We absolutely love Intrepid. From the moment you walk in, the service is incredible – from the warm welcome at the host stand to the attentive, friendly servers throughout the meal. The food is just as impressive. The fish is incredibly fresh, the steak is perfectly tender, and every dish we’ve tried has been spot on. We’ve come here twice in less than three days, and we’re already planning to come back again before we head back to the US. Intrepid has quickly become our favorite spot in Bermuda – highly recommend. 🌟🍽️🐟🥩
We had the best time and even though the weather was no ones fault. The hotel was top rate. And accommodating for in hotel activities. The massages were amazing and Nicole was perfect. Giovanni at the bar was the best. I must admit I have a little crush on He had the best recipe for chocolate martinis and did not disappoint. Today was my last day but the sun was out finally and the beach club was perfect and exactly what was needed in an otherwise horrible year for me. Your staff was friendly and very attentive. Troy cleaned our room and did a wonderful job every day.
Exceptional property with outstanding service and fabulous amenities 🫶 Amazing! We had a Fairmont Gold room- the staff basically became our family and we could not be more thankful for Vitoria, Rolly, Peter, and Pasqual. Also Marquez hit us with the best fish sando rec!!!!!! Turn down service staff was so sweet and made sure to look out for us ensuring we had everything we needed. We loved dining with you and enjoyed the pools and Princess Beach Club. Next time we will make time for your spa because it looked great! Location to town was perfect. Highly recommend!!!!
Beautiful Hotel, rooms are kept immaculate, grounds are beautiful, pools are very well kept service is impeccable. Shuttles back and forth to private beach is consistent and on time. We will be definitely returning to his hotel in the future. Revised as of 9/28/2025 Well, we came back as promised and we unknowingly booked gold club. I have to say that this is definitely the way to go, the service here is unbelievable. The staff, Amit, Vitoria, Alisha, George, Peter, Pascoal, Rolly, and Eddie (who took our bags on both trips) and to everyone else in the club thank you so much! for making this an incredible vacation and making myself, my wife and my daughter feel so special everytime they walked into the lounge. From the daily breakfast to the afternoon tea to the evening hors d'oeuvres to the sweet offerings the food and service were top notch and added such a nice touch to an incredible hotel. The room that we stayed in was the Bermudian suite. It was such a nice room with an amazing view and such close proximity to the pool.house keeping were so great and attentive to our needs everyday. My family will definitely be returning to this and other fairmount properties in the future. Thanks to all the staff for making my family feel like we were a part of yours. 10/10 experience!!!!
What a wonderful experience we had at Hamilton Princess and Beach Club recently. We chose the FAIRMONT GOLD HARBORVIEW room to celebrate our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. The Fairmont Gold service was an exceptional experience. A week prior to our arrival I was contacted by Fairmont Gold Team with information about the Fairmont Gold experience and the Gold Lounge. Also, the team offered assistance with transportation and planning. I did request assistance with making a reservation at Intrepid on our anniversary. This was a good decision to have the Gold Team make the reservation as we would not have been able to dine there on our anniversary. On our arrival we were met at the Lobby door by Omar who escorted us to the Fairmont Gold 2nd floor for a private check-in outside of the exclusive Fairmont Gold Lounge. Our room was not ready as our early check-in request was not possible. We left our luggage and went to the 1609 Bar & Restaurant for a late lunch. Returned to the check-in desk at 4:15; our high floor room was ready, with a great view of the harbor and a large balcony with a chaise Lounge and dining table. The room had all the amenities and evening turndown service. Housekeeping was amazing. We used the complementary Jitney with AC to the beach Club that is a ~20-minute ride. Drivers were very sociable and pointed out sites of interest along the way. Upon arrival at the beach, we were greeted with a small fruit drink. There were plenty of complimentary Lounge Chairs and umbrellas. Drinks and food service is available, which was a subset of the menu at the 1609 Bar & Restaurant. The resort has 2 heated pools; one is adult only. We chose the infinity pool, which was amazing with complimentary lounge chairs under a pagoda. Our food and drink service provided poolside by Mariea, which was sourced at the1609 Bar & Restaurant. During our stay we dined at all 3 restaurants on property. Our Anniversary dinner at Intrepid was amazing. The service from the time we arrived until we left was just amazing. Our server Julian was excellent. I had the Chillian Sea Bass and my wife had the Salmon. Both were prepared perfectly. This was the best Sea Bass entree that I have ever experienced. We also dined one evening we dined at Crown and Anchor on the patio. Another great culinary experience provided by our server Christine. The resort is close to downtown Hamilton so you can walk to other restaurants, shops and to the Ferry Terminal. We chose to take the ferry to the dockyard one afternoon. We spent 5 nights at Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, what a wonderful property, but the Gold Team of Rolly, Pasqual, George, Peter and Victoria provided outstanding service in the Gold Lounge. This Fairmont Gold experience was nothing we had ever experienced, and it is the dedication of Gold Team members that make this experience possible. We are already planning our next visit Hamilton Princess and Beach Club
This was our fourth time staying here. The last two times we stayed in the Gold Level and this time we took advantage of all it had to offer and the staff in Gold Lounge was excellent from the day we checked in to the day we checked out. Always greeting us with a smile and a good morning, afternoon or evening 😃 Rolly was the best and went out of his way to accommodate us! Lisa serviced our room perfectly every day and she also went above and beyond!! We hope to get back before she retires in a couple years 😃😃 she services the 7th floor so I would recommend staying in one of her rooms.
We are having the best time at the Fairmont Princess! Stefan, Ariel, and the rest of the team at 1609 are nothing but amazing. There are 12 of us and every staff member has been so accommodating! I highly recommend checking out the vibes here as you will certainly receive the best most kind service!!! Not to mention drinks and food at each restaurant here (including the cafe) are absolutely delicious!! Rolly and the rest of the staff in the gold lounge are also THE NICEST humans and remembered all of our names and allergies. Thank you to our new Bermudian friends between the bellman, the restaurant staff, and more. We will certainly be coming back 🤍
We did not stay here but we had dinner at Intrepid and it was absolutely amazing! Our server Rafael was so lovely & congratulatory as we were celebrating our honeymoon. The food was unreal and the whole experience/atmosphere blew us away with an outdoor seat right at sunset. Highly recommend whether you are staying the hotel or just coming into town for dinner!
Had an amazing and relaxing stay with my husband for our baby moon! Pascol, Rolly, Peter, & Vitoria took AMAZING care of us in the lounge. They made the experience such a WOW! They are such wonderful people and we can't wait to see them when we visit again soon! Also--The beach is lovely and so quiet and the little bus ride is really easy.
I had the Birria, and it was a 10/10! Joy provided excellent service attentive, friendly, and professional throughout my visit. He made the experience even better. Highly recommend dining here and asking for Joy!
We truly appreciated the warm welcome from your staff. We had mentioned that we were married in Southampton 20 years ago, and to our surprise, a bottle of champagne and a cake were sent to our room to help us celebrate—such a thoughtful gesture! We also told one of your cleaners how much we love the Rose 31 soap, as it reminds us of our wedding. The next day, she left a couple of extra bars in our room, which was incredibly kind.

We stayed in a Fairmont Gold room, which was absolutely beautiful and made our trip feel extra special. The true highlight of our stay was the Fairmont Gold Lounge, where we were always warmly welcomed by Rolly. He went above and beyond every single day, making us feel like family and elevating our experience with his kindness, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality. Rolly was truly the star of the show and made our honeymoon unforgettable. The Beach Club was also fantastic — stunning views, excellent service, and a perfect place to relax and enjoy Bermuda’s beauty. Every staff member we encountered was professional, friendly, and eager to make sure we had the best possible stay. If you’re considering a honeymoon or special getaway in Bermuda, I cannot recommend the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club enough. Between the gorgeous accommodations, top-notch amenities, and the incredible people, it’s a destination we’ll never forget.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Mr. Vijay, and later in the afternoon a young receptionist (I forgot her name). They both were knowledgeable and friendly. Marilyn in Tntrepid offered us excellent service. The menu was fantastic. Under the supervision of the Maître d'hôtel, everything was above and beyond. Lina and Shanika in Crown & Anchor, they made me feel welcomed. The room was comfy and near water. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, it was crystal clear.
My wife has a severe gluten allergy and our waitress Olga was so helpful and accommodating. We were able to enjoy a delicious meal as a family without fear of anyone getting sick. The food was fantastic and perfectly cooked.
What a fabulous experience My husband and I were here for a week and everyday was a different experience. The hotel staff were amazing. So courteous and helpful. Rollo at breakfast in the Gold Room went over and above, as did the check-in staff and all the waiters. Our room was gorgeous and kept immaculately clean. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel, except I truly hope we will return , as it was one of the best vacations we have had. Thank you
My family and I visited Intrepid for my sisters 40th birthday and let me just say the food was amazinggggg but the service from Rafael was incredible and the true definition of great customer service. He even went over and beyond to make my 7 year old happy by even getting her some hot chocolate which isn’t even on the menu, and sending her with a small chocolate snack for tomorrow as she fell asleep after eating her dinner. Thank you again Rafael!
The staff makes this luxury hotel exceptional. The Gold Experience makes the stay even more special. Victoria and Alesha in the Gold Lounge spent considerable time making dinner reservations for us. Once this was completed it removed pressure to plan. Victoria and Alesha are gold. At the front reception desk I found another staff member who is equally worth her weight in gold - Savannah. In a pinch and not able to get to the Golf Lounge, Savannah weighed in as though she was on the Concierge staff. Indeed she has a bright future at a higher than her current level because of her natural talents in the hospitality field. We thank these fine staff members for making our visit at the Princess enjoyable and memorable.
Another visit to the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club, and another wonderful and warm stay. We do our best to visit twice a year and each time our stay is better than the last. The Fairmont team at this hotel are just so wonderful and warm - they make you feel so special. The property itself is beautiful and clean - with all of the amenities needed to relax and enjoy the Bermuda charm.
It has taken me way too long to write this review but I just was telling someone what a wonderful trip we had in July and decided to finally leave a review. Everything about our experience was wonderful, from our awesome suite with a huge balcony to the extra attention we received as gold level guests. I definitely recommend going gold if you are able to! The complimentary buffets each day and the beautiful indoor and outdoor lounge was such a nice extra and everyone was so attentive! BUT there is one person who stood out above all others for us and that was Rolly. We were there with our 20 year old daughter and 17 year old son and Rolly would come over anytime he saw them, especially our son, and have wonderful conversations with him. Both our kids just thought he was the best! We can’t wait to come back again next summer!
We really enjoyed our stay at Hamilton Princess. The location is perfect! Close to the small shops, caffes.. Room were clean, but I would say what we’ve appreciated most was the staff. They were so kind and helpful, and made us feel like at home.
I stayed at the Hamilton Princess with my mom for 6 nights. It was the best hotel experience we had! The staff took really good care of us, very friendly and professional. Thank you again to Lina, Blyton, Joy, Aldrin, Jennifer and unfortunately I can’t remember the name of our servers at the intrepid restaurant. Also the staff at the concierge were very helpful! I can’t say enough how much we liked it and I will definitely come back again!
Pascoal, George, Peter & Rolly were an amazing team in the Gold Room! They made sure that we had an incredible and delicious food experience, they entire vacation was above our expectations. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking around Hamilton and dining options. The beach shuttle bus runs on time and the beach is beautiful and loved having the water sports available at all times.
While visiting Bermuda, we stopped at the Hamilton Princess to check it out. Damien at the door was so friendly and kind. He showed us around. We went to the Intrepid for dinner and we LOVED every moment because of the amazing staff. From the moment we walked up the stairs, Lloyd greeted us and found us a table. Hewa was our waiter and he took such great care of us. We laughed so much together. Hands down, we will be back! Everyone we came in contact with treated us like royalty. Thank you!!! My partner made a birthday surprise for me booking a weekend away at the Princess hotel and we just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff that looked after us and made our stay unforgettable; especially to Ariel from 1609, Jessa and Michael at the Intrepid and Sam at the pool. Absolutely amazing, fun and so attentive stuff made the stay very personable and so enjoyable. We will definitely be back!
A Beautiful Stay, but a Major Accessibility Disappointment - Please Address! Our recent stay at the Hamilton Princess in beautiful Bermuda was, in many ways, delightful. The island itself is stunning, and we found the staff to be universally gracious and welcoming throughout our visit. However, we experienced a significant and deeply disappointing issue that we feel compelled to highlight. We specifically booked the Hamilton Princess because we were explicitly informed – both during the reservation process and again upon check-in by the front desk staff – that the hotel was equipped with a handicapped chair lift for pool access. This news filled us with immense excitement, particularly for our friend traveling with us, who is paralyzed from the waist down. The thought of him being able to independently enter the pool was something he genuinely looked forward to and a rare treat. Imagine our profound disappointment and heartbreak when we arrived at the pool area only to discover there was no chair lift present. The false promise of this crucial amenity completely overshadowed what would have otherwise been a very pleasant stay. For someone with a disability, the ability to enjoy something as simple as a swim can be a powerful and liberating experience, and the misinformation felt like a cruel oversight. This experience highlights a critical need for improved staff education. It is imperative that all hotel employees, especially those handling reservations and guest check-ins, are fully aware of the actual accessibility features available on the property. This would prevent such a significant and avoidable disappointment for future guests with disabilities. Furthermore, we strongly urge the Hamilton Princess to consider investing a small fraction of its resources to install a proper pool chair lift. This addition would not only align with the gracious service we otherwise experienced but would genuinely transform the experience for guests with mobility challenges, allowing them to fully enjoy all the beautiful amenities your hotel offers. We hope our feedback prompts meaningful change so no other guest experiences this same, profound letdown.
My mother and I first stayed at the Hamilton Princess this year in April with my aunt and uncle, for my aunt and mother to celebrate their "milestone" birthdays this year; and when it came time for my mother to decide what she wanted to do for her actual birthday in September, she wanted to return, as the April visit was so great. From the moment we arrived, and Vitoria checked us in, she made it feel like we never left; and with every visit to the Gold Lounge Rollie, Pascoal, George and the rest of the staff made the experience exceptional. The whole team even came out on the morning of my mother's birthday to sing her Happy Birthday and bring her a muffin with a candle, making her birthday truly special from the start. The entire property is top notch, but the Gold Team takes the entire experience and stay to another level, and I can't wait to return.
I travel on business to Bermuda around the same time each year. I've found the Hamilton Princess to be a warm, inviting, clean hotel, supported by kind and helpful staff. I can also walk from the hotel to most of the locations that I interact with. It's my go to hotel.
My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess in Bermuda to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We were so happy with our stay. Location, service, amenities and dining options were amazing. We loved our time at the Beach Club and the jitney transportation there was smooth and convenient. Highly recommend dinner at Intrepid and lunch at 16O9. At check-in, we were surprised with an upgrade to a much bigger room than the one we had booked - a beautiful corner suite with incredible views of the marina and harbour - and to have champagne and a cheese board delivered to our room as a welcome gift from concierge. The hotel made our stay very special. We will definitely be back!
Hamilton princess gold rooms offer luxury and exceptional services. The lounge staff take care of every need. Especially Rolly, Pascoal, George abd Peter. Concierge staff goes above and beyond. Victoria has taken care of us for years. House keeping our favorite is Miss Lisa. She is the best
We (6 of us) celebrated our friend’s birthday at the Crown & Anchor and had a fantastic time. Ronald was an excellent waiter. He had a great sense of humor and attention to detail. He was very professional. Thank you for a great time
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Hamilton Princess. We enjoyed everything about the property. The restaurants were all wonderful. Loved the breakfast buffet! We celebrated our anniversary dinner at Intrepid, the service was impeccable. We ordered room service and that was fantastic. Service in the coffee shop was quick. The beach club was our favorite with two evenings spent there with the beach dinners. The beach club during the day was wonderful, drinks and food delivered to us on the lounge chairs, and the beach toys were fun! Our housekeeping was on point too!! Best Vacation so far!!
The Hamilton Princess is my favorite restaurant and hotel on island. Fernandes and Pauline were our servers for the night. They were very attentive and gave excellent service. I was very impressed!
We visit the island every year and always stay at the Hamilton Princess, the hotel is beautiful, the service outstanding, we love the beach club and appreciate the proximity to town. This year we had a new experience and stayed on the gold floor with lounge access --A special shout out and thank you to Rolly and the rest of the team for taking such good care of us every morning and afternoon!! My wife and I visited Bermuda to celebrate our 25th anniversary and chose to stay at the Princess Hotel, as we had several years ago. The upgrades since our last visit were fine although a few decorations were puzzling. Irrespective, our visit was very enjoyable at it was made even more special by the gold lounge staff. We relied upon Alicia several times to arrange our reservations and for general advice and she was always pleasant and professional. She made us feel welcomed and ensured that we were well served. We were also treated very well by George and Peter. Both were completely attentive and served us with joyful and sometimes mischievous attitudes - very, very much fun and very charming! Thanks so much to each of you!
We stayed for almost two weeks and were really impressed with the entire experience. The hotel has undergone extensive renovations in recent times and the rooms are now really very nice indeed. They are spacious with great bathrooms and we also had a lovely balcony with a beautiful view. It's important to note that we found the staff at the Hamilton Princess to be really very friendly and also efficient. Special mention to Keishaun at Intrepid and Rebecca at Crown & Anchor, but honestly everyone was great. This included housekeeping who were always cheery and friendly. We previously lived in Bermuda and therefore had little need to stay at the hotel, although we would use the bars and restaurants fairly regularly. It's nice to see how much the hotel has evolved in a positive way in recent times. On our floor there were some corporate offices and staff meeting rooms. It seemed to me that this space was in use for training purposes regularly, and I think this is showing in the overall offering, which is refreshing. On a final note, the art collection at the Hamilton Princess is probably one of the world's best hotel collections of contemporary art and is worth a visit in its own right.
I love this hotel and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff is professional, attentive, and friendly. The room I started with was beautiful with a sizable balcony, closet, and bathroom. Unfortunately when I switched into one with gold lounge access, the room type was downgraded and the balcony, bathroom, and closet were approximately half the size. However there was added value with the gold lounge which was lovely as was the added turndown service. I also ordered room service a few times which was wonderful. The main piece de resistance is the incredible art collection. My room was directly across from 3 original Piet Mondrians and down a few from an original Matisse. Just amazing.
(This review is only of the food at Intrepid as we didn’t stay at the hotel) My husband and I brought our baby to Intrepid and had a surprisingly phenomenal experience. Our server Oleana was so kind and accommodating and even took time to entertain the baby during dinner. And the food!! We started with some sushi rolls and crudo and were blown away by the freshness of all the fish. This is really, really great sushi. Then we had the steak flight and found out they take their beef just as seriously. They let each diner choose their own steak knife which is fun. The steaks were perfectly cooked, so juicy and flavorful. Was worried this place would be overly corporate with all the business travelers and couldn’t believe we had such a top notch meal here. Also, we checked out the art collection before dinner- it is world class. What an amazing experience!
The Princess is famous for a reason! Fabulous location on the water and walking distance to Hamilton, excellent world class service, and the most fantastic art collection. This hotel is a living pop art and modern art gallery which is such a fun addition. Intrepid is a fantastic restaurant. The infinity pool is amazing. The gold lounge is lovely and Rolly, Alisha, and Pascoal specifically are the best part of it. Their service is top notch and people come back year after year. The spa is wonderful—I had a massage by Thabang and it was excellent.
Our experience at the Hamilton Princess was truly exceptional. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to assist. Grace @ Crown & Anchor: Grace was outstanding—always smiling and ensuring our group was well taken care of. We built a wonderful connection with her, and she makes the best cappuccino we have ever had. It quickly became our morning ritual. Sam @ The Pool: Sam was our dedicated server during our time at the pool. Each day, he introduced us to the specials and went out of his way to make us feel valued and welcomed. His service showed us that hospitality at the pool can be just as remarkable as in fine restaurants. Olga @ 1609: Olga provided us with an authentic Hamilton experience, enriched by her thoughtful touch of engaging with us in Spanish. This personal connection made us feel part of a shared community and added something truly special to our visit. Christian & Hannah @ Intrepid: Our experience was very interactive and helpful. We also had the pleasure of engaging with Christian the captain and Hannah the host. The service and atmosphere were so outstanding that we returned for dinner a second time.
We came for a week long girl friend vacation to celebrate my friend 50th birthday! Fairmount Gold Experience makes the stay exceptional!. Between the stunning 1 bedroom suite signature with the breathtaking view and terrace, the beach and the amazing infinity pool all the ingredients for a princess stay! But the most amazing is without contest, the people!! From your arrival to your departure you are treated like royalty- thank you to Alisha, Rolly, Peter and Pascual at the Gold Lounge you made our stay truly memorable! A special thank you to Leah for the most amazing massage!!! The best I had in years!
The Hamilton Princess is one of the best resorts I’ve stayed at. From the clean, spacious rooms, to the beautiful property, many amenities, delicious food and five star service, it can’t be beat. My favorite thing about staying there is the wonderful staff, they are friendly, attentive and professional. I’ve stayed at this resort several times and it feels like home. Looking forward to my next visit!
Overall very enjoyable stay. Clean facilities, centrally located. There was a mixup with a dinner reservation and big thank you to Morgan for service recovery. Olivier at the Intrepid provided excellent service and helped turn our experience around. Ahmet at the front desk was attentive to our room change and breakfast detail needs as well as one of the Managers whose name I don’t remember. Virendra and Shanik at breakfast rounded out our stay nicely.
We stayed at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess for my brother’s wedding, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about our experience. From top to bottom, the service was absolutely amazing — every single team member went above and beyond to make sure our family was taken care of. A special shoutout to the incredible Gold Floor staff, especially Peter and Damon, who made us feel truly at home. Their attention to detail, kindness, and professionalism were second to none. The banquet team deserves huge praise as well — the wedding was stunning, the food was fantastic, and the entire event ran perfectly thanks to their hard work and organization. I also want to highlight Troy from housekeeping, who was absolutely fantastic. He went out of his way to make sure our rooms were spotless and that we had everything we needed. Our family felt genuinely cared for every step of the way. The Fairmont Hamilton Princess made an already special occasion unforgettable, and we can’t wait to return. I stayed here for three nights and was very well looked after. Enjoyed great food and drinks but particularly 1) The guy looking after the family pool area was great, friendly and attentive. 2) I made use of the spa facilities, so a special mention to Molly who provided the most amazing massage experience for my knotted muscles!
A short staycation was made so much better by your attentive and thoughtful staff. The room was perfect and an upgrade accomodated all our family members. I made a special request which I didn’t think would be possible. To my surprise it was and it kept the whole family happy and together. We are so grateful for the special memories.
Beautiful hotel but no beach access. We upgraded to club room, which was totally not worth it since they charged for alcoholic beverages. If I knew, I would never have upgraded. Even the room itself was not worth it. Either way the staff was friendly, especially Maria by the pool. She was lovely, sweet and always smiling. Very attentive and friendly.
My family and I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Rolly and Pascoal during our week-long stay at the Hamilton Princess Fairmont Gold lounge, and their service truly exceeded every expectation. From the very beginning, they welcomed us with warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness that made our vacation unforgettable. What made our experience even more special was how incredibly sweet and lovable they were with our baby girl, who turned one during our stay. Their extra care, attention, and affection toward her meant the world to us as parents. They celebrated her, made her smile every single day, and made her birthday week feel even more memorable. Throughout the entire week, Rolly and Pascoal consistently went above and beyond—remembering our preferences, anticipating our needs, and always greeting us with the brightest smiles. Their dedication, attention to detail, and heartfelt service made us feel truly cared for. The resort is incredibly lucky to have such wonderful people on their team. We are deeply grateful for everything Rolly and Pascoal did for us, and we will always remember the warmth and joy they brought to our family during this special week. We hope to see them again on our next visit!
We split our Bermuda stay with a wonderful local Airbnb Hamilton apartment and then at this Fairmont Hotel. Upon entering the hotel property from the steep hill, nobody assisted my wife and I with our luggage. Not ONE offer of help. We had to wheel our suitcases up the hill and on to the “Gold” desk on the second floor. It was clear we were walking up from the main road, yet ZERO assistance. A lady with a suitcase and bag - have some manners and help! This is not rocket science. It’s simple. Really simple actually. 5* establishment - really? Poor start. When paying substantial monies for a “gold” standard, your expectations should also be raised. Here’s an idea, at the very very least - get the entrance service right! First impressions last. Alisha kindly assisted us with an early check in. She explained the gold service product in great detail and what we could expect. Unfortunately, as Accor silver members an upgrade was unavailable. We were told the hotel has a high occupancy rate. Meh. It is incredibly quiet! Whilst this is an older hotel, the amazing artwork (which is virtually everywhere you look) and upkeep of areas is acceptable. Some carpets and areas are showing substantial wear and tear. The room was clean, tidy, high standard, of good size with great harbour views. Totally acceptable. Hurricane Melissa. God bless her! Flights cancelled as the island prepared for lockdown. Stressful is an understatement. Malisa and Vitoria stepped up and took matters over. They were able to extend our stay at a price with zero fuss. They showed true empathy and compassion. An example of the high standard of “gold service”. A few issues to highlight: 1. Gold rooms should have an evening turn down service. This had to be chased on occasion. Consistency should be a given. Not great. 2. The lift was out of order one evening and repaired the following day. These things happen. But! Stairs were the only way to get around (6th floor last up)! No alternative lifts for the gold rooms as “the ballroom is in use”. Not great. 3. We ate at both the “crown & anchor” and “1609” restaurants. Both were pretty awful - refer to the separate reviews. I’d avoid these and eat out if you have to. Not great. 4. A package addressed to a random person was left in our room. We called downstairs and informed the desk. Nobody collected. The following day we received an "urgent" call requesting the package as the guest was checking out. Why not act on my initial call? Not great. 5. Help clients with baggage where entering and leaving the hotel - not one offer of assistance at check-in nor check-out. A final point. The staff at this hotel are amazing. Every member of staff greeted you kindly and the respect shown was simply outstanding. The gold lounge staff were next level.
I came to this hotel for a bridge tournament. I enjoyed the artwork throughout the hotel and the self guided tour. The spa and fitness staff were exceptional. I enjoyed the proximity of the hotel to front street allowing me to go on daily walks around Hamilton. The room had thin walls where I needed earplugs to prevent noise from outside windows and fellow travelers’ conversations and televisions. The main reason for my low rating is as follows. When I arrived I was quoted a price of stay higher than what was quoted to me online. I asked what the price increase was for. They stated it was for taxes, gratuity, and government fees. This was understandable and I agreed to the price. At checkout the price increased again. I again asked what the price increase was for and was quoted the same reason. So the price went up twice from what I was quoted online. I will not be back to this hotel.
Very nice hotel. Staff very friendly. No access into pools if you are in a wheelchair. We stayed for four days in Sept 2025 and liked hotel but were very surprised a Hotel/Resort of this type had no pool lifts for wheelchair users. I know they do not have ADA laws like other Countries but it's 2025, this is supposedly a top tier hotel and a pool lift cost about as much as two nights in a handicap room. No excuse for this, it (they) need to get installed.
The hotel was well located and comfortable. We were very happy with our room. Housekeeping, the doorman, and all the folks in the restaurant were wonderful. We didn’t care much for the front desk. The gentleman who checked me in said maybe three words to me and couldn’t even get me to the right elevator for our rooms. We were also not told about all amenities available, such as a shuttle that would’ve taken us to the hotel’s private beach. We learned about this from our cab driver. Overall, I thought the hotelwas a little pricey, considering what we got.
As a frequent business traveler who stays in high-end hotels often, I was disappointed with the room quality at this resort given its five-star rating. The sheets were worn and pilling, and there was no proper mattress encasement. The mattress itself was exposed and a partial pad was placed in the center of the mattress. This did nothing more than retain body and sweat odors from previous guests. It felt unclean and unhygienic. Noise was also a problem. Hallway conversations and noise from neighboring rooms was clearly audible. More sound insulation would be expected at a hotel of this caliber. On the bright side, the staff provided excellent service at every interaction, from the doormen to the restaurant staff. I also highly recommend The Duchess, and anyone who comes here should be sure to grab a coffee and chocolate chip cookie. The staff was great and the pool area is beautiful, but the poor sleep experience outweighed the positives. I would not return unless the room issues were resolved and hygienic bedding practices are implemented.
