Love it here! Live music. Food was delicious! Drink as perfect. Family lunch was great! We got outdoor seating next to the waterfront view. There's an ice cream shop outside the resturant on the other side of the street white farm so convenient. Would go here again.
Fantastic service, absolutely gorgeous views, great portions for what you pay, and good drinks. I would go back again and would recommend it to others. Staff are fantastic about accommodating allergies.
A popping restaurant! Busy and high energy. The view of the water & boats was so peaceful though. My sister & I got a variety of appetizers to share; the tuna poke, hummus plate, M1M pizza. The tuna poke was perfection, the hummus plate could’ve had more pita bread but it all tasted great, the M1M pizza said it had a spinach dip base and artichoke but I don’t think ours did unfortunately. Their specialty key lime mojito was absolutely delicious and I’m still thinking about it.
This was our lunch stop while driving along the Essex Scenic Byway (highly recommend). Lobster bruschetta was a creative, yummy dish. Can’t beat the views. We sat at the outside bar and the bartenders were super nice and took great care of us.
Friendly service and a great location. Great place to grab lunch after a day at the beach. Plenty of parking (2 hr free w/ validation). Food portions are big. Fried calamari was fried well but under seasoned. Great burger and chicken sandwich. Fries were nice and crispy.
The quintessential New England lunch spot! Such a cute hidden gem, I was surprised we got a table immediately but was so glad we did! Beautiful menu that was easy to make multiple vegan edits easily!
I can't recommend Mile Marker One enough! We've always loved it in the summer, but after trying their Igloo experience, we can now enjoy everything they have to offer in the winter too! The igloo was so warm, cozy and private. The service and food was the usual, excellent! The view was peaceful and beautiful. We did not want to leave. What a treat! Can't wait to go back.
My family and I enjoyed my birthday dinner in the igloo and we had so much fun. The food was delish and service was exceptional. We did however go on one of the windiest days, so when they would open the door the cod air would rush in and it would take a few min to warm up again. It was not that big of a deal so I would recommend wearing a warm sweater. They do provide blankets in the igloo and the heater definitely ikept us warm.
Loved it! Right on the water, so beautiful views while dining. The bartenders were friendly and the food was delicious! I had the crab stuffed avacado...yummy!
Everything about this place was phenomenal! We sat under an umbrella outside. It was comfortable and decorated tastefully. The hostess was sweet and our server was awesome! We had the lobster bruschetta which was a special and the fish tacos. Both were mouth watering! The Cesar salad that came with the lobster was so fresh and crisp! And it actually had the green leaves and not just the white chunky center part. Just the right amount of dressing and cheese! I’m pretty sure they make their own croutons too. At least they tasted like it. The lobster was prepared perfectly and the bread was outstanding! The spicy slaw on the tacos had the perfect amount of spice and a great flavor! I had the espresso cocktail and it was delicious!! My husband had the local lager and said it was really good. If we ever come back, I’ll definitely be coming back!
Gloucester is am amazing place near the sea coast. Lots of beach scenery and seafood restaurants. We ate at Mile Marker. There is inside and outside dinning, a hotel where you can dock you boat outside total restaurants. Beautiful views while dinning. Great food, friendly staff, moderate prices for the area. We hand a great time, dinners, atmosphere and time check it out. Outside dinner you should make a reservation it is hight requested.
Awesome night out....pleasant and informative staff made it extra special.
Summer UPDATE! Another great collab with North of Boston , this time at Mile Marker One With seven different lobster dishes to choose from, while overlooking the marina at Gloucester Harbour, Mile Marker One is a destination restaurant. The Local Tuna Crudo and SEAcuteries are super fresh. But the lobster dishes are wowing everyone Their Lobster Roll is a solid cornerstone, And their Lobster Grilled Cheese takes it to another level. Then the four level adventurous Double Lobster Smash Burger But their Lobster Mac and Cheese with fresh shucked lobster, VT white cheddar pasta, peas, and toasted panko was my favorite. LOCAL TUNA CRUDO * extra virgin olive oil, lemon, capers, Maldon sea salt GF SEACUTERIE BOARD tuna bresaola, smoked swordfish, octopus salami, tuna stuffed peppadews, ricotta di bufala, grilled Borettane onions, haddock-stuffed olives LOBSTER MAC & CHEESE fresh shucked lobster, VT white cheddar cheese, lumache pasta, peas, toasted panko topping LOBSTER GRILLED CHEESE local lobster, gruyere, fontina, and Vermont sharp cheddar with toasted sage and bacon on then griddled LOBSTER ROLL chilled local lobster with a smidgeon of Hellmann's and celery stuffed into a griddled roll THE DOUBLE LOBSTER SMASH BURGER 5oz. of Gloucester lobster, 2 grass-fed beef patties, lettuce, M1M sauce on a griddled bun can also be serves with single patty
Very classy place. The service is great. There is a wide variety on the menu. Something for everyone. Love the steak tips, Haddock sandwich, and Haddock rueben. The Caesar salad is great as well. The prices are not on a low scale, but you get what you pay for, and it's worth it. Also, the view is spectacular.
Delicious creatively presented & prepared food at this waterfront restaurant. Seasonal appetizer was excellent! Great service as well. Our first time here and we would definitely return.
The view of the docks was spectacular. Green bean salad was divine and I could eat their damn bread all day. Crusted Haddock was otherworldly. I had to be carried out to my truck😜Server was sweet & edgy..totally belonged there; attentive & knowledgeable about the menu. Beautiful space..Can be chilly in the dining area due to windows I’m assuming..bring a sweater🤍
Great place to bring your catch after a day of fishing. They expertly prepared it, and tossed in some sides for a small fee. The drinks are strong as well. Servers are all very friendly and helpful as well. The only nitpicky downside is that the restroom is a short walk away and not located within the walls of the restaurant.
Mile Marker 1 Rum punch was very good. Strong but smooth going down. Stuffed avacado was a good appetizer. We order the Glouster platter, a variety of fried seafood with delicious, fresh coleslaw and crisp fries. My husband and I could not finish the whole platter. It was big enough for two. Nice view of marina and draw brigde.
What a treat! We boated to the marina and the staff were quick to get us tied off. We entered the restaurant and were warmly greeted. Our server, Courtney, did a great job and the food was terrific! Try the Bang Bang Shrimp! The burgers and the fish and chips were delicious! Can't wait to come back!
My boyfriend surprised me with lunch in one of the heated igloos by the water! What a fun experience. It was cold outside but cozy inside! The menu was impressive! I wasn't very hungry unfortunately so I decided on the avocado toast. Topped with sweet strawberries it was perfect! I totally recommend for a great lunch experience!
We ate at Mile Marker One this past weekend and had a fantastic time. We sat out in one of their igloo-bubbles on the water, which were very cute, and our waiter and the rest of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS all-around the table (I had the scallops, and would highly recommend). I would love to come back here, we really enjoyed our private dining experience!
Really impressed with the food ! Very good and nice outdoor seating by the water
We booked a private heated igloo looking out to the water at the M1M restaurant for a special occasion. It was a lovely COVID-safe dinner that I'd recommend! The food was terrific and the staff were attentive and friendly. We haven't eaten out in 2yrs so we were very happy with the experience!
My husband and I had lunch here on The Fourth of July and it was fantastic! We sat at the bar and had a beautiful view of the marina. The bartender was very kind and efficient. He made me an awesome blood orange margarita and my husband had his usual IPA, Maine Lunch. I ordered their Protein Bowl and he - the haddock Reuben. Both dishes were very tasty and plentiful. We were watching the busy wait staff carry out these delicious looking meals to patrons and the manager (Myles) walked by and said, "you're window shopping!" LOL! We told him the last time we had dined here, (about 4 years ago) we weren't impressed but decided to give it another go because our friends recently raved about it. Myles is the new manager and told us about the many positive changes. On our exit, Myles gave us a tour of the indoor adjacent restaurant and new bar, also overlooking the water and let's just say, we'll be back!
We enjoyed a wonderful dockside lunch with a beautiful view of the Annisquam river. We were able to keep our boat at Cape Ann Marina while we dined on delicious lobster roll, haddock Reuben, Cuban and fish fillet sandwiches. Our server was wonderful!
My first exposure to a place that I've been given the terrific opportunity to call my home, Gloucester, I enjoy the local fair and have been happy with most... It's nice to be able to experience a local legend on the advice of others and it completely exceeded my expectations. Food, Drink, Service!! Atmosphere, music, Ambiance, and of course, Location.. Love the Igloo's decorated for holidays... Classy, causul friendly spot Looking forward to friends visiting to share this Diamond in the rough. Thomas Mc.
Accommodated a reservation for a super big group (several dozen people) with graciousness and professionalism! Our headcount kept changing leading up to the event, but the venue was great about seating us at tables nearby to each other for the folks who were overflow from the original headcount. This was a unique and special day for our group, so the kindness of Mile Marker One in facilitating us being together even though it must have complicated from their end really meant a lot to us. Thank you so much!!!
Food is excellent. Local sea food is as fresh as it gets. Special water views makes the entire experience a bit surreal. It does get crowded so orders can back up. Service is very friendly. Also serves the boating community with to go orders. Just a busy place but outstanding food. The atmosphere is very casual and part of the marina culture. Enjoy!
Service from host to server was lovely as was the location. Sitting by the water watching the boats come and go was beautiful. Food was good but not as good as my last visit. Last time I got chowder and mussels and those were both excellent. This time we got salads and shared fries. Fries were limp and salads were okay. My daughter got the watermelon stack and I had a new crab meat salad. I feel like the watermelon could have had more or missing greens (mint?). The crab salad was good but I’m not a chef so not sure what it was missing. Was just lacking flavor and I added the lemon and dressing. It was all fresh but missing something 🧐
Came to Gloucester for the day with my husband to grab lunch and we stumbled upon Mile Marker. Restaurant located in Cape Ann’s Marina Resort right on the water. I ordered the fried haddock sandwich which came with potato salad. The sandwich was so good, and the tartar sauce complimented it well. The portions were large, and the service was fast. The view from our table overlooked the dock and boats. What a great view for an afternoon lunch!
Stopped for a quick appetizer and cocktail after the beach. Yes the beach in October, what a beautiful day. Had the Chowder and Mussels before the ride home. In season place is always packed as you sit by boats overlooking the marina. Nice atmosphere and not busy this time of year which is a plus. Not cheap but we always like the atmosphere here. Worth a visit!!
First time here, tried the lobster bruschetta it was delicious, I also tried the espresso martini flight but was not impressed with it, no beans and no foam on top. Service was good and the outside seating was nice
Great food at a decent price. The food came out quickly and the server was very polite. Will come back again.
Joe was great and I enjoyed the view, atmosphere both relaxing and on the water. The corn and red pepper chowder was excellent. My hubby enjoyed the lobster roll and coleslaw.
Great location and really cute heated igloos outdoors. The food is abundant and quite tasty.
Mile Marker in Gloucester is worth a visit on a nice evening, or sunny day. Main restaurant is just off the boat docks and has a large bar as well. New sundeck area is a terrific spot for drinks and listening to music. The food and service are okay - drinks are solid and the location is excellent. Bathroom set up is strange, need to walk out of the restaurant or off the sundeck through the motel gift shop and around their indoor pool that is for motel guests...
The marina is beautiful. The food was good - we got lobster rolls and lobster grilled cheese. They were great. Got a couple cocktails, also very good. Mine was pricey ($18), but I’ll say they made it strong. Respect. The calamari wasn’t bad, but I think the breading it is fried in is pretty bland.Easy to get to. Service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
Having lived in Gloucester for many years, never tried it before. Very nice dining room with one of the best views in town. Food was definitely top-tier. Lobster roll, steak tips, haddock, seafood casserole all were high quality.
Food was just ok, but took too long and was just warm, not hot. Just thought it was because it was very chilly and windy but someone after us got the same entree and it was clearly piping hot. Our waiter was barely around while the others were constantly tending to their tables. Wa not worthe the money. Much better everything at the Seaport Grill.
Fun place! We had lunch and dinner there. We ordered Steamed clams which they ran out of. Lobster was good. The Chicken Piccata was awful. The chicken and pasta was dried out and the service was terrible.
I used to love this place! Not sure when it went downhill. We drive here from Boston every summer as a tradition, but this will be the last year! We were sat pretty quickly, which I think was to our detriment. After being seated, we waited about 30 minutes before asking another waitress for help. We finally spoke to our waitress after she stopped by a regular’s table to say hi first, and ordered our food. Between our waitress and the manager on duty, an apology was never given for the wait, just excuses about the bridge being up (something that happens every day?). Felt weird, but they were down 24 people we heard, so tried to give them a break. Food was just okay, drinks that were described as coming with fresh fruit came out bare. The icing on the cake comes when the table next to us went to get their own drinks from the bar because they had been waiting for almost 40 minutes! This time, the manager didn’t even attempt an apology and flippantly told them they were between shifts right now. If you want a stress free lunch with great views, this probably isn’t the place. If you come for a drink at the bar, you’ll probably be okay. Just watch out for rusty salt shakers!!
As a regular, I have experienced excellent meals for many years, today was like they were new kitchen staff and new owners that have never been in the restaurant business. My food runner brought out my order of bang bang shrimp, gave it to another table, they said it was not theirs, I said that’s mine and he obviously did not hear me! He brought it back to the kitchen. Then I watched him bring it out to a different table, and again bring it back to the kitchen! The third time when it came out, I said, “where did you go with my shrimp, you ran away?” As a server, his reply was “it wasn’t my fault”. Then, my Girl was craving a beautiful lobster roll, what she got was something other than that for $37. I don’t know what type of bread it was but the lobster was chopped up and looked like it came out of a can. It was supposed to be hot drawn butter on the lobster roll and it came out cold, no butter, about three strands of lettuce and an untoasted, whatever type of bun they put it on! This was not a lobster roll from the Northshore of Massachusetts that I have ever seen, and in Gloucester, you would expect nothing but the best! I got a protein bowl with grilled chicken and I must say it was very good, but the staff were not as friendly as they should be working on tips, but I never tip less than 20% regardless. They all could’ve used a lesson on greeting their customers with a smile and at least acting friendly being in the service industry. I expected much better from the place I have come to love, today was not love in return.. 😵💫
Well... dinner for two..... We lost our waitress for over 1/2 an hour. Twice. It wasn't crowded that evening. Our cauliflower appetizer was out in literally 2-3 minutes. Not kidding! How is that possible? Cold and undercooked. Waitress didn't apologize. She returned it, and we weren't charged. Positives...our entrees were excellent. Overall, unfortunately, we were quite disappointed.
First of all, the food we ordered was delicious. I had the pan-seared scallops, which were served in a cream pasta, and it was amazing. Unfortunately, the service did not match the food. We had made reservations, yet our table wasn't bussed when we arrived. (Worth noting that we were on time for our reservation, possibly even a few minutes late.) We were seated eventually, and I was a little surprised that despite having selected "outside/deck" seating on the reservation app, we were seated in the back corner with hardly any view. This, despite the fact that several clean tables were available with better views. We didn't complain. Then we had to wait 10+ minutes to even get some water and put in drink orders. The waitress looked like she'd rather be anywhere but serving us, and honestly it made me wonder if we had somehow offended her. We then had to wait another 10+ minutes to put in food orders. After taking our orders, the waitress then bizarrely came back to see if there was anything else we needed. (We needed food, were otherwise good.) In the end, we enjoyed our dinners but, despite the amazing chef, I unfortunately don't think we'll be coming here again anytime soon. One other minor nitpicky note for management: On a brisk day, you might consider putting less crushed ice in your lemonades. They were 3/4 ice, 1/4 lemonade, which just feels super stingy for something that's not alcoholic, and when we're already spending quite a bit of money on food!
Been here in the summer. Better experience in the summertime when it’s busy. Went for dinner in the igloo. Food was marginal at best. Roll for burger was stale. Fries were cold. Asked for different fries and server brought out more of the same cold fries. Wife had horseradish crusted haddock which was good. Fish tacos very average. My advice would be to wait for summer
Most expensive clam chowder ($12.00/cup) and fish&chips ($29.00) on the Gloucester/Essex area. French fries were cold although plenty of them. Fish was in strips vs. a filet. Chicken tender appetizer were way overdone. Bottled beer was cold and good. One and done.
UPDATE II - After giving it some time, we went back for their 'Tour of Italy' food/wine paring event. It did not disappoint. The person providing the pairings was VERY knowledgeable and offered great choices to complement each course. This was the Mile Marker we fell in love with. The intimate event was nicely put together and we would definitely try another one. (I saw they had a tequila paring event, I'll keep my eyes on that one to return)... We're happy we gave them another chance and are glad we probably just had an off night (albeit a special occasion) that we can move on from. UPDATE - This went from a 5-Star to 1-Star (original 5-star review below this new horrible experience..... Super sad to write this. After really loving our visits here and honestly becoming regulars our last visit was horrible. I booked for Valentine's Day as early as I could (my husband, son and myself). We arrived and the young lady at the front brought us to the absolute back of the restaurant, there was a half-moon table facing the outside. I asked if we can move because this was a super sad table for Valentine's Day...facing a window (not each other, it's like sitting at a bar with a child...all in a line)...She scoffed and said, "umm no" looked at the other hostess and laughed...this completely caught me off guard. I got defensive and said I couldn't believe this is even a table being offered, there was a table open up front, and we can't be expected to sit here especially with a child, and we had made reservations ahead to make sure this was special. An adjacent table of 4- actually stepped in and said they were leaving soon and said they should seat us there. The scoffer just said "um no someone has that seat'...the older lady repeated what I said that it was a horrible seat to put anyone never mind a family. I smiled and thanked them for trying to help us. The girls said they will go check if they have another seat. We knew we couldn't accept that seat, so we followed them to the front. One of the managers (the older gentleman) was surprisingly rude, he said, "a table is a table" and it's first come first served. I mentioned we made a reservation early to make this special and just can't sit there. All this while they have an empty table and the other table that was leaving...I asked why they couldn't sit us at an actual normal table. The other manager stepped in and immediately offered us the table that had been open since we walked in. I thanked him greatly. This WHOLE time this could have been done... The waitress we had was lovely and the meal fantastic (which were all expected)...but that RUDE front-end girl glared each time she walked by! This ruined the night. We have not gone back since. I am so sad and disappointed. This was handled so poorly. I didn't review sooner but it's still a lasting feeling when we talk about where we should go to dinner, my husband wants to give it another go since we've had so many positive experiences, but I am I guess bitter and not over it yet. In the end if you are planning a special dinner be sure to say you don't want to back table until you understand what it is. Others may like it, but if you don't want bar style seating this is not for you. OLD Review.... We have eaten at mile marker many times during the summer months and were sad knowing that the season was coming to a close. I saw an ad that they were doing igloos and immediately reserved one for a birthday celebration. We have a very hard time getting certain family members out of the house, this helped entice them to want to check it out and it was absolutely amazing. You would have no idea you were eating outside because they kept these nice and warm. We loved having the privacy of our own space celebrating a special occasion. The food we already expected to be great since they have never let us down before, but the overall addition of sitting in an igloo outside in the winter made everything so much more special.
Idk what’s up with the food but it’s poorly done. I got the haddock and I can’t even explain the smell, taste of the sauce, mash potatoes and fish itself. It all tasted the same (And if you know what spoiled fish looks like, I accompanied pictures so you can check it out for yourself). The hoisin ribs weren’t great. The sauce and meat didn’t go with each other which gave it an odd flavor. However, upsides of the restaurant is the clam chowder is good and the manager was really nice.
I ordered the eggs Benedict which was fine. My husband and friend ordered corn beef hash and the corn beef came in chucks with diced potatoes and per them lacked favor. Our friend ordered fried eggs and got poached. The staff kept forgetting to bring toast, extra holladise sauce and jams. Toast and jam were on the description of the corn beef hash. The view was beautiful but won't go back.
My son and I went there for dinner. They were not busy when we arrived so we got seated quickly. Shortly after they started getting busy. The waitress was nice, she took our order and the appetizer came out quickly. However, after that it felt like they forgot about us. All the tables that came in after us got their food. The waitress finally came over and told us ours would be out in 6 minutes. 20 minutes later we got our food. The manager or owner was walking around checking on tables, he checked on the tables around us, stood next to our table to check on a group of men but not once checked if we needed anything. About 5 of the other tables that came in after us had already paid and left. We waited another 30 minutes and then I started walking around the resturant looking for someone to take my payment.
