AMAZING FOOD SO YUM! i ate here three days in a row during my stay in granada. Food was impeccable, mind blowing, life-changing, delicious and fantastic. Definitely eat the olive chicken, couscous, cheese croquettes and the chicken puff pastry. if i go back to Granada again i will definitely eat here again.
Delicious food. I tried several tapas all of which were very tasty. Om Kalsum was recommended by our Spanish teacher and we can see why. I couldn't see a phone number but noticed there were a couple of tables - for more than 2 people - reserved. It's really small so fills up quickly.
We arrived just as it opened at 1 pm and we were the first in. It was quiet for a short time but then became very busy quickly with some people outside and waiting. The food was very quick to be served and there is a good selection of tapas and some offers including beer and tapas or a bottle of wine and tapas.
The place is super adorable, get a drink plus tapas. The falafel were the best I ever, every tapa we tried was full of flavour! Highly recommend!
Very yummy tapas. Lots of vegetarian options. We ordered the special that was 1 litre of beer and 8 tapas. You get the choice of 4 tapas with 2 portions of each from the menu. Food was tasty and large portions. We got there at 8 and it was pretty quiet, but it picked up swiftly and there was a line to get a table.
Oh this was a nice surprise! If we hadn’t read the reviews for this place we would have walked right passed it. Doesn’t look much from the outside but inside is an amazing atmosphere and delicious food! The server was kind and helpful. We ordered few things for a family of four and all dishes were great! I highly recommend this place (and I’m picky when it comes to food and a good service level :) )
This place is very popular! We came before their opening time at 8 pm and there were plenty of people already waiting in line. Good and inexpensive tapas, great wine, but note that it gets really full and noisy right from the beginning. Service was really efficient despite having to serve so many people in a limited space. Good mix of locals and tourists too. Recommended!
Perhaps the best tapas bar in town! You have to be there before the opening time otherwise you will get a long queue to get it. The place is small and still can fit quite a bit of ppl. Generally they have deals like have a jar of beer or a bottle of wine with 8 tapas for 18 euros. For these 8 tapas, you get to choose 3 and they give it like 3 tapas of one type, 3 tapas of another type and 2 of another type. The quantity is quite good. These 8 tapas can fill up 2 people. The cheese croquettes were the best I have ever had - melt in your mouth. We had papas yunnani and that was also very nice and interesting way to serve potatoes. The hummus was simple but delicious.
Such a fun and unique tapas bar in Granada! I had been to 4-5 other tapas bars before I made it to Om Kalsum. The drinks are delicious (I had a number of Tintos de Verano), cheap, and the tapas are delicious. The food is mediterranean and a wonderful switch-up to the traditional Spanish tapas you find around Granada. I had the Tajine de Kefta (lamb meatballs), the cheese puff pastry, and the chicken shawarma pita sandwich tapas. Each was uniquely delicious, very flavorful/spiced, and a solid portion for being FREE with each drink. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lively. I will certainly be back to try more wines and more tapas plates!
Om Kalsum is a great place for authentic small dishes of Morrocon food. It's a family business and tends to get very crowded. The food is really good and you can tell it's got the home made sense to it. Perfect place of you want to sample different types of Morrocon food for two euros per dish. Falafel is awesome, and the chicken dishes were lovely. Highly recommended.
Literally my favourite tapas spot in Granada. There is a solid reason this place is PACKED even though it is not in the centre of town. You expect queues for the good places in centro and along all the tourist streets. We were SO lucky coming here and managed to get the last two free seats before a queue started forming. We'd heard it was amazing, but still sort of off the radar. It isn't! Very popular with locals especially, but also some tourists (generally Spanish, Portuguese, Middle Eastern). And the reason is the absolutely mouth-watering, insanely good Middle Eastern-Spanish fusion tapas! Generous servings of beer and wine, with huge free tapa. Prices are awesome. The place is totally buzzing with happy customers and all the staff are fantastic too. Very friendly and super fast. Honestly, I want to go back just to try more of the tapas. I don't mind paying for extra cos they are just that awesome.
I think this was the most surprising place in Granada. We wanted to try another tapas place nearby, but the queue was huge. I remembered we had passed this place on the way and it was full inside, but with few people waiting. Best decision ever. This is a place with Morocco influences. The owner was super friendly and when it was our turn, invited us at the counter until a table was free for our group. Then we were seated and had some of the best tapas in Spain. Delicious croquettes and fried stuff. We also tried a shared platter with different spreads and it was a great experience. The Kefka meatballs were superb, so soft and good that we asked for extra bread just to eat the sauce too. The Sangria and Vermouth we had here were some of the best. This is a must visit, seems almost like a hidden gem, since it seemed like people don't notice or know this place (I think we were the only foreigners there).
Lovely twist on tapas - Moroccan styled and themed - all the dishes er great, we had 7 and most were very tasty. Excellent value for money too of course, most ahh the extra tapa that you order over and above a drink accompaniment are only €1.90. Nice ambience and atmosphere too Now been again, 2 years later.. not very welcoming this time.
Hype! I wanted to love this place and I was soooo excited for it. We marked on our agenda and made sure to check it out. So disappointed. First, feels a bit cultural appropriation-y. Om Kalsum (kolthoum) is a world renounced Egyptian singer from the 50s to the 70s. Her name is recognized across the Arab world and synonymous with Egypt - same way you might see a place called Pyramid Cafe or Pharaoh’s Cafe and think Egypt. Couple that with a few very very Egyptian dishes (Fuul Madamas, Kibda, etc) and our expectations were set. As you might have already guessed, Moroccan food (which we love). Once we got over the initial disappointment, we ordered nearly a dozen tapas. They were all very very average, by any standard and fairly stingy portion compared to other tapas in a similar price range. Falafel - bland and tasteless, including the sauce Fuul - Similar Chicken Shawarma - Tasty but really small (quarter of a medium sized pita bread) Cheese Croquettes - good, but really tiny Barwat (sp?) - Chicken Puff Pastry - okay, also uber tiny Saluka- Delicious Couscous - My daughter had this and enjoyed it. The place was packed Ie: bursting at the seams. Clearly a very hyped up spot with a mix of locals and tourists. Service was decent, but clearly impatient. With a lot of things on the menu that required additional explanation, they had no interest in spending the time to answer the Qs, so we made our best guess and ordered what we mentioned above. TLDR - coming here for Egyptian food - pass. You’re coming here for good med food - pass. If you’re looking for a cool bar scene meets med food, this certainly answers the mark. Although we didn’t take advantage, they had a cool special Bottle of Wine and 8 tapas for ~€21.
Went there just for tapas based on reviews. I don't drink, so I have no input on the options there. Got the Falafel and Papa Yunnani. Both were tasty. Chicken Shwarma was not good at all. I left half of it. Bar was so crowded that we could barely move. So, it's a good sign that it's popular with the locals.
