Excelente customer service, great ambiance, food could be better. Rice was horrible and so was the shrimp appetizer. I have 5 stars bc service was great. As a Korean bbq enthusiast, I was looking for “my spot” since I just moved to FL. Unfortunately won’t be here. To the next…
Love this place , it is just different than any lunch or dinner , get ready to put some hands on your food , you will be the chef . Maybe just add a variation of Shrimp on the regular choice . Great for a birthday👏
It was ok nothing wow I would have to comeback. Our server was kinda busy with others table no great service unfortunately. Even you don’t finish your plate you cannot take away with you. In purpose don’t to keep ordering more food once you have unlimited . Such a waste of food if you don’t finish. I definitely disagree.
Ammmmmmazing! ONLY thing that needs improving is the kimchi, other than that I had no complaints. Everything was sooo good! Came for my bday and they allowed me to eat solo, thanks guys I had a great time!
Gen is hands down one of the best Korean BBQ spots I’ve been to! The quality of the meats is outstanding—especially the short ribs and steak, which were tender and flavorful. I really appreciated the excellent smoke ventilation, which kept the dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. The salad and sides were fresh and balanced the richness of the grilled meats perfectly. Overall, a fantastic place to enjoy high-quality Korean BBQ with friends and family.
Casual spot, friendly service, good food, a few Korean beer options. Came on a Sunday with a party of 10, was able to get seated right away with no reservations. Would return
Very affordable price sometimes they do happy hours just for $25 with the Price. It’s not a bad place. Everything is fresh they always give you what you need you can eat as much as you can you just have to cook it fun if you want to spend time in a restaurant and have a conversation this is the one place you can go And you can have some experience about Korean barbecue.
First time experience and a great time. The food is absolutely delicious as well as the drinks made to a perfection quality of taste. Highly recommend this place especially if you’re looking for an amazing Korean bbq restaurant. Ty the waiter provided professional customer service with explaining how the lunch and dinner menu specials work and gave me the best recommendations to eat.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! I hope everytime after the first experience is just as good because me and my partner had an amazing dinner here! A HUGEEEE thank you to our Server, Ed! He explained the menu so well we didn’t have any questions. We never had to ask him to change the grill because he was so on point! He wasn’t pushy about the premium, which was great because I already knew I wanted it. He honestly was great overall, quick, helpful, extremely kind. I would definitely ask for him next time we go. Whoever was behind the bar during 2/13 nightshift did their thing with the drinks too! The mule was delicious and came out quickly! The meat was fresh, and flavorful! We ordered the Hawaiian beef 3x because it was sooooo tasty. The waygu was delicious!! The shrimp was good, I loved the Cajun seasoning it came in. Just don’t overcook it. The carne asada was plentiful we couldn’t even finish it (you get charged for leftovers). It also came with tortillas, make sure to cook them as they come uncooked. The short rib was pretty good as well. The spicy fried was was superbbbb and I don’t care much for fried rice. I tore that fried rice up!! The only thing we got that we didn’t care for was the calamari. My partner said it was ok. For us to have eaten that much food and our bill rounded out to $145 I have absolutely no complaints. Thank you Gen!
Awesome all you can eat Restaurant option. First of all the price is amazing all you can eat for $30 dollars with the option of a premium menu for only +$20 is unbeatable. The service is amazing friendly and funny specially if they sing you a happy birthday you will laugh. The food is all great you how so many options to choose from you can't go wrong u less you just don't have any taste buds. The atmosphere is great the music the light the cleanliness. The restaurant is a bit cold but I guess it's due to all the heat coming from the grill at the same time. End of it all great experience a date night for 2 or a large party of 20. 5 out of 5.
I have tried Korean BBQ restaurants in LA (Korea Town), NYC (Korea Town), Seattle, Orlando area, and at home near metro Detroit. But I have to say this restaurant ranks in my top five. I love the all you can eat concept with one charge per person and the ability to upgrade to premium for $20. The charge includes appetizers and traditional side dishes. The restaurant was packed, the ambience was lively, and the staff were extremely friendly. Good cuts of meat, the sides, and appetizers were delicious.
What a great place to spend and eat delicious !! Amazing the fact that is a fixed price, all you want to order and you have the delight to be able to cook it yourself I have the best customer service … great guy .. I’m bad with names.. he was Hispanic and I think his name is Christian..hopefully that’s his name because he really made yesterday night special . Has a great time !!

Korean BBQ experience at Gen was amazing. Great selection on meats and vegetables and the fun experience to cook it yourself right at your table. It’s great to dine with friends as you get to talk, cook, eat and have so much fun. The service was excellent and the staff tended to our every need with a smile.

Just ate at GEN Korean BBQ House in Fort Lauderdale and wow… absolutely unreal experience. The food was unbelievably incredible — perfectly seasoned, insanely fresh, and cooked to perfection. Every bite hit. On top of that, the service was next-level. Kat, the hostess, was welcoming and on point from the moment we walked in. Ty, the bus boy, was attentive, fast, and kept everything spotless without missing a beat. And Vincent, our server, was top-notch — knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience feel effortless. This place absolutely nails it: amazing food, amazing service, amazing vibe. If you’re thinking about coming here, don’t hesitate. GEN Korean BBQ is doing it right. 🔥🥩🔥
This was my first time visiting this Gen BBQ location, and everything was absolutely phenomenal. What truly made the experience a 5-star one was our server, Caesar. Since it was my first visit, he took the time to explain how everything works, suggested the best food options, and even guided us on how to cook everything properly. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made sure we had an amazing experience from start to finish. Because of Caesar, my first visit was unforgettable, and I will definitely be coming back.
Overall, the service at Gen Korean BBQ was excellent — very attentive, friendly, and responsive. I really appreciate the staff and their great attitude. However, the sirloin steak was disappointing. There was a strong bloody smell, and more importantly, the beef was sliced along the grain instead of against the grain, which made it extremely tough after grilling and very hard to chew. Proper slicing against the grain would significantly improve tenderness. I hope the kitchen can improve the meat preparation, because the service was great and I’d like to have a better food experience next time.
A place to go to for the experience. With a group or celebrate. Similar to fondue at melting pot. You will need to upgrade to the premium package to enjoy the best cuts of meat. Had a great time with 4 people but would not go back just us 2. The meat is tender and delicious. Various cuts so don’t fill up on the appetizers. Skip the fatty Wagu. Good selection of chicken. Seafood 🍤 skip.
Our first experience to Gen was out in CA a few years ago which I felt was a little better. This Las Olas location is surely spacious and clean atmosphere. We went for lunch on a Saturday and were immediately seated. I would say it’s good value for price at $35 / person all you can eat. FYI, weekend are all day dinner menu and prices. Lots of choices of meat. We only tried a few of the more basic one. Quality of meat could be better for sure. Services can be better as it was slightly slow. Still a great place to hangout with friends and family if you’re just looking for a Korean grilling style place.
Just your typical all you can eat Korean BBQ. Everything was pretty average, not bad but not great either. We did pay an extra fee for their long bone short rib steak which was the highlight. It’s a one and done here folks with so many other options in this area to experience.

I had high hopes, was going to go to Volcano but decided to give it a try, Menu is great lots of options we tried ordering the bulgogi fries they never came. One of the sides of pickles had a hair in it not good first impression. We waited 30 min for our drinks, and food came out oven wasn’t turned on no utensils . We had to ask multiple times for our drinks, food was great though just expect better service we will try again.
From Premium to Problematic This review has been a long time coming. When Gen Las Olas opened in 2023, I fell in love with it. The food, service, and vibe were incredible. Charles and Hanna made our party of 15 feel like VIPs. I wrote a glowing review and came back often. In 2024, I praised their new menu, the Taco Sampler, and the unforgettable Marbling Center Cut. It became our go-to KBBQ spot. But the past six months have been disappointing, especially tonight. I've held off on writing a negative review because I used to love this place, but the decline is hard to ignore. Service has dropped. We stacked our own plates to help out, but no one came. A manager saw me take a photo of the stacked dishes and said nothing. Another manager, who we were once happy to see promoted, walked past our burned grill multiple times without offering to change it. Servers rushed by too fast to get their attention, and it took over 8 minutes just to get a bowl of rice. Our server yelled for help, was ignored, and eventually brought it himself. The place wasn't even that busy. The food wasn't any better. Hawaiian Steak, Honey Soy Beef Belly, and K-Gochujang Beef Belly were tough and chewy. Galbi, Marbling Center Cut, and Spicy Chicken were better, but not great. When this location opened, it was well-trained and full of energy. That's no longer the case. The original staff is gone, and what's left feels disengaged. It shows in the food, service, and overall vibe. Their motto is "Experience premium without a limit." Lately, it feels more like "Experience limits without the premium." I still care about this place and hope it gets back to what it used to be, but it's time for an honest update.

I love Korean bbq it’s one of my favorites. Never in my life have I experienced a place like this. The soy sauce? Homemade garbage—tasted like rancid seed oil. We had to sprint to another restaurant just to buy soy sauce for our meal. Service was a disaster: no utensils, forgotten orders, servers ghosting us mid-meal. Then one employee chased me outside—literally—demanding I bump the tip because we didn’t grovel enough. Disrespectful, incompetent, and shameless. Steer clear unless you enjoy humiliation with your meat.
I celebrated my 73rd birthday on Thursday. After lots of thought, I decided to go to Gen for early dinner. I checked Google. They said they were open from 11 to 11. I got there at 2 o’clock and the place was locked up tight - nobody inside. Very disappointed. And worse, I went next-door to this Argentinian restaurant. It was the worst food I have ever had since I moved here five years ago. Thanks, Gen!
