We did a Cider House Tour here and learned a ton about theory coder along process. Their food was amazing, thr cod was one of the best ove ever had. It was buttery, super flaky and thick, not like thr ones in the US. Their steak is a must have! Cider was great and we loved the many different flavors you can taste! Bottles were very reasonably priced and gree corks to pour ur own Cider at home!
We went today at lunchtime. We had some delicious pintxos; you absolutely must try the cod one and the black pudding one they have. Afterwards, we ordered a very good cod omelet and a steak that was spectacular. Special mention to the service: Ander and Aisea were professional and very friendly, making you feel right at home. Keep it up, team!
An old foundry turned into a cider house.
Lovely location and nice cider. Very relaxing.
Fresh churros and chocolate. Cider is great. Eggs with orange yolks to accompany the chorizo. During or after ride stop for sure. Visually impressive.
We went on a weekday and there were very few people. The place is cool and worth the trip to see the nearby iron ore smelting furnaces. I think the cider house building was an old water-powered forge. And most importantly... the cider is very good, and they also serve good quality pintxos (small snacks).
Great place. The wine cellar is very pretty and the cider is spectacular. The food was all very good, although the steak was perhaps a bit small for four, as were the other portions. We went for dinner, so we left happy, but for a meal... it would have been a bit limited. The bread was the worst part of the evening, as I thought it was of very poor quality considering the location and the menu. Nevertheless, a highly recommended place.
We absolutely loved everything, let me explain. A very beautiful and picturesque place. The cider is delicious, but the best part is pouring it yourself and drinking as much as you like. The food is fantastic; the set menu includes cod omelet, cod with green peppers, and ribeye steak. For dessert, we had cheese with quince paste and walnuts. Everything was spectacular. Plus, during Carnival, everyone was in costume and there was a great atmosphere. The price is reasonable. A must-visit in Irún.
Was alright, staff and environment was cool
As a cider house, it's not the best, but it's not the worst either. The place is incredible, and the food was delicious. They also prepared some delicious vegan menus for us. At the end of dinner, they gave us a tour of the cider house and explained its history, how it was restored with great effort and hard work, and now feeds a family and is their way of life.
Ok
Stopped here with the family after walking around the nearby mines. Plenty of parking alongside the river. The coffee was excellent and the home made chips went down very well with the hungry kids. …
We had the Cider House Set Menu for four people at €37 per person. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. It wasn't very crowded, and we were very comfortable. The set menu included: Cod omelet, which had very little actual cod in it. Cod with green peppers. It was quite good, although the portions were a bit small. Steak: The flavor was very good, but unfortunately, almost half of it was overcooked. Luckily, one of our guests likes her meat well-done, but for the rest of us (including me), it was too cooked. Cheese and quince paste: Delicious. Another noteworthy detail is that they serve bottles of organic apple juice. This caught our attention, and the first bottle was delicious. The second bottle was bad, but when we told the waiter, he immediately brought us another, and the juice was also delicious. We were served by a very friendly young man, and the timing between courses was perfect. The food wasn't bad, but the truth is there are much better cider houses for the same price.
Mal. Reserva para 18 personas ayer domingo a las 14:30. Nos sentamos a esa hora. No vino nadie a atendernos hasta las 15:05. Comedor lleno y solo 3 camareros. 455€ mal gastados.
After hearing so much about the Txotx experience, for our last night in Basque country, we decided to splurge and have one big last hurrah. While we had a good laugh about it, I would strongly suggest going elsewhere. We got there at 8:30 pm. My partner and I were alone at a table of twenty. There was one other table of 5 celebrating a 39 year olds birthday. I got the 42€ "experience" which came with a bottle of organic cidra. For a starter, I had a peice of baguette with a sausage on it. Was it okay? Sure, but let's be realistic. It was baguette with a bit of sausage. Not even a pintxo would serve that. Next came the bottle of cidra, just covered in mould. So after you grab your bottle to pour a drink, you get to grab your baguette with mould covered hands! We had some laughs about it and moved on. Next up was an omelette with some cod in it. Again, nothing to write home about. All I can really say is that it was too salty, but not "bad". After that course was a peice of cod just covered in seriously over cooked green pepper. It looked as sad as it sounds. For the main, a decent piece of steak. The cook was okay for a rare (even though no one asked how I would like the steak cooked). Seasoned with rock salt and nothing else, which was okay because it made it easier to remove the excess salt. For desert they hook you up with 2 wee bits of quince jelly and 2 bits on manchego cheese that were cut by a blind chef. Oh, I forgot to mention, we did order a 2nd bottle of cidra, which was slightly less mouldy than the first. Overall the "experience" was just weird, bad food, weird atmosphere, mouldy bottles, all while Dragon Ball Z played in Japanese on the television and yes, the volume was on. all for a premium price.
I have to change a 4-star review from 2 years ago to a 2-star review (failing) updated in March 2024. Although the cider is still just as good, and the overall experience is fun, the quality has declined. The table service was so bad that it was commented on by every diner in our party (and of course, zero tips). It's also worth noting that the children's menus are simply a combination plate. Furthermore, the cod seemed to have been reheated, and the quality of the meat on the cider house menu has decreased (but not the price, which keeps going up). It's a shame because this cider house was one of our favorites and one that I personally recommended the most, and the building and the cider are truly unique.
Terrible service. The waitress who served us was unprofessional and listless. The cider bar menu (€42) was meager. We ordered two cider bar menus, and I could have eaten everything I wanted. Excessive. And the menus were nothing special. It's a shame because the place is beautiful. A lovely cage, but a bad bird. Not recommended.
Very poor service. The waitress who served us during lunch seemed to have little desire to work. Very unpleasant. The quality of the food was average. The cider bar menu was very expensive (€42) for the amount of food they served, and it didn't even include bread. We were very sad because the place is very pretty and the atmosphere is peaceful, and it's the only cider bar we have in Irún. But we won't be back, nor do we recommend it.
We ate there today, and we were very disappointed with the quantity/price ratio. I ordered a cider house menu, and when you order one of those, you expect to at least leave feeling satisfied...WELL, THAT WAS NOT THE CASE... The first thing they brought, supposedly to whet our appetites, was a small piece of chorizo cooked in cider...So far, so good. From then on, things weren't so great. They served me a cod omelet, which, for a €39 menu, I think is a rip-off. There was barely any cod; it was literally a French omelet. The cod with piperade was smaller than a pack of cigarettes. The steak looked more like a pork chop...in short, ridiculously small portions! My companion ordered a different menu, and it was fine, although the quantity was the same—very little food for what you're actually paying. But oh well...some places are like that...and everyone has their rights, but we won't be back! Another thing that amazed us was the number of flies in the dining room... I've attached pictures...
Really had high hopes for this bar,it wasn't a happy Sunday,i don't like to write bad things about restaurants but i ordered a "Bacalao con Tomate"its a typical dish from the region it was frozen Cod not fresh but frozen, poor service the staff seemed to be lost and inexperienced. The bar itself is beautiful and clean.
