I loved the experience in this restaurant. The service was really great. Everyone is polite and caring. The food is really great too. I specifically liked the pajeon (first picture), reminded me of something warm and comforting from my childhood
This Korean BBQ is seriously one of the best I’ve ever tried. The meat quality is amazing—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly marinated. Every bite tastes fresh and smoky in the best way, especially when wrapped with lettuce, garlic, and spicy sauce. The side dishes are also on point, and you can tell everything is made with care. The staff is super friendly and helps cook the meat just right, so you don’t have to worry about anything. The vibe is cozy, lively, and perfect for hanging out with friends. 10/10 would come again!
Baekjeong never disappoints, and our most recent visit was no exception. From the moment we sat down, our server Panny made the entire experience. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and kept everything running smoothly without us ever having to flag her down. Truly top-tier service. The meat quality was great. The ribeye in particular was cooked perfectly, beautifully marbled, tender, and full of flavor. You could tell the quality of the cut right away. The sides and banchan were fresh and well-stocked throughout the meal, and the overall pace of the meal felt just right. Fast and efficient without feeling rushed. Great job Panny!
I can honestly say this was the best service I’ve ever experienced. Frank was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, super knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel completely taken care of the entire time. Everything came out perfectly timed, and he checked in at just the right moments. You don’t come across service like this often — Frank made the entire meal unforgettable. Every time we fly into town, we’ll be asking for Frank. We’ll definitely be coming back because of him.
Food is great as always. Panny was our waitress and like all our other visits, provided warm service and took care of us wellm
Our server, Dominick, hands down provided the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. We had a table of 12 with 5 kiddos under 7 and not only was he attentive to every request but even proactive with the little things like bringing extra napkins, refilling our side dishes, and cooking to everyone's specifications. The bar was set extremely high this time. Hope it can stay this way!
This place is awesome! Great place to go with a group of friends. We had a full table of 6. The food was great. The meat cuts were nice and not super fatty. Service was awesome, but you do have to get there early and put your name on a wait list. They don’t do resos so when we got there at 6 we didn’t seat till 7. But there’s seating outside or places to walk to while you wait. Staff was great and attentive. They even cook the meat for you. It was the first time seeing something like that at a Korean bbq. Everything was tasty. From the cheese corn to the soju. We did a set that came with extra like noodles, etc. it was a lot of food for 6! We even had left overs. Overall, had a great experience and will be back next time I’m in Cali.
Forget what you've experienced at Gen or Gyu-Kaku. If you want a true Korean BBQ experience visit Baekjeong Irvine. The quality of the meats are higher, the condiments better, the service stronger. And when can you have Korean barbeque that you don't have to cook yourself (although that's often part of the fun)? The wait can be very long here, especially on the weekends, but well worth it. My only minimal complaint is the only offerings for beverages that are non-alcoholic are Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, hot tea and tap water.
Great dine-in experience. Not an all you can eat bbq; but really enjoyed everything I had.
Frank was great. Dude 5 stars all the way. Food and service were great. Also, the happy hour is half off drinks. This is our new brunch spot
Restaurant is a very different for other Korean restaurants I’ve been to but it’s using a unique way of cooking and your cooking with scrambled egg and cheese on the edge of the pot. The food itself is absolutely tasty and not just the barbecue meat but other food like noodles and bulgogi. The waiting time is usually 90 minutes to 2 hours.so if you want to try this restaurant then you better go during the afternoon or bit late in the night
I loved eating here! The food was amazing!!! Our waitress helped a lot with cooking our food. Will definitely come again and again. One thing, its not an all you can eat. They have packages or solo dishes and place gets packed! I came on a weekday and a little earlier than 4pm and there was no wait. After 5pm you will definitely wait a long time.
Baekjeong exceeded all expectations with their exceptional Korean BBQ experience. The quality of the meat was top-notch, perfectly marbled and seasoned to perfection. The interactive grill at each table added to the fun and authenticity of the dining experience. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring our dining experience was flawless. Overall, Baekjeong is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Korean BBQ in Irvine.
The quality of the meat here is amazing! The staff is all so nice and they cook the meat for you, letting you sit back and just enjoy the delicious meal!
We went to Beakjeong BBQ on a suggestion from some friends in Pasadena. We had a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. I love the slogan…We meat again. Well meat we did. We chose several items from the menu and we had a full table to feed. We started with the large pork combo, and it had a selection of pork cuts which were cooked at our table by the wait staff. We made our way through some of the other offerings in the beef section choosing skirt steak, and the beef rib options. We tried several stews and went with the beef intestine and seafood with tofu choices. They were served hot and boiling to the table. We also enjoyed the many sides that accompanied our meal and were bottomless and refilled when we finished any of the sides. The rice was cooked perfectly also They had many Korean Soju options and we also had some cocktails from the bar. The spicy Yeoboo and the Kinung smash were our favorites. I was too busy stuffing my face to remember to get a bunch of photos, but when that happens it’s great Staff was busy but very attentive. The over all experience is one you won’t forget and the price was reasonable for California. I heard there is one in New York, so when we swing through, I’ll hit it up too.
Very good quality food and service. Meat is fresh. We got a set meal for two and it was enough for my husband and I. It's expensive but worth the price, in my opinion.
Baekjeong is always a solid choice when you’re craving kbbq, and you can’t go wrong with the set menus. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they had new items on the menu including jjapagetti, a popular Korean noodle that was so creamy and savory - a nice touch to end the meal!
Whenever I dine here, my waiter is always excellent. But every time with only 2 ppl, it is kinda awkward, the small combo can't get enough and the big combo can't be finished. Also I wish they have some combo where I get to choose from few options to customize my experience. Feel like I'm eating the same thing every time I dine here lol. Also for folks only eating beef, don't just order beef, pork tastes better.
Marinated short rib: melt in your mouth texture. Glad they cook over open flame and seasoning is classic. They overcook it a bit so be ready to take off flame Seafood pancake: perfect crispiness and not too oily. Must have. Kimchi stew: comes with seafood, rice cake and tofu. Traditional flavor but low on broth. Squid stir fry: springy texture, Great ratio of veg and right amount of spiciness.
You should absolutely go to this Irvine korean BBQ location!! Outstanding quality meats. Get the ribeye in your beef combo, you will not regret it. Very tender and well cooked. All of the sides are delicious. The egg is so tasty, I couldn't get enough of it. I ordered a rice to eat with the meat, and it was free or charge! The food is actually cooked for you by a very friendly server/cook, so you don't have to worry about anything!! Just eat and have a good time!! The drop down vents are a super good idea and avoid the smelly clothes post bbq.
First time in Baekjeong Irvine I am going to be completely honest. It was really amazing having our server Ryan and one other server helping us out. It was an amazing experience and way better than the one in West valley mall in Santana Row. I remember the Chef from Santana Row talking how he is from Korea, but the meat quality and just the service was horrible. Irvine is where it is at. Definitely coming back here again. Super grateful for a server asking how we wanted the meat cooked and for the services. Please give those two servers a raise Ryan and the person with Maroon tee.
Expensive but excellent food and service. Perfect place to give yourself a treat or for gatherings. Service was fast and the staff was skilled with the cooking.
Wow! Having been to just a couple of Korean BBQ places, I'm no expert but I know what tastes good and I know great service and this place had both! We went for my mom's birthday a mmm there were 4 of us. We ordered a beef combo of shorty rib (supposed to serve 3) and an order of ramen for my pescatarian daughter. It was tons of food! Three types of beef all delicious and cooked on the BBQ at our table. They serve lots of sides that are interesting and delicious. I will definitely return. During lunch today, we had to wait for your table outside and we were a bit discouraged by this but it wad absolutely worth it!
Korean delight... also a name for this place. At least that's my opinion. Great service and staff! The food was amazing! We shared the combo meat and it was awesome! We got the small and seriously we three were stuffed! First time there and the staff was woeful in explaining and directing and suggesting. Truly a wonderful experiment all around. All of it was amazing and we'll certainly be back! Highly recommend!
The food was amazing, the appetizer, bbq, side menu were all great. Also the staff Frank was very friendly, made us have a great dinner.
Good quality meat and good service from Aren who's very attentive and helpful. He got us everything we needed. Best kbbq in town, I highly recommend this place.
Baekjeong is the best. Go here. There is no other for non-ayce Korean BBQ. Delicious. And we had a very discerning party of five from the east coast and all over CA. Over and above plentiful amount of food for all of us. The elders even took about six boxes of left overs for a party of five. We ordered the large all-beef BBQ combo. The Radish cold noodle soup (delicious). Dwaejang jiggae. Dolsot Byeebyim Bap. Dolsot Bim Bim Bap. Just as we sat down, Kevin gave us complimentary delicious hand-rolled Duk for Chuseok! It was a hit and home run from the beginning! Thank you! He also gave us complimentary deliciously-done Jap chae! Jap chae can easily be done poorly, but this was finally one we all enjoyed! Thank you! We all ate beyond our fill! And for all five of us, it was about $170! You cannot beat that for the service and food! This was above and beyond par excellence in service, especially in context. We visited three other Korean restaurants before arriving at Baekjeong Irvine. I made a phone call just before we arrived explaining that we have all traveled from afar and we are tired and very hungry. Will they please prepare a place for us? From that point on, the rest is history. They had the table already set up for us (just a few moments after my call), and with a waiting smile! What a beautiful sight! To meet and see all of them and to see the whole table display after having gone through three other Korean restaurants that failed in major significant ways. Here are some concrete examples of their extraordinary above and beyond customer service. From the moment we stepped in, Kevin greeted us with a smile and directed us to our table. He then brought us an extra seat to place all our belongings. That was significant. There is a difference when we have to ask for an extra seat as opposed to Kevin bringing in a chair right from the get-go because he knows we come hungry and tired. I had my amazing, looking-fabulous over 90-year old Aunt and others who are close to 90 y.o. with me. That service with a smile and bringing that extra chair, though it may seem like a small act, made all the difference in the world. Thank you, Kevin. Each of my family members thinks very favorably of this place for the level of service, quality of food and the shocking, amazingly good value for what they do for all their customers! And pleasing each member of my family is not an easy task to accomplish. Every moment was perfect at Baekjeong Irvine. Thank you. I save the best for last. Vincent serviced us, honestly, like we were already part of his family. He gave us non-stop attention like we had our own personal chef. He knew my beloved family came from afar, and out of his good will, he gave us the chef-skills attention that excelled par excellence. From double marinating the tender sirloin beef in sweet garlic sauce over the fire to pouring double measures of the most delectable soft egg dish to my 90-year old “Great Aunt,” who favored that dish the most, giving us the utmost best multi-tasking skills that exists out there in terms of his honesty/integrity, chef skills, etc. Beyond the major aspects of what VINCENT does in cooking in front of us and conversing with us, if I needed to fill up my cup with non-caffeinated and very healthy and tasty barley tea (hot and cold), or if I or others at my table needed an extra napkin, or if we needed dishes to be removed, he was there a few moments beforehand to take care of it all — all the while cooking the meat well done for us — and he provided this level of service for each one of us at the table! Yes, we were an acute party of five. His people skills and chef skills cannot be beat. If you want the most delicious, the most reasonable, the most remarkable, and the most enjoyable non-all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ that does food and service RIGHT, Baekjeong is the place to go! See about Vincent and Kevin. Thank you to everyone at Baekjeong Irvine for making the Korean Thanksgiving Day the most special one yet! Happy Chuseok!
Baekjeong is a full service KBBQ restaurant. Your waiter will actually cook the meat you choose for you, I think one time we came they let it get a little overdone but I wouldn’t take a star off for that. The meat is delicious, and the sides are great too. It is pretty pricey so we only come here as a special treat but it’s actually a nice change of pace to have the meat cooked for you. There are plenty of other places you can go if you’d like to cook your own meat for a bit cheaper. Overall, great restaurant, make sure to arrive early or plan for a weekday since it gets pretty packed and the wait time can be very long.
The meats and side dishes prepared at our table was absolutely delicious! This restaurant is always super busy with a line coming out the door and you can see why. This was my first time there with family visiting from out of state and everyone was blown away how good it was. This is a great place for a special occasion or for something complex different. We loved it!
Food was excellant, our server Julie was so patient and helpful as it was our first time. Perfect suggestions, even insisted on taking our picture at the end. Only negative was that the music was so loud it was hard to converse at the table.
We had no idea what we were doing but staff guided us. Food was great quality and not too expensive! Would definitely recommend for a date night will be coming again.
One of the best Korean BBQ experiences I've ever had. The initial wait was a bit long but was well worth it. Dory was our server and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was cooked for us to perfection and the bon chon were great! Highly recommend if you like Korean BBQ.
Great service not an ayce place but the quality makes up for it I recommend the beef combo with short ribs and the kimchi stew. One thing you will find different is that the staff will cook the meats you order for you and the progression goes from good to great in terms of meat. Starts with the beef brisket and ends with the short ribs so it just keeps getting better and better.
Every visit to LA/Irvine can’t be complete unless my family visits this Korean BBQ place. We always get Beef Combo and then order more meat. Servers are always attentive to our needs and the food is excellent. Complimentary steamed eggs and corn with cheese are added plus. Soy bean soup that comes with the beef combo is a must. You can choose from soy bean soup or kimchi stew. Irvine location also has a bar where you can hangout while you wait for your table.
This Korean barbecue spot is a great place to enjoy an authentic dining experience. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, from various cuts of beef, pork, and offal to delicious rice dishes, stews, and noodles. I especially appreciate the fun combo meals they offer, where you can enjoy different meats paired with kimchi or soybean soup. They also have appetizers like dumplings and seafood pancakes, which are perfect starters before diving into the main barbecue. The atmosphere is enhanced by the awesome K-pop music that plays in the background, often featuring the latest hits, which really adds to the lively and modern vibe. One of the best things about dining here is that they grill the food for you at the table, which adds to the experience. The grills they use are particularly cool because they have special compartments—one for a tasty omelet and another for cheese with corn, which melts as you enjoy your meal. That being said, I do wish there were more combo options and greater variety in general, as the choices can feel a bit limited if you’re a frequent diner. I also wasn’t a fan of the meat grilled over an open gas flame—it left an odd aftertaste that I didn’t quite enjoy. Another thing I found underwhelming was the beef tartare. While I usually love the pure, unaltered flavor of tartare, here it was mixed with raw egg and possibly some sauce, which gave it a slightly sour, oily taste that wasn’t to my liking. I prefer tartare with a more clean, straightforward flavor. As for the dumplings, the fried version I tried wasn’t quite what I expected. I think I would’ve enjoyed them more if they were boiled instead. I’ll be sure to request that next time. Finally, the combo meals come with an option of soybean or kimchi soup, which are traditional, but I’d appreciate a miso soup option for those who aren’t as into strong, fermented flavors. A simple bowl of rice could also be offered as an alternative to pair with the meat. All in all, it’s a great spot for Korean barbecue with a fun atmosphere, but a few adjustments could make the experience even better. In any case, this is the best Korean barbecue in the Irvine area!
This place is the bomb! The food is delicious, we ordered 2 briskets, short rib and the flank stake. The brisket is the best one, super thin cut, it melts in your mouth. The short rib is very good but you need to cut so it is not so chewy. The flank is tasty too. We had the light beer and it was cold. Bottles are 500 ml. All the staff is super nice, Frank was our chef and he made sure to cook our meats to our taste, we like it mooing LOL Beautiful place and welcoming. Not a lot of place for waiting for your table. This was our second time and we will be back.
This place doesn’t ever fail to disappoint. The beef combo is the way to go. I went with my parents and sister and we couldn’t even finish it all! Banchan is great, very fresh. Warm and friendly staff. Music is a touch too loud but I still enjoyed the atmosphere. This is my second time here, I come every time I’m in Irvine!
Frank and Dom were great! Service was fast and attentive and the food was awesome. It was our first time here and we’d 100% come back. Definitely make reservations on Resy! The wait can be long.
I want to give Angie a big thumbs up! She always works efficiently, and the meat she grills is cooked to perfection. The first time I came here, she served us, and today I met her again, which made me very happy. She even greeted us warmly. Angie is truly an organized and meticulous person, and her service always makes us feel warm and delighted!
Best Korean bbq in the area. Always great service and quality of food. Shoutout to their manager Momo for leading such a great team. We’ll be coming regularly! Shoutout to Chani and MJ as well for great service.
The Irvine Baek Jeong Korean BBQ Restaurant was and still is the best place to eat the highest quality Korean BBQ grilled at the table! The place opened as the flagship restaurant of eight franchises! It is still the number one spot in my humble opinion. I enjoy the excellent food and services. Felix was our lead server and two other male servers helped to make our special birthday most spectacular! The speed at which they served our banchan and cheese corn along with scrambled egg cooked at the grill, endless pink vinaigrette turnip sheets and shredded daikons and thin sheets of rice cake as well as bottomless kimchi, fishcake, soybean stew, ripened kimchi stew with three layer bacon, two different salads, etc. etc. The triple combo meat consisted of Beef Tritip, thinly sliced Frozen brisket and cubes of marinated ribeye marbling at the level above the Wagyu beef were literally melting on the grill as we ate. I am recommending this place as the Number One spot for Korean BBQ place in the entire Orange County.
Baekjeong in Irvine is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is always fresh, the meat quality is excellent, and the staff are very friendly and attentive. My wife, daughter, and I come here often and always have a great experience. The service is consistent, and everything is cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys good Korean BBQ and great hospitality.
my absolute favorite kbbq in the area! Frank was so lovely and helpful, and all the staff are efficient, sweet, and friendly every visit we have. easy 5 star!
Came before the rush at about 4:30PM and got seated immediately and ordered the Beef S combo! Beef Brisket, Beef Shortrib (or Rib Eye), and Marinated Beef Short Rib w/ so much banchan (side dishes). It also comes with a Kimchi or Soybean paste soup. We ordered the steamed egg into the side of the grill and it was delicious. Service was really good, your host serves and cooks the meats for you. They were really attentive and nice. I came for an early birthday dinner and they were pretty engaging about it. The meat and banchan were high quality and tasted good and fresh! The kimchi soup was kind of concentrated and spicy, I think I would order the Soybean paste soup next time. We ordered Japchae at the end and the serving size is worth how much it costs. It’s a huge plate. Great experience, would come again!
From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely incredible. Our server Mark was attentive, welcoming, and truly went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and take pride in what they do. The food was just as impressive — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every dish exceeded expectations and left us wanting more. An overall amazing experience with outstanding service and exceptional food. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Korean BBQ dining experience! Thank you Mark!
We came here on a Thursday evening at prime time and the wait was around 30 mins which isn’t bad for kbbq! There were lots of side dishes and our server frank was very attentive and helpful. Lots of options on the menu including mocktails which i love and dessert. Would definitely come back.
I mean do I have to say more? This place is one of the BEST Korean barbecue places I have ever had. I am not just saying this, I have been to so many kbbq places from Los Angeles all the way to NYC! The service here is amazing and I feel welcomed everytime I come here. The vibes are great here and this place cheers me up with their good prices, quality meats, and amazing service. Would recommend!
Came here for dinner with friends, and we all agreed it’s one of the best Korean BBQ we’ve had! Our servers, Aren, Mark and Chani, were incredibly friendly and patient in helping us with our order. We got the beef combo—the meats were really fresh and grilled for us, so we didn’t have to do anything. The combo came with a kimchi stew, and we also ordered a soft tofu soup and a seafood pancake. All the dishes were delicious, and the portions were just right for the four of us. We’ll definitely be coming back!
This place is one of the top and best Korean restaurants in the country and we've been to many, from east to west coast, and all over Korea. Amazing food, great service, very good environment. Japchae was delicious, love thinner noodles they use. Marinated galbee (short ribs) to die for, top quality meat: Beef tongue was excellent. Great portion sizes for price and quality is top notch. Best korean food restaurant hands down from quality of food to service and ambience.
Had an amazing experience here! The food was incredible — super fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and lively, perfect for a night out. Our server was so attentive and friendly, making the whole meal even better. Definitely one of the best Korean BBQ spots I’ve been to. Highly recommend!
I love Korean BBQ and this one is my favorite place. Even it’s not all you can eat but the Large Beef Combo was enough for the 4 of us and we didn’t have to cook the meat ourselves. Their eggs and corn cheese can be refilled. And other condiments like kimchi and stuffs can also be refilled. Overall it’s a good bbq place
Baekjeong Irvine consistently delivers an exceptional Korean BBQ experience, making it a must-visit for meat lovers. The quality of their prime cuts is outstanding, perfectly complemented by a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. From the attentive service to the flavorful banchan, every detail contributes to a memorable and satisfying meal. My only complaint is the music is soo loud, hard ro have conversation.
Another Korean BBQ you don’t want to miss. The wait can be long, but so worth it. The music can be loud, but so fun. The food can be too much, but you can’t stop eating! With its mouthwatering flavors and generous portions, each bite leaves you wanting more. Impeccable service, friendly and family-oriented, this BBQ won’t disappoint. The welcoming atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for gatherings, where everyone feels at home while enjoying delicious, smoky goodness. Whether you're a meat lover or just looking for a great meal, this place truly delivers an unforgettable dining experience.
We just missed the happy hour here! Lol it’s from 2-5 on weekdays. Anyways we went to get seated and the side dishes were already there so you could start snacking immediately! I believe we ordered a combo platter and it had prime short rib, sliced brisket, and marinated beef belly 🥩🍖I think lol. It also came with a soup and we got soybean soup 🥣 , which was the perfect amount of spice and it was delicious!!! The waiter came around and cooked everything for you. Which was interesting because you usually cook it yourself but this was cool too. He did a good job and came around in a timely manner. The stove also had a spot for cheesy corn 🧀🌽 and eggs 🥚 so those were filled twice. The meat tasted amazing and was very filling! No complaints! The whole menu is online with QR code so not great for the older folks. And the paper menu is tiny font. So just be aware of that!!!

Outstanding food and service, every dish was fresh and expertly presented. Large portion for fair pricing. Highly recommended.

Fresh meats and lots of side dishes, clean restaurant, able waitstaff. Food cooked for you on a grill at your table and then served. All questions answered patiently. Fun.
Very nice spot to grab a quick family meal in the area. Food was flavorful and the service was prompt when refilling drinks and side dishes. As we all know with KBBQ, side dishes can make or break a meal. That being said, keep in mind they rotate them monthly, so occasionally they may not have the ones you prefer. The servers are very friendly but are a little frantic since they are required to cook for you. Some guests enjoy this, but I guess I am old stool, since I would prefer to cook for myself. Once again, overall a nice place for a good meal.
Overall, for a lunch with 2 others, it was a very tasty but tad on the pricier side of things, meal. Getting things like the wrappers and some of the sides refilled sometimes was unreliable, numerous times during the meal. Meat quality from what I could tell was good, and complemented well with the sides as available. Overall I found it to be very enjoyable.
A cousin fixed up a family dinner here. Close to two hours waiting as they had a no reservation policy! :-) Patrons were seated in a queue all around the side of the restaurant! Excellent choice of meats and sides and very prompt and efficient service. We had two tables of 4 and two servers on either side doing the prep/barbecue which was interesting as each set tasted a bit different! Good selection of alcohol at the bar which was closer to the entrance. The restaurant was buzzing and there were folks waiting even after we left post 9pm!
Best kbbq in Irvine, but must go super early to avoid a long wait. We usually go before 5pm and have no issues. Food is great, love the corn and cheese on the side. Banchan is great. I notice they always try to rush us through the meal, because they're so busy. They are cooking new batches of meat before we're half done eating the previous batch. Overall still always a good meal.
My husband and I finally kicked this place off our bucket list. We've been wanting to try this place for quite some time now, but the wait is always insane so we've always ended up going somewhere else. Last night we got there early and we able to get seated in 45 minutes. This was a much different experience than what I'm used to, mostly because the staff cooks for you. I didn't know that and took the plate when it arrived and started to do my thing and a waitress came by and was like, "please let me do it for you." Sure, why not? The steamed egg and cheese corn were incredibly delicious. We got the combo which included thinly sliced beef skirt, beef short rib, pork belly, and marinated pork steaks. The combo also came with a side if either kimchi stew or soybean soup. We got the soybean soup. Everything was amazing. My only complaint is that they left the meat cooking longer than I would have liked (I like my meat on the rarer side) and we thought they could have changed the grill plate out at least once, since the meat towards the end was getting charred bits stuck to it. Other than that, it was a great experience and we are excited to go back (hopefully with friends in tow, because it was a LOT of food and we want to try more things).
First things first, Baekjeong is not all you can eat, but that aside, the experience is typical of most KBBQ style restaurants. Once you order, the staff serves and cooks the meat for you, but they do this for other tables too – and they get busy. So if you don't want your meat over cooked, you'll need to keep an eye on it. The meat was tasty, but didn't stand out from those served at other well established KBBQ restaurants. The banchan were also good, but some of the more common items, like the salad, were too small and had to be re-ordered a number of times. I did appreciate the way the ventilation systems could be positioned right over the grill. It kept the smoke level and smell on our clothes to a minimum. We got there early, but did see a long wait line outside about an hour in. Prices sit on the higher side, especially if ordering a few drinks and sides. The place was clean and the staff were attentive and friendly.
Meat was pretty decent here but the banchan(side dishes) left a lot to be desired unfortunately. Pricing isnt too bad either for OC. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed and not very friendly. The service this time was ok not as good as we have experienced in the past with the cooking. The short rib was extremely chewy and not as good as some other places we have gone, maybe it was an off night. 🤷♀️ The galbi was good(the fave of my kids) and the brisket was as well. Overall we would probably come back and try some other meats. My kids liked it here. BTW I am korean and know what GOOD K bbq is just for clarity haha
Delicious food, nice environment, long wait times, busy servers, and GREAT suction which is a must for kbbq. The best thing about this place is the fact that the servers cook the meet for you and you don't have to worry about under or over cooking! There were four of us and we ordered the large portion of the marinated meat which was the perfect amount for us.
Baekjeong Irvine offers an intriguing and immersive Korean BBQ experience that truly stands out. From the moment we entered, we were captivated by the interactive dining concept, where the server expertly grilled the meat right at our table, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. One of the highlights of our visit was undoubtedly the outstanding quality of the food. Each cut of meat was impeccably fresh and flavorful, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised by the selection of IPA beer available, which complemented the meal perfectly. The cleanliness of the restaurant was commendable, and the overall pricing was fair considering the high quality of the food and service. The atmosphere was lively and friendly, contributing to a welcoming dining environment. However, our experience was not without its drawbacks. Visiting on a Saturday noon, we were disappointed to find that there was no bartender available until 5 pm, limiting our drink options. Furthermore, the wait time to be seated was longer than expected, which detracted from the overall experience. In conclusion, Baekjeong Irvine offers an authentic Korean BBQ experience with exceptional food quality. While there were some minor issues with service availability and wait times, the overall dining experience was enjoyable and memorable. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience in Irvine.
We used to love eating in this restaurant often but we recently went for a visit and we were very disappointed. We already expected to wait a bit for a table but we ended up waiting for almost 2…
The waiting was confusing when they said that it would be an hour and a half, but it would be more like 40 minutes, so be on the lookout for being texted sooner. The meat is ok. Honestly, I am not much into meat, though I do like the choice of pickled items. And they're very generous about refilling. Could use some more vegetables on the grill. For 2 people, a small beef combo should be plenty to eat.
We recently experienced dining at Baekjeong for the first time at their Rowland Heights location. It was such a wonderful experience and a highlight of our trip we were excited to try this location- unfortunately it was a disappointment. Food 🥘: We ordered the beef combo. It came with various sides as well as cheesy corn and eggs on the grill. Quality and taste was just okay. You also get to choose from a soybean soup and a kimchi soup with the combo. We ordered the kimchi this time and it was also just okay. Vibe 🌀: The music was really loud that we couldn’t hear our server. There were families, couples and friends dining. Service 🧑🍳: our server was very friendly. He was soft spoken & we just couldn’t hear him over the music. It was so busy we didn’t get to see him too much.
For what I considered the best of Irvine for Korean bbq, but disappointed. The quality has gone down, eats are thinner cut esp rib eye and not as good. Not to mention we waited over 40min when there were tables available , but apparently not enough servers. On Friday night for 4th of July weekend? Weird. And not even a line. We ordered a la carte : beef brisket, rib eye and short ribs. Also salads were over-drenched.
Been to many kbbs and unfortunately this one didn't live up to my expectations. The wait was 2 hours and never sent us a text when ready. We got the hodongs favorite combo, the meats were alright the brisket was the best. The banchan was okay. The service was alright, never asked for our order the cook just assumed ours was taken and we never got asked what we wanted to drink, my bf got a beer but they walked away too fast for me to order my drink. The atmosphere was lackluster and bland, most of the led signs were unlit or half way unlit. The music was very loud.
Went 11/11/20 and sat outside even though we knew they don't do corn cheese and eggs bc stupidity. :D This review is just for the food though. Maybe it didn't taste as good bc it was cold outside. Honestly just wait for the inside seats. It's more worth it. Brisket & beef tongue: It's good but nothing super special to be honest. I'd suggest the kalbi here for sure. Banchan: Everything is good but the sweet potatoes w honey were really sweet and interesting. Also the radish soup kind of tasted like sweet melon which was also refreshing. I liked mixing the meat w the spring onion mix. Calamansi soju: Soooo refreshing. It's like fresh soju mixed w pure calamansi juice. I'd describe as it as citrus w a twist. Not sugary at al! ~~~~~~~~ I forgot what I got, but if you look at my pictures you can tell what I ordered. LA Galbi - very very very good! I love this cut of meat and the marinade. Brisket - delicious, but nothing worth noting Shake Box - they shake a tin with kimchi rice, egg, etc and it tastes pretty good, but nothing fantastic. When I went the server didn't fill up the side of veggies until we asked. If I hadn't noticed that other guests had veggies, I probably wouldn't have known and asked. That is a bummer...
This was our first experience eating Korean BBQ. Me and my family were very excited to try it out for my brother's milestone birthday. When we entered, the hosts were friendly as well as the other staff that welcomed us in as we entered. When we asked the first person (presumably the manager as he was in a red shirt) about the menu, he explained it patiently and in detail. He was the highlight of the afternoon, as he recommended the choice most first-comers choose. However, the service took a nosedive from there. Our server, (who's name I cannot remember because he didn't introduce himself, but he was wearing a black mask and I believe his name might have been Kevin) did not explain anything on the table even after we asked about it. It seemed like he was in a rush, even more so when more tables arrived. We were one of the only tables when we entered the restaurant, so there was no need for any rushing when asking questions about the food items. We were not aware that the server was supposed to do all of the cooking, as when my mother tried to cook some herself, he told her he would do it instead. Near the end of the meal, some meat was also burned as well and we didn't eat it. I wouldn't say we were turned off of KBBQ due to this experience, but I am taking my family elsewhere for a better experience.
DISHONEST TIP EXTORTIONIST. 8 person (3 male/5 female) group a $560 bill. I thought the service was OK not great so i paid the 1 server servicing our table $56.00 for less than 2 hours of serv…
I had dinner in this restaurant with my girlfriend and 2 other friends. From the start they rushed us to order, messed up with one of the items on the menu. And brought the bill way before our dinner ended. Note: they were not even busy. There were so many tables available there was absolutely no reason to rush. Towards the end one of the employees dropped the dishes on the ground and all the food particles splashed on our table, all over my girlfriends jacket and mine, one of the particles went into my eye. I understand accidents happen but they didn’t even apologize or tried to check on us to ensure we are ok. I explained the situation to a staff member even though they were completely aware. She said it was an accident, no apology or any action was taken to make us feel comforted. I asked to speak to the manager. He did show sympathy and apologized for what happened but we would never go back.
Ordered small combo, provided small combo, charged for large which is 50 more expensive. We asked for refund and found the guy who help grilling. HE SAID HE FORGOT ITS SMALL OR LARGE. No refund the end, imagine $180 for two people
It was our first time there, but no one seemed to care—not even a simple welcome. It was difficult to find a server, and when she finally came, she didn’t explain how things worked. We had no idea the staff cooked the meat for you, and when we touched it, she got upset. We wanted to order more cocktails, but couldn’t find anyone. When it came time to pay, again, no one was around. To top it off, as tables around us emptied, the staff flipped chairs upside down right next to us, and they were dirty with hair. In the end, we had to get up and pay the bill at the bar ourselves—not even a “goodnight.” Overall, definitely not a good experience.
The service was horrible. If you have kids, do NOT come here. You will regret it. An Asian woman with dyed blonde hair — maybe a manager, maybe a server — seated us right in the middle of the hall with our baby. The server even put our stroller next to the grill, where they cook the meat. We asked for a corner table because it was clearly unsafe and would block the servers and other customers. She refused. Then, out of nowhere, she started yelling at us while saying she’d change it. It was humiliating and shocking. In the end, I was forced to breastfeed in the middle of the hall, completely exposed, with everyone staring. This was our second visit — and our last. I will never recommend this place to any Korean family. If you have kids, do NOT come here. You will regret it.
I had high expectations because I went to Baekjeong in NYC within 1 year of opening and the meat and food there was pretty good. Here, I didn’t like the meat for the price. The way the waiter cook doesn’t reach the general Korean standard of how they want their meet cooked. I’ve been to other Asian restaurants and have experienced non-Asian cooks/waiters making better or equally good Asian food. This is not it. Secondly, the system here is not work out. The number of tables assigned to a waiter is just too many for him to handle. There is no way he can manage to attend all the tables in time and cook all the meat to acceptable level for all the tables he’s assigned with. Change the tip system to a mandatory 20%+ for waiters. Don’t assign too many tables for each waiter. Teach waiters how to cook. Fire the ones who refuse to improve. Don’t care too much about meat quality, for this price bracket. But Has to cook the right. Or let us cook. So we can cook at own pace. Make the tip mandatory (25+%) Give us better meat.
Way overpriced! We ordered two dishes to-go and the total was over $100. We were expecting a couple good sized plates to bring back to the family but we were given these two small dishes. (You can see the pen is included for scale.) We also had to wait about 30 minutes for this. Not worth the time or money.
