We visited the restaurant for dinner with our family of three and were immediately impressed by the decor throughout. We were particularly captivated by the blue hallway with mirrors on the ceiling :) Our experience began with a warm welcome from the bartender, Jess, who not only seated us at our table but also served our drinks. We were delighted with Jess's wine recommendation: the Gavi di Gavi DOCG la Meirana, and we thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails as well. Our service continued seamlessly with James, who engaged us in pleasant conversation and was attentive at just the right moments. For appetizers, we sampled three types of fresh bread — the sourdough being my personal favorite — and delicious green olives. For starters, we had the delectable arancini and fegatini, with the chicken liver nicely cooked and served on a slice of bread. For the main courses, we ordered two Dover soles and one Steak & Lobster. The Dover soles were exceptionally fresh and delicious. Manager Simone expertly filleted the fish, leaving not a single bone! Our steak was perfectly cooked and well-rested, while the lobster was well-seasoned and served halved. However, the claws were not pre-cracked, making some of the flesh difficult to reach. Providing lobster cutlery would enhance this impressive dish. The dessert platter, Dolci con Amici, allowed us to sample multiple desserts in one dish. The semifreddo stood out with its chocolatey and creamy delight, and the tiramisu was simply outstanding—a strong recommendation. The panna cotta was perfect for those with a sweet and fruity palate, and the millefoglie would appeal to those who enjoy a fruity pastry that isn’t too sweet. Manager Stefano also checked in regularly to ensure our experience was smooth and enjoyable. The restaurant was bustling with a semi-open kitchen concept. While the energy was lively, replacing the techno background music with a more calming melody could help balance the overall noise level. Before coming to the restaurant, we had read several negative reviews about poor dishes or service experiences, especially from the first weeks of the restaurant's opening. However, based on our experience, Piccolino Henley is definitely on the right path to improvement. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and we will definitely be returning!
Shared a birthday celebration for my boyfriend and Michele’s service was top tier! He had an easy-going yet highly progressional demeanour which made our dining experience all the more pleasurable. We dined from the set menu, calamari was 11/10 and the mains were just as tasty! Thank you Michele!
Amazing food....I mean exceptional food. Working away in Henley and came here on a Tuesday evening while morris dancers were entertaining us as we sat outside in the stunning market square. Pasta was fresh and incredibly tasty......so good we came back here on the following day to try out different food from their menu. Highly recommend 👌
I had a great experience at Piccolino. The branzino was cooked perfectly—flaky and flavorful. The pizza was decent, not the best I’ve had but still enjoyable. The ambience was really nice, with a relaxed vibe and comfortable seating. We had no problem getting a table, which made the whole night easy and pleasant. Definitely worth checking out! PART 2 I WENT BACK FOR MY DINNER SERIES let me tell you it hit even better. The fish again just absolutely pure amazingness. I also had some ice cream wow I mean it was so warm and so chocolatey and so delicious and sweet and hot everything in my taste buds were amazing would love to come back definitely going to be a stable in my future reassurance here !
First time visiting Piccolino and I can confidently say it will not be our last! The interior is stunning and spacious . The staff were very professional and welcoming. Matilde and Fadil took care of us and made sure our dining experience was a 10/10! The food was incredible, calamari and arancini flavourful and hot. The steak was cooked to perfection and prawn linguini is delicious. My only regret was that we didn’t get dessert, we were stuffed! Can’t wait to be back to try more dishes. Thank you for the wonderful experience
Really enjoyed my meal here. The food was great and the service was spot on. Bogdan looked after me well — friendly, efficient, and attentive without hovering. Would happily come back.
Absolutely loved it! Such a lovely team of people the staff were very attentive and accommodating. The food was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice restaurant with great food and service!
ABSOLUTELY SENSATIINAL SERVICE. our lovely waitress matilde was one of a kind and we will definitely be returning as the food and drinks were amazing
Had a really great time tonight celebrating my birthday. We were served by Rakesh who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was on point, I must recommend the focaccia and truffle tagliatelle. Amazing! Will be back soon 😀
Piccolino was the perfect spot for our Valentine’s meal. The set menu for the occasion was beautifully curated, and our waiter, Remo, was wonderful - so attentive and welcoming throughout. A big thank you to all the staff for making it such a lovely evening.
This cosy and modern restaurant offers excellent quality food. The fritto misto was better than the ones we tried in Naples and both the pizza and pasta were tasty, well seasoned and without a hint of sugar, as it seems to be the norm in many dishes nowadays. The desserts were overpriced for what they were, which is a pity, but we'll be back for the faultless starters and mains.
Another wonderful family lunch at the Henley Piccolinos today. Lovely surprise to have the Sunday roasts back on the menu. The roast beef was out of this world! Not surprised as I have never had a bad meal here. Love the decor and atmosphere. The staff manage that perfect balance of attentive but relaxed. Can't recommend it enough.
We went here last minute after the restaurant we had booked couldn’t accommodate us as someone had sat at our table. The staff here were so accommodating and friendly ( 6th December around 5pm). They helped us pick a good day to park a pram and went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The vodka martini was the best one yet.
We once again had a brilliant experience for a light lunch at Piccolino we are always greeted with a warm welcome. Tommy on the bar always has a smile on his face and makes great cocktails. Customer service and food quality are second to none.
It's a shame this place wasn't busier. The food was very nice and great service. The wine was a bit pricey but overall we had a great time. Would we go again. Absolutely.
MATILDE made a life changing meal for us and my friends absolutely top ten serveice I wouldn’t want anyone else ! She was amazing I couldn’t believe how efficient and on top she was she gave insane recommendations- SHE will be the reason I’m returning no one understands how amazing she is - she was something else .
Well, we had a jolly lovely time. It has a fabulously, stylish interior and warm atmosphere. The team were delightful and the service was smooth despite this being a new opening and training ongoing. Cocktails were beautifully presented, with a modern twist. Cheese plate could do with a little more pizzaz, but, overall, super food, menu and wine list. Also dog friendly in the front bar and roofed courtyard restaurant!
It’s an alfresco restaurant during summer . I love poccolino I always go to the Virginia water one but today while we were Walking we just walk in here and sit under the sun with a cup of fresh mint tea . Amazing . They have yummy pasta and desserts are awesome thought I didn’t eat anything today . But I love their ravioli ( lobster & crab meat one ) kids friendly . Parking is not free but near by paid parking lot you can park
Visited at lunch time for birthday treat Staff lovely Food presentation excellent Very nice cuisine and lots of choice Drinks a bit pricey but it’s Henley I guess I noticed a few guests had problems with bills for some strange reason Very nice experience would recommend and will visit again
Piccolino Henley offers an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant is beautifully styled, blending classic Italian charm with a modern touch, and the atmosphere is both elegant and welcoming. The service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food. Every dish was superb, from the creamy burrata and perfectly crisp calamari starters to the tagliatelle Bolognese and cooked to perfection sea bass mains. The wine pairings were spot-on, and the desserts, especially the tiramisu, were unforgettable. Little details, like the fresh bread service and stunning terrace views, made the evening even more special. Piccolino Henley truly delivers exceptional food, service, and ambiance — we can’t wait to return.
Thank for accommodating us in a busy weekend . Specially when the front Terrance was all sold out... Big thank you go to Alphonso and his staff for looking after us all the time making our dinner very special. Will be back very soon. Well done
Lovely evening with my friends!!! Had a few cocktails with my friends, the staff was incredible. Needed to escape the cold and this place was perfect.
We dropped into Henley for a quick lunch yesterday. We sat on the terrace, which was already a very pleasant thing to be able to do. Service was universally charming and very prompt. The dishes, linguine with clams and crab ravioli, were delicious. So, thank you all for a lovely meal.
Food was excellent, very enjoyable lunch. Grace looked after us very well. Thank you
Great evening, fab food as usual, Bogdan was a fantastic waiter, really looked after us.
We have been here a couple of times now and are always incredibly impressed. The staff are brilliant, so friendly and they make you so feel special ( we went for a birthday) the food is absolutely delicious so flavourful, rich and beautiful presented. And the atmosphere and decor definitely follow suit as well everything about piccolino has been thought out and executed perfectly. Couldn’t recommend it more! It’s certainly become our go to place for any occasion. Our waitress the first night we came was called Dominika and she was so attentive, personable and just all round fantastic! Thank you so much for a lovely experience
Piccolino Henley's Sunday Roast is a must-try for anyone looking for a delicious, Italian-inspired meal in a lovely setting. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was lively without being too loud. Don't miss their Sunday Roast, and be sure to book ahead, especially for larger groups. Thank you
My friend took me here for a birthday lunch. We hadn't booked but plenty of space. We chose the lunchtime special menu.,as there was plenty of dishes to choose from..We started with nonalcoholic cocktail ,which arrived very quickly. I had brushetta to start, followed by lasagne and salad. The food was delicious, tasty and well presented. They then brought me a lovely mousse cake as a birthday surprise and sang Happy Birthday! All the staff were amazing and so polite and friendly. A brilliant place, I shall certainly go again soon.
Michele looked after us today and was extremely warm and welcoming. Both him and Francesco are extremely polite and knowledgeable of the menu and drinks, and both very attentive to us for anything we needed. Highly recommend!!
Absolutely stunning. This was my first time visiting a Piccolino and I was blown away, the service was the best I’ve ever experienced and the food was of exceptional quality. A warm, comfortable restaurant, I would happily visit again. Big thanks to Tai for their hospitality
Absolutely loved Piccolino! The food was amazing, fresh and full of flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel truly welcome. I will be back for sure.
Wonderful service and exceptional food. The set menu is great value. Special mention to Michele and Remo who are gracious hosts and make Piccolino an authentic corner of Italy in the heart of Henley on Thames.
Food was unreal, service was 10/10, always filling wine glasses up and been very attentive to the table. Will 100% recommend to friends and family.
Visited for lunch and couldn’t have been happier! Awesome food, generous plates and service as you would expect but so many get wrong. Will be sure to visit again😎
Me and my friends had dinner last night here. It was amazing. The food, the service, everything outstanding. Thank you from all the staff
Piccolino’s is a 10 minute walk from our home and is already a firm favourite, within just a few weeks of its opening. They’ve done a great job with a difficult old building: it has a series of linear rooms and the main space is barn-like, yet the whole restaurant feels coherent, stylish, and welcoming with a good atmosphere. Our dinner yesterday was for a special celebration, and started with a glass each of very good prosecco on the house. We followed with a bottle of the same. Each of our dishes (burrata al pomodoro, spedini di pesce, affogato, and Italian artisan cheeses) were delicious and perfectly cooked. On other visits we’ve enjoyed the capesante (king scallops), the ravioli di granchio (fresh pasta with crab and prawn filling with lobster sauce), and the strawberry panna cotta. The front of house welcome and the table service were friendly, professional, and prompt - as on each of our visits. And, more by luck than design, we’ve mostly eaten here on days when our IR Club membership has given us 15% off the bill.
Came to eat for Henley regatta. It’s a new restaurant in Henley, we had a pleasant greeting, the reception took our coats, we weee escorted to our table. A cosy side area, reached by walking through a delightful walkway illuminated with had blue stone floor. See pics. We had shared started, I had the children’s menu as don’t eat much, served initially by sam then picked up by someone else. Food was good. Fresh, well presented, tasty, correct temperature and good portions. There is a la carte and a set menu. We had a mix of both. Service on the slower side despite it not being too busy, Prosecco initially served warm but Sam made up for this. Would return. Thought it was going to be like prezzo, zizzi or pizza express but much better food. Just could do with quicker service.
Beautiful atmosphere, very professional staff. My food tasted great, but my husband's food tasted bland, my portion was fine and larger than his, his pasta was very small in size, so he wasn't happy about that. Other than that, very nice atmosphere and professional staff
I came for my dad’s birthday a few weeks ago, I have been before and it was fantastic but this time was a little different. Food was brilliant and tasty as always , but the service was very slow and it was almost like it was a chore to be served . Wine service was not great having to top up our own drinks constantly. And I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and it wasn’t acknowledged at all even with a dessert plate or mentioned by the server . I could see other tables around us receiving a birthday gesture . Such a shame as I love the food but this time was very let down .
Francesco was a fantastic host, and so was the rest of the serving staff. Food took quite a long time to arrive but was perfect when it eventually did!
We had high hopes, but the service completely ruined the experience. After ordering, we got our drinks quickly — and then nothing. We waited almost an hour without anyone checking on us. No updates, no food, no explanation. We had a baby with us, and the long wait made it even harder. When the food finally came, no one even asked if we wanted cheese with our pasta. That’s such a basic part of Italian dining — how did they miss that? At the end, we gave feedback and had to ask them to remove the service charge. Should we really be paying for service that barely existed? The staff gave us a quick “sorry,” but the whole thing felt like they didn’t really care. The wagyu lasagna and pizza were great. But good food doesn’t excuse bad service — and we left feeling ignored and frustrated.
Good: Delicious food, beautiful decor. Bad: We had a parade of about eight different wait staff, there was a giant plant next to us which kept poking my friend's ear, and two of us ordered the Rustica pizza, but when one of the many waiters brought them out he said they were Amalfitanas, and the toppings were actually for a pizza that didn't even exist on the menu. Incredibly, he and another waiter insisted that they were really Rusticas, and the second waiter said they just like to change ingredients sometimes. We pointed out that that is not OK, especially for people with allergies. We could see that he was not going to see the problem and the pizzas were close enough that we found it easier to just give up and eat what we hadn't ordered. But I feel the need to post here to warn people with allergies to be very careful.
Mixed experience ! It was such a shame because the lady at the bar was lovely and so were the waitresses and waiters. However, as I was brought to my table which happened to be at the back of the restaurant infront of the kitchen, two men in there were pointing and jeering at me as I walked past. This made me uncomfortable from the beginning and throughout my meal, the blonde gentleman specifically, was pointing at me, laughing, and making loud noises. You don’t expect to be treated so nicely by the front of house staff but be cat called and jeered at by the men in the kitchen. It really soured the whole experience. Shame because the food was lovely.
Underwhelmed by the food to be honest! The service was clinical and the Main meal - Penne Arrabiata - was pretty tasteless. Thin sauce and obviously quickly prepared with no depth of flavour. Will not be going back!
No issues with the staff themselves, as it's clearly a change from the company. Picollino's used to be worth what you were paying for it. Pasta would look deceptively small but I'd always end up feeling full (and I eat a lot). The past year they've clearly gone down in quality and portion sizes. But today was absolutely ridiculous. I ordered a pasta and mushroom dish I can't remember the name of, and let me tell you, it was the smallest portion size I'd ever seen. The mushrooms were essentially flakes, and there was barely any pasta. I came out of that restaurant still absolutely starving. My wife's food at least looked better. These restaurants have become overpriced and the food doesn't even taste as good anymore. There are other restaurants where you can get better tasting food, larger portions, for less money.
I really like Piccolino, having been to several of their branches.Excellent pasta and good value set lunches. The Henley branch is vast- several interconnecting rooms of various styles and a nice terrace. This time we the four of us thought we'd go for the Bistecca alla Fiorentina and relive a recent Tuscany trip. The meat, although plentiful, was very undercooked despite us asking for medium. The taste, texture and seasoning was underwhelming. Some OK spuds and some overcooked friarielli ( a broccoli type veg) were the accompanying dishes. The desserts (cherry Semifreddo) were fantastic. However when the bill came we were a bit taken aback... probably our fault mostly - but not all of it. The four of us old folks had read the menu as £50 per steak under the sharing section, not noticing the "£50 per person" in tiny type next to the description. We mentioned this to the manageress who readily admitted we weren't the first to have fallen for this. And to her credit she comped us the deserts. But a £50 main course price was poor value for what it was. Next time we'll stick to pasta and dessert. It also has to be mentioned that the previous excellent loyalty scheme has all but been abandoned - no longer do you get money back for your next meal and very little of interest has replaced it.Which is probably why we don't go as often as we used to. Times are hard and maybe Piccolino are feeling the pinch but caveat emptor.
I visited this evening and was initially greeted with a warm welcome, which set a positive tone. We sat outside and ordered two drinks and one pizza. The drinks arrived quickly, but the pizza took a full hour. About 45 minutes in, someone let us know it was in the oven and would be out soon, but there was no follow-up or offer of another drink while we waited. When the pizza eventually arrived, it was brought to the wrong table first — we had to wave to let them know it was ours. There was no apology for the wait. Unfortunately, there was also a hair on the pizza, which looked like a beard hair. I put it to the side and didn’t make a fuss, but it added to the overall disappointment. After that, we were left alone for quite some time. No one checked in to ask if the food was okay, if we needed anything else, or even to offer more drinks. I eventually had to call someone over to ask for the bill. The table was cleared without any acknowledgement of how the meal had been. Still, the bill never arrived, so I went inside to pay. When I asked for the service charge to be removed, it was taken off with no questions or interest in why. As someone with a hospitality background, I find this kind of experience frustrating because the basics weren’t being done. There was no sectioning of staff, no ownership of tables, and no anticipation of guest needs — not even a simple, “How is everything?” or “Can I get you another drink?” Service should reflect actual care and attention, not just be automatically added to the bill. If there is no real service, why is a charge being applied? The venue has so much potential, but without staff who are trained to care or empowered to engage, it ends up being an underwhelming experience. I won’t be returning or recommending it.
I can hostly say one of the worst meals I have ever eaten . Very inexperienced staff and we ordered the seafood starter which was terrible fried prawn heads ! The chateaubriand was raw and I can’t believe they served it . I certainly will not be going back . A special even completely ruined and very expensive.. if you like raw uncooked expensive steak this is the venue .
No record of our reservation when we arrived, there was no problem seating us due to restaurant being quite empty luckily. Drinks took forever to come and when they did arrive, we had to chase 2 missing ones which were very basic soft drinks. Mains were tasty but took forever to come again, over a hour. Menu was a bit misleading but just make sure you read the small print if you decide to go. Raised our issues when the bill came, waitress said she would speak to the manager to see if he could take anything off for us. A man dropped the bill back off at the table (we assume it was the manager) but didn’t say anything and no apology, with the service charge deducted which was optional anyway. We asked for something to be taken off as a good will gesture, manager accused us of lying about how long our meals took to come out and also about having no reservation. Why we would lie I don’t know??? Money isn’t a problem for us, we would have happily paid what we were supposed to if their service was up to standard. We will not be returning.
