Opinions de Bao Chick Irvine
After perusing the options within the food court, Bao Chick caught my attention. Rather than the fried chicken, it was the lamb soup decal (in Mandarin) by the stall that led me to make my lunch order. The Chinese couple running the stall were quite enthusiastic in getting people to sample their fried chicken. I ended up ordering the lamb soup ($16) and a large fried chicken fillet ($9). After paying at the counter and taking a pager, I got my order after another 5 minutes. The husband running the stall (I assume) explained, with the same enthusiasm as before, which chili oil was for the soup and which was for the chicken. The lamb soup proved savory and flavorful without being too heavy. It was a touch oily, but easily cut with the bowl of rice. The soup contained plentiful protein, from lamb meat to stomach and other offal. The fried chicken filet lived up to its name. The meat remained juicy and tender throughout, The breading was flaky and buttery. It had a softer texture to it. I quite enjoyed it, though I definitely was already full from the soup. Overall, I would not have expected a food court stall to have such delicious food, especially one serving both fried chicken and lamb soup.
Bao Chick is located in the Trade Marketplace food court and offers up delicious fried chicken sandwiches and dumplings. The food court itself is lively and has a variety of other cuisines to try. Bao Chick specializes in fried chicken dishes with a Chinese twist. The portions are huge! The chicken sandwiches are the size of my head. If it’s your first time, the original chicken sandwich is definitely the way to go. The fried batter is impressively voluminous and crunchy - it’s also a different fried batter than regular fried chicken. I don’t exactly know how, but it’s very large and it charge. And the chicken is so juicy and moist. If you’re not too hungry, the wings are also a good choice - but just be warned that they are also huge hahaha. They’re cooked perfectly though, with the same fried batter and juicy meat as the sandwiches. The fries are also very yummy and served with a Cajun spice. The owner is very passionate in his work, enthusiastically sharing free samples of his dumplings and delicious dumpling sauce. He clearly loves his food and it reflects in his cooking. Definitely check them out!
Best lunch in Irvine. They have a menu that serves dumplings along with other delicious options. The chicken sandwich is insanely delicious. The most crispy chicken sandwich I've had and I opted for it Spicy. So good. Give them a shot
This was by far the biggest chicken sandwich I have ever eaten. The breading was very unique and the flavor was great! I also liked the seasoning that came on the side.
I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I could not fathom what I was going to experience once I got my chicken sandwich. It was so massive and so filling that I wasn’t able to finish it all and once sitting! The dumplings were also very delicious! The staff was extremely friendly, and the establishment was very clean. This is a must have stop if you have a big appetite!
I would like to preface this by saying that I initially came here for the dumplings. But then someonewho I assume to be the owner gave me a free sample of their fried chicken. And the rest is history. I got a chicken sandwich. And it was no joke, the largest and juiciest chicken sandwich I've ever had. Can't believe it was that good. If you're craving chicken, this is the place to go. Prices is a bit up there, but not unreasonable for what you get. Mac and Cheese was a bit too wet and bland for me. Otherwise, amazing chicken.
1. The wrap was huge, and the chicken was nicely fried! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes since it is located inside a food hall! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! Note: There is restrooms nearby in the food hall! Photo: Old Time Beijing Wrap (TikTok: @justandyvu)
WOW. Didn't really know what to expect and why was I surprised. As soon as I walked up I was greeted by the owner with a chicken dumpling. They were so good that I ended up buying some. The breading on the chicken strips is something else. It's so crispy and the chicken so juicy and flavorful. The chicken is served with a side of spice powder and chili oil. I have a bunch of different dipping sauces we did barbecue, the house sauce and ranch. All were great. Definitely coming back to try the wings and chicken sandwich.
This spot is located on the premises of the Trade Food Hall as well as seven or so other food spots and a bar. There are quite a few chairs but it does get busy and packed, especially during weekends. Parking can be hard to find due to all the business in the area but thankfully the times I've been here I've found at least one available parking spot. I had a chicken breast sandwich with a side of fries. The chicken breast in my sandwich was huge and did not expect it to be that big. I'm used to getting tiny chicken breast pieces so this was a great surprise. The breading was nice and crunchy, and the ingredients in the sandwich worked perfectly along with the mayo sauce they provided on the side. You get to choose between a breast or a thigh. The chicken sandwich was larger than an average chicken sandwich. It was not greasy, the chicken itself was nicely cooked and flavorful. It was one of the best-tasting chicken breast sandwiches I've had this far. 5/5 The fries were so good, they were made and seasoned to perfection. The outside of the fries was crispy and the inside was soft. 5/5 Customer service was decent, the young lady who took the order answered the questions I asked and appeared to be nice about it and didn't appear bothered. The man who brought out the food was nice and provided napkins.
The owner is very cool. Only speaks Chinese but he put me on to the lamb soup. Hooked me up with plenty of lamb. Great morning broth to wait for people to arrive at the airport.
The staff here are super passionate about their fried chicken—both the popcorn chicken and chicken strips have that amazing crispy crunchy breading. And paired with their house sauce? DIVINE. Besides the chicken, what I loved even more are the grilled baos and soup dumplings that would give Din Tai Fung a run for their money. Literally oozing with soup and honestly one of the best I've ever had! Thanks for reading! ^-^

The food is AMAZING. The owner is very kind and friendly. The potstickers have a generous amount of meat in it, and pairs well with the two dipping sauces. The chicken sandwich is next level crispy and juicy! Comes with a chili powder that pairs very well as well. We always stop by when we're in the area.
Their fried chicken is crazy good!! And they provide gloves so your hands don’t get messy
#1 chicken in SoCal! The chicken thigh sandwich is big, maybe enough for two people
I ordered bao chick for take out for my movie night. I had the white garlic Parmesan wing and honey mustard wings. The wings tasted so good, very crispy and crunchy. Recommend.
Best burger I've had in a long time! The patty was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and the bun was soft but held everything together. Fresh ingredients all around — absolutely worth every bite!
Bao Chick is a great spot for flavorful and satisfying bites. The bao buns are soft and fluffy, perfectly paired with well-seasoned, juicy fillings. A fun and tasty place to grab a quick, comforting meal!
I tried Bao Chick and it was really good. The buns were soft and fresh, and the filling had a lot of flavor. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and everything tasted hot and freshly made. The portions were decent for the price, and the service was quick. It’s a nice place if you want something simple and tasty. I would come back again to try other flavors.
I just tried them today as they were in the same foot court as my daughters vegan place. They told me they served the best chicken sandwich in Orange County, and my goodness are not lying or grandstanding!! This was the best chicken sandwich i have ever eaten. I bought it as a breakfast item and it was so good that it lasted all day and still was crunchy at the last bite!! I am definitely coming back and letting everyone know that this place sells the best chicken sandwiches bar none!!!!!! The family running the store was so nice an helped me order my sandwich with perfection in mind!!
I was genuinely impressed by how good the food was! I had no idea what to expect until my chicken sandwich arrived— it was absolutely massive and so filling that I couldn’t finish it in one sitting. The xiaolongbao were also incredibly delicious and full of flavor. On top of that, the staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the place was spotless. If you have a big appetite and want a satisfying meal, this is definitely a must-stop!

Bao Chick was such a great find! The crispy chicken sandwich lived up to its name — perfectly crispy with a light, airy crunch that didn’t scratch the roof of your mouth. The lamb soup was unique and full of rich, comforting flavor, something you don’t come across often. The soup dumplings were delicate and perfectly soupy, pairing so well with the chili oil they serve on the side. A delicious spot that delivers on both texture and flavor!
My meal was very good. I ordered Nashville Hot chicken sandwich, with side of Mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was very average, but satisfying. The sandwich was wonderful. Very crunchy, well seasoned, good sauce, pickles, fresh lettuce, delicious bun. The man who gave me my order was very kind and gave me a sample. I definitely recommend to anyone who likes chicken sandwiches.
Dropped by right before closing on a Thursday night. The guy who took my order was full of energy and had 5-star service. I’ve never had this experience ordering food at a place this close to closing. The chicken sandwich was very tempura like on the outside which I enjoyed. It paired great with the chili power that came with it. The chicken was hot and juicy. Pleasantly surprised and would come back.

The fried chicken is juicy and crispy. Getting it with spice is just more or less Chinese numbing spice powder. So be aware if that’s not your cup of tea. The dumplings were decent. The pan fried ones had better flavor than the steamed. The fries were good. All sauces are extra money, except chili oil and Chinese numbing powder
