of potential. The food is good but the menu contains food that the previous management had. Some food is no longer being offered. Menu needs to be updated. If you have a bigger party, prepare to have a longer wait time. The staff is severely understaffed. There is 2 servers and that includes as a host and bartender and possibly 1 busboy. Food may or may not come out a little colder due to the wait time and how many people are working that night. Again, it has potential. Maybe will try again in the future.
