Watched our friend Trey play here and really loved the vibe. Only thing I found odd about this place is that they charge you the drinks before you even get them 🤨

10 days of Christmas in July. Was a winter wonderland. Fun Great music. Great craft drink....to many sweetie drinks for me, but good just the same.

Amazing atmosphere! Hands down one of the coolest gems in Fresno. Drinks are strong and very well made. Don't pass this place up!

The place has a great atmosphere and like most tower spots it can get a bit cramped. The bar is large and takes up most of the first room you enter in but there is seating available on all sides of the bar. The bar has great cocktails and drinks to choose from but beer has only so many handles available to choose from. The drinks will be pricey but you are paying for quality mixed drinks so be aware and tip accordingly. You can sit at the bar or tables or you can play a game of shuffle board. You can also go outside to the patio which is small but open for some fresh air. The live musicians who play there are always top notch and well worth a night out.

The staff is always super friendly whenever I go and pick up an order very polite.Always courteous very friendly.I love that they ask if I need anything else.We got the broccoli chicken over noodles.The pork fried rice and a special combination plate with chicken chow, main and orange chicken.As opposed to the fried shrimp. Their serving sizes are awesome. If we could easily feed a family of 5 or more, depending how much you get? With what we got, it was enough to feed The Four of Us with leftovers. I will definitely be going back and ordering again from them.

This is hands down the best Chinese food! I went there as a small child with my family and after 30 years of trying other places, it is still the best food! Generous portions and every dish is so good. Friendly servers. The fried rice and bean sprouts are still the best I've ever had. Kung Pao chicken and orange chicken are so good. Highly recommend!

Nice Chinese restaurant hidden away. Almost passed by this gem when cruising through the Tower district. Main entrance is off on the side street, saw it while stopping to get cash from the ATM. Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Good food, nice decor and friendly people.

Golden Restaurant is a little gem in the Tower District that serves great food and personal service. This is one of my favorites and I have to get my fix mostly. Try the Golden Chicken with Chow main and friends rice. It's addictive !! Everything is great and the portions are big.

The dishes here are slightly different than the other places we are used to. The food is more bland and oily but tasted fine. The sauce is light so it’s more on the healthier side. Plenty of parking in the lot and on the road. Waitresses were friendly providing great service.

Stone Soup

I can't believe it's taken me this long to eat here, and we used to live in tower. Shame on me. We stopped in here before a concert. Grabbed the house special fried rice. Which was delicious. Order of fried shrimp. Warning mustard is crazy hot. I got the won tons for an appetizer. Perfectly crisp, along with tasty sweet and sour sauce. Service was good. Drinks were always filled. Nice little booth we sat in. Will for sure be back.

The Golden is a landmark Chinese restaurant in the heart of Fresno’s Tower District, celebrating 50 years in 2017. I highly recommend the pork combination plate. Delicious and the price is still surprisingly reasonable. Highly recommend for a taste of old Fresno.

Back in my home town and it's been years sence the last time I was here. Great food, Love there fried chop suey pork. Update. Back in town again and ordered pot sticker( handmade), shrimp fried rice and shrimp chop suey. Always great food.

Stopped in for a one and done cocktail with my wife ! Glad we did. Very nice decor inside. Cocktails with excellent.

Love the vibes of this place , drinks are always great , I wish they keep little snacks for munching ….. their live bands are fun

I must say food was really good and even reminded me of a special dish my wife used to make. I had a luncheon special with the pineapple chicken. There was way more food than I could eat so plenty to take home.

We got the special combination plate, and was very happy with it. The fried shrimp was perfectly crispy and not oily. Chow mein was also really good and the beef and broccoli was great too. The beef had a great flavor and was tender and juicy. The service was in point, I only had water but my cup was never empty for longer than what felt like seconds. Bathroom was clean, a victim of some vandals at worst. Decor was nice enough with some classic rock for ambience.

While my husband and I enjoy the food that the Golden Restaurant has to offer, it can be inconsistent and incomplete. Once we arrived home with our takeout order of ALMOND Chicken Chow Mein, we found that it had NO ALMONDS in it! It was definitely not what we ordered. The Golden Special Chicken is one of our favorites, but each time we order it, our orders are different with either a generous amount of onions and peppers or almost none.

As a person who often goes on solo excursions, unfortunately I can’t give Howlin Wolf all of the props. When I’ve come here with friends, I’ve found the service to be a bit quicker and more gracious. When I’ve come by myself, I’ve waited anywhere from 15-25 minutes to be acknowledged at the bar, and that too only when I work up the courage to say something. It’s not necessarily that I’m afraid to speak up, but I’m hyper vigilant about how I interact with those that work within the service industry so I have a hard time asking for attention versus waiting what I think is my turn. I’ve been seated solo at the bar and experienced multiple groups after me be served before I’m noticed. I’m not sure why that is, but I do like Howlin Wolf for their guest musicians, their general ambiance, their creative Instagram posts, and the drinks (superb). And I do have to mention the staff have never been overtly rude - in fact when I do interact with the staff they seem really knowledgeable and I don’t feel a bad vibe, but sometimes at least in my experience it takes a while to be acknowledged. This is a place I’ll definitely keep trying! It’s absolutely worth giving a shot!

We Went here last night while we were in town. Ate here in November and the orange chicken was delicious! The sauce was a darker brown and had so much flavor. Last night I ordered the orange chicken and it was a disappointment. Some of the chicken tasted old and had a funny smell. The sauce was the color of raw honey and had very little taste.The noodles seemed old as they were tough and hard to cut. I’ve had fresh noodles there in the past and they are so good. We also had the special chop suey chow mein, it was good. Portions are always great, maybe they had a new cook last night or something. Their orange chicken is my favorite but last night was a huge disappointment.

My first impression when entering was quiet and clean, the server who took my order was very friendly. I'll be honest I found the pan fried noodles and fried rice to be underwhelming it was tossed together very lazily and not even crispy on the noodles, the top vegetables were composed of what I can assume was canned or frozen vegetables barely cooked with very little seasoning.

The sign that says ‘we don’t cook with lard or animal fat’ is the only good news for vegetarians at this restaurant. The king pai tofu was extremely oily with a few vegetables that were barely there. It also ran a little sweet. I did not dare eat the crackling rice soup since I was not really convinced it wax made with vegetable broth. My husband loved his duck though .

Entrees are hearty. Very reasonable prices. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Special Combo plate w broccoli beef. The sauce on the broccoli beef was really good. The rest was OK. I just happened to glance (!) over at another table eating the Chinese chicken salad, and it was enough to feed an army! Looked 👍.

Golden Dragon was our choice for Friday family dinner, we walked in with very high hopes considering all the recommendations and reviews read. We walked in to a very welcoming smell and sat in a corner table, which I am greatful the staff allowed us to accommodate my disabled leg. The air was muggy/humid and it was an uncomfortable warm atmosphere that made us break into a clamy sweat. We ordered 2 orange chicken and 1 scallop dinners as well as the appetizer sampler. We were wow'd when the appetizer came as it was huge, but upon eating we looked at each other with a odd face as the tempura broccoli tasted old with a freon taste and the onion rings as well as the chicken wings were mush instead of crunchy; seems like the platter was boiled in oil. The orange chicken was not crunchy and seemed mushy, sad to say the fried scallops were the same. My girls didn't eat and wifey & I both agreed we had enough. This is the first time we didn't want to ask for a to go box but didn't want to be rude. What a shame, this was a restaurant we have been hearing nothing but great things about from just about everyone we asked where is the best place to eat Chinese food at in Fresno. The soup and fried wonton that came before our meals was the best part of our experience. We paid $70 for this meal but strongly feel it was not worth the price.

After going there for over a decade and always getting the same plate, pineapple chicken they got a new cook and changed the recipe! Absolutely horrible and so disappointing! Even the great sauce that accompanied your fried won ton appetizer changed! So very sad I will not be going back.
