A presto Denise!! Eli
Posto unico. Ilaria
Excellent quality set menu. There's no internet connection, so phone and card reception is poor. Remember to bring cash 😉. The place is surrounded by nature, so it's definitely not the easiest to get to, but it's worth it!
Enchanting place at the bottom of the valley. They serve a set menu (35 euros this year). Generous portions and quality food. The polenta concia topped with gratinated onions is unforgettable.
A wonderful place in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. The restaurant offers an excellent lunch, excellent food with delicious local products. The artisanal ice cream is a must-try. The woman who served us was very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back!
wonderful location, a little off the beaten track... reachable only in the summer months... As for the restaurant, excellent local products, consequently an excellent lunch, the girl who served us very friendly and nice... very positive experience, we will return to sleep there for a few nights and contemplate nature.
Thank you to Denis, this lady is truly lovely and takes excellent care of us. The place is absolutely magnificent; I go back two or three times a year. This year I'm returning with my students—it's going to be incredible! Thank you for your warm welcome, and see you soon. Jonathan
Good food, good service, unfortunately access by car. Or luckily.
Visit this place!!! The food is great, the place is great and the service is great! Expect to pay a little above Italian average but it's well worth it.
A great place to rest in the mountains, generous sized plates Cash only
A very beautiful place with friendly people and simple good food.
Located at the end of a still uncontaminated valley, it offers you good local food, an incredible quiet, unpolluted air, many trekking opportunities...
Consigliato. Tornerei.
Aosta Valley cuisine is very simple. It doesn't require a Vissani or a Cannavacciuolo to express itself at its best. The secret lies in the raw materials used. And here we are in the excellence of "zero-mile products." The rest is the frame of a picture: a fairytale location, polite and friendly staff, as far as Aosta Valley residents can be (people I adore, having been frequenting the Valley for 40 years), and intelligent, given the reviews and their intervention aimed at improving the points criticized by some customers (for example, they offered to take away the leftover food, something I never do, but which I was pleased to hear). In short, a place worth visiting again and again, even if getting there is no easy feat.
Group of ancient alpine huts perfectly restored and converted into a family farm located in the upper part of the magnificent Vertosan valley (Avise, AO). The place can be reached from the main road via two dirt paths: one, more direct but only for off-road vehicles that runs on the orographic left of the Vertosan valley torrent and the other, for all cars but longer, that runs on the orographic right of the same torrent (be careful that the deviation between the two paths is marked by a sign with small and illegible writing). There is easy parking on site, even for the disabled. The place is really nice even if the welcome can be a bit rude for those who do not know the local style. The rooms are really very well cared for with a perfect bathroom and comfortable bed. The food is a fixed menu of very tasty local products: appetizer of Aosta Valley cold cuts, polenta and meat stew. The only flaw, in my opinion, is the price: a bit expensive for the limited offer and growing strongly from year to year. A place definitely worth visiting also to spend a few days with the family as a base for fabulous summer trips. Be careful that the cell phone does not work and the POS does not work. They only accept cash.
A truly lovely place, one of the few refuges, if not the only one, accessible by car, with permission for guests to use it. The farm roads are all dirt roads, so you have to go slowly and carefully; otherwise, you can leave your car at Lac Joux, where the asphalt ends, and walk the (not short) route. The place was recommended to us by locals. A spectacular and pristine location, with a friendly welcome. The menu was recited verbally, not knowing the prices (we later saw a small poster with dishes and prices at the entrance). This aspect is unclear. We ate well in both quantity and quality, from our youngest child, aged 7 months, to those over 40. The price was perhaps higher than expected, but I think it's fair given its location. Worth a try, perhaps better to get there on foot or by bike (getting there by car is an added expense). It's a shame they don't have a POS connection, as the satellite connection isn't compatible with newer POS terminals. However, you can pay by cash or bank transfer (as we did). Highly recommended! A truly unique place!
A truly beautiful cabin, accessible via a pleasant, but somewhat lengthy hike or by car. We ate simple, but delicious dishes. The price was a bit high for what we ate. An important note: despite the Wi-Fi that is kindly provided, no payment other than cash is accepted.
Posto splendido in mezzo alle montagne, facilmente accessibile a piedi un po' meno in auto. Menu fisso molto vario. Prezzo esageratamente caro. Pagamento solo in contanti. No carta di credito
The place is beautiful, there's no denying it. A rustic oasis in the middle of nowhere, reachable after a half-hour dirt road. The food is also worth it: everything is typical, authentic, and locally sourced, except for the €35 fixed menu, which, in fairness, should be disclosed to customers in advance. Everything else is negative. The owner's rudeness, bordering on rudeness (almost everyone writes this, it can't be a coincidence); the waitress's hasty manners; the inability to take away leftover food, which incidentally is paid for, is not provided on the house ("you know, we have pigs to feed..."). But the most sore point is the requirement to pay in cash (the ATM doesn't work, officially due to a lack of network: your problem) and, above all, the receipt that has to be begged for (which would be a matter for the Revenue Agency). As far as we're concerned: postponed until September after the managers' internship in Romagna.
I'd been there about twenty years ago and had fond memories of it, but now it's sadly become an exclusive place devoted to money. Having packed lunches with me, I didn't book the restaurant and was thinking of stopping there for dessert. At the entrance to the access road, there's a municipal sign prohibiting cars and parking along the entire road, except for their guests with reservations. So I parked in Vens and walked for almost two hours to get there, and of course I had to walk almost two hours back as well. The place is much more chic and exclusive than it once was. I ate my packed lunch away from them because they even warned me not to bring picnics. I even lost my appetite for dessert given their sheer exclusivity.
The friendliness of the staff is another matter, but even worse was the price for the food and the quality... a real steal. The fixed-price menu cost €35, without even knowing what it consisted of; three of us paid €140 (which means €35 more for covers, two quarts of unbottled red wine, three desserts, and two coffees... you name it!!!). The POS was out of order, so either bank transfer or cash. For those who paid in cash, "naturally," and not just us, no receipt was issued. In short... the food was so-so, and the price was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!! Advice: A nice walk, but bring a packed lunch.
Terrible experience! The place is nice, but that's about it. You pay a lot, really, really high for what you eat, which is a snack, not lunch! And they don't have a POS terminal and force you to pay in cash! It's a shame they don't warn you about this when you book by phone. And it's a shame that then, since we didn't have cash, they told us to connect to the WiFi and do an instant bank transfer!!! We felt cheated because they could use a POS terminal with the same WiFi. But the most unacceptable thing is truly the quality/price ratio. NEVER AGAIN!!!! I strongly advise against it.
Unbelievably beautiful valley .... but, bring your own lunch instead of eating at this bar / restaurant. The food was without real taste, the server gumpy and well overpriced for the quality... The polenta with cardonada was the worst Ive eaten in 40 years in the area, teh bread was stale and no credit cards are taken (despite having internet service - which is not for customers). Oh, and no ricevuta - which is against the law. So pack a lunch and enjoy the glorious Val de Vertosan without visiting this spot for more than a cafe.
