Reasonable Prices, quick service, not too crowded, outdoor seating.
Friendly staff and a comfortable vibe. Love this place!
Best indoor/outdoor coffeeshop in Orange County
Shera was most friendly and nice atmosphere. Great hangout, great clientele. Good cake and arcade games.
Cool place. Really nice atmosphere. Comfortable seating. A lot of options for food and beverages.
Awesome place to study. Great people and food. I like the pastrami and hot chocolate. This the college study caffe!!!
This place is amazing! I can't believe a coffee joint this good is open until 3am. Awesome
Go here often. Always had great service. Try a pastrami sandwich....awesome!! Iced mochas are my fav!!
They accept credit now! Great little place to read, work, study, smoke or w/e you want.
This has been my go to spot for years. Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy good coffee.
Amazing! Friendly, great wifi, sledgehammer ❤️, turkey bacon 🙌, and outdoor smoking/ seating area ,👏👏
Love coming here to study. They have amazing coffee and pretty good food as well!
Great little shop. Wide variety of teas. Cool art on the walls, which is also for sale.
I've loved this place since 1995. Best coffee and atmosphere hand down
Love this hidden gem. Great chai tea latte n it is open very very late 3 a.m.
Such a calming environment, truly the best place to work and take aesthetic pictures.✨
Always a great atmosphere and some pretty good coffee.
Open till 2am?! Best atmosphere in the area, if you haven't been, it's worth your time.
Buy something and don't be a tool. Have a bagel, toasted with cream cheese, avocado and crumbled bacon...awesome.
I love this place. It's chill and always has good people around
Very pleasant ambience and the staff is awesome, especially the owner (McClain) herself! =D
Fantastic coffee shop, good food, friendly and accommodating baristas.
I just love how has outside seat and majority people enjoying a cup of coffee with their cigarette.
I ordered a turkey sandwich and it came with chips. Drank the free water. Service was good. I came during the day and it wasn't that packed and gave me plenty of time to read and stuff. I like this place during the day because it's not all busy like starbucks.
This place is the one of the longest running coffee shops in Orange County period. The aesthetics of the building are as flavorful as the coffee and the WiFi is very fast. McClains has a great amount of local flavor and everything they have on the menu is delicious and always fresh.
McClaines is a local hero. Having a coffee shop open till 3am with good coffee, great cafe food, good music, comfy couches and a warm relaxed atmosphere is pretty one of a kind. I hope this place outlives me. If you haven't been do yourself a favor.
McClain is a DOLL! This is a great place to actually converse with your barista as she makes legitimate lattes and macchiatos that are worth the price. The atmosphere and menu are very welcoming to all ages. There's an outdoor area, plenty of books and games indoors, and lots of seats to kick back.
Cool vibes. Little small but that adds to the experience. Solid latte, asked for a surprise, and was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a spot to check out. Didn't try food but looked good.
one of a kind, quirky late night coffee house with mostly students studying and groups socializing on large tables on a huge tobacco-friendly gas-heated patio situated on the north end of downtown fullerton. the general vibe reads sort of like if all the protagonists and supporting characters from three Judd Apatow productions got woven together by Quentin Tarantino in a kind of boring mashup re envisioning that critics might call "ahead of it's time" or "basicaly like an edgy chess club peacefully protesting a Pogs convention by challenging actual personifications of the blurred and fraying edges of "the norm" to a low stakes no contact untelevised Jenga tournament" relaxed and lively shop with maybe colorful tattoos or perhaps a nose ring, new shoes unusually scuffed lowkey couchsurfing still on scholarship sporting crooked drawstring hoods down slanging guaranteed B+ term papers or your next one's on the house.
Freshly brewed ice tea reminded me of summers when my mother would make that for lunch. Service is always good. Music is awesome.
Such a cute little coffee shop. So cozy and I absolutely love the furniture. Great taste! To whom ever decorated the shop. Really love this café.
Great customer service, cozy atmosphere, yet spacious at the same time. Go see them b4 they close. Word is they'll be closing in a November. It will be sad to see them go.
In the era of starbucks setting the norm for coffeehouses. The iconic coffeehouses have become relics due to starbucks saturating local economies with their cookie cut experience. Mcclains lives tho. It still thrives and embraces the classic coffee house asthetic. Art sold off the wall, retro to electro soundtracks, coffee til 3am, classic pastry yummies and baked potato pizazz. Like who still sells a fully loaded baked potatoes? Like real potatoes with the skin. Live music sometimes, arcade game, board games a bookshelf with awesome books. I mean mcclains is 21st century cool, plugin with digital devices, all the cool social media celebs of Fullerton, yet with 20th century coffeeshop, preinternet vibes.
Gotta say I love the vibe of this place. And the owner is nothing less than amazing! Been going here since I was a youngin and wouldnt trade it for anything. This is a precious gem hidden in plain sight a few blocks north of downtown fullerton.
You have to order at least one thing. Closes till around 2am. Great place to study, play board games, or just have a good chat with a pal
I love the relaxing atmosphere ,unlock some places where I feel like I'm walking into a flashback from the 80s.I don't drink coffee I walk over here to drink a soda and enjoy the people and the patio.no one does the shhhh thing here.
The patio is perfect for hanging out with friends until 3am. The coffee is perfectly made and the service is great.
One of the best places for some coffee and late night school work. Chill environment and friendly people all around, this place rocks!
Really nice cozy spot to get some studying and work done. Atmosphere is relaxed. Was there till about 1am with still a large gathering of other people still present. They don't close till 3am so if your looking for somewhere to grab a bite or some coffee late and relax or crunch, look no further.
A cozy, eclectic atmosphere. Inside you'll find several comfy, retro style sofas and chairs to relax in. Outside is a large patio area with many tables and chairs. Grab some coffee at a fair price (bring your own cup and pay just &$1) and the menu has many different bottled refreshments, desserts, bagels and sandwiches
I've been going there for years. After a short time, the owner knew my name, my mother, all my friends and who I was dating. She cares a lot about her regulars. She doesn't like it when people are rude to her employees or her other customers, so if you act like you are better than the people around you, you will not be happy at McClain's. That's ok, I'll take your spot on the patio.
Definitely has the best vibe out of all coffee shops in all of fullerton! It feels like home when you’re there. The ambiance is welcoming and can allow for you to meet new people. The parking is a bit scarce but I’d definitely put this on the list of places to visit.
BIG BIG shout out to McClain’s Coffeehouse! This quaint little spot just beyond downtown, out of reach for many of the tourists but home to many very thankful regulars. It’s been a favorite of mine for a years. It is small business owner operated, and continues to update and progress, keeping itself in style with not just art or entertainment but also with their technology. Now debit and credit accessible with a high speed iPad terminal. I need to know who is doing the baking because their pastries are moist, rich and decadent. The sandwiches are a massive value and fresh! coffee is great! All this new stuff has sure to bring in more patrons and that has also made the owner much happier who is providing very inviting hospitality. Thanks McClains!
My first time here. Like the vibe (not too many people, lots of comfy couches). Don't expect gourmet food but it's decent and good price. Great place to study, read. No AC so it can be hot inside.
I have always had good service here and no problems at all with the owner, or any other service staff during any of the times I have come here. I am a regular and I come in about once or twice a week depending on my availability. I have ordered many different things here and they've all been good. Only thing to watch out for is if you don't like an extra helping of cream cheese or butter, know that you will get a very healthy scoop of it on your bagel. Still, I wouldn't call that a compliant as who can complain when you're getting an extra bit of something with your order as opposed to a stingy corporate owned establishment that would barely get your bagel wet. The Pizza Bagels are good as are many of the other items they make. Free wifi with your purchase, comfortable seats both inside and outside plus heaters outside for those brisk days. Games, books, and a crowd that leaves you alone but tends to be cheerful.
I love McClain's, I don't get to go there as often as I would like to but no matter how long I leave for McClain's stays consistent. Great coffee drinks, yummy baked goods, salads & sandwiches & last but not least awesome customer service! Oh, and they're open till 3 am so if you are drinking in DTF, McClain's is a great place to sober up! 😀
All out fantastic place that's open real late. My friends and I come down here to hang and play board games or sometimes study. Owner is very nice so long as you buy something (which is to be expected) atmostphere is great, coffee is fantastic as well as the food she has. I would recommend the cinnamon rolls and the white mocha with whipped cream
Stopped by for an Americano and to wait out traffic after a haircut. I’m glad I did because I love this little place. It kind of feels like an old saloon when you walk in, but it looks like a turn of the century ranch-style house (and I think it may actually be just that). I ordered a veggie wrap and americano. The veggie wrap was very good and came with a Caesar salad. The americano was also very good and went down easy. The girl at the counter was very pleasant and made sure she got my order right and even confirmed that I knew that flavored syrup was a few cents extra. I’ve read some of the reviews on this place and I disagree with most of the negative comments. McClain’s isn’t an upscale, pristine coffee house. It’s an old building and doesn’t try to be anything different. It’s cozy with some old furniture, but very comfortable and has plenty of seating and space. There is also plenty of seating and tables in the front of the building. Parking can be somewhat difficult, but if you go to the back there are some spaces and there is plenty of parking in the residential area on North Street. I’m sure people will complain that it’s too expensive, and it wasn’t cheap. However, in my experience, compared with the major chain coffee places, small coffee houses are pretty much always more expensive. This one wasn’t any different. I’d definitely come back.

Very nice casual coffee shop with good and free internet.
Great coffee and selection of snacks and sandwiches and other items
Great place to hang out or meet with a group for school.
Delicious coffee and an art gallery can't miss it.
Very chill spot to do homework. It does get a little toasty
Great coffee but loud traffic noise
Huge college crowd with lots of interesting people to talk to
One of the last, best, original coffeehouses from the 1990's.
Love this place for quiet contemplation, computer work, artistic atmosphere, tasty beverages and simple sustinence. Friendly staff. Great prices.
Coffee not to bad either! Plus cute nice staff! I'll be back next time I'm in CA.
Decent coffee. Fair prices. Classic rock on the speakers. Not too crowded.
This is a very cool place. It stays open in the early morning hours and the staff is fun and vibrant.
It's a bit run down, but the coffee is good, the music is classic rock, and the internet is fast
Great hours but sleeping dudes were taking up entire couches
Nice indoor and outdoor area to have a great cup of coffee. Drinks are really tasty and staffed with knowledgeable baristas that get you drinks just right. I think smoking is allowed in the outdoor patio area. Noice 👍
hot brown water they call it coffee (the iced coffee is sometimes pretty thick tho) but large smoking patio + late late hours... no early early however. great local art covering the walls, retro couches, dope bathroom, active corkbord.
This is an awesome place and I will always recomend it. Be aware the food is VERY pricy. You are expected to make a purchase even if it's just a cup of coffee, and that is reasonably priced. If you bring outside food or don't make a purchase you are told to leave.
I began to frequent this coffeehouse in High school, Ms McClain loves her business and works very hard to keep it going strong. The coffee is on par with what I expect from a Starbucks drive through, but not exactly what I would consider 'superior'. The food however, is FAN-tastic! My favorite is the turkey sandwich with everything.
I like the artwork and the Funky Furniture also every time I've been in there the people working there have been very nice plus they have Wi-Fi to great place to hang out if you're getting your car washed across the street
Good coffee and a large outdoor patio. Staff is friendly, plenty of supplied board games, and pets are welcome on the patio.
One of the few really classic community coffee houses around that really make you feel like you're in your own home with family and friends. This is the place to go to if you really want to feel a college town atmosphere with students and community coming together to get delicious comfort foods of all kinds, hot or cold. It provides a safe space where you can study online, in a Craftsman like living room with comfy seats lounges from that era, while meeting up with friends, or hangouting with your young married family, bringing your well mannered children who can play cards with you, while others study, smoking in comfort socializing outside, getting into their special interest, whether that be playing cards, gaming, or just quietly reading a good book.
Visiting friends in the area and stopped here for a coffee & muffin. I was pleased with both and liked it enough to stop here again the next day before leaving town. Both young women who waited on me were pleasant and helpful. There is seating outside, but it is so loud with traffic and the car wash across the street that the comfy seats inside made more sense to me. Check the bathroom...it is cleverly decorated.
Seems like people either love or hate this place. I have never had a problem with the staff like others have mentioned .. but I have always bought something even if it was just 2$.. don't go to a locally owned place and not buy something! Great place to study late they provide plenty of plugs for laptops. Great way to get outta the house, don't sit outside if you have a prob with ciggerete smoke tho. But I'm always comfortable here coffee in hand.. I only put 4 cause the brownies seemed a bit stale and the coffee is so-so..
This is pretty much the only coffee shop with a smoker-friendly patio in a 20 mile radius. Tons of outdoor seating, neat vintage interior, mostly college crowd, open until 3am or sometimes like 2am or 1am depends... disrespectful people and non-customers get a swift rude boot so don't bring em round, ya hear?
Until now, I have had a hard time finding a well lit place to work between the hours of 11pm-5am. I ordered the sledgehammer which is 4 shots with steamed half and half ($5). Seating outside served its purpose but I do wish there was just one more heat lamp (or maybe arrange the tables better). As for the smoking patio, it's not a big deal. If you're sensitive then stay home or go somewhere with more indoor seating. But if you're a night owl that just wants to put on some tunes and work, this place will suffice.

I love the chill atmosphere but the drinks have been hit and miss for me.
This place should serve drinks in reusable cups.... Or bring your own cup :)
i come here more for the atmosphere and the people, than the coffee.
Nice patio thats Open to public. WiFi. good place to go on break and relax, just don't order any food.
Service was great. Listening to the car wash across the street while seated outside not so great. Eggs from mix not so great.
Overpriced food items for mediocre quality coffee/drinks. The only advantage to this place is being open till 3AM, nothing more.
The hours and ambiance make this coffee house stand out. I wish the quality of their food and drink and the customer service was better. There's one very nice younger woman who has helped me. The others act as if they're doing you a favor serving mediocre coffee.
Just dropped in for a quick bagel and cream cheese. Was hopping to grab a great cup of coffee but judging by the pump carafes and blank stare I received when asked if they offer "single origin" or "pour over" coffee I opted out.
Drinks are pricey and just ok. Only a few outlets for computers. Smoking is allowed if that's your thing, but some shady people show up here
Awful service, rude staff, $1 for WiFi access and bland coffee.
We went there on a Monday morning before a funeral...there was five of us but we ordered 3 things. When we went to sit down we were told that in order to sit in their EMPTY coffee house that 5 things had to be ordered...but she would let it slide this time. We were literally the only people in there..as a business owner myself I couldn't fathom saying something like that to my customers. It made us so uncomfortable. I wouldn't go there again if I lived in the area! Too rude for my taste!
Great location, hours and atmosphere. some of the staff is a bit rude with their immediate: buy something or leave attitude. Even with that my main gripe is that the coffee is subpar. I have only come here when I desperately need a place to study and am willing to put up with their attitude but unfortunately the coffee has been garbage.
I use to come here because it was the only coffee shop open late. I liked the community art on the wall and the occasional band. However the owner turned out to be rude and the food & coffee were blah.
Although convenient to the local college, service is a bit harsh and unprofessional. Lots of outdoor seating all of which smoking is allowed and it's impossible to escape. It gets stuck between 3 building walls. Would really appreciate a smoke zone on one side and no smoking on the other... food and drinks are fantastic, but the rude service and smoke makes this place very difficult to appreciate.

real rude management there...learn how to treat customers properly or there won’t be anyone visiting. i sure wont be coming back.
Who I think it’s the owner had a really bad attitude and was extremely rude, which ruined the whole experience for me 😬
This place has a very racist and rude owner/ staff, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!
Crusty couches, smells like cigarettes, expensive, rude service, art never changes.
The lady was extremely rude to my entire family. We felt unwelcome. She had a major attitude. Very disappointing.
Horrible coffee, pretty sure it was folger's or something. The lady was pretty rude, didn't even say thank you after I made my purchase. Also customers treat this place more like a bar than a coffee shop. If you are looking for a quiet place to study this isn't the place.
My first impression of this coffee shop was quite awful. Got a regular icediced Coffee and its worse than local Starbucks coffee. It took her 10 seconds to get it ready. faster thanStarbucks hahahaha. One of the workers got mad because a couple of my friends were there studying when they didn't buy anything . Definitely understandable to why she got mad and my friends should've definitely bought something. However it's what she said to her other customers after that really bugged me. I heard her say to the other customers "at least you don't fu*ken come here and just not buy anything " . That's when I decided to give them a 1 star. If youre reading this mam , just wanted to say you have a point in terms of people just loitering around your coffee shop and not buying anything; but, I believe there is a more respectful and more loving way to approach that . By the way yelp reviews says it's 2.5 stars .So something is really off. I'll be the first to give this coffee shop a 1 star. Don't always trust Google.
I came here to get some work done before heading home. I absolutely did nothing, the place was so loud, annoying, people smoking around, and the ladies working there were so annoying. WiFi is not free.
The owner is a racist that made a young girl cry as she was just trying to get situated with her school books and laptop before ordering. I witnessed the whole thing. All day the owner didn't bother other customers (white) as they sat and didn't order anything but the second this young girl of color walks in, the owner came up to her and very rudely told her she had five minutes to order or she would kick her out. The girl stated she fully intended to order and was just getting her things together to study and the owner literally kicked her out. Unbelievable!! I have lived in Fullerton my whole life and I have never witnessed such blatant racism until now. Do NOT support this racist business!! I will be reporting what I witnessed to the better business bureau and other agencies. I will never spend another dime here again. Trust me, the coffee isn't worth it. To the owner: You should be ashamed of yourself. You're what's wrong with society and are truly pathetic for treating a CHILD like that. Disgusting!!
I came here regularly. I came with a friend to get a coffee. It was a ghost town at 12 pm. We were here for about 5 minutes. The owner asked my friend if they were going to get something and if not they needed to leave. This wasn't the first time the owner done this. She can be very hostile. never coming back. They get the brownies from Beverly's Best in Brea. I was told by an employee. ;) Luckly for you I can't give you 0 stars
Ive went to this place and it must have been a joke. Honestly from the overprices sludge they called coffee that they must have mixed with the ashes from their patio, to the lack of customer service or better yet common decency from one human being towards another. I dont recomend anyone let this kind of negativity into their life. Some people might enjoy this abuse much like some people like stepping on glass shards barefoot, but not me and not from this depressing has coffee joint. Im just saying anyone could so Soooo much better then waist money and energy here, trust!
This was a regular studying spot for me during college. .. since it was super cozy and just the perfect ambiance. it was all good till I met the owner. She does not care about her customers and is very unprofessional. She rudely asked me if my friend was getting anything or was just sitting there cause "she's gotta pay the bills" which I didn't care about since it is her business.. but then later on during the night, Her boyfriend was sitting outside , on the table next to us and she in a very rude way asked my friend and I to stop moving... and that we should go either inside or not there. She was very very very very very rude. She treated my friend and I as if we were invading her house, when all we were doing was sitting close to her boyfriend's table and having a cup of coffee while working on our computers. Although that's the only place I know operating at those hours, I have not been back since and refuse to ever go back again. During the winter it gets extremely cold and they don't have enough heaters outside. Also, good luck finding a spot with good lighting
