Opinions de Double Trouble Houston
Love the atmosphere, pizza was so good, thin crust at its best, all cheese reminds me of New York pizza. Service was great. Definitely be back for me. Parking can be a little challenging but there is someone always coming in and out.
Wow, for a pizza place that opens so late, this might be one of the best tasting pizzas I’ve ever had! The looks may be deceiving, but the pizza was so thin yet I had enough texture for that slight chew and crunch. The cheese was on point. The smell of the pizza itself was already amazing, it was so delicious! Good service and very convenient. I highly recommend it would come back.
Fantastic pizza spot with its roots in Austin. This location absolutely delivers on both taste and quality. The service is solid, friendly, and genuinely fun to chat with. Seating inside is limited and parking can be a bit tight, but it’s an easy short walk to the door. Inside feels cozy, and there’s a heated patio that’s perfect during cooler weather. It’s well worth the drive from the suburbs for a truly great slice. This isn’t kid-style pizza—this is legit, NYC-style pizza done right.
I had a slice from a co worker and loved it. Ordered online, went to pick it up, lady called my name, I grabbed the pizza and headed home. Once home I opened the box... Wrong pizza. It had pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives. Not too big a deal, just inconvenient. I called, they were extremely apologetic, and offered to refund me, or make it again immediately, or even said I could pick it up another day. I opted for immediate remake. THEN... Management said they would refund me for the inconvenience. I did not expect that since the final cost of the large 2x pepperoni was 35 bucks. I get there, swap pizzas, again, with a gracious amount of apology from EVERYONE there. THEN... They also give me a small red envelope with my name on it, which had a voucher for a free large pizza! You could not pay me to talk bad about this place. Outstanding customer service, delicious pizza, fantastic atmosphere! This place cares! Shout out to the staff. I hate I didn't get any names, I was so flustered with the generosity that I tried to get up outta there quick! Plus, look at the pizza! I couldn't wait to dig in. 10 outta 10, would recommend!
I usually go to Franks Pizza in DT but someone mentioned this place was the closest to NY style pizza. We ended up paying $30 for a med pie after we added additional toppings and fyi they dont offer Candian bacon. I must say overall it was really good, the crust was toasty and very thin, the flavor was more than I expected 😋 I would definitely recommend to anyone seeking that original NY pizza taste!
Quick, Kind, and Delicious! Homeslice Pizza is my go-to spot when I need a fast bite that doesn’t skimp on flavor. The staff are always super friendly, and that special price deal? Totally worth the stop. Whether you’re grabbing a slice on the run or just need a break from the Midtown hustle, this place delivers—literally and figuratively. Great vibes, great value, great pizza. --- Want to add a photo or boost visibility with a clever reviewer headline? I like the crusts and the quality of ingredients they use. My favorite was probably the cookie surprisingly, it's the perfect amount of salty and sweet. The pies are better than the squares imo, make sure to ask about hot honey too, I feel like that might have saved the square
Fun atmosphere and vibe! Great pizza, local soda (not Pepsi or coke!) good salads and excellent meatball sub.
Great slice of pie! Been on the lookout for good new york style pizza. Alot of places claim it but this place actually delivers it. And they got pizza by the slice! Yay! The atmosphere is very hipster, very Austin style and I get it. I like hipster style but I don't like how they mix in a pizza joint, but that's just my preference. No big deal.... moving on. The pizza by the slice is kinda pricey at 5 bucks each, but OK we on the middle of Houston so it's cool. The medium 16 in pizza we got was 24 bucks, i thought that was a good deal for such a good piece. We asked to cook it extra crispy and they did that pizza right!. The crust was so crispity and crunchity. The undercarriage was golden brown and delicious. Had some flop to it but we got the ricotta, sausage and peppers and I think it weighted it down some. Like it's said, we got the sausage, ricotta cheese and peppers, the number 6, it was very good. Maybe a little too heavy on the ricotta but that was the only flaws see with the pizza. Greasy cheese, the sauce to die for and I was living for the crust. Highly recommend this place, just keep it a secret it has Austin roots lol
If you ever find yourself in Houston craving some pizza definitely check out Home Slice Pizza! I have tried a few different pizzas from here and they are all so good. It's also just such a cute pizza place and has a really good atmosphere. The workers are also very nice. I recommend the white sauce pizza or a thick crust peperoni.
The service was amazing! I had the sweetest woman help accommodate for my food allergy (severe peanut allergy). She ensured the pizza was safe and the only nuts were pistachios and walnuts. The Margherita pizza was so delicious and I highly recommend!
Best pizza in Texas easily. Get the True and tried #6 and add pepperoni. Thank me later. Best pizza you’ll probably ever taste. Only NYC style pizza in Brooklyn I’ve tasted is better. Do not hesitate to come here.
Came here a bit over a week ago from the time of this review. I once made the mistake of going to the spicy girl next door cause I wanted something new. When I say the pizza was amazing I mean it was a damn good pie. I’ve been here a few times and this last visit was truly the best experience. A gentle man named Bo took our order and was professional & friendly right off the bat. Was very understanding of me when I took a bit longer to order as I was overwhelmed by the options. I was with some friends during my visit and they were both also in awe with the experience & quality. Pizza came out hot and lightly crispy with a chew, the marinara has a nice tang to it & the cheese is absolutely amazing. We went to go get a dessert after we finished eating cause we were still feeling a bit peckish & these 2 wonderful employees Ms. Kharma & Ms. Erica were so vibrant and expressive in the best way possible. We ended up getting the tiramisu cause my friend ended up saying it was my birthday (which it wasn’t) but it made no difference as Ms. Kharma & Erica seemed to really want me to enjoy this tiramisu no matter what. Light & fluffy with a not overly strong coffee flavor. The lady fingers were delicate and the cream had a nice fluffy-ness. Definitely coming back in hopes of thanking them.
Fantastic experience visiting Home Slice Midtown! I asked what they were known for, and we were presented with the perfect sandwich - the Italian assorted sub - and two pristine slices of pizza - white pie with spinach and pepperoni. As Chicago natives, we hold great pizza in the highest esteem and this is the whole package, featuring chewy crust and flavorful toppings. The sub sandwich was the best I’ve ever had, anywhere, ever. I loved learning about the business from the wonderful team (love love love them!!!), and the ambience was delightful. Ten out of ten for a truly memorable experience and phenomenal meal.
I first tried Home Slice about 20 years ago in Austin for the first time off of S. Congress Ave and it was packed and the pizza was good. When I moved back to Houston decades later I found out they built a location here and had to try it. Been coming here for years now and it's always good still. The pizza is fresh, the crust is light and crunchy with excellent sauce to cheese ratio. This is true for an entire pie to go or with the single slices you can get at the pickup window at the side where they only accept card. It's a little on the pricey side, but it's worth it as an occasional treat. Weekends it's very busy and nearly impossible to find a spot. You can't park on the same street where the slice window is because it's always full as those spots are for the other surrounding businesses but they are also paid parking that you can use the app/kiosk with if by some miracle you find a spot. The actual pizza place has 6 spots right in the front for customers and 5 behind those by the building but I've seen the employees park there so good luck. To get some slices, it's best as a 2 man operation with one ordering and one driving around in circles. It took about 5 minutes to get 3 slices on a busy Saturday. The wife and kids love this and say it's their favorite, I give it a 7. It's better than the other corporate pizza chains you can find like pizza hut, dominos, etc, but Lou Malnati's is my favorite in Chicago. Actually all time favorite was Pistol Pete's Pizza back in the 80's off Spencer and Shaver here in Pasadena, probably because I used to drink beer and play games there as a kid with my dad.
Scared of flying but Maggie made the whole experience amazing. Reese was an awesome pilot and even did an extra loop because he was feeling nice. Aneska the manager was so funny and she told a joke about turtles. 10/10 recommended this place
They have like five different types of espresso martini, they are strong be ready. The bartender was very helpful the vibe is perfect. I especially like that the music was at a perfect volume. So we could carry conversations without yelling.
Double Trouble Bar is the perfect spot for a cool, inviting night out. The low lighting sets a sexy atmosphere that's both relaxing and vibrant. The bartenders are incredibly helpful and guided me in choosing the Irish Coffee Martini, which turned out to be absolutely delicious. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy great drinks in a stylish setting.
Double Trouble Café is a sweet spot in Midtown Houston. The energy is Mello and very chill. The people keep to themselves, yet open to vibe if you're wanting a social aspect. The drinks we had were hot coffee based, cold brew & spiked and very well made with an explosion of flavor. Definitely, going back. One item to note, parking on the street it's paid from 6am-5pm with after 6 & weekends free. There's paid garage parking too.
OVERALL: The staff was so friendly and helpful. They explained my drink option and made the overall experience amazing. The place had a mostly open concept, so it can be very hot in the summer months. Seating and space are limited, so i would advise planning ahead to secure seating. This place has been here for years and is definitely a local fav. Parking: i would advise taking a rideshare or the train. Parking in this area is limited Attire: Can as you are. This is a relaxed environment, but shoes and shirts are a nesscesscity.
I love this place! It's quaint, a little eclectic, and super chill atmosphere. The patio seating area has adjustable bamboo shutters that you can adjust, which is really cool. James Bond vibes going on in this place. If you happen to visit as a result of my post, and find it to be an accurate description, please give me a thumbs up. By the way, the drinks in my photo are Iced Latte with a side of simple syrup for sweetener, and an Old Fashioned Love Song. Cheers 🥂!
Awesome atmosphere, great bartenders, and some of the greatest combinations of flavors in a cocktail. This is a must stop spot for anyone looking to start their Saturday nights in Midtown with a bang! Coffee, cocktails, coffee cocktails, mocktails, coffee mocktails, and Ramen. Everything you need.
The best hot chocolate! So good I forgot to take a picture (😂). Sarah is AMAZING and made this cute bear in my cappuccino. Nice chill vibe and has free wifi. You can sit outside at the patio, or inside at the bar, or high tables. Tables inside are small so not the best for big groups, but the patio can accommodate larger parties. Nice selection of liquor to make a nice variety of drinks. They also have beer, cider and non alcoholic beverages.
Vibe- This is a very cool coffee shop that sells coffee and cocktails as well! When you first walk in there’s a room with chairs/tables and a big TV. The bar area is located next to this room and there’s 4 high tables, 1 table, and the bar area that seats about 12. There’s green plants all around the bar and there’s a tiki them! Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I ordered a hot latte with vanilla and oatmilk, it was good! Parking- I parked on the street, that’s where most people probably park unless they walk over.
What a lovely spot! The friends and I decided to end our night here for a few cocktails and conversation. The scene is comfortable and inviting. The music is spot on. The drinks are delicious. I had the Irish Coffee Martini and the K.I.S.S. Cocktail. Both are a true vibe. I highly suggest visiting. I've got plans to return in the day time to enjoy the patio and Houston views
Absolutely loved this place! We went for one drink and stayed for…well, it was definitely more than one. Robin, our bartender (and the proprietor) was a blast to chat with. We went during the day so it wasn’t packed, but we chatted with other patrons and there were plenty of regulars coming in (the best sign of a good bar). They make their own syrups and use quality mixers, so the cocktails are quite nice! There is a covered outdoor seating, a few inside tables, window seating, and bar seating. It had a great vibe and we would definitely go again.
Pizza came out quick, we got one specialty pizza for $26.52. It had eight slices and tasted okay. It wasn’t too flavorful so I used a lot of red pepper flakes. Service was fast and the place is cute.
I had been waiting to try this spot for a while now, and finally found myself in the area, so, I figured I would give it a try. The interior is fun and inviting. There is a nice patio, and there's seating inside. The person working the register was very friendly, and the service was great. You can watch from the lobby ad they make the pizzas and take them in and out if the pizza oven. You can also see what pizzas they have ready to sell by the slice. Each slice is large (cut from an 20" pizza). I was impressed with the menu, so, we tried a couple pizzas, calzones, and garlic knots. There are many pizzas you can choose from or you can byo. The pepperoni pizza and Margherita pizzas had great crust, but had a lingering parmesan taste. So, if you love parmesan (or oregano) you will love this sauce! Some tips: Since the food isn't incredibly flavorful you can utilize the Parmesan, peppers, and oregano that's on the table. They also have hot sauce, and you can purchase ranch. The ranch is made in house and is actually flavorful. I would consider getting a calzone over a pizza. I would also consider this spot if you've had a late weekend night in midtown as you can order by the slice and take your food to go. And if you don't want to journey downtown, you can find them available through various food delivery apps. Cheers!
The pizza was super yummy and not greasy at all! Pretty cool environment, nice patio. They have pre made pizzas as well that are quick for to go. They only had pork options for meat though. The large pizza was giant! Parking was a little tight but it's downtown. Overall would recommend
We came here as part of our own old fashion rate / review night .. our first stop …. Greeted at door , has a sub tropic contemporary decor/vibes Old fashions were affordable, spicy/bitter fwd. didn’t have depth but for pricing it does the job . Would recommend less ice or giant cube instead. I would give old fashion rating 3/5
If you love caffeine and booze then this is the place for you! Didn’t try any of their cocktails, but they have decently priced beers— well prices are kinda up there. The atmosphere is awesome, could spend a significant amount of time here with a friend or two. It’s dim, intimate, chill. Very pretty bar with an outside area to relax and enjoy as well. Prepare to walk and or pay for street parking as that’s the only thing that’s available.
It had been several years since I visited this place when I was living in Midtown and was happy to see that not only is it still open but has been renovated as well. I always enjoyed it in the past, but it did have a bit of a divey, "distressed" feel to it previously, which could be charming but sometimes felt a bit dingy. With the new construction, it now has a cleaner, lighter feel to it, while still maintaining the tropical, somewhat Bohemian vibe it had before. Unlike many coffee shops that offer limited selections of beer and wine, Double Trouble (DT) is both a coffee shop and a full service bar, offering all kinds of liquor and cocktails. They have all your standard coffee options, with beans sourced from local roaster Greenway Coffee, There is also an extensive cocktail list, both of old classics as well as ones unique to DT, complemented by a selection of beer and wine. Additionally, at the intersection of the coffee shop and bar is a menu of espresso martinis and other coffee-infused cocktails that give you the best of both worlds. I started off with drip coffee while reading and later moved on to an Irish coffee martini (Irish whiskey, Irish cream, fresh double espresso, and nutmeg) once I was joined by a friend. Neither drink disappointed. The coffee was bold with an excellent flavor, and the Irish coffee martini was smooth and creamy. The two critiques I have of DT are the parking and speed of service. The place is located right next to the light rail, and as such, there is only street parking available on side streets, which can often be hard to find in Midtown. As far as service, there were two bartenders working when I visited, but neither seemed to have much of a sense of urgency or at least skill in quickly preparing cocktails. I waited about 7 minutes after ordering for the bartender to finish the cocktail before me and then complete mine, and I watched others experience similar delays. Such criticisms, however, are not enough to prevent me from returning or to cause me to not recommend the place to others, especially considering its uniqueness as a bar/coffee shop concept.
I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and garlic knots for pickup. The pizza alone was $28. I wouldn’t go as far to say that the pizza was bad. But for $28, it should be noticeable better than Dominoes and Pizza Hut. It was also very salty. The $7 garlic knots were solid and they gave me a lot of marinara sauce. I genuinely don’t understand why the reviews are so good for this place.
I spent over 2 hours reading reviews between this place, Lunas and one other place. Im taking many Houstonians don't know much about NY style pizza and high quality ingredients. I am not impressed, on door dash I saw many complaints of "too salty", "cold" and that's in the store and also old nasty moldy bread and rotten food. My turkey sub was burnt bread and nasty old turkey breast, the cheese was like plastic and it went into the garbage and I didn't even get my full refund from door dash. Listen to the bad reviews, this place is way overhyped! not worth what they are asking, subway tastes much better than this!!! Go out of business or do it right, I understand inflation but this is unacceptable I feel like I've been food poisoned!!!! t
