BASMATI. BRUNCH WITH SOUL, DINER WITH SPICE

Arrived for a late dinner on a weekday evening, the waiter was very polite and took our orders quickly. We shared two meat dishes which I have attached photos of, with two bowls of rice and some naan. The food was brought out quickly and was simply wonderful. The lamb was exquisite. The staff also came around asking if we were satisfied, which is always nice. Please do visit this one for dinner!

Fantastic tasty food with great service. We had the Chicken Thali and Veggie Korma and shared them. The flavours were outstanding!

Best coffee in town. Excellent service. Amazing food. Sunny garden all afternoon. I came back every other day during my stay in Madeira. Felt very welcome and had some lovely conversations with the manager, who gave me recommendations for the island.

Ein kulinarisches Highlight auf Madeira! Wir waren absolut begeistert vom Basmati! Das Essen war hervorragend – authentisch, frisch und voller Geschmack. Jedes Gericht war liebevoll zubereitet und perfekt gewürzt. Besonders das Chicken Mango und die vegetarischen Currys waren ein Gedicht. Der Service war außergewöhnlich freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen. Auch die Atmosphäre ist angenehm ruhig und entspannt, ideal für einen genussvollen Abend. Ein echter Geheimtipp für alle, die indische und nepalesische Küche lieben. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Outdoor seating in one of the most beautiful locations in Funchal. The momo was incredible, as were the Tahli, Lamb Curry, and Chicken Tikka. The staff were nice and attentive without being overbearing like many of the other nearby restaurants. If you like Indian or Nepalese food this place is a must.

Pyszne jedzenie (jedliśmy somosy, momo i jagnięcinę), przesympatyczny szef, dobra obsługa. Dodatkowo punkt ma kącik dla dzieci, więc można chwilkę czymś zająć swoją pociechę :)

Excellent Indian meal. We had Chicken Danzak, Prawn Korahi, shared a rice and Garlin Nan. Asked how spicy we wanted it, medium was fine for us. Will go back next week for sure.

Je moet natuurlijk van deze smaken houden, maar als je dat doet, is het zeker een aanrader! Het eten is heerlijk, het personeel vriendelijk en alles ziet er gezellig en schoon uit! Voor ons, Super!!!!

Une bonne adresse pour bien manger. C'est bon avec un rapport qualité prix plus que correct et il y a beaucoup d'options végétariennes, ce que j'ai grandement apprécié ! L'ambiance est sympa, le service rapide et courtois, merci !

Tasty good quality indian food, great value for money, cozy atmosphere. Kids’ room is great, I haven’t seen anything like this anywhere else on Madeira. Very kind staff and overall a lovely place to visit.

Great place with very welcoming staff and a rich variety of dishes! The tandyr chicken, syrniki, Massala bowl, and cappuccino were absolutely amazing. We truly enjoyed our lunch there and highly recommend it.

O restaurante localiza-se na zona velha da cidade. Há noite é a zona preferida dos adolescentes que se concentram na rua. Espaço novo e bem iluminado com venda de produtos nepaleses e indianos. Foi a primeira vez que experimentei este tipo de culinária. Trouxeram sem pedirmos, gratuitamente um género de hóstia/pão com dois molhos saborosos. Pedimos pratos que não fossem adocicados pois não somos fãs. Um dos pratos foi Chicken Massala, outro também galinha com espinafres e um prato de camarão. Todos os pratos estavam muito saborosos e também picantes, apesar de pedirmos medium. Estamos habituados a picante mas foi suficiente para nós. Por isso se não está habituado, peça pouco picante. Os pratos são na maioria guisados com molho servidos num pequeno recipiente de cobre o arroz é pedido à parte e é variado. Pedimos o simple boiled e um com cogumelos. Muito soltos e agradáveis. No final achámos que devíamos ter pedido em vez de uma das doses de arroz, um prato de vegetais. Se é vegetariano certamente este restaurante é uma boa aposta pois tem uma grande variedade de pratos com e sem arroz para escolher. Oferta de uma pequena poncha e sementes de anis, para mascar após a poncha. Pessoal simpático embora com algumas dificuldades em perceber português. Boa higiene e limpeza dos espaços. Pratos escaldados antes de virem para a mesa. Casas de banho limpas também. ♿ Local acessível a cadeira de rodas. 🅿️ Estacionamento nas proximidades mas possível paragem em frente à porta, para deixar pessoas.

Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing, great team! The draniki were top, perfectly crispy and so tasty. The bowl was both delicious and healthy, with shrimp in a slightly spicy sauce. And the banana beer? Love it! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Great place. I ordered potato pancakes - they were absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside and soft inside. You can tell they use fresh ingredients The staff is very welcoming, and the service is fast - everything was prepared and served quickly The atmosphere is nice and comfortable I definitely recommend this place for brunch, as well as for lunch and dinner.

Wyśmienita kuchnia nepalska i indyjska. Ceny przystępne i podobne do tych w całej okolicy. Niestety dość długi czas oczekiwania. Być może dlatego że byliśmy w cztery osoby i każda zamówiła co innego jednak całość była podana w tym samym czasie.

Excelente qualidade e serviço! Tem pratos maravilhosos, sem picante e muito saborosos. Vale mesmo a pena experimentar. Se a porta estiver fechada vão logo abaixo ao lado da pizaria, eles estão lá tambem.

Chá a finalizar, excelente ideia. Comida muito interessante, nada de arroz, os "pães" para comer com a mão são mesmo o ideal.

Comida incrível! Uma pérola no Funchal.

We visited BASMATI and ordered from the brunch menu. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. A very big plus is the dedicated kids’ room, which is full of different toys and games. Our child loved it, and it made the experience much more relaxed and enjoyable for us as parents. Overall, a wonderful place with great food, a lovely atmosphere, and very family-friendly. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it.

New year's eve dinner, hardly a place to seat for 2 without reservation! Fine food but the price was quite too high for what you get. The small portion sauces for the famous nun were almost all liquids - sign of wrong saving if you want to impress. Also, main dishes come with no rice or nun. The basmati rice was very good. The service was good and fast considering the occupancy. Overall good.

Tika masala skani, maistas nera astrus. Labai malonus aptarnavimas, jauki aplinka. Ivertinciau 4,5 balu.

Waren hier zum Abendessen - an sich ein ganz gutes Lokal mit moderaten Preisen und hervorragendem Service. Essen war ganz gut, Portionen leider nicht ganz so groß. Zudem müssen alle Beilagen extra bestellt werden da sie nicht im normalen Preis inklusive sind. Das gilt nicht fürs thali wo papadam und Reis dabei sind inkl 3 Gerichten. Hatten die veg kofta und ein veganes thali.

It’s tough to give a 5 for food when we’ve had amazing curries elsewhere. But the service and help with tasting wines before choosing a bottle meant a 5 was earned for service. When I asked for my lamb saag as hot, I knew I’d taken a gamble, but it was exactly right. I’d go again, but my guilt at having an Indian, on a Portuguese island will stop me.

Food and service is ok. However, their menu labels are misleading. We order the "king prawns" dish. It's named king prawns and its price is significantly higher than other. However, all what we got are small to medium size shrimps, 9 pieces to be exact.

Estar na minha terra e ter que falar inglês com os colaboradores porque não falavam Português. Não gostei.

If I could give zero rating that would fit this restaurant. Worst food i ever had in my life, order chicken tikka tasteless and butter chicken came with chat masala. Never going here again.
