Wow first time at this German iconic staple in Queens. Seriously felt like I was eating in Munich

Always a good time! The food is delicious and authentic, the service is always fantastic, and the beer selection is expansive. I recommend the Bayerische Bauern Platte and the Jagerschnitzel as entrees, the goulash soup is always a must-have as a starter. They used to have the best open faced Reuben on their menu, holding out hope that they bring it back one day! 🤞🏽

This restaurant serves GREAT German food. I've been coming here for over twenty years and every visit, the food is delicious and a great value. There are countless German beers on tap to accompany your meal, and so many classic German favorites. This trip, I got a cup of the Gulaschsuppe (pictured), which is always amazing, and for my main I had the Wienerschnitzel which was enormously sized and quite delicious. I don't have a picture of it because I was too eager to start eating it! Seriously, Zum Stammtisch is a wonderful place to enjoy a fantastic German meal. The service is great! I would very highly recommend!

I just went there for the first time over the weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday. We walk in and the everything in the restaurant - from the wooden doors to the taxidermy to the cultural dresses the waitresses wear - transported us to a different world. We shared a kaesespaetzle and both got the jaegerschnitzel and the food was delicious. The jaegerschnitzel portion was huge! I'm a big guy so normally when I go to a restaurant and split an appetizer and get an entree, I'll walk out thinking that I'm still a bit hungry - not here! Our waitress was attentive and came over a number of times to make sure everything was OK. She also asked if we wanted to move to a more spacious seating arrangement after we were initially placed at a small table. That alone meant a bump in the tip. This place is a bit of an adventure to get to, but it's worth it. We'll definitely be back.

This is one of my favorite local spots but it's not just a local spot it's an institution Can't go wrong with anything you order here huge portions great selection of beers, All the bartenders and wait staff are always so accommodating ,it's It is definitely a New York City must! They also have a bar menu. One of my favorites is the roast beef sandwich. That's what's pictured here.

Zum Stammtisch ist super! It is a delicious, family-owned place to get traditional Bavarian fare. Definitely plan a trip on an empty belly to fully indulge in schnitzels and wursts. And save room for desert - the desert coffee menu is supreme and they even have Black Forrest Cake with sour cherries. Definitely worth stopping in their little store next door as well - lots of little potato dumplings, mustards, puddings and beer that are almost impossible to find at a typical NYC grocer. A traditional delight that will take you back to the motherland.

What can I say that hasn't been said before? Obviously the food and service was great. Of course the place looks fantastic. But what I really liked was that my wife enjoyed herself. She was very happy to have a lunch date in an old school restaurant. P.S. The beer is killer!!!

Came here with my friend on 9/5/21 for dinner. We both were welcomed by a tall blonde hair male host that sat us at our table, a nice guy! We were checked upon by different servers until our server come to our table, lovely woman! We started off with our drinks I had the German mule it was very nice, a lovely refreshing drink! Then we ordered appetizers, got the big bravarian pretzel which was remarkable with the 3 different dipping mustards & horseradish, the german salad plate which consists of carrot, coleslaw, cucumber, beet salads, very delicious! Then we tried the cheesy spatzle topped with bacon & crispy onions, remarkable! Then we ordered our entrees, both of us had the Jagersnitzle which was absolutely delicious, a large veal cutlet fried until crisp served with a rich mushroom gravy over crispy fried German potatoes, remarkable! Then I concluded the evening with a slice of the the famous black forest cake, this cake is life changing! So amazingly delicious! As a Culinarian & Foodie this establishment represents the exceptional quality in fine German cuisine! Highly Recommended!

Best German food! A couple of times a month we come here and stock up on German food and this is the best German food in town. It has been here for many years. Everything is fresh and delicious with a nice variety of meats, side dishes, breads, salads and desserts. There is a nice selection of German beer too! It's one stop shopping. The German potato salad and cucumber salad is to die for! Don't forget the potato pancakes too! Crispy delicious goodness!

Always Love it here. Authentic German food. Enormous portions. Always delicious. From the Bread to the end of dessert you will salivate. Usually always get potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce but they don't serve them on the weekends. So so so good!

Amazin place with German food in Glendale. Great as always! Sirloin steak rules, snitzels of many kind are also excellent choice (veal, pork, chicken). A great sellection of side dishes, such as creamed spinach. Beer sellection of German beers is also astonishing. Excellent service, decent prices, genuine German draft beer, Weichenstephaner is my choice. On Sundays they serve duck and prime rib. Apple strudel with vanilla icecream is a must.

I loved the food even though it’s my first time eating German food normally I’m a little skeptical trying new things, the staff is lovely. I ordered the famous chicken with mushrooms and a magnificent baylies coffee so yummy. The price is ok compared to the portion size. Thanks

Walk through the swinging doors and you’re transported to a German lodge. Had the goulash, jägerschnitzel, and the beer flight. A ton of food for us (2 people). Didn’t have room for the stammtisch coffe which means we have to come back. Good price, nice vibe.

This is the most authentic German food you can eat in the city! They give you a hot lloaf of sour rye just for being there and it only gets better. The marinated herring in sour cream was perfect. The baked spatzle was creamy and cheesy. The head cheese was tasty and refreshing. I have eaten the entrée in the past and they are all good and interesting.

Zum Stammtisch cures all ailments. Despite German cuisine's reputation for being meat-heavy, the food is surpringly light. It's all about the fresh ingredients and the skillful chef. Everything on the menu is made perfectly. No notes. Zum is a Queens treasure.

This is an old-school German/American restaurant. It brings you back to a different time. The Jaeger schnitzel was delicious. You can't go wrong with the steak tartare, it's always spot on. It's just a great place! (Jan 2024 update) The Christmas goose was spectacular! The sausage plate with saurkraut, red cabbage, Jaeger schnitzel, and dark hefeweizen were delicious! Another great meal!

I tried many German restaurants in USA but mostly it wasn’t authentic. Finally I could try this place and was so happy to eat real German food with German mustard(senf). It’s a little bit far from Manhattan but I’ll visit soon again. Pretzel(brezel) with mustard(senf), Sausages (Würste) with sauerkraut and potato salad (Kartoffelsalat), schnitzel with German beer were great!! Es war sehr schön und lecker!! Ich war zufrieden.

This is a terrific authentic German restaurant in Brooklyn. It has a very nice German beer selection, as well as all your favorite German food. The portions are large and the food excellent!!! No wonder it’s received so many great write ups. The restaurant was a bit dark inside so please pardon the food photos. I’d definitely eat here again.

When it comes to getting a German experience in Queens, this place is where it’s at. They have a lot of options one can choose from, I personally have a chicken cutlet, home fries, and some of their pretzel with mustard, and I find those items to bring a party to my tastebuds. The inside of the restaurant is also German themed which shows how they’ve truly been passionate about the country and that’s great as the place is pleasing to me aesthetically. As a New Yorker, we don’t get to see as much German restaurants compared to the past as the German population has declined here. So, if you’re visiting New York and you happen to be close by, what do you have to lose? This place is one of the different gems to be found on Myrtle Avenue in Glendale.

Old School. Quality German food, beers, and service. *The 2024 Christmas Goose Dinner was absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Flavorful, juicy, and quite filling....but we still had room for desserts 'n coffee.... My family raved about the food, decor, and service. A Great Spot for Holiday Get-togethers!!! Fabulous Hunter's style Wienerschnitzel; Delectable Veal Cordon Bleu. All served with Scrumptious Home Fries/Dumplings. Probably the Best Burger in NYC!!! I always choose the Swisscheese Burger with Warmed German Potato Salad, 'n Pickels. Goes down great with the large selection of German Beers. Nice Dessert choices. Try a Berliner WeissBier with a dollop of Raspberry Syrup. Big Tourist/European crowd, as well as the hierarchies of the NYPD, & FDNY. These guys know where to Eat 'n Drink!!! I've been a customer since 1990....I'm Table # 11. Tell 'em MR. BIG RED sent ya.....you'll thank me later. P. S. Donald Trump's father brought him here as a child when they lived in Jamaica Estates.

Old-world charm, serious comfort food, and flavors that hit you right in the soul—Zum Stammtisch is a true NYC gem. Tucked away in Glendale, this classic German spot is everything you want in a cozy, kitschy, and utterly authentic dining experience. We came hungry and left in a full-on food coma (no regrets). The Jaegerschnitzel—a tender breaded veal cutlet bathed in earthy mushroom and veal stock sauce—was absolute perfection. The Goulash Soup? Rich, hearty, and soul-warming—truly the best in the world. We shared the Bayerische Bauern Platte, a carnivore’s dream loaded with bratwurst, krainerwurst, knockwurst, tangy sauerkraut, and creamy potato salad—every bite packed with flavor. For dessert, the Apple Strudel with ice cream was the warm-and-cold combo of dreams, and the Black Forest Cake brought all the rich, chocolatey cherry vibes. Washed it all down with strong, fragrant German coffee—a perfect end to an unforgettable meal. If you're craving a hearty, comforting feast in a place that feels like a Bavarian postcard, Zum Stammtisch is where you need to be. #ZumStammtisch #GermanFoodNYC #QueensEats #JaegerschnitzelHeaven #GoulashSoupGoals #NYCFoodie #OldSchoolEats #FoodieInTheBigApple2025 #BlackForestCakeLove #GlendaleQueens

Went for the first time after I've wanted to go for so long. One of the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant. The food are amazing the portions are huge. Very authentic. We've ordered Sauerbraten, Jägerschnitzel, Käsespätzle and Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte. Also got some beer and Weißwurst from their grocery store. Outstanding, will go again!

Lovely service, generous portions, some very traditional choices, and nice atmosphere. Restaurant was full, with the Stammtisch crowd in the back room as well. Try the chocolate ice cream with Eierlikoer for dessert... Hard to find in the US unless you make it yourself.

I went to a Sunday afternoon dinner with my girlfriend and some friends . To start I had the goulash soup which was absolutely delicious. We also has the German herring salad very tasty. For entree I had the roast loin of pork with mashed potatoes, gravy, and sauerkraut which was just like my Hungarian grandmother used to make terrific!! My friend had the roast duck which he devoured happily and the ladies had the chicken special which was also fantastic. We had some drinks and coffee and some liqueurs we were not rushed and the service was great. Total bill for 4 was a little under $400 but well worth it. The place could use an updating but apparently it's been that way for over 50 years so I guess it works. This is the 2nd time I've been there and will definitely go again

This place is an institution in New York. A German eatery. We came here today on a rainy Thursday and it was already packed. The decorations are top notch and worth admiring at length (like a museum) and the seating is spartan, booths and tables. The menu is clearly explained with the cusine translation of German to English right on the menu. We had lentil soup, it was soft and tasty, with ham chunks, I could eat this for days. The big pretzel was not over cooked and nice and warm with 3 sauces. Next came the stuffed cabbage, it tastes much better than it looks. The Jaggerschnitzel was huge and yummy, the gravy and mushrooms went great with the bed of home fries. Gotta come back for dessert!!!

The best go-to German restaurant around. From the great appetizers ( favorites are the steak tartar and the Mac n cheese) to the incredibly large and delicious entrees no other German restaurant compares. Favorite entrees include the Wiener / jaeger schnitzel, or the assorted brats. Large list of German beers. Great German ambience. Been coming here for years and will be going back for years to come.

During our delightful visit to Zum Stammtisch, my friend opted for the duck with mashed potatoes, while I indulged in the sirloin steak. The culinary journey took an exquisite turn as the duck, perfectly prepared, showcased a harmonious blend of tenderness and flavorful richness. The mashed potatoes, a comforting side, complemented the duck impeccably. As for the sirloin steak, it was a masterpiece of culinary finesse. Cooked to perfection, each bite was a symphony of succulence and robust flavors. The presentation was impeccable, and the steak retained its juiciness, making every cut a delight for the palate. What truly enhances the coziness is the attention to detail. Soft background music creates a soothing backdrop to conversations, and the well-chosen decor elements contribute to a sense of familiarity. The staff's demeanor adds to the inviting atmosphere, making you feel not just like a guest but a welcomed friend. As you enjoy your delectable dishes, you can't help but appreciate the cozy nooks that provide a sense of privacy amidst the communal dining space. The combination of warm aesthetics, thoughtful design, and attentive service transforms Zum Stammtisch into a cozy retreat—a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to relish each moment in comfort and style.

This place is absolutely lovely! I felt like i was in a traditional German home. I was greeted and seated right away. I love the small wooden chairs, the interior was so beautiful and the wait staff was dressed in traditional German attire. The bread was so good with butter, hands down the best bread I have tasted thus far!!!! The goulash soup was really good! There was a very wide range of beers on the drink menu, I was a bit hesitant to visit because of other reviews about not feeling welcome! I felt like family at the end of my dinner! It was truly an amazing experience for me, will definitely visit again. Did I mention how great the bread was? Lol…..

Is there six stars to give? I've been going there since I was a teenager in the late seventies until i moved from NY in 1999. Saturday night my wife and I were in NY and we stop in for dinner. As usual the place was packed and it was an hour wait. So we took a place at the bar and had dinner. This place is amazing, nothing has changed. The food, the drink, and the atmosphere is the same from the first time I walk in. We are making plans to take our family to NY and this will one of the first places we eat. Thank you Zum Stammtisch for all the memories.

My husband and I came here for a way overdue date night. We ordered the goulash, large pretzel, Jaegerschnitzel, the chicken version of the Jaegerschnitzel and the apple strudel. Oh my goodness. It was delicious, stick to your rib, warm up your tummy comfort food. The hostess and servers were so kind. My husband and I have not experienced service like that in years. The crowd was a very lively crowd. We really liked the atmosphere. Kudos to the whole establishment especially the chef and the kitchen staff that prepared the food with LOVE.

The decor of this place is something out of another era, a mix of old German with whimsical touches throughout. The lighting highlights these touches and there are plenty of booths to give you a touch of privacy to appreciate the ambiance. The food itself was impeccable, tasty, and came out quickly. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Parking is hit and miss, you might need to circle for awhile to secure a spot. If you're looking for great German food you've found the right place!

You know it's legit when it smells like my grandma's basement (in a good way)! Though it's a little out of the way (it took 2 trains and 2 buses to get here from Manhattan), it's well worth the trek. You're far enough away from the city that the prices aren't egregious and the portions are healthy. Just walking in, you're surrounded by authentic German decor and it feels as if you've been transported directly to a restaurant in Germany. In 1880. The staff is so genial and happy to help with menu questions. We were pleased with all the German options, though my date had to order a collection of sides because that was nearly the only vegetarian choice. But the waitress was very willing to let us make the necessary substitutions and alterations to the menu to make it work, which was very sweet. I got the chicken schnitzel a la Holstein (fried egg on top) and got a little anchovy on top of the egg as a happy surprise! Everything came out and we immediately realized our eyes were larger than our stomachs because the portions are huge! I stuffed myself silly because everything was so tasty, but alas I couldn't finish it. And that's high praise. Sadly, we were so full that we couldn't order dessert, but the options looked great! We'll for sure try to make the pilgrimage back if we have a free evening in the future. And you should too! Guten Appetit!

Old-school, authentic, and consistently excellent — this is hands-down one of the best German restaurants in NYC. It feels like stepping into a traditional German dining room, not a trendy imitation. The food is always spot-on with hearty portions, classic recipes, and flavors that never miss. Everything tastes exactly the way it’s supposed to. If you’re looking for real German cuisine in the city, this place is a must-visit. Don’t miss it!

Glendale is a pretty barren area when it comes to good eats, but Zum Stammtisch is definitely a diamond in the rough. A neighborhood staple for over 50 years; I have been here over 20 times in my 15 years of living in Glendale and never had a bad meal or bad service. Known for their traditional German fare, I opted for the prime rib - which at $52, seemed a bit heavy handed, but was worth every penny. I got a very generous portion of meat that was cooked to perfection, with two sides. The waitresses are always very pleasant and the service is top notch all around.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. It reminds me of my grandmother's and mother's cooking so to me it was very authentic. The staff were excellent. Our waitress was very nice and fun. I think the prices are very reasonable. You have to try the steak tartar and the herring in cream sauce. For entree, I tried all my friends dishes and everything was excellent, especially the jagarschnitzel. Unfortunately the Pork Knuckle was out, or I would have ordered that. One of my highest ratings in a long time. Go here immediately.

Zum Stammtisch is a great spot. The food’s hearty and full of flavor — the schnitzel and sausages were excellent. Big portions and cold beer make it even better. The place has a warm, old-school vibe and friendly service. Feels like a classic neighborhood spot. I’ll definitely be back.

There are so many different dishes, you gotta come here multiple visits to try it all. Can't go wrong with getting Snitzel and a nice cold beer. Tried Käsespätzle for the first time, and that was a great appetizer. If anything, be ready to take a doggie bag home because of their big portions. Always leaving full and happy.

A Glorious Journey to Old-World Germany!!! Walking into Zum Stammtisch in Brooklyn feels like stepping through a time portal straight into a warm, wood-paneled tavern nestled deep in Bavaria or something. The ambiance is MAGICAL!!! Every detail, from the carved dark wood to the vintage beer steins lining the shelves, feels designed to transport you far from modern-day NYC and into a cozier, more charming world. It’s not themed, it’s immersive and authentic, like a love letter to another place and time. The wait staff are great: attentive and genuinely friendly. Foodwise, every dish we tried was satisfying and hearty. The standout was, suprisingly, the potato salad. I never thought I’d write the words “life-changing potato salad,” and yet here we are. It was tangy, creamy, perfectly textured...I'm still thinking about it days later. It also feels old world in pricing! Definitely a great deal for all the food, and ambiance. It’s the kind of place you tell your friends about and bring out-of-towners to to flex on them a little bit. Can’t wait to go back!

Great place, amazing food. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and absolutely tender and delicious. Great selection of beers, I really enjoyed the warsteiner pilsner. Can't wait to go back!

I was back in the neighborhood and able to stop into Zum Stammtisch. My father used to take us and other family members here as frequently as we could. We often would see Aurora. Tonight, in memory of Dad, Mom and I came in for dinner. The waitress was lovely. I ordered rieslingschnitzel, which is veal schnitzel in a light riesling and mushroom gravy, I had the creamed spinach with it and the schnitzel was served over deliciously crisp home fries. Mom got the jägerschnitzel with the traditional darker mushroom gravy and also the creamed spinach. I wanted something a little different for a beverage so I got the coffee that has brandy in it. In the past, I’ve also had their goulash soup, which is a favorite for all and their potato pancakes. I’m so sorry the pork store has closed next door, I enjoyed going there as well. A few helpful hints for those who have yet to try this neighborhood icon, they take cash and card, they’re closed on Mondays, parking is hard to come by so get here earlier and prepare accordingly. Also, they close at 10pm however, their kitchen closes at 9pm, so to get a meal, you’ll need to be in before then.

Zum Stammtisch is a true gem that has earned its place as our top choice for family dinner. Every other week, we eagerly return to savor their delectable and fresh cuisine, soak up the warm atmosphere, and enjoy their impressive selection of beers. The kids menu is a thoughtful touch, offering a range of wholesome options reminiscent of European traditions. With its seamless service, this restaurant consistently exceeds our expectations, leaving us feeling inspired and already looking forward to our next visit.

Another fabulous meal and wonderful dining experience at Zum Stamtisch! We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the place was filled, but within a half hour we were seated. Cold Hofbrau beers to start, followed by my 2 favorites, the Deutscher Salat and the kaiserspatzle. You can not go wrong with either. The special on this day was bone in goose with homemade stuffing and we had to try it! Amazing!! As this was our first time having goose, we do did not know what to expect. It tasted similar to turkey but not exactly. We did not find it gamey at all, it was moist and flavorful. The stuffing was the perfect pairing and it tasted phenomenal. The red cabbage was sooo darned good. Apple strudel for dessert. Service was quick, friendly and on point. Really such a lovely place to gather, relax and enjoy some German cuisine. Very clean restrooms downstairs. On street parking.

This place I got recommended by my co-worker and my friend celebrate with me for my birthday. Good atmosphere as soon as I walked in. Surprisingly during the lunch there are two other tables having a birthday lunch too. The food are so comforting and the waitress are so nice, we’re having difficulty ordering and she’s nice enough to let us have the sampling the sauce so we know what to get. They got a good selection of beers. There’s a shop next to them and sell sausage, beer, snacks. Will come back another day

The food, apps and entrees, were absolutely delicious. The service... was inconsistent. I feel like we got the waitress that's worked there for 40 years and you're just going to get the service that you get and nothing above and beyond. We noticed that she was significantly more attentive and friendlier with other groups aside from us. She warmed up towards the end when she gave us our check. Naturally. We ordered the apple strudel for dessert and were surprised at how quickly it came out. We realized because it had been microwaved. So the strudel flaky crust was not flaky or crusty at all. It was warm and soggy. And tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for a day or two. We will definitely be back to try more of the entrees and maybe a different dessert unless they can guarantee that the strudel is fresh.

Good food and friendly service. The pretzel and vings were good and beer was good too. The portions were huge so if you want to finish your entree, you might want to just order one appetizer. The pork nuckle was freaking good.

Kept us decently spaced from other customers inside, the service was decent but nothing above and beyond. The food was great, very large dinner sized portion even though we were in at lunchtime. My husband had the Chicken Jagerschnitzel, and I had the Bratburger which was topped with ham and swiss and served on an english muffin. The potato salad on the side was very good. We shared an apple strudel for dessert and asked to add a little vanilla ice cream, and this is the biggest reason I can't give 4 stars, the waitress didn't inform us that we would have two full dessert charges just for a little vanilla ice cream, we're talking two small scoops, I could see tacking a dollar or two on but not a full separate dessert charge. My second complaint on the dessert is that, while flavorful, it was obvious the strudel had been reheated in a microwave which kinda ruined any flakiness and that crunch to the crust... it made it slightly chewy and hard to cut into. Overall the meal was very good, but I'd reconsider having any dessert course there again.

Always wonderful! Have been visiting for decades. It’s German Soul food!!! My only suggestion is the place could use a sprucing up as restaurant is a bit dated. However there would be riot if it closed for that purpose 🤣

Zum Stammtisch Est. 1972 Layout/atmosphere *German biergarten aesthetic; bar area to the right (couple of high tables; three TVs; portrait of original owner John Lehner; Internet jukebox); tables to the left; back room; grocery/pork store attached; gated off outdoor area with tables Service *Friendly bartender; waitresses in traditional German female garb Food/drink *Hausgemachte Sülze (homemade headcheese with vinaigrette) - solid; simple *Jägerschnitzel (breaded veal cutlet with mushroom sauce and veal stock, served with homefries) - good; hearty; gravy not too salty; meat cooked right; potatoes nothing elaborate *Apple Strudel a la mode - fantastic; strudel came out warm; buttery crust; ice cream was fine

We drives 20 minutes to visit the place on September 17, the first day of Oktoberfest, and tried their special beer for the fest. A five star freshness! The food is ok, not very impressive. But the environment and the decors are very nice. In conclusion, worth 20 mins drive. If we decide to visit here again, it is mostly because of the beer.

The food was very good and authentic, wouldn't taste much different in Austria or Germany. We felt just like back home! 😀 Prices are quite high. Our waitress was very nice, but she couldn't speak a word German which was sad! In the store, that's attached they offered Almdudler, a soda that I hoped to get in the restaurant too, but our waitress didn't even know what it was, so we ended up with iced tea! But we'll definitely come back!

Solid, although not outstanding German food. Quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. Cozy restaurant with an Oktoberfest feel. The Jägerschnitzel was excellent. I've eaten better Sauerbraten. Kids menu was sufficient. Was nice to have a Hofbrau beer to wash everything down. Good service considering how busy the restaurant was.

Visited New York City for a graduation, and we decided on Zum Stammtisch for one of our meals. Arriving there we found street parking near the restaurant, and we entered a cool wooden open German looking building. The light was low (maybe a little too low,) the tables well spaced, and the decor was very intriguing (like a hunting lodge.) Our server was quick to arrive and she was friendly and informative. We were well attended to the entire meal. For an appetizer we started with käsespätzle which is one of my favorite dishes. It came with carmelized onions and it was tasty, but not the best I've had. It was a bit too oily, and it was shaped in a way I hadn't seen before (longer strands instead of smaller oblong pieces,) but I did love the amount of cheese (which may have contributed to the oil) and the carmelized onions were perfect. I saved some for the meal and it was a nice pair to my dinner. For which I ordered the Schweinshaxe mit Semmelknödel which is a pork shank special with bread dumplings which I remember I used to have when I lived in Germany as a teenager. This was enormous! I'll include a picture. I ended up eating it for 3 or 4 more meals, it was a formidable meal. I will say the outer layer was quite fatty, though you don't have to eat it, there's no way you would be hungry if you are the type of person that can finish this. I thought it added a nice flavor as German food is not known for its seasoning. The Semmelknödel gave a nice break from the pork shank and the sauerkraut that came with it contrasted the dish with taste and texture. Overall I really enjoyed it but I think I would only order it again if I was feeling gluttonous. The my girlfriend and her sister shared the chicken schnitzel with the Riesling and mushroom sauce. The schnitzel was good, though not the best we've had before, the crust could be a bit more buttery in flavor maybe by using a different breading, but the mushrooms in the Riesling sauce were delicious. The dish came with potatoes which does not really brighten up the plate, but it was a welcome addition. The meal ended with dessert where we all shared linzer torte and vanilla ice cream and a NY cheesecake. This was the star of the meal. I have never had linzer torte (a raspberry torte) and it was amazing the crust was perfectly soft and the tartness of the raspberry against the creaminess of the ice cream was such a perfect balance my mouth waters just thinking of it, and the New York cheesecake was also very soft in texture and the cake was creamy and the base was crumbly and not too dry. Such a nice ending to quite the feast. The price was very fair, around 100 dollars and I would say if you're in the area it's worth checking out but where it shines is in the value and the service.

Blast from the passed! Last time I was here was when I lived in the neighborhood…30 years ago! I was looking forward to a fantastic meal. It was ok, but not as good as I remember it. The prices were very high. Our service was great and the ambiance was exactly how I remembered it. My favorite part was the store full of German treats.

We went on one of the hottest summer night in August. Our kids were all in shorts and t-shirt maybe one of them was in a tank top. The air conditioning in the restaurant was set so cold it was unbearable. Everyone in our party including me had to go outside to warm up multiple times during dinner. Diner leaving were complaining as well. Our server was very pleasant, we asked her to turn down the AC.She did with one but said she could not adjust the other. There was a table of teenagers boys that borrowed chef jackets from the staff to keep warm. The steak I ordered was pretty good but I really was not able to enjoy it cause the family was so miserable. If we return we will come with our ski gear.

This restaurant has been here a long time, but the quality of their menu items has declined. They used to be the standard against which other German restaurants were measured. Our meals were ok, but not up to par with previous visits. The signature sauerbraten was somewhat tough and dry, and swimming in gravy that filled the plate. Their version of schnitzel with peppers and paprika was not nearly as good as I have had elsewhere.Sorry to say we may not return.

I very seldomly give mid reviews but this place deserves it. We came to celebrate a birthday and was very disappointed. 4.7 stars ? No way Took us almost an hour to get a table (on a tuesday night) . No place to sit for waiting patrons or children. Didn’t think we’d need to make reservations but this place seems very popular, don’t know why. Food was bland , no seasoning or flavor of any sort. Just piled mounds of mess. They were busy maybe thats why but I wouldn’t come out of my way to visit this place. Actually, I wouldn’t even come if I was in the area. You can make a better wienerschnitzle using knorr. The building itself was nice and had traditional Bavarian aesthetics; thats the only upside. Our server had a major attitude and quickly rushed our order. Prices were way to high for what we received. Will never come back. -Bryan B. (customer)

So disappointed. Was looking forward to a delicious loin of pork dinner and potato soup, Wednesday specials, at Zum Stammtisch. Unfortunately, the food was far from delicious. The loin of pork was extremely dry, tasted like it was frozen and nuked—definitely not homemade. When a female employee, the manager maybe, asked how everything was, she offered another piece of meat. My sister also had the same dry, nuked pork loin dinner. Another piece of meat would have been just been more of the same. My husband had a warm sausage and sauerkraut entree served on top of very cold potato salad. Was never asked, when he ordered, if he wanted warm potato salad—which is the way it should have been served. All 3 of us had the potato soup. It had unidentifiable pieces of mystery meat that tasted like cardboard. When asked, we were told it was ham! I have had better pork loin and soup served at dinners, at half the price. Shame on you Zum Stammtisch for serving such mediocre food.

Very cute decor and ambience. But that’s where the good for me ends sadly. Ordered chicken cutlets & boy what a mistake. Took 3 bites and couldn’t continue. It was like beef jerky .. idk why people like this place. My aunt had an alternative chicken plate & I could tell she hated hers too. We both only ate several bites. Quality of food was just not there. I’ve been to Germany. Idk how to describe this place but it’s not that. I also ordered the elderflower g&t .. so syrupy and More like a cheap bar drink. Was expecting something more creative , refreshing and delicious.

Good food, atmospheric decor. One star for the totally hopeless service. Ordering dessert while ordering soup is clearly a problem and the service does not understand that someone may want something sweet earlier than two hours later and does not know what they are doing in a restaurant. If someone comes across a mature blonde waitress I recommend changing this lady to someone else. Only if not this problem, dinner with a group of friends could be a pleasant experience and not having to deal with an unpleasant lady when ordering food, blocking the passage and not being interested in customers for at least an hour on every occasion. Maybe next time with different services it will be better.
