We went there for breakfast. Their bagel sandwiches and coffee was very good. I can not say they are the best bagels I have ever had but better average for sure. But I need to say that, their outside space is unbeatable. Luckily we were in Ithaca on a sunny day and enjoyed the view of the university from our table.

Awesome bagles! Fantastic spot to work for students and locals in a coffee shop style atmosphere. They do have great coffee and bagles, but also a large selection of sandwiches, smoothies, and pastries too. I came during the morning, but their draft beer selection was also impressive.

** Closing Summer 2020! Visit while you can! ** I've loved Collegetown Bagels, and especially the Collegetown location since I was a student at Cornell. Usually busy, this is a great spot to grab a quick bite, get a deliciously customized coffee or smoothie, and try out any of the weirdly named sandwiches. An outdoor area with plenty of seating is great for people watching or just catching up with friends, studying, or hanging out. I will miss this place!

Love this place. During grad school, I spent way too much money here holed up at Collegetown Bagels studying and just absorbing the environment. Has the classic crunchy granola feel of Ithaca and love that it's a local small business. Prepare for long lines, crowded seating with lots of Cornell students, and great conversation. Awesome coffee brewed to perfection, incredible bagel sandwiches, and all the desserts you could ever dream up.

As long as you know what you're getting into Collegetown Bagels is an amazing experience every time. The only reason I say this is because it seems like they are always extremely crowded and busy, music is always playing and people are talking pretty loud. So if you're looking to do some quiet studying it may not be the best place to go depending on when you go there. That being said this place is absolutely a gym in the area. I love the food, the coffee is good and in the warmer months you can even sit outside. If you're into people watching it's a pretty fun place to go with your friends. I highly recommend this place if you go to visit Ithaca.

My absolute favorite breakfast place in this town. The bagels are always perfectly cooked. And my boyfriend says the breakfast sandwiches are great too. Try some of the specialty coffee options, they are really delicious. All around five stars.

Just an all around awesome bagel place. A++ I would rather support this local business then ever step foot into a Dunkin again.

Tons of vegan options! Loved the Plant Power bagel sandwich. Coffee isn't bad either. There were 4 different vegan cake/pastry options that were delicious.

My friends and me hang out here everyday, I’m obsessed, I want to try everything from their menu: bagels, baked goods, bowls, shakes…I wouldn’t know where to start. The chocolate chip cookies SLAP too and the vibe is immaculate. The other day we spent 5 hours sitting in the sun drinking reasonably priced mimosas and kombucha. 10/10

Been there thrice have only had the New Yorker - the meat literally melts in your mouth, so I always get double meat. The last time I went they had matzo ball soup, a bit salty for my taste but it was cold in April and I loved it.

I love how lively this place is, no matter what time you go! I very much enjoyed the breakfasts I had here. It's just it could be a bit crowded as per Ithaca's standard. I especially love the outdoor seats. The big buck warp and the Riviera wrap are my personal favorite, and they are good filling.

This place feels like home. Its cozy, crowded, bohemian and serves good food and coffee. I love places like this that have a lot of character and local charm and this is a must visit staple in Ithaca. Yes the college kids are a little annoying but it's their backyard so I can't hate.

Collegetown Bagels (CTB) is an iconic, must-visit spot in Ithaca, serving up a perfect blend of delicious bagels, hearty sandwiches, and an all-around cozy atmosphere. With locations in both Collegetown and downtown Ithaca, this popular café has been a local favorite for years, offering a welcoming vibe that draws in students, locals, and visitors alike. Whether you're grabbing a quick breakfast, enjoying a leisurely brunch, or fueling up for a busy day, Collegetown Bagels never disappoints. The bagels at CTB are, without a doubt, the star of the show. Baked fresh daily, they are the ideal balance of chewy, soft, and slightly crispy on the outside. There’s a wide selection of flavors, from classic plain and everything to more unique options like cinnamon raisin and garlic. Pair any bagel with a spread, and you’ve got a satisfying meal. Their cream cheese options are extensive, with favorites like chive, garden veggie, and honey walnut, all generously slathered on their bagels. For something more substantial, the bagel sandwiches are a great option. The Nova Lox sandwich, with cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onions, and capers, is a classic. If you're craving something warm and comforting, try the breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, cheese, and your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, all served on a freshly baked bagel. For lunch, the Turkey Club or Caprese sandwich are both great options, offering a perfect balance of fresh ingredients and bold flavors. In addition to bagels, Collegetown Bagels also serves up a variety of salads, soups, and baked goods, all made with the same attention to quality and freshness. Their cookies, especially the chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin, are a popular choice for those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth after a savory meal. The café’s atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with a charming, cozy interior that’s perfect for studying, hanging out with friends, or grabbing a coffee to go. The staff is friendly and always willing to recommend something if you're not sure what to choose. What makes Collegetown Bagels stand out is its consistency—no matter when you visit, you can always count on high-quality food, fresh ingredients, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a staple in Ithaca, and whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, CTB is sure to leave you satisfied and eager to return.

Collegetown Bagel got us hooked! We visited three times in just 24 hours! It's a breakfast (and lunch) champion, offering tons of choices beyond just their delicious bagels. From refreshing smoothies and thick milkshakes (and a surprising selection of beers), there's something for everyone. We also loved the salads and the variety of prepared meals and snacks you can grab and go for a picnic lunch. Plus, shoutout to Collegetown Bagel for offering gluten-free bread and bagels! The only thing missing was a bit more friendly service. The staff were efficient, but a touch of warmth would have made our visits even better. Overall, Collegetown Bagel is a fantastic choice for a delicious and convenient breakfast or lunch. The extensive menu, grab-and-go options, and gluten-free selections are a huge perk. With a little extra friendliness from the staff, Collegetown Bagel would be an absolute delight!

High quality food. A tad overpriced but at least you there are quality ingredients. There's a really nice spacious outdoor patio

The food here is to die for (not literally) you walk into the building and get a heavenly smell of freshly made bagels and drinks. They do also have a bar for over 21's. The staff are friendly and are always happy to help. What's even better is you walk out the store and down the road a little bit you can walk down the gorge and get some lovely views of the waterfalls.

This place was recommended by some friends and Cornell Alumni. Plenty of space to sit and talk inside. Lots of options (not just bagels). I had a Mexican style garlic bagel and was very impressed. They also had premade meals and plenty of other snacks. I’ll be back!

Delicious bagels. The bagel menu is extensive so i took a while to decide. The smooth menu was also big. You can customize the smoothie with whatever fruits you want. However, the smoothie was ok. A bit bland. I'd go for the famous, classic bagels.

The bagels here are top tier, also the breakfast burrito with sausage was delicious, the chive cream cheese hit the spot. I also went back and got the sandwich with turkey, apples, and brie and it was heavenly. The food was so good I didn't have time to take any pictures because I just ate it all up.

Many food available (definitely not only bagels). Pretty expensive though, but not too much. All food is delicious. The main problem is a huge amount of students, but it's not their fault - the dine-in space is a bit small. But you can eat outside - there's a big terrace. The place is clean, but it can be noisy and crowded inside, especially during lunch breaks and in the evenings (because it's Collegetown, as it's named)

The bagels are incredible! I also love that you can add various toppings like tomatoes and cucumbers. Please open one up in Ann Arbor, Michigan! Also would love one in Midtown Atlanta. OK, and in Royal Oak, Michigan please. The coffee was good also and so were the lattes perfect ratio of espresso to milk and when I asked for extra hot, the temperature was just right. In short, great place!

Collegetown Bagels is a popular spot right in front of Cornell University. Despite the name, which might suggest they only sell bagels, this place offers much more! They have a wide variety of drinks, including beer, alongside their bagel selections. While I only had coffee during my visit, I'm definitely curious to try their beer next time I'm in the area. It's a convenient and versatile place for students and visitors alike, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or looking to unwind with a drink.

Nova lox with cream cheese, tomatoes, onions and capers on a toasted Rosemary Salt bagel. On the side with an Iced Matcha Latte. It was a perfect breakfast! Glad Collegetown Bagels is still around! They were smaller and on the other side of College Ave when 30+ years ago. When I was just there last Sunday, sandwiches were taking 25 minutes - worth the wait, I'm sure. We opted for toasted bagels with cream cheese, which took only five minutes. The Irish Cream latte was very sweet. The Butter Pecan Cocoa was delicious. The drinks took ten minutes. And the Smores bar was heavenly!

Have been to the area few times, but first visit to Collegetown Bagels, I must say it’s much more than the name says. Lots of varieties, food & beverages are tasty and fresh, service is friendly and efficient. Would recommend you to make a trip here, before considering any other ones. Just minutes away from anywhere in Cornell area. Thank you and keep up with the good job.

DELISH!!! I loved the vibe, coffee, bagels and variety. I had to stop myself from visiting a third time before heading back to the Mitten state. Also love that they stock baked goods from Ithaca Bakery, one place to grab goodies from both local gems. I'm with it!

Went in College Town Bagel just to see what the talk was all about this place. My son and I had a Brunch at the place and gotta say, my taste buds did not suffer! Love how this business is set up and when leaving having a conversation to talk about the place afterwards. They have wifi for who needs it. Also they have a place to sit outside for people to enjoy eating outdoors! College Town Bagel is located in The Commons of Ithaca NY down town area. Many other restaurants & bar n grill pubs with different culture appeals.

Great meal! Visited with my wife and son while on a college visit. There's plenty of options and a decent vegetarian/vegan selection. All the of us went for different types of food and everyone left happy. I would definitely recommend for a quick bite. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

It's a great place but food isn't prepared on site and I've had to return stuff that wasn't fresh. Also the checkout process is fiddly for when there's long lines, especially as regards having to retype your email for each receipt.

This place is a staple for my family ( read: bagel loving NY native dad) when we come to visit. Holy cow the new location is HUGE, and the options are almost overwhelming and too much. Great for a quick bite anytime of day. Also, desserts, and a bar full of cool looking IPA’s. The staff is super friendly and positive and I love supporting local business! I agree with the 11$ a sandwich commenter below me, but that is the going rate unfortunately, maybe throw in a bag of chips. Also, the Udi’s GF options are lame (especially for an added fee…), I want some of your homemade creations not a boring old plain Udi I can buy from the store.

CTB is an absolute staple of Collegetown. They have a great variety for everything! Tons of bagel choices to suit any type of meal you’re going for. They have an extensive drink menu of coffees, teas, smoothies, and milkshakes. Their dessert/pastry case is giant and they swap them out frequently so there’s always something new. The new location is very clean and nice. I love to see that they’ve found a way to stay in the heart of Collegetown. Prices are reasonable and the quality is never subpar.

Great food, although I really don't understand the whole push towards massive salt crystals on rosemary bagels. Eating there is always a treat, in part because of pricing, but it really is good and the staff are nice. 4 stars isn't because it's bad, I just give it because there wasn't anything particularly outstanding either.

I can understand how this type of quirky place would be the center of a college town — lots of funky options, a cool building, etc. But bagels do take an eternity to come out, the cashiers are surly, and honestly the bagels just aren’t that good. I mean, look, I’m a New Yorker. I’m going to be hard to please on bagels. But the lox was bland, the bagels were inconsistent in size and flavor, and they were a bit stale. So not bad — I mean, it was the best option around by far. But not an amazing bagel.

Yummy sandwiches and bagels, a staple for Cornell students. They have a variety of options that cater to different diets, including halal. That being said, I deducted a star because who charges $11 for a sandwich especially when your customers are mostly students.

First time here in Cornell and I had a hankering for some quick bites. I told myself, where do the college kids go. I stopped by inside and absolutely loved the decor. I got their round house bagel since it reminded me of nyc's solid sausageeggandcheeseketchupsaltpepper. I thought it would be packed with flavor with the Rosemary bagel, but every bite was almost bland. The sausage didn't have any real flavor. The cheese and the added ketchup I had them put in really carried the bagel.

Not really a huge issue that you have to order food and drinks at different stations, but the staff’s attitude can make the process a little stressful if it’s your first time here. So basically, sandwiches and salads are at the very back of the restaurant, while soup and pastries are ordered at the counter in the middle of the hallway, and beers or other drinks are at the counter right by the entrance.

After a full morning of exploring Ithaca, wandering through Cornell University and chasing waters, we found ourselves a bit hungry. Collegetown Bagels and surrounding were the perfect stops. The area was quiet with school out of session, that only added to the charm. We enjoyed sitting outside and soaking in the calm summer vibes - just what we needed. CTB offers a great variety - bagels, creative sandwiches and assortment of drinks and tempting desserts. There’s definitely something for everyone here.

Z

After I got my coffee, I looked for the table where most coffee shops put the milk. Unfortunately, I could not find the milk, so I asked the staff for either H&H or whole milk. The staff replied, "so you want a latte, which will cost extra dollars.” Her comment shocked me because the other coffee shops never asked me for extra money for milk. The setting and food were great. But good luck to the next person who asks for milk.

B
Ben Wells

The food is really just alright, bagels really aren’t amazing but the sandwiches can be tasty. The drinks are good but the service at the bar can be spotty, especially during happy hour when everyone is cutting the line and wasting time with free samples. But the outdoor seating area is really awesome and makes up for a lot of the headache.

N
Natalie Nelson

Fantastic food and great options for me as a vegan who hates vegetables! The staff is amazing. My biggest issue is the way they play on the ignorance of its customers (which I assume are primarily college students with little to no money). When paying, there is an electronic option to add a tip. Typical, yes. However, my around $31 bill had the option to tip 15% at $7.34. PLEASE TELL ME HOW 15% OF $31 IS $7.34!?!? After further examination, all of the tip options are significantly higher than that of the actual percentage of the bill. Super frustrating the way the payment software plays on the ignorance and unwavering trust of their customers.

V
Victoria Burnett

Espresso was cold, avocado toast was tired mashed avocado on bread that was untoasted and soggy - all after waiting 20 minutes. Staff were very polite and apologetic but if you charge someone $9 for two pieces of toast with not-very-fresh avocado on the top, it’s pretty fundamental to actually toast the bread and serve it warm.

A
Alex Grebe

Went “off-season” in early August for lunch. The food is average. The bagels are a little better than the premade ones from Dunkin Donuts. The sandwiches are for petite people. If you’re from NY and are used to your solid corner bagel/deli spot this place will disappoint you. Good enough for college town I guess. Contrary to some of the other reviews, the service was friendly and nice!

E
Exoh Tutorials

Food was okay. The sandwich was generic, we weren’t even done ordering before it was put through. I didn’t even get to say what bagel I wanted on the sandwich. She basically just wanted to rush us out. I ended up with a plain bagel, which wasn’t bad but not what I wanted. The place looks good. It’s clean and has condiments available for everyone. The “FreshFruitLemonade” was middle of the road. Wasn’t that sour or sweet. Overall 3 stars. Not from the area and don’t plan on coming back anytime soon. Maybe next year we will try again.

It was fine the place is super cute with lots of options but don’t get the Huevos Señora it was like very little food for 7 dollars, stick to the bagels or sandwiches if you actually want to feel full it made me sad and hungry:(

The bagels are expensive but good, the coffee is passable, but the sanitary practices and customer service are lacking. I waited at the register while an employee, wearing gloves, sat using her phone for about two minutes before another worker came to take my order. I then watched as the same employee, still without changing her gloves, wiped surfaces with a sanitation rag, flipped through a magazine, chatted with coworkers, and continued using her phone all while preparing food. By the time I left, she had yet to change gloves, handling food for multiple customers after touching various unsanitary surfaces and potentially spreading bleach from the sanitation bucket. Absolutely unacceptable and frankly disgusting.

A lot of options and the ingredients seem pretty good. The taste of sandwiches were pretty average though. The guy at the counter seemed grumpy as well, which isn't the best interaction to start off your day in the morning. The delivery of our food was extremely slow even though we did not have people in front of us. Good location vibe and outdoor sitting.

Ordered a cappuccino which was completely flat with a thin layer of foam on top (as opposed to properly frothed/steamed). It was also scalding hot (AKA over-steamed) and I burned myself trying to drink it. Got a nova lox bagel ($13) and came out to be $17 after subbing for allergens, making one addition, and tax. The additional fees for subs seems excessive and borderline exploitive to people who require these accommodations to eat, especially when the sub ingredients are likely basement price/quality (basing this off the tofutti cream cheese, which is terrible), and in consideration to the fact these are NOT additions, but substitutions. I would say overall maybe try to incorporate allergy friendly ingredients without overpricing for them and train employees to actually make a drink properly so people are getting what they pay for instead of a hot mess (literally). I will say in light of this, the guy who helped me order my food was very easy to talk to and helpful, though he didn’t mention the additional fees for subs.

The food here is very good and there is a great selection of everything for a great and yummy lunch. However… waiting for over an hour to get four sandwiches for my family was NOT acceptable. I waited there on Monday from 1pm to 2pm+ with a huge crowd of other customers. Those who ordered just one sandwich were served quick while those with large orders (four sandwiches?) had to wait. Instead of pausing orders and helping out the kitchen, they simply kept taking more orders and getting more backed up. Sloppy way to run the place. Yes I will return here but the service was TOTAL disappointment.

Positive: The bagels were great. Nicely toasted. Good amount of cream cheese. Negative: The service. It's very disorganized. I ordered, however I wasn't given a number nor did they ask for my name. A worker there got irritated because I was standing near the salad bar waiting for my bagels. I was just waiting till they called them out, but I guess it's not a good place to wait. I didn't wanna be in other people's way. Also, where it says to 'place order here' isn't for drinks; ordering something like coffee is at the register where people go to pick up food. However, I don't think there's a sign about where to pick up food. It's just a generally confusing place for a new customer. I genuinely feel bad those that work there; they probably feel like traffic cops.

Over $70.00 for 4 bagel sandwiches and 4 cans of carbonated lemonade is completely unreasonable. 2 of the sandwiches were lox and cream cheese , one was hummus and veggies, and one was red pimento, mozzarella, and some green, perhaps lettuce. None of them were anything special. There is no waiter staff, you order at a counter and they send you a message when it's time to FOR YOU to pick your order up. Then, when you pay your bill, they have the nerve ask for a tip. You do what you want. I won't be back. These folks are just riding on their long reputation. They don't deserve it at this time.

Impressively slow, it takes at least half an hour for them to make a bagel. It's commendable actually. They've changed locations and the service is as glacial as ever. Well done.

If you actually like a good bagel, you won't be tricked by the cute and quaint interior. The bagels are no better than Wegmans. And all the sandwiches are just cheap deli sandwiches with cute names to justify the $13 price. It's bewildering to see so many 5 star reviews with such sad pictures of bagel sandwiches.

Very confusing to order and pickup food. Their cafe au lait is not exactly a proper homage to the original at cafe du monde in New Orleans and the cannoli I ordered must have been several days old as it was quite stale.

Ordered a few things from them today, including: Green Street, Overnight Oats, avocado toast and the big Buck. The buck was just.. okay. I was under the impression the peppers or onions would be sautéed but they were just raw. The green street was good. Oats were fine. The avocado toast looked and tasted awful. Let the photos speak for this. I would never serve this to anyone looking like that.

Overrated and overpriced. I genuinely cannot fathom the chokehold that Collegetown Bagels has on the city of Ithaca. THIS is the place that kept Dunkin' Donuts from opening a location here? Seriously believe that the only thing keeping this location afloat is their convenient location (proximity to Cornell campus). The service is absolute garbage. Employees are mostly students, and they are *visibly* incompetent. Before ordering, one of the cashiers had informed us that the wait would be around 30 minutes. Well, we placed our order and ended up waiting in line for nearly an HOUR. Had we known how long it would actually take, we wouldn't have ordered at all. The employees were evidently incapable of handling a rush, judging from the constant throng of people hovering around the waiting area. Not to mention, I can't even say that the wait was worth it. The food itself is extremely mediocre, and that's being generous. $40 for a stale a*s bagel (the bread was literally hard as a rock), a mediocre avocado sandwich (with barely any avocado), and some flavorless, watered-down fruit smoothies. All things considered, this place is undeserving of even one star lol. First and last time coming here.

The food and drinks were fine, but I went for happy hour and the bartender didn’t tell me until after he poured my beer that it’s the only one not at the happy hour discount. I wish I’d left it on the counter and just left, that seems like the kind of thing you should mention before you pour the drink. Gonna have to triple check with them from now on.

My partner has a treenut allergy. She told them this when ordering the food, but not 10 min after eating it she had to go to the hospital after using her EpiPen. They have zero regard for allergies. If you are sensitive to cross contamination do not eat here.

They took 30 mins to give me 3 sandwiches. Then they got my coffee order wrong and gave me a hot chocolate. I was order 945 and people next to me with order numbers 1,000 were getting their food before me.

Had to wait waayyyy toooo long for a sandwich. I noticed ppl ordered after me getting there's. When asked to cancel it got delivered in 30 sec magically. Poor service.

Average food and coffee, horrible service. The workers we encountered were pretty rude which kind of took us off guard because we thought it was a funky place and we were having a good time. Coffee came out, not as ordered but that’s ok. It’s just coffee. Then after asking at the 17, 21 and 25 minute mark, a nice lady grabbed our food that was in a bag, off the shelf. We had been sitting, waiting and patiently asking if our 2 simple bagels were ready and finally the only nice worker discovers them. Waste of time and the establishment wasn’t even busy. Also, the cream dispenser is horrifically dirty. Please clean those nozzles before some brilliant Cornell student gets botulism.

Ordered a panini and it was burnt, falling apart and soggy. Italian soda was bland with barely any flavoring ( I ordered mandarin with simple syrup and a blt)

This place rubbed me the wrong way. Pretentious for a customer-facing service establishment like an eatery. Little to no options for low-carb or keto individuals. No omelets. No grill. They made eggs on some unsanitary contraption and didn't prepare them safely. Bacon was microwaved. Awful. The whole experience felt depressing. Even the vibe inside and out felt like a science fiction movie such as the Twilight Zone. Everything felt out of place. Yet they are popular and apparently well loved. I cannot understand why. If you feel like you don't belong in this place you're not alone. Zero stars if I could.

Why dont they use real ciabatta ? Its just a normal sandwich bread so dont advertise it wrongly, made me pretty upset

Don’t order a simple breakfast sandwich and/or bagel unless you’re willing and able to wait 45 minutes or more for your order. I placed an in person order at a quarter after noon for a pizza bagel and BEC, at half past we were assured the order would be ready 15-20 minutes after ordering, yet our order was not completed until 12:53p. The unfortunate part is that I raised the need to leave at 12:50p about 25 minutes after I placed my order, but the staff was unwilling to adjust the order of food preparation and effectively told us ‘too bad’. If the business made it apparent that wait times were nearly 45 minutes, I simply would have ordered food elsewhere. I hope that this experience is not the standard but I wouldn’t be shocked if it were.

It was good in my first year. Now, the portion size and taste fall so far short of how they were before. Use to be an affordable option for good meals. Can’t say the same for now

I ordered an everything bagel with bacon egg and ham, made sure to emphasize that I don’t want cheese because I am allergic to dairy. I also ordered chipotle aioli which I was charged extra for. I finally got my bagel 45 minutes after ordering and it was a plain bagel, had cheese on it, and had no chipotle aioli. Definitely not happy!
