Opinions de Lola's Depot Houston
If someone mentions Lolas Depot, they know houston. They also know how low life can get. One of the filthiest, most vile places ive stepped foot in. Strong drinks, unmatched prices, unsettling vibe. Truly some of the worst memories. Iconic; Five stars.
Cheap Drinks! Great patrons #HoustonInstitution almost an example of how MONTROSE used to be.
My favorite dive bar. Yes there are a lot of people and you do have to wait to grab a drink, but the prices are unbeatable!
Lola’s Depot is a Houston staple, if you know anyone over the age of 21, they’ve been here. This is Houston’s diviest dive and grimiest corner, it is one of a kind and the cheapest drinks this side of the century. This isn’t the type of place for everyone, this isn’t the type of place for most people even but it’s an institution that’s been here for decades. Check Lola’s out for a good time, or a bad time, or maybe just when you have a inch for something, anything really.
I have lived here for how long and just now went to Lola's. Ultimate dive bar. It was interesting. Hard drinks. Good music. Lots of people enjoying themselves. Inside and outside seating.
The funniest place I have discovered in Houston so far. Authentic American bar with delicious drinks, welcoming personnel and nice atmosphere with lots of things to do incl. a cool inner garden. Most recommended to visit if you want to feel Houston authenticity.
The best dive bar in the city. This has been a favoured haunt for years. It hasn’t changed. Purple building in corner of Grant and Fairview. Music by the eclectic jukebox. This is many things but boring if not one of them. The patio is always full of conversations and the junk.of past parties, ceilings adorned with bras. Walls painted by local artists there are 2 pool tables and a bar inside, the patrons are a mixed lot. Different ages different backgrounds. Patrons dressed like Ramones, suits, cocktail dresses. The drinks are cheap and strong. A great place to start the evening or just hang out
Best dive bar and cheapest drinks in all of Houston. You will literally meet and actively talk to members of every creed, culture, religion, economic class, and any other diversity in this 420 friendly location. There are normally good food trucks parked out on their patio so you can stay fed as well.
It’s got a lot of character and is filled with lots of characters. I usually have fun and always meet new people.
I've been going to Lola's semi-frequently for some time now and have found that the bartenders are often rude or seemed annoyed to be engaging with customers off the bat. The atmosphere is great, the prices are decent, and I enjoy meeting lots of friends here, but my last experience with a blonde middle-aged lady bartender left me reluctant to ever step foot back in here. A man offered us to order two drinks, but he secretly dipped out before the payment was due. I did not want to use my card for personal reasons, but I politely gave it to the lady for collateral while I went to my car to get cash and pay. She was nothing but impatient and rude, making unnecessary comments like, "I hope y'all don't plan on going to any other bars afterwards," and "I hate people," in response to giving cash to pay for the drinks and her not enjoying the look of the cash I laid out and organized for her. There are no signs that disclose that they do not want to take coins for payment, but she decided to let us know AFTER finishing my drink and getting ready to lay telling that we'd be coming all the way back from my car with the money while I left my card as collateral. I followed all of her requests politely as possible, but she wasted no time going over to some other patrons and loudly complaining about my payment method. I wonder if she has the mentally capacity to count very well, so maybe that would explain her aversion to accepting legal Us tender. Another patron friend offered to pay with his card for our drinks to make it easier, but the bartender acted like she needed to protect him like a baby said that we shouldn't "force" men to pay for our drinks. I think that lady bartender has a thing against younger women because the way she rudely interacted with multiple attractive women in the bar this night vs having a flirty attitude with the male customers and taking lots of shots with them was glaringly obvious. I would like to go back to the bar, but I just don't want to be judged for how I pay for my drinks. I've worked at a couple of bars before myself, so I was shocked that this type of behavior is seemingly the norm at this establishment. The service is as dirty as the dirty old bras collecting dust hanging from the ceiling. Why one would work here if interacting with customers makes you so viscerally agitated?
Bartenders will skip over you to take care of their regulars who come in after you leaving you waiting for 15+ minutes while being ignored. We ended up leaving after being repeatedly skipped over and witnessing the older male bartender be downright rude to someone asking about a specific drink. We don’t live in the Houston area, but this used to be one of our favorite spots to come to when we would be there. Service and attitude has gone downhill the last few times we’ve gone.
Too crowded takes too long to get a drink. Atmosphere is chill but better on weekdays
As much as I’d love to support a dive bar, this place has gotten used to bad attitudes. They justify being assholes with “being busy”, but being kind to customers goes a long way. You can be a customer and be understanding of a busy place, but when met with a “idgaf” mindset, it gives you less grace. Find a different vibe somewhere else because this place will not make you feel comfortable and welcome.
lola’s is a hole you crawl into and i love it. as grimy, wonderful and human as this place is the bartenders are uptight, rude and miserable. the drinks are cheap but you get so much attitude from the grown men behind the bar. you get ignored for so long you have to get to the other side of the bar. if you're the guy with the man bun earlier who thought the tip wasn’t enough after ignoring us when it wasn’t busy, get a different job or don’t take it out on us randoms or better yet quit it’ll do everyone a favor besides the awful bartenders and the bouncer constantly hitting on you, you can find this underbelly vibe everywhere else.
I got thrown out of the bar by a whole man. Over 11 dollars, lmfao, Mr. Morgan, seen the whole thing and said he was in the right, I never walked out on my tab. I got picked out of a whole crowd and got abused. Over 11 dollars! Lmfao 11 dollars is what i was thrown unto concrete over.
I love this dive bar, but the bartenders have such a sour attitude, especially Kenneth (tall older gentleman). After being ignored several times while he served regulars at the bar who kept coming after us, Kenneth had the audacity to tell my friend and I that we need to tip him more because our tip was unacceptable. He then proceeded to give my friend the check back and told him he needed to re-write a higher tip amount. Kenneth began to argue with me when I addressed how unfair and rude his treatment to us was.
