Thank you for the best day of our lives. Tres Raíces was absolutely incredible and exceeded all our expectations. Gabriela’s planning and support were outstanding from start to finish, making everything feel seamless and stress-free. On the day, Cesar and his team were amazing, professional, calm, and attentive, allowing us to truly enjoy every moment. The venue is stunning, the food and wine were exceptional, and the suite/room was beautiful. We couldn’t have imagined a better place or team for our wedding. Highly, highly recommend!

We had such an enjoyable stay at this unique hotel. The grounds are stunning and sprawling. Our allocated room was comfortable and spacious. The service level was excellent. We had all our meals at the main restaurant and they were all great meals. We would stay here again in the future and would extend our stay next time.

When I came this place is still under construction, despite that, the service was great, they did everything they could to accommodate. The food was really good and wine was fantastic. Gabriel did an excellent job with the tasting. The worst thing about wineries is when they act arrogant. That is always a turnoff at a winery. Here they did not. They were kind. Rafael was a great server. He was attentive kind and friendly. He made our experience even better. If they keep maintaining staff like this and compensating goodness and friendliness they will keep getting 5 stars from me and I will keep coming.

Great wine, amazing food, and excellent service! Rafael our waiter was superb in more ways than one.( Muchas Gracias) From his knowledge in wines to the special way they celebrated my mother’s bday. Everything was perfect the weather, ambiance, and music. We enjoyed a Merlot and 3 appetizers, all plenty for a table of 6 to share, before our dinners. I ordered the ravioli, full of flavor and plenty of meat. My niece had the linguine and added chicken also cooked to perfection. We ordered 2 desserts and shared, both very filling and to our liking. Can’t wait to return!

We did not stay at the hotel, we came for an afternoon 5 course wine and food pairing on the recommendation of friends and our driver from BJX to SMA. Our experience here was the culinary standout of our trip. Do yourself a favor and just go.

We did a wine tasting with Marco and it was incredible! He showed us the vineyard, production and we tried 3 of their popular wines after with a plate of cheese & meat.

This was by far the best winery experience we’ve had. The wine was great, the tour was great, the service was excellent. Highly recommend

My friends and I are from Texas, during our visit to San Miguel de Allende we decided to do a wine tasting tour at Tres Raices in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato. Which is about a 20 minute drive from San Miguel. We were extremely satisfied with Tres Raices from beginning to end. Our guide, Marcos was extremely knowledgeable, kind and truly a treasure to speak with. He would stop every so often to ask if we needed pictures too. During the wine tasting he made the entire experience the best yet. We cannot say how much we truly enjoyed Tres Raices, beautiful views, amazing wine & exceptional service. Thank you, Marcos & Tres Raices. We look forward to returning!

Highly recommend takin the tour here. This was my first wine vinyard tour and I learned so much. If you forget to bring a hat they do have ones there available for purchase. The wine tasting was of course the best part and we learned what foods go with which types of wine. Seening how each win was different from flavorn and body was great to learn. Excellent place and highly recommend.

UPDATE MAY 2023… We we’re able to do a wine tasting without a tour. Third visit and we still enjoy the winery. Recommend winery and restaurant! The wine was excellent and the grounds are stunning. I’d make a suggestion to Tres Raíces that some guests do not want a tour of the winery or need a formal tasting and are there only to sample the wine. The staff - while friendly - was VERY uncertain how to handle our request. After being told we’d need to wait 15 minutes before we could taste (we assumed a tour would be done at that time) we took matters into our own hands. We approached a bar, sampled a few wines purchased two glasses of wine and settled on a bottle of a delicious Tempranillo to bring home. The winery sold $800 MX of wine in 5 mins of staff time, and we enjoyed ourselves on the patio! Your staff should learn this winery skill for guests who inquire.

We were visiting from Canada, and Marco was exceptional. His knowledge and expertise in wine, along with great conversation made an excellent afternoon! Make sure to tip him well!

Even with the plethora of magical food and dining options that give San Miguel de Allende its character, I recommend a half-day private or semi-private wine tour, tasting, and meal at Tres Riaces. Pro tip #1: coordinate your travel through the winery. I'm told getting an Uber back to SMA can be a challenge. The winery paired us with Mabel, our driver, a delightful guide who picked us up at our home, drove us the 45-minute drive, and then returned us home whenever we texted her. (about four hours later). The architecture at Tres Raices is remarkable, stark, and almost brutalist in style. The structures pay homage to both the metal craftsmanship of Delors's Hidalgo and the stonework of SMA. From specific vantage points, you can almost see all 250 acres of working vines and other greenery. The grounds and open cobblestone spaces feel large and uncluttered. As gringos, we had an English-speaking guide that navigated and painted an entertaining and informative experience of the entire facility, from museum-like grand halls to wine blending and production areas to the dark and mystical barrel rooms and intimate, exclusive feeling private dining rooms. We were wine people lucky to have experienced dozens of tastings from Napa, Sanoma, Europe, and our home state of Washington. We're not snobby, but we appreciate great wines. To be clear, Mexico's wine industry is young but well-intentioned. At Tres Raices, it seems excellent care is given to producing wines of distinction, and a giant wall of awards suggests they're getting there. We enjoyed our flight of five, nicely paired with a board of charcuterie goodness and an informative voice-over from our guide. The wines were more than competent, even memorable, with a special nod to the Terruno. I recommend getting in on the buy two get one free promotion. Not to short-change our meal, (we split a parm chicken entre) it too was delicious, spicier than expected, tender and juicy. We opened a bottle of Terruno, sat comfortably, people watched and had a lovely leisurely dinning experience. Tres Raices is a perfect excursion, the "ying" to the the Centro's "yang" if you will. Five, well deserved stars.

Excellent experience during our visit! Our guide, Manuel, was thoughtful, detailed and eager to make us enjoy our tour and tasting. We chose the “Maridaje 5 tiempos” experience and highly recommend it. Cheers!

This was our third winery in 2 days and we were a little hesitant as although the two other wineries were beautiful, the wine wasn't great. THIS winery was both beautiful and had tast wines. After our tasting, we enjoyed a bottle of their tempranillo out on the patio.

Such a nice place. We did the 5 wine tasting with charcuterie board and it was 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. I would suggest arranging for return transportation beforehand as Uber & InDriver won’t work once you are there. The restaurant will call a taxi for you for 3x the cost of a normal taxi.

We did the wine tasting on a Saturday evening. Luis was our guide and server. He made our night with his knowledge, kindness, and patience with our broken Spanish. We can’t wait to go back. — Gracias Luis. The grounds are stunning and the food is delicious. Definitely recommend.

Things could not have been better at Tres Raices today. The grounds and facility are drop dead gorgeous- an oasis in the middle of nowhere outside San Miguel De Allende. We arrived a few minutes early and we were taken to a comfortable seating area and offered a glass of white wine while we waited. Our guide Isabel effortlessly took us on a short walk through the grape vines up to a lovely observation area that overlooked the vineyard. She promptly presented us with two wines to taste and told us about them and the grapes that are grown here. We were then taken to a unique antique door from India where we entered into a gorgeous hallway and made our way to the production area before descending into the climate controlled cellar. The tour was a such a seamless experience. Next came the most amazing and delicious five course gourmet tasting menu paired with excellent wines. The entire experience and food would rival any high end restaurant almost anywhere. Isabel was not only knowledgeable about the wine but the food as well. She explained in detail each course and how it was prepared. Having been to Italy and France to learn about wine making, Isabel knew what she was talking about. I won’t go into specifics of each course but we started out with seared tuna, followed by pork belly, beef and mushrooms, mini wagu beef burger and a refreshing desert. Each course was accompanied by a generous pour of the paired wine. Just an incredible experience! And all this with strict COVID protocols in place!

The risotto was the best I ever had, and the rib eye was also excellent. Both were expertly paired with the perfect wine. Tres Raíces is beautifully decorated and has nice views. The staff was also very helpful and courteous.

I recently won a charity auction item that was a wine tasting and overnight stay in a junior suite at Tres Raices winery, including transport to and from our home in San Miguel de Allende. I used this gift to celebrate the holidays with my husband as a little romantic getaway. Never have my husband and I been treated so incredibly well from start to finish!! Cesar, the manager, was my contact. He arranged everything for us— transportation, wine tasting, dinner reservations and breakfast. He greeted us at the winery like we were old friends, made sure everything was perfect for us, and checked in several times just to make sure we were well taken care of. Cesar and everyone at the winery made us feel quite special and welcome. The suite was so spacious and had a terrace with a small fire pit. We enjoyed wine and dessert after dinner on our terrace—very romantic. The bathroom was quite large with a shower built for two 😘. The king bed was very comfortable, and the shutters on the doors and windows made the room nice and dark for sleeping. The individual suite modules allowed for total privacy. The pool area was very nice too. Th grounds are gorgeous. Finally, the wines we had were very good, and some were outstanding! We can’t wait to bring our friends here when they visit in February. We highly recommend Tres Raices and cannot say enough good things about Cesar!!

Every visit to San Miguel de Allende brings me to Tres Raices at least once. Usually for a wine tasting but in 2024 we were also here for a fabulous Dia de Muertos dinner. The last couple of years we have had the pleasure of meeting Marco, now a manager in the tasting area. I simply love this winery. So very beautiful, with excellent wines and fabulous staff. Marco...we love you!! I am writing this from the winery after another tasting so if coherence is an issue I blame a fabulous afternoon and amazing wines. Don't miss this place if you are in the San Miguel area.

Our group of 3 had a wonderful wine tour and tasting with Marco. The vineyard is beautiful and the facility is very modern and very large. They are even in the process of constructing another event space on the property but the construction did not take away from our experience at all. Our tour took us through the vineyards, up to a lookout point, to the production floor and the cellar and Marco gave us tons of history and information and was ready to answer all the questions we had. He also was a great photographer and got lots of great photos of us! We ended up back in the tasting room where we sampled 5 delicious wines accompanied by tasting notes and background on each wine. We then went to the restaurant for a bottle of wine with some appetizers while overlooking the vineyard. We took their shuttle back to San Miguel at 6:30 pm which cost $600mxn for the trip and was a nice service because the location is kind of far out into the country. Overall it was a very pleasant afternoon and I'd highly recommend making a visit!

Only did the tour of the vineyard and the wine tasting. Tje tour was very enjoyable and down to earth, the guides able to answer questions about the cellars etc. The wine tasting was well executed, the wines themselves fairly average (we did take the cheapest tasting 😉). Restaurant and hotel looks nice.

Easily the best wines of the 4 wineries we visited. Yes the facilities are beautiful, but I'm here for the wine. We did the 5 wine tasting paired with an amazing cheese and fruit platter. While Mexican wines still have a ways to go, we throughly enjoyed our visit. Make sure you arrange a ride back, it's difficult to find transportation otherwise.

G
Gerardo Arriaga

Food was great. Wine is good. Service was not so good, waiting time and having to ask server for assistance (order taking, drinks, etc) DJ was present until 6pm. Music is loud and not appropriate for this level of restaurant (music was more for a night club)

M
Marguerite Miller

The purpose of the visit was a five course wine tasting. The pairings were excellent, the service was professional and I wish it are closer to home. Only the confusion on time of the reservation and prep for one person who needs non-gluten kept it below 5 stars.

I
Ilya Izhovkin

Tour is very simple, but tasting is good, wines are great, they teach you how to taste, you can get 3 or 5 wines. Beware, that there no taxi services here to get back, and taxi they suggest is quite overpriced.

This place looks like a museum with the big cube sculpture when you arrive and park and is beautifully landscape. When we walked in the restaurant, they made us wait in the lobby for about 10 minutes. Then someone came with a menu hard selling us on their wine tasting options of 2oz tastings at 180mx each! They assume that we wanted to do these over priced tastings. Finally, we told them that we would rather wait and be seated for their lunch menu and have a couple glasses of wine. When we got seated, we noticed that their 12 oz glasses of wine began around 180 mx! We ordered 2 glasses of their reds and they had us taste them before pouring and they were oxidized with the light red orangey color and tasted bad. At best we finally got a red that was somewhat berry tasting but had too much tannins. We tried to give this place a chance by having 2 glasses of wine, but both glasses were mediocre at a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Being from California I was offended by the experience here which is suppose to be winery and we felt like they were trying to take advantage of us with their overpriced 2oz wine tasting. Having lived in Guanajuato for 17 years and a California girl, Mexican wines in this region are inconsistent and overrated. The best red wines that I have had any luck with is the Merlot from Santo Tomas in Baja California and the cabernet out of Santisima Trinidad.

Mixed experience. The wine was outstanding and so are the grounds and the young lady who gave us the tour. The glasses were all dirty full of water marks everywhere. The electricity went out probably half a dozen times and the manager was not friendly to the staff or the guests. It was the worst experience from the two vineyards we visited

6 wine lovers go for a tasting. After 6 wine tastes, we requested to "re-visit" a Cab we had tried several glass' behind the last (in order to make a bottle purchase decision). A small re-visit request to re-try a wine we liked, try to "pin it down" so to speak, ....denied. Even after explaining why we wanted to have another quick taste (between Malbec and Cab). Also, wanted bring to our cheese platter with us after tasting, to a terrace, to order a bottle of wine and continue eating our cheese w the wine, Denied! "No" you can't go sit 20 ft from where we sat for tasting and bring our cheese/meat platter with to pair with a bottle we want to drink. We left...this place felt strange, poor, un-logical customer service. No idea how to sell wine at a tasting. Sad but funny. We left. There are like 15 other wineries around SMA. Go somewhere else. Also, PET plastic, orange Bonafont water bottles everywhere during the tastings. Decent, crystal wine glasses, place settings, napkins, table, decor and pleasant atmosphere, all made to feel strangely awkward by plastic water bottles everywhere on all tables. A turn off when you are expecting something at a different level. Just pour me water in anything other than a plastic bottle. I guess it could be my fault as the Tres Raices winery in my book lives up to the same rating as the hotel (3 stars). Had I lowered my expectations, could have been fine.

We were told the tour lasted 2 hours. So we scheduled the 3:00 tour and dinner at 5:30. Tour was little more than us walking to a central vantage point and being told "over there are the hotel rooms, there is the chapel, there is the production facility. Then we toured the the production facility. Total was maybe 30 minutes. Had ALOT of time to kill so did a tasting and cheese tray Wines were ok. Ended up skipping dinner and calling a cab back early. Of all the things to do in the area. Nah. Skip this.

We had a terrible tasting at Tres Raices. We paid top dollar for their most expensive tasting and were extremely disappointed. They grouped us with a huge tour group (who had bought a cheap tasting), and just basically gave us the same tasting. They started with a cheap rosé, which is not supposed to be part of the premium tasting according to their Web site. We finally insisted on getting the # of reds we had paid for, and they found some wine that was so full of sediment it was milky. When we told the guy it was undrinkable, he said something like “Yeah, I saw that.” The sommelier gave us almost no information as he served the wines, just served them all as quickly as possible and barely said anything. The grounds are very nice and the restaurant is stunning.

It's impossible to order uber from there. We asked on reception, and staff of tres raices offer us their overpriced taxi for 550 peso((( It's very expensive, we came there for 170 peso. We were waiting for this overpriced taxi for an hour, although they said 20 minutes((( Before that they pretended for half an hour to look for other taxi for cheaper price, because we said it's too expensive. They frankly mocked at us and played for time when we will agree on this price. We spent 1,5 hour near entrance. Thank you for this disgusting experience. Imagine how much they earn cheating naive tourists. In whatsapp they offered a big cheese plate for 370, but when they brought check, it was 500, plus propina 10% from 700×2+500. Scammers! Excursion is short and simple, wines are so so, only one is good. The guide tells general facts, weak english. Grapes are covered with net.

We had a great experience with the wine and food, but unfortunately it was ruined by the bad service at the end. We asked for the front desk to order taxis so we could return to central San Miguel. On the third or fourth ask and 45 minutes later, Gabriel called a car and told us it was 20 minutes away. We waited an hour AFTER finishing our meal, just sitting by the front. He was completely clueless, unapologetic and 0% helpful. To add insult to the injury, the ride cost more than double than the journey to the winery and the winery staff played dumb and were no help. They clearly are not prepared or knowledgeable enough to provide a well rounded experience for guests. Do not go to this winery unless you are very clear on your transportation

I can't speak for the hotel, but we came for a wine tasting here and we left very disappointed. The price was approx. £60 ($80) for the two of us and was advertised as a 45 min tasting. We arrived to a construction site. I understand that renovations need to happen, but they had made no effort to make safe walkways and we had clamber over dirt piles to get to the restaurant. When we got inside we had to interrupt the staff chatting to say that we were there. A woman asked us if we wanted the tasting in Spanish or English and I replied in Spanish that while I speak Spanish my wife does not, that I would be happy to translate but it would be better if it could be in English. The server very visibly rolled her eyes at us. We were then introduced to Marco who spoke flawless English so I'm confused what the issue was? If you have a moral issue with not all the guests speaking Spanish, then maybe you shouldn't work somewhere that prices out the locals? Anyway, the tasting was really poor in quality. The wine itself was fine, we both enjoyed the tempranillo, but the three thimbles of wine were poured within 10 minutes and we were left sitting on our own. No explanation about the winery or history only this is a X grape and its won X industry award. Marco came back to ask for a tip which we declined. This was an expensive poor quality experience made worse by the fact that its out in the sticks so we had to hire a driver to bring us out to it. Later that afternoon we went to Cuna de Tierra which for more or less the same price did 4 wines, they spaces out the wines and explained their history with tasting notes and also provided nibbles, homemade bread and olive oil made at the winery. The experience was just a class above We felt looked after as opposed to a walking $ symbol at Tres raices.
