I absolutely LOVE this Restaurant!!! Cute, sexy, intimate Italian restaurant located in the heart of Sea Cliff. I am here at least once a week especially for their Pasta Tuesdays (half off pasta)! The menu is quite small at the same time, they have different specials each week. The Special Veal Appetizer they had was exquisite as well as the Spaghetti Carbonara. Meatballs and Arancini are pretty decent, and the Eggplant Parmigiana is delightful. Although this is one of my favorite places to eat in the area, I do wish they had some more authentic Italian options. Each drink is made to perfection, my go to would be the espresso martini! The staff is knowledgeable and accommodating always have their best face on with great spirit! The prices are pretty high up there so dont come with a cheap mindset! I would also advise that if you are going on a weekend to make a reservation as they do fill up fairly quickly.
Superb food and service. Romantic and cozy old fashioned ambiance. Spinach goat cheese salad was spot on and prepared healthy, Eggplant parm was spot on, and pastas had a ton of flavor! Exceptional restaurant.
Exceptional Food!! Fantastic Ambiance. My Go To place when Im staying local.. Job Well Done Pino 🇮🇹
Such a beautiful restaurant and an awesome vibe. The food is great too, the black ink linguini and meatballs were unreal. Loved the pear cactus margarita too!

227 Tavern is one of our favorite restaurants in Sea Cliff. The atmosphere feels like a true neighborhood tavern you’d find in Manhattan or Brooklyn—and as someone who lived in Manhattan for over two decades, I say that with confidence. It’s pretty much our Friday night spot—one of those places where everyone knows our name and our cocktail! Amanda and her team are always ready for us. A Manhattan is served almost before we order. The regular menu does not change, but there’s always a special fish and meat dish with a different twist each week, along with rotating appetizer specials that keep things interesting. We love their Tuesday night half-price pasta and usually rotate between the cacio e pepe, bolognese, and orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sweet Italian sausage. It’s honestly hard to pick a favorite—but as someone who never used to enjoy sausage, that dish has become one of my top choices. If you’re stopping in just for a cocktail or a glass of wine with a few appetizers, you can’t go wrong with the Salumi & Formaggi plate. It’s perfect for sharing and very reasonably priced. One of our must-order favorites is the Roman-style fried artichokes. We also love the pop-up special appetizers—most recently the mussels and baked clams… yum! Our typical meal is an appetizer, a pasta, and the meat or fish special, all shared family-style the Italian way—and at 227 Tavern, we truly feel like family and you will too!
Came here with my kids. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of taste of the food. Appetizers and mains were really good. Light on the desert menu. Will come back
Best Italian spot we’ve been to on LI since moving here from Brooklyn. It has not been easy finding food that’s comparable to the city the past few years my family has lived here. We thought we’d try venturing out to Sea Cliff which is a super cute area and check this place out and I must say, we were not disappointed. Pastas were great, cocktails were delicious, meatballs and Brussel sprouts were on point. Food was 10/10. Service was awesome, fast and very friendly. Atmosphere had a dark but cool vibe. Overall, loved it! Looking forward to going back soon!
5 of my best friends and I recently had a great dinner here. Nice atmosphere, great service, and amazing food!
From the food, atmosphere and the hospitality this tavern is the spot to come hang out! Big thanks to our bartender Jake for making our drinks and serving us!! delicious ol fashion's & espresso martinis.
Went on Saturday. All around amazing. Matt was great and his drinks were some of the best I've ever had! Host was awesome and the waitstaff was great. The Rice balls are absolutely the best I've ever tasted. The meatballs and buratta were great. Overall, an amazing time and well worth it. See you soon.
The chicest spot in Sea Cliff! My friends and I love going into the city for good vibes and good food, but when we are too lazy we come to Tavern! It’s a slice of the big city in Sea Cliff! The vibes are immaculate. The service? Fabulous. The food… INCREDIBLE. HIGHLY recommend the orecchiette and the bolognese! Actually and the cacio è pepe! Honestly, there’s not a bad thing on the menu, place is so delicious. Also if you love an amaro, this is the spot. They also make a bangin’ margarita! Can’t recommend this spot enough!
First time to this great little gem on the main drag in Sea Cliff. Wonderful staff all around. Phoebe took great care of getting us a great table and the servers are terrific. The menu is innovative and the food is very good and fresh. Clean delicious flavors. The crostini trio and little crispy cheesy rice cakes were our selections for apps and excellent. I had their signature salad and it was great. The eggplant parm looked really good and it was being served all around us. Look forward to my next time there.
Amazing Italian food, adorable atmosphere, and also makes the best arancini I’ve ever had. My favorite spot in town for a date night, incredibly inviting owners, staff & bartenders! Best place in town, also a chic choice for a small event!
First time there for private gathering. Of course, a bit different than typical sit-down. However, the service and food was top shelf. They started with a cold platter of meat and cheese. Then, the beef sliders arrived along with ribs and meat balls marinara. Shortly after they had a table with sliced steak, Papardelle pasta, chicken rolls and chicken franchise. I tried everything except the ribs and franchise. All was excellent. If this experience is anything like a typical day there you will not be disappointed. The place is vintage, bar one side, tables on the other. It's cozy but that adds to the charm. I cannot comment on price because we did not order from the menu.
My favorite restaurant on Long Island!! Everything is perfect. The atmosphere is so warm and cozy. Reminds me of living in Brooklyn. I bring all my friends and visitors here.

Tavern style bar and eatery with big ideas. Menu is eclectic with wagyu meatballs, a crisp roast chicken and fingerling potatoes, or a tender 12oz steak, which arrives sliced. All are terrific. The food is much better than you might expect, and the atmosphere and service are pleasant and unfussy.
not a bad word to say about this place. Service is impeccable, food is excellent and more importantly consistent and the bar is solid. There is only one other spot on Earth i like the cacio e Pepe better and that is high praise for 227

I don't usually post reviews about restaurants but I'm going to start now. I don't like being rushed out of my seat before I had a chance to enjoy my food. The service was very good the waitress was very nice and attentive, maybe too much so. We barely finished our appetizer they we're already asking if we were finished. There was still food left on the plate and they wanted to clear it. I'm tired of going to restaurants and being rushed out. The meal wasn't cheap, I don't mind spending money on a good meal if I get a chance to enjoy it. It was my wife's birthday dinner and we were there barely over an hour. They got us out in record time giving them more profit but at what cost. I will not be returning. It's a shame, I did like the food.

Overpriced food. Not prepared well. Short menu.
Steer Clear of this place! - It's confusing so many people are giving "positive reviews", in fact i don't EVER recall seeing SO MANY 5 star reviews for any place I've ever been. Based on my experience I have to believe most of them are not real. Menu on the web is a cornucopia of american favorites, once in the place the menu is roughly 2 dozen grossly overpriced fairly unrecognizable items (2 Arancini appetizer, each one roughly 2 times the size of a Hershey's kiss - $13???). When asked why they were advertising food they didn't serve the reply was "we haven't updated the web yet". (First time I've eaten in a tavern that didn't have burgers) The place has all the ambiance of a high school cafeteria, one long table against a built in bench along the wall. Very loud and almost impossible to relax and have a conversation. Food was only OK, certainly not worth the prices that sea cliff can command - far better can be found elsewhere for less. Staff was excellent. Bread had the consistency of a sponge you would wash your car with.
