Great place for a bigger breakfast than just a pastry or coffee. Wonderful service, waiter took his time to explain colloquialisms on menu we were confused about. Even offered to make substitutions to our selections, like scrambled eggs versus fried. Food was very good, simple and sufficient. Would come back again.

Fantástico café en pleno centro de Gijón. Atención excelente y precio acorde a dicho servicio.El local es amplio , distinguido, luminoso y muy limpio. La decoración sencilla y cuidada en un edificio singular de la Plazuela de San Miguel en la esquina de la calle Ruiz Gómez. Quizás uno de los edificios más hermosos de Gijón. Los pinchos son elaborados y sus desayunos muy buenos. Para repetir.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great find! I'd almost forgotten about cafes/restaurants with a really comprehensive menu that includes sandwiches and combination plates in addition to the usual fare. Add to that the fact that the food was delicious and the prices reasonable, and you have a place worth visiting. But on top of all that, the service was outstanding. We were served by two very professional, friendly, and attentive women. We'll definitely be back.

The truth is that the food (the daily special) and the tapas that come with the drinks are very good, but it's too much work for the waitresses. They can't offer better service, which understandably leads them to be in a bad mood at times.

We had a beer on Monday and the free tapa they serve is amazing (a picadillo and fried egg sandwich with fries). Three drinks for €8.50, tapa included.

Located right next to Plazuela San Miguel, this is a good place to eat the daily menu. The price-performance ratio is among the best in the area. I had a daily menu with two dishes, water, and dessert for 14 euros.

Great place for a few beers and tapas. Good location, good food. There's only one waitress who's overwhelmed with orders. We'll definitely be back! We ordered the chicken and bacon skillet with Greek sauce and the Italian and cured beef toasts with cheese.

Good and cheap. A good place to grab a drink, snack, ration, or even eat something. I had dinner there several days and ate one. The food is fine, a good, complete, and affordable menu (during the week), but the cachopo... a bit off the mark, to be honest. Dinner is different; you can order mixed drinks, portions, pinchos, toasts, casseroles, cans!... And in general, everything is delicious; it's made to order for you; the cook on duty is a decent hand, and they also give you a pincho with your drink, made by them, which is appreciated. Of all the highlights, I'd highlight the spring toast with sirloin, apple, raisins, and pine nuts. The meat was very well cooked, juicy and flavorful, and it tasted like something it should. The apple, treated in some way so it wasn't hard, could be cut with a knife like flan, and the size of the toast was nice. The pinchos were also good value, perfect hunger-suppressants if you don't want to eat a big dinner (which is appreciated here in Asturias). Overall, it's a good place to grab a bite to eat and then zip off to Cimadevilla. I've been back, and I'll be back.

It was a very unpleasant experience eating here. My partner and I went for the set menu. There were two waitresses. One brunette and one blonde. Unfortunately, we got the brunette waitress, who I think is named Lucia. She served us in a super rude manner, without a smile, rushing us. Every time we asked for something, she frowned and took half an hour to bring it. And when she brought it to us, she always did so with a very bad face. When we asked for the menu, she told us the options in a horrible way and rushed us. To make matters worse, she started insulting and yelling at her coworker in the middle of the room, calling her stupid. The other poor girl had to go outside and cry because it was horrible. The waiter at the bar also called her out. Afterwards, we went to pay the bill, and she was standing in the middle of the aisle (I hadn't realized). This young lady said, "I'll pass," and pushed me. She didn't even deign to apologize. I'd never been treated so badly. I've never seen someone so unprofessional, so extremely rude, aggressive, and unsociable. The food was good, but after that spectacle, we won't be returning because we don't want to be treated badly. Of course, we asked for a complaint form so they can take action because it was all deplorable.

Not sure what to say. The girl serving had a face like thunder but to be honest it was her and am elderly guy working the whole place. That's not right. Service was poor because of that and that's why the girl was not happy. This happens all to often in Spain. The service and food suffer because of a selfish greedy owner. I might be wrong but I don't think so. By the way the cachopo was poor. That's not good for an Asturian place. What s pity because it had the potential to good. It was recommended to us by a little old lady, a lovely person who had just arrived for dinner. Bless her. If she enjoys it we'll that's great.

Hace años que acudía a este bar/restaurante, el cual, a mí parecer, era de los mejores en la ciudad en relación calidad/precio. Acudimls el mes pasado tras un par de años sin ir y la verdad es que me decepcionó mucho. El trato de la camarera en mesa, no sabía lo q había en carta y poco menos q me miró con soberbia como si tuviese yo la culpa, aseguraba q no había lo q la pedía con enfado hasta q se lo enseñé varias veces en la carta. Ni disculpas ni nada, se fue sin decir nada. Estaba la mesa bastante sucia, ella misma quitó un trozo de comida de los anteriores cuando estábamos pidiendo, pero aun así seguía bastante sucia de forma evidente. De forma amable la solicito si sería tan amable de limpiar la mesa, siendo su respuesta con malas formas "¡si la acabo de limpiar!", la señaló tooodo lo sucio, se va con mala cara Y vuelve Y pasa una balleta amarilla q dejó un olor apestoso. Se fue con aires de enfado y prepotencia. Y al dejar la vuelta igual, deja el plato con la devolución y se da media vuelta con mala cara sin decir nada. La comida bastante peor q años anteriores, e incluso fría. En fin. Ah, y las botellas de agua, de rosca y abiertas el tapón de par en par nos las trajeron. Por si sirve de ayuda, la camarera era morena de pelo largo, parecía de América del Sur.

Hoy vivimos una situación sin precedentes…fuimos testigos de cómo la chica morena se puso a gritar en el medio del salón y empezó a faltarle el respeto una y otra vez a la otra camarera , en un momento se puso a empujárla solamente por el hecho que le reclamó algo de una mesa…estuvimos a punto de levantarnos e irnos porque no damos crédito a lo que estamos viendo y oyendo…es de no creer que el dueño permite a una persona así que trabaje en su local…respeto a su respuesta igual no está informado bien, porque el problema fue con la chica morena, la otra pobre no tiene la culpa , ademas yo por parte de ella no vi que le faltase el respeto ni nada de eso, sería una pena que pierdera su trabajo por culpa de la otra!! Gracias

I have to leave this review because of the owner. In front of customers, he was rudely reprimanding the employees, which I told him I didn't think was right, especially since his reaction to the employees was inappropriate. First, he told me he'd done it "in private," and when I said I'd heard him, meaning it wasn't private at all, he replied something like, "Mind your own business." Well, even though you didn't know me, I order takeout every week, and I've had a drink at the bar three times now. I was starting to feel comfortable, and the staff is generally friendly, but it's clear the owner doesn't care about losing customers. Oh! And the "the customer is always right" thing only applies if you're complaining about the employees, not the boss. 😉
