What a great place! The inside is super cute and the booths are nice. The chopsticks holder is so cute! It’s a little panda! lol 🐼 The Peking duck is so yummy! We got a whole duck and you can also ask to take the rest of the duck home that they don’t cut up! It’s delicious. The wood ear mushroom dish was so so so good!!! Yum! 🍄🟫🤤 And the waiters were super nice! Great place overall! 👍
Plenty of parking but can be crowded, especially on the weekend. Fantastic service from the server, details and attentive. The foods are very tasty and fresh. The duck sliced right in front of you and well plated. Great dinner overall.
That day was my son's birthday, and every meals are very good. But any severs can't understand speaking English. It is difficult to communicate with non-Chinese customers.
The Dongpo pork was incredible—juicy, tender, and full of rich flavors! The duck was crispy and delicious, made with fresh ingredients. They offer a wide variety of options, including pork, fish, duck, beef, and more. The service was excellent; the staff were very friendly and attentive, regularly changing plates, refilling water, and being polite and detail-oriented. The environment and atmosphere were relaxing and culturally rich. We really enjoyed our experience here and would love to come back to try different dishes.
This is an incredibly authentic Sichuan restaurant! We used to eat at this chain often when we were living in China, where they have many locations. We were so surprised and excited to find one here in Irvine! The service is warm and welcoming, and the flavors are just as authentic as we remembered from China. Highly recommend trying it out — make sure to order the Peking Duck, Mapo Tofu, and Bang Bang Chicken. They may look spicy, but they are actually rich in flavor and absolutely delicious!
Amazing food and service as always! We ordered roasted duck, bamboo shoots, cold noodles with chicken, garlic vermicelli pot with shrimp. Our server’s recommendation was on point and everything was delicious.
Update May 2025: Since the original review, we have returned many times including for a Thanksgiving meal and the food quality has been consistently high with service efficient and friendly. The only slight negative is the worn and torn condition of the booth cushions, which are scheduled to be replaced according to our server. ------------ The Meizhou roast duck is as good as advertised. The Bangbang chicken is a perfec cold and chicken dish swimming in a spicy and oily "soup". Mapo tofu with Angus beef is perfect but be sure to ask for a bowl of rice. The string beans could be a bit more wrinkled but it was delicious. The cucumber salad brings a cold and crisp reprieve from all the spice. The team based service is quick and efficient, and the kitchen sent out our food in a flash as we were there for a late lunch and the dining room had just a few occupied tables. I will be back to taste more of the broad menu.
We went to Meizhou Dongpo to celebrate several family birthdays. The food was excellent (you know you have good Chinese food when all the people working there speak Chinese !!! :) I forgot to take several photos of the restaurant and food since it was all about birthday celebrations. Would I go there again ? Absolutely !!! The only thing that I thought was kind of disturbing was the 2 waitresses whom were arguing in front of us on how to serve our group. They should have taken that discussion out of the room
Perhaps one of the most spectacular meals we've ever had: roasted duck, wok fried lobster, sautéed short ribs, stir-fried pea tips & jellyfish & Chinese cabbage salad. Also, the staff is super friendly & attentive. Would give more than 5 stars if possible - Highly recommended!! UPDATE. We went yesterday again to this great restaurant and the food was again excellent. We had the roasted duck (a must), fatty pork, jellyfish, woodear, and several other dishes. Each dish was outstanding. The staff was super nice and friendly. There is absolutely nothing to complain about this place.

Came here on Thanksgiving and enjoyed a great meal. Restaurant aesthetic is not as nice as Meizhou Dongpos in other areas of LA, but is still nice. Would 100% recommend the Classic Dongpo Pork. Comes in cute little bowl, includes rice, meat and pickled veggies. Portion is quite small, a single serving, but quality and taste of the meat makes up for it. Meat is very juicy, and the juices soak into the rice, making it very delicious. Garlic wok-fried broccoli is good too, nothing special though! Fried buns with condensed milk are very good too! Also for sure recommend. Hot chili oil poached sliced beef is okay. Is expensive, but portion is fairly large, making it appropriately priced. It was not as spicy as expected, could have used more spice. Finally, wonton soup is also fine. Wontons and soup are yummy, but again, nothing special. Service is also good, we came on a very busy night and were warned ahead of time about the long wait times for other classic dishes like the roast duc. If available though, you should also try the roast duck. We have eaten it on previous visits and have greatly enjoyed it. Overall, please try out this restaurant. If you do, you must get the classic dongpo pork and roast duck. Great place for Chinese cuisine, it is one of our go-to spots for when we visit LA.
We had a lovely dinner with family at Meizhou Dongpao. Highlights were the Peking duck and the short ribs. The meal overall was fantastic and the restaurant was packed.

The service was very attentive, the food was incredibly flavorful, and the interior was beautifully decorated. I could tell that each dish was prepared to order and served very fresh. We had the roasted duck, mapo tofu, cucumber salad, eggplant, green beans, spicy chicken, and Dan Dan noodles. The roasted duck takes much longer to prepare than the other dishes, so it will probably come out after the other dishes, but that is the nature of the dish when it is freshly prepared. I would recommend coming here with a larger group so you can try a larger variety of dishes. Overall, I had a great experience
好评: ⸻ I had an amazing dining experience at this Chinese restaurant. Every dish was full of authentic flavor, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with real skill. The portions were generous, the ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. My favorites were the stir-fried noodles and the spicy beef — both incredibly delicious. The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. It’s the kind of place you can visit for a casual meal or bring friends for a special dinner. I will definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend!

Their roasted duck was very tasty and we really enjoyed it. Also we liked the Sichuan eggplant dish. The mung bean noodle dish was just okay. The service was good.
I suspect the pork belly and orange chicken would have made this a 5/5 for me. Eggplant in chili garlic sauce ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - little sweet which concerned me, but it was delicious Wok fried string beans ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - crisp, not soggy - flavorful Sichuan dumplings ⭐⭐⭐ - my bf didn't like the sauce - it isn't a dumpling spot, probably not the best move tbh - but the skin and meat was good Hot chili poached sliced beef⭐⭐ - too oily - wouldn't reorder - like the greens Half duck ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - like the crisp skin- was melting in my mouth and crispy at the same time - loved the accompaniments
This is a popular Sichuan cuisine restaurant in the area, so if you’re planning to visit on the weekend, make sure to make a reservation in advance. Otherwise, expect to wait at least half an hour at the door. Although it’s a Sichuan restaurant, they oddly advertise Peking duck as their specialty, which is usually a red flag for me. The duck is just okay, to be honest, but reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the other dishes seem overpriced, in my opinion. The pig knuckle is tender, but the spicy sauce is far too salty, so watch out for that. Overall, it’s a decent Chinese restaurant. Perhaps my expectations were too high before coming here since everyone seems to rave about it.
Be here several times already. We were in a private room this time. The food is getting better, much more better than before. I can tell then owner has been doing a lot of work behind as improved food and customer service. Which I like most is the beef, lobster, and sour sweet fish. If you are looking for a private room for party or business treat, good choice here.
Heard this is the place to go for duck so we got the half order. All the food came out fast and it was good except the Sichuan dumplings. It was like a giant pork meatball, but maybe other people will like it, but it was not for me. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Loved the gorgeous booths and beautiful lanterns. The service was good. Can’t believe it used to be Marie Calendars. Think everyone eating there was Chinese except us. Prices are pretty high.

I can’t say this is the best Peking duck — more like the Peking duck that lives down the street and is just good enough when I’m too lazy to drive further. The food is a solid three stars, the service is fine, nothing outstanding. I keep coming back though, mostly because it’s within walking distance. Sometimes it surprises me in a good way, other times I wonder if the chef is on vacation and left his cousin in charge.
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and there was no wait. We ordered the half Meizhou roast duck ($49.99), A choy ($17.99), and braised pork with brown sauce and bamboo shoots ($26.99). The Peking duck was not the best I've had. It was thinly sliced, but didn't have much meat. The meat wasn't noticeably tender or flavorful, and the skin wasn't noticeably crispy. There was a heater underneath the plate to keep the duck warm so that was interesting. They gave us thin pancakes instead of the traditional buns, so I wasn’t a fan of the pancakes either. For the price, I expected the Peking duck to be mindblowingly good. The braised pork was solid, but not the most tender. The A choy was good and not too salty. Ambiance is nice and service is good. They filled our water frequently throughout the meal. Overall, I wasn't impressed by the food here.
The furniture is in a horrible shape there (see pics) and it's very overpriced for what they serve. Only duck was fine but the other dish was mostly peanuts and not tasty at all. No napkins in the bathroom etc. And almost 100$ for a lunch for 2. Service was friendly but nothing special. I am not coming back.

I pick this restaurant as I had a good experience previously. I remember the environment was nice and decorated well. HOWEVER! When I sit down, the seats are so worn out!!!! Worse than anything I could imagine!!! So shameful to host my business lunch there! Hope the owner can see this review as a wake up call to do some updates! At least to replace these seats!
