This is really good home cooking when one needs meat, rice, and beans. Normally I get the Ropa Vieja, because it is consistently amazing. This weekend I tried the Carnaval Cubano and glad I did. Great portion of 3 different meat / pork all supper flavorful and tender with a mountain of rice in the middle. El cubano is one of my son’s favorite sandwiches. Get a maracuya de leche as well. Excellent friendly funny staff, great environment.
Consistent quality and service for the 15+ years I've been coming here... all the food is amazing and authentic. But I never leave without getting a Cuban coffee and fried cheese. Life changing!!!
Had a great meal here. I got the Ropa Vieja while I was on a girls night. Their Watermelon Margarita was Divine! Carlos was the waiter and he was very attentive! Must come back!
Im from France and My cuban parents have been asking me to try cuban food for they first time. While scrolling on Google maps searching for cuban restaurant I found this restaurant, and let me tell You that this was the Best option. We really appreciate Estella's service. I had a bistec de cerdo and it was amazing. I highly recomend Martin's mojitos. The atmosphere was great so was the service and the food. The staff was really Nice. I recommend this place 100% I am surely coming back to this awsome place. Oh and just as a recommendation You should order ropa vieja.
I really enjoyed the food there. I had the chuleta empanizada (fried, breaded pork chops) and it was absolutely tasty. The pork chops were cooked perfectly: they were crispy and still had the juiciness. However, the price was slightly on the expensive end. Also, there was no lechón (mi favorito) because I wanted to try that at a Cuban restaurant. Even so, I give it 4.8/5 stars, which rounds up to a 5-Star review and rating.
I’ve been coming to this place for years and years, for special occasions, and the casual dining. It’s an understatement to say I love and appreciate this place. The food is always so damn good I don’t even have time to consider taking a picture, I just simply want to eat and enjoy the meal. that was true then and that’s true now. 11/5 stars.
My family went today and we had an amazing time. The food was delicious, the ambiance was great and the service amazing. Our waiter Carlos was really attentive! Overall we had an amazing experience!
Great Cuban coffee! We had one of each. Great clean environment
Everything I ate there and the dishes I took home were all awesome! The beef and Cubano empanadas, the BEST Cuban sandwich EVER, the marinated pork dish with onions, rice and black beans were all 10/10. I'm raving about the food, but the atmosphere is really nice as well. Ms. Patty and the rest of the staff were all very personable, warn and inviting! I had the best conversation with Patty and she is a true asset to this restaurant. She appreciates the value of customers and her leadership resonates. Oh, do not leave without a Margarita! I normally order a Mojito at any Cuban restaurant, but decided on the "Margarita Tuesday" special and they were kickin'! Can't wait to go back for the "last Saturday of each month" Rabo Encendido (Cuban Oxtail)!! They warned me that they run out quickly, so I'll be there when the doors open at 11am!
The food is incredible! My family has loved their food for years. We frequently eat here. This restaurant is definitely a gem. If you're looking for authentic Cuban food, this is the place to go! Their yuca con mojo is especially delicious!
Always an amazing experience. Best place in town for Cuban food and of course... Flan 🤤
I was in town visiting an old friend, and he highly recommended that we should eat here. We ordered the Mariquitas (fried plantain chips) with garlic sauce for our appetizer. The slices were VERY thin, and with the garlic sauce, I could have eaten it by the truckload. I can't remember what my entrée was called, but I think it was a mixture of beef and pork. Paired with a nice serving of black beans and white rice, I was very pleased with the flavor and the portion size. And as always, when I left, I was Fat & Happy, baby! Fat & Happy!
Being a Mexican food aficionado, I don’t seek out Cuban food. My wife and I were driving around and decided to grab a bite. I know she misses Miami’s Cuban food, and that we were down the street from Cafe Piquet, so I offered it as an option. She jumped on it. I had the picadillo which was perfect. The meat was finely ground, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked—not too mushy or hard. The seasoning would be impossible for me to recreate in my kitchen. Wow! She ordered La Rumba which is a sampler of yumminess. It was too much for her to even dent. The food was perfect. The service was attentive. We will be back.
Yesterday I visited Cafe Piquet here in Houston, a local Cuban restaurant on Bissonnet Street that is out of this world. Probably literally. They have two parking lots on either side, something I’ve never seen at any restaurant I’ve been to. Only an alien from another world could’ve thought of that idea as its out-of-this-world genius! But that’s nothing compared to the food. If I had known how good the food was here before I visited, I’d have made like one of their fried plantains and split sooner! Their plantains are so delicious and are served with many if not all of their dishes. I ordered the beef empanadas which were a culinary combination of juicy, spicy, and rich. My only complaint, however, had to do with the service. My wife, who is Indonesian and wears hijab (Islamic headscarf), is not Latina nor does she speak a word of Spanish other than a few basic words and phrases. Yet the waitstaff assumed we were Spanish speakers, which was in poor taste. But the waiter was very thorough otherwise and got our food and drinks to our table in a very timely manner. I ordered this coconut shrimp dish in a creamy sauce made with bell peppers and onions in it. (I ordered it without onions, of course.) My wife ordered this dish made of shredded beef with onions in garlic sauce. My daughter ordered chicken tenders. (Maybe try something with a bit more variety next time, sweetie pie.) The food was absolutely splendid. It was rich and delicious without even a hint of disappointment for my taste buds. Aside from the minor setback with the waitstaff, it was an excellent experience. It was an eating expedition to the island nation of Cuba without even having to leave the Houston area. I rate Cafe Piquet with 4.8 out of 5 stars! Absolutely delightful experience overall.
A little bit on the pricey side however food and service were very good. From the appetizers to desserts and including the juices from the bar everything was perfect. Black beans and rice tasted amazing. This was not our first time so expectations were very high based on our first experience. Plenty of parking and great ambiance to go with the great food.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Piquet! Absolutely delicious food & good atmosphere. My husband & his Cuban grandmother were regulars at Piquet until she passed, giving the restaurant a special place in the family’s heart—so much so that we hosted our wedding reception here. Our guests from all over the country loved the unique food (I typically go for ropa vieja, but they were more adventurous!), Cuban coffees, cocktails, & beautiful restaurant vibe. This will never stop being one of my favorite restaurants in town. 😊
Really Good Cuban Good. I definitely say give it a try, at least once! You will be pleasantly surprised. Okay let's get into it. The food? ...Best I've had locally!!! MOST DISHES ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC !!! Some dishes with a unique creative TEX-MEX FLARE. Very Cozy Dining Style, Aesthetic Atmosphere. You can dine al fresco, as well. It's as if you've slipped into a tiny Havana getaway, right here in Houston. Our waitress Elizet was helpful and attentive. Also, she engaged us, as potential return customers. Since she was natural this was a good rapport development with new customers. ( my table ) This, too, added to the entire experience. We already suggested this restraunt to friends and family. 👍😉 I would, personally, recommend: Congri (rice with black beans) with Tostones ( plantanos fritos - fried plantains ) as it CAN BE added to many dishes, as a combination under House Specials. We tried a Tamel & Empanada these were nice, very Cuban in taste, as our appetizers. For main dishes, as a table, we ordered: Pernil with Garlic - nice flavor, but may leave you with strong garlic breathe. 🤤🔥Haha. It was very tasty though. We were going straight home after so...I'm glad, I did, try the dish...but something to take into consideration. Okay?! We also had Picadillo. It was tasty without any side effects lol.. I have had Picadillo, three different ways...Cuban Aunty's version homemade, another café's version and this restraunt's version. The closest to the family recipe is THIS ONE. I would try this version again, sometime. THIS IS SAYING A LOT. So, I would recommend it. It's good but different, you know? Cafécito delicioso. ( Delicious Cuban Espreso ) Flan was very good but again slightly different than what I've had before in my own childhood home. I enjoyed it very much. I could see splitting this flan with friends. It is a nice size, but not excessive either. Just right. Sweetness & Creaminess is set to High. The Tres Leches is hands down THE BEST I have EVER HAD ANYWHERE !!! Like Tex-Mex regular Tres Leches Cake... but ...this time, spun with a Cuban Flare!! Very Nice. BOTH DESERTS WERE RICH IN THEIR OWN WAY. I can see visiting again and again. I'd like to try a Cuban Sandwich here, which I always enjoy in most venues...but after tonight, expect to be WOW'D in some way. ( no pressure ) But also, I'd like to try a Sopa ( Soup ) here, as I have never had Cuban Soups before, not even as a homecooked meal. So, why not try something new, right? If I make one suggestion to customers... break up all the carbohydrates with something leafy. But this is just my thoughts, surely dine as you like. 👍😉
Experience 2: Ordered the beef empanadas again and it was served with these spicy yet sweet sauce that complimented it well. Also I ordered Chuleta Empanizada and man I tell you, it was delicious. The pork chop was fried to perfection and mixed with rice and beans, my goodness! Experience 1: Ordered the beef empanadas, they was very delicious. Also had their mojito which can get you their if not much in your stomach.
One of my favorite spots in Houston. Cafe Piquet is nothing if not consistent. Service is always welcoming and prompt. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, and the food is frankly excellent. Prices are fair and portions are huge, so be prepared to take some of your meal home. Pro-Tip: Be sure to try the Sangria.
Well as a proud Puertrican I love and miss my Caribbean food. And I can tell that I LOVE CAFE PIQUE because it brings me back home. The food is amazing the stuff potatoes The Cuban sandwich etc. The staff 100% friendly, worming, attentive, they really helpful when you don't know what to chose. Jessica and everything one is awesome. Really recommend!!!!😋😉✍
This has to be the best Cuban place in town, if not the entire state or country! The ambiance is very honest but it’s almost upscale too, you can come here fully dressed or just casual and feel just fine. The service is excellent and the food comes quickly…but the taste, quality ingredients and respectable portions are out of this world! Combine it with reasonable pricing and I almost can’t believe a place this good still exists these days!
Thanks to the staff and this established restaurant! They were outstanding! That are huge supporters of Prospanica Houston and demonstrated it through hosting one of my first events as social media volunteer for Prospanica Houston! It was my first Cuban Restaurant and it lived up my standards. Food and drinks were fabulous! Must try- the kitchen closes early so get there before 8 on weekdays.
Got the empanada trio, ham croquettes, tostones rellenos, la pechugona, red snapper filet, stuffed smoked ham and cheese filet, oxtail special of the day, arroz con leche, and flan con coco. I wasn't the biggest fan of the ham croquettes, but the beef empanadas were really good. Loved the oxtail and the sauce it was in. The little fries in the pechugona were also really good. Everything had great texture and flavor, would definitely come back
I was there on Saturday I think it was the 6th of September I had gone to visit my brother that just moved up to Texas from Miami. And being from Miami myself I was looking for a spot to eat some good Cuban food so we ended up here. When we got to the building I was impressed. Look very authentic and felt like I was at La carreta in Miami. Once we were seated I couldn't figure out what to order and I saw this very pretty girl and I thought I would ask her for her suggestions turns out she was the manager I think her name was Patty or Patricia. Don't really remember but I do remember her hair and her Spanish accent because it was lovely. She recommended the Cuban meatballs and she also recommended two other things of which I picked the fried pork chops or chuletas as we call them. All in all I have to say that as a cafe owner in Miami myself that serves cuban food. The food here is delicious. The pork chops were perfect. (I should've ordered some onions with them) Lol. But the star of the show where the meatballs not dry whatsoever good size and very well seasoned. I plan on going back to Texas to visit my brother soon and I will definitely be dining here again hopefully the same manager is still there and I can't wait to taste what else she suggests. She also told me the story behind the restaurant how they started with a meat market that turned into what it is today and I love that. All in all I recommend this place if you are in the area. Food was great atmosphere was awesome service was fast accurate and very friendly. Great experience. And on top of all that it's hard to find a good Cuban spot in Texas. I tried......
All I can say is WOW!! From the food to the service!!! The food is fresh and authentic. I’m Mexican but it made me feel like my own mama was feeding me 😂 in Latin American cultures, the simplest yet most satisfying plates are served with passion and love bc the cook is taking care of you. I FELT THAT HERE! Thank you!
If you're looking for an authentic Cuban cuisine with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Cafe Piquet is the place for you! The restaurant is a family-owned gem that has been serving delicious, home-style Cuban dishes for years. Highlights from the menu include their flavorful Ropa Vieja (my favorite), Arroz Con Pollo, and the perfectly fried plantains. Many diners also rave about their delicious Cuban sandwiches and the rich, creamy flan for dessert. The staff is super friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive dining experience. Thank you for a great experience!
I've been coming to Cafe Piquet for many years, dating back to when they are in their previous, smaller space down the street. To my astonishment I discovered I've never written about it here on Google Maps! So here goes... Visited again last night, and as always, they did not disappoint: We had Pechuga de Pollo a la Plancha, Beef Empanadas, Tamales Cubano, Sopa de Pollo, and Fried Plantains; the Missus also had Flan and a couple of Mojitos. All of it was wonderful as usual. I skipped the usual post dinner Cafe Cubano this time in favor of an espresso, but you should definitely get one when you visit. Highly, highly recommended! I always enjoy the convivial atmosphere here, and the shared joy of dining in a family run place like Cafe Piquet. It's always clean, staff is always friendly, and practically everything on the menu is a house favorite. Perfect for a romantic meal or a family dinner, or to dine with business partners.
Food was incredible. Cuban girlfriend approved. Carlos took great care of our party! Might come back to Houston just for this food & atmosphere.
This has been one of my favourite places since they were in a tiny, blue building years ago. The place is gorgeous and inviting (wish I had photos to share). The service is outstanding. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. The food is amazing every time, it is fresh, delicious and the portions are more than enough. I regularly take my team here as they can always accommodate us. We typically lunch and then finish with Cuban coffee - delish! I highly recommend the croquetas - my personal fave is the chicken but the ham is delicious as well. This time I tried La Rumba and it was very good. Typically I have the Palomilla or Ropa Vieja. My friend had the Pargo Entero Frito and it was perfect! If you have not tried them, go as soon as possible, you will love it!
Café Piquet never disappoints, but this visit was truly exceptional thanks to our amazing server, CARLOS. He is absolutely spectacular — attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Carlos took the time to recommend the best dishes, and every suggestion was spot on. The plantain soup he recommended was outstanding — rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. You can tell when a dish is made with care and tradition, and this one was unforgettable. From the warm atmosphere to the authentic flavors and, most importantly, the excellent service, this was a perfect dining experience. Carlos truly elevates the restaurant with his professionalism and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend Café Piquet, and if you’re lucky enough to be served by Carlos, you’re in for a treat!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This Cuban restaurant is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, you’re wrapped in warmth. The atmosphere is cozy, quaint, and incredibly inviting—filled with rich, warm tones and beautiful photos from Cuba that make you feel like you’ve stepped straight into the heart of the island. If Cuba feels anything like this place, it must be breathtaking. The energy inside is unmatched. It’s calm, welcoming, and full of life all at the same time. The staff is incredible—so friendly, so genuine—and those Cuban accents? Wow. Aside from being undeniably charming, they add to the authenticity and make the whole experience feel truly real, like you’re dining in an actual Cuban home or café. The food is spectacular. There are so many great options, and everything we tried was delicious and full of flavor. I haven’t tried the drinks yet, so I can’t speak on that, but based on the food alone, I can only imagine they’re just as impressive. Overall, we had a wonderful time. This place isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. If you’re looking for authentic Cuban vibes, amazing food, and a warm, unforgettable atmosphere, this is the spot. 💛🇨🇺 OK one thing I will say as we were sitting outside and some music would’ve been amazing.js
The best Cuban restaurant in Houston. As Miami natives who love Cuban food we have pretty high standards for what it’s supposed to taste like. But this place always delivers. We’ve been coming here for years and absolutely love it. And the service is the best — they always make us feel like home. Highly recommend the Cuban, the tops vieja, and the pan con bistec. Oh and don’t sleep on the croquetas. Super authentic!
My wife and I used to live near here and would eat here at least once or twice a month, but it's been years since I've been in the area. We really enjoyed the food. I always ordered the ropa vieja, and it was always outstanding. I happened to be back in the area today and decided to give it a try again. The ropa vieja is just as good as I remembered. Truly excellent Cuban cuisine.
Atmosphere: From the outside, it stands out from other establishments in the area due the greenery and architecture of the building. Making your way to the entrance of the building there is a covered patio that has seating for those wanting to eat outdoors. The decor was really neat to see and blends with the architecture outside. Service: Upon entry we were seated quickly. The server was helpful in providing recommendations as well providing insight for our food selection. The fact we were assisted by multiple servers was a plus because they were always on top of everything. Quality: All of the food we had was so flavorful but unique in their own way. To start off, we had the Beef Empanadas. The amount of crispiness was just right and packed so much flavor. They had two sauces that were to compliment the dish, one tasted like a cilantro based sauce and the other a habanero style. For the main entree, I ordered the Media Noche with the seasoned fries. The sandwich was a great portion and amount of mustard did not over whelm the sandwich, yet complimented it. The fries were seasoned and crisped to perfection. The Ropa Vieja was by far the star of the show. So much flavor in beef and it didnt stop there, the sauce was the perfect pairing for the residual rice. Fili's Fave: Although I did not order the Ropa Vieja, after sampling a portion of it, I knew I found my favorite entree on the menu....so far.
This is my first experience here. I loved the food, the service was very welcoming and I can see myself being a regular. Give this place a try! It was so good, I’m sitting in the restaurant right now while I write my review 😂😂 Also, Jesus was AMAZING!!!! His recommendations were spot on. Ask for Jesus when you go!
We stopped by late Saturday afternoon for a coffee and mariquitas. Unfortunately, the coffee machine was broken. I decided to sample the empanadas and my vegetarian spouse ordered the Nelly salad. Everything we ate was delicious! The beef empanada was tastier than the chicken though both had a delicious and non-greasy crust. The sauces which accompany them were outstanding. Watch out for that spicy one! Same for the mariquitas - crispy without being greasy. I ordered a side of chimichurri, and it had a wonderful herbaceous taste. You could tell all the ingredients used in it were fresh. The Nelly salad was the perfect combination of flavors - sweet, savory, and tangy - plus a filling serving. The restaurant was clean, as were the restrooms. Our server forgot one thing, but other than that she was very attentive. We hope to be back in the next few weeks for dinner.
We tried Cuban food at this cafe and really enjoyed it. The foods were very interesting and good, especially the grill fish dish and the flan. Richard was a nice and helpful server. We had a little chit chat with Rogelio, the manager. What a friendly host. He spent time to answer all of our questions from the foods to the decoration on the walls. I recommend this place for small families or small group of friends.
Even though I have lived within a mile of this place for over a decade today was my first time visiting. It did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server Richard was too notch and everything was perfect. It was priced very well with my Family of five eating for about $80 including an appetizer. It will definitely become one of my regular spots.
Great place to take the the whole family. Everyone was friendly and helpful. All the employees were happy and they were all helping each other, great teamwork. Compliments to the management for fostering a great work environment. I had the Media Noche. This was my first time, so I did not know what to expect. It was amazing, so many distinguishable flavors (the meats, cheese, bread and toppings). The sandwich looked a bit small at first, but it filled me up! I'm a big guy and it filled me up really well, so don't underestimate the size. I will be back to try other items.

We order a few things to go out of the menu and everything was delicious except for the vaca frita. Im not sure if they confuse my order but that look and taste like shredded pork.
Authentic CUBAN Food!!!! I drive 3 hours to dine here. The Food is worth the trip. So many Delicious Various menu items. The Staff is Friendly and the Service is fast. You can enjoy your Favorite drink from the Bar. This place has 3 Areas to dine at. On a Beautiful day, try the Front Outdoor Covered Stone Patio. This area is a Relaxing and comfortable environment which makes the dining experience AMAZING. You can have Large gatherings with Family or with your Company. The People and Authentic Food is what continues to bring back its Customers.
The food was exceptional and reminded me of the Cuban food I've had in Miami and could never find here. The service was lacking as the night wore on and the place wasnt jammed pack. Several times the manager had to come help us with a to go box or the check. But all the wait staff were very friendly. The food makes up for the service. We got the chuleta frita with beans and congri and all were delicious. We also got the beef empanadas, the pink orange salsa is spicy but tasty that made you want to continue eating it even if it was torturing you. Also got the bistec de cerdo and it was absolutely cooked to perfection. Cafe con leche is a highly recommended.
Service here was great, and my waitress was very nice, but the food was just okay. Felt like I could cook it myself. Came here after a run and was very hungry and ordered the picadillo with rice, black beans, and plantains. The sweet plantains (recommended by my waitress) were great, while the beans and picadillo were under-seasoned and a tad bland. I don't recommend either. The rice was very good. In short, excellent service and plantains, but my picadillo and black beans were bland.
Great food. Decent service. We hadn't been here in many years because we live so faraway. We found ourselves in the area and decided to come by. It got busy while we were there and we had a hard time getting the check towards the end. Since we had to be at the theater for an event, we were looking to bolt out of there. Not the fastest check out but we were happy with our dishes: the pollo de ajo and empanada trio. The congri and yuca were very satisfying. The restaurant was definitely starting to fill up for dinner when we left here on a Sunday afternoon.
One of my parents favorite spots when they come to town! We are from Puerto Rico, so Cuban food does the trick. We've come here for lunch a couple of times. Everything we've tried is always delicious! Big portions, always have some left overs. They have a full bar as well. We've tried the passion fruit mojitos. Today we stuck to some cortaditos after lunch and they were great. Friendly staff as well. I would recommend if looking for yummy, comfort Latin food.
Had a great dinner here tonight! The building is very clean and well maintained. The atmosphere and music are good with lots of interesting decor. Service was fast and accurate with orders, drink refills, etc. Our server was fast and attentive, but not necessarily friendly nor talkative, but that's fine as she was great in all the other areas. The food was good. I had wanted two steak dishes that they were apparently out of. Instead I ordered basically the same dish but with chicken. It was cooked well and delicious, but the steak option was what my heart was set on, so it was a little disappointing. Overall good experience and would recommend!
Very good Cuban food from this place that has been around for quite a long time. They have a nice happy hour that ends t 6:00pm. I had a sangría. It was OK, just a bit too sweet. The Carnaval Cubano entree sampler was WOW! It had masas de puerco, boliche, ropa vieja, yuca con mojo, rice, black beans and plantains. Everything was delicious. Took some bread pudding to-go. That was awesome too. Will definitely be back.

Atmosphere was not what I expected. I envisioned a more upscale type place but the atmosphere here is very laid back. The menu did offer up some unique "authentic" Cuban dishes. This restaurant does not have a full bar. So, I was limited to only beer and wine to accompany my yucca and garlic sauce order. Thus, I went with the Dominican Presidente beer. Overall it was a pretty good experience..
They brought some very nice bread and butter to our table. The carnaval cubana entree sampler plate was shared and enjoyed by my two table mates, ropa vieja, masitas, boliche. A small salad and a tasty mango mojito made us happy. One friend got something i forgot to take a picture of, all i remember is she really loved it. Great food and service means we need to come back for more. I'm revising my previous review down a couple stars. The Cubana sampler wasn't as good, all the meats were a little chewier. No basket of bread was offered, we didn't need any but still....my wife loved her chicken soup.
Ordered on Uber eats. Definitely will give it another chance in person dining. Overall review from delivery, the pernil was tasty and the yuca. Vaca frita I was a bit surprised with the amount of added garlic into the mix. Proportion of meat to rice was uneven, a lot more rice and not much of the meat. Congri was decent, could use a bit more flavor but still satisfied my Cuban food craving.
Update: went back with a larger group the second time, but food was not at up to our expectations. Disappointed. Hope they were able to bring back their dishes to what they were. I was referred here by a Cuban, who told me this was authentic Cuban food. Whether it's authentic or not I couldn't tell (I'm not Cuban) but it was amazing. The bread they serve were clouds, melted in your mouth. We had the "Rumba" which had a mixture of meats, yucca, and rice and beans. Bistec palomilla was great. As well as the pechuga a la plancha. All in all, it was a great experience, great food and great service.
There was nooooo flavor or moisture in the pernil, flavorless rice and beans… it tasted like no salt sazon or adobo was present. Who forgot to add the seasonings today 😭 I’ve never had flavorless Cuban food. So many people said this place was great. I had better pernil at universal studios
We have been coming to Cafe Piquet since it was a hole in the wall place. Food has always been good. This last time we came the food was very disappointing. The croquetas and empanadas were the best items we had. The masitas del Puerto didn't taste fresh and was dry. The special of that day which was supposed to be grilled pork (fajita style, which isn't cuban) was under-seasoned and very greasy. The vaca frita was overly greasy and also under-seasoned. We driver here from the Woodlands but, I dont think we will be coming back. FYI....service is ALWAYS GREAT!
Café Piquet has that classic, old-school Miami-Cuban vibe -- almost like stepping into a restaurant from the 80s. Some people may enjoy the nostalgia, but it definitely feels dated.\n\nThe food was o…

I have been going to Cafe Piquet since 1997. The last couple of times I’ve visited I have been dissatisfied with the food. Today, the pernil was dry and flavorless, and the beans had no flavor at all. The quality and flavor of the food has been deteriorating as the prices increase, and rice and beans become side dishes. This is not the Cafe Piquet I always ran to when I wanted to eat great Cuban food.
I went for dinner on February 14th! I always order through Uber Eats, and the price of the snapper fillet wasn't listed on the menu. At the checkout, they charged me $29, even though it costs $27 online. They also charged extra for the rice and beans and plantains. It's disappointing because those are included side dishes. Very disappointed.
I came, because it was highly recommended by a local. What I experienced was not what they described as their regular and frequent experience. Apparently, I didn't get the "regular" treatment. A lot of side glances from the staff. (No I'm not stage strange nor extreme) No check-up, no questions re: how things were, would I like anything else, would like something else to drink.... nothing. I.was.Ignored. The place was not busy, so there wasn't an obvious reason for the situation. Had to ask for the check several times though. Strange. Weird experience. If I went back with the friend who recommended the place, and got better service, it would make my experience all the worst. Can only imagine the reasons.
I went with great anticipation but was dissapointed...we were seated (party of 5) in an area where we could not enjoy the atmosphere...de penitencia en una esquina. The croquetas, empanadas and pan cubanos were good.....the yuca was tasteless as was the mojo....the service was poor as it took the meal a long time to be served. The flans had good consistency but we finally agreed that it was probably not made using leche condensada and finally when we got the bill they had added like 4 more desserts than what we had ordered. Love the look, ambiance and history of your restaurant. We were planning to celebrate our father's birthday there with a party if 25 or so guest but changed our mind.....I am sorry to say.......
First time visiting and unfortunately it was closed. Yelp shows their hours until 10 PM, but they actually close at 9 PM. It would be helpful if the online hours were updated so customers don't make …

We haven't been to cafe Piquet in about 3 years. Today, as we were in the area. We decided to eat here. What a disappointment! The quality of the food is terrible. I ordered the pan con bistec, the…
The food was shockingly bad. If I ever crave something this stale again, I’ll save my money and reheat leftovers from my own fridge — they’d be ten times better. And can someone explain the extra charge for white rice? It’s not even included with the main dishes. Honestly, is that because it’s the only thing they cook fresh?
So unfortunate, They cater our wedding 3 years ago. But we had to chase them to give us a quote and they never answer the phone to place the orders. Their voice mail is always full so is hard to leave a message . Today we were trying to order again for our son birthday. We started calling since Saturday. Today I call and someone told me they will call me back. Your food is good but is other places (cuban food ) they do need the business.
