Such a nice ,cozy, comfortable place. The waiter served us with such care and kindness, the food was excellent, loved the quality and loved the portions, everything was perfect and im not exaggerating. My only personal advice, coming straight from Italy,i thought that there i could hear some Italian at least from the music playing in the background, so my suggestion would be to actually play some Italian music. Oh and loved the Christmas decorations and all the little Italian things especially at the bar. Saw the little statue of the Carabiniere and the Vergine Maria picture, loved it ❤️ definitely will be back 💚🤍❤️

We are here for the first time tonight before heading to an event at the t mobile center. We had great food, excellent service, and the atmosphere was nice. Highly recommend if you need a place to eat downtown. It was a bit pricey, but we also had dessert and drinks. I definitely recommend the Four Layer dessert!

We visited Anthony’s on a Saturday night and had a wonderful evening. Right from the start the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The arrangement of pictures, the dark green throughout the space, and the beautiful woodworking give the room a classic feel. The busts of Roman figures on the walls add to the character and charm. I also couldn’t help but notice the beautiful old cigarette dispenser near the bar. The food was excellent. I was disappointed they didn’t have chicken piccata, but they did offer a lemon dish that delivered great flavor. The pasta and mains were cooked well and the portion sizes were generous. At the end of the meal I ordered an old fashioned and it was amusing to see it arrive with two different types of cherries. Service was attentive without feeling rushed. The Saturday night energy felt lively but comfortable and the overall experience made the evening feel special. I highly recommend Anthony’s for anyone who enjoys classic Italian food and a warm, character-filled dining room.

What an incredible dining experience! Anthony’s Restaurant & Lounge is everything you want in authentic Italian dining. From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The staff goes above and beyond, friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of the food they serve.

Felt like I was walking into a restaurant out of the Godfather. Loved the atmosphere. Our server Babette was awesome and gave great recommendations. The only downfall was that we ate so much of the delicious bread, salad and appetizers, that we could barely eat our meals. They made for excellent leftovers though!

Dining at Anthony’s Italian Restaurant in downtown Kansas City was an outstanding experience that I cannot wait to share! From the moment I walked through the doors, I was enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its authentic Italian charm. The decor elegantly blends traditional and modern elements, creating a cozy yet sophisticated dining space. The management and staff welcomed me with genuine smiles and attentive service, instantly making me feel like a valued guest. Now, let’s talk about the food! The menu is a delightful homage to classic Italian cuisine. I started with the salad and ranch which was fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of seasoning. For the main course, I chose the Chicken Spiedini and a side of Pasta Angela and it was nothing short of spectacular. The meal was complimented with slices of Italian bread and butter. Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or simply want to indulge in delicious Italian fare, Anthony’s is the place to be in downtown Kansas City. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone who appreciates great food and exceptional service.

Great old school Italian spot! We hadn't been here in years and it is exactly the same. The negronis were delish, the toasted ravioli were perfectly crispy in the slightly sweet tomato sauce. Super fresh Roma bakery bread. We went specifically for the chicken dinner which is a heck of a deal. Chicken was crispy and nicely seasoned. Came with a decent salad and a side of pasta. Finished it up with some spumoni. They sat our party of 10 in a weird corner which wasn't my favorite, and made it really difficult to have conversation. There were some mix ups with the chicken order as well, but overall definitely worth a visit.

Stopped in for a drink and to pass some time. The staff was amazing. They were very attentive, and all my needs were met. The bar drinks were great! Had a long island ice tea, and i can't count how often people mess that drink up! Didn't stay long enough to eat, but the menu looked amazing, and the food smelled really good. Come check this place out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Love Anthony's, so good to eat a meal grounded in an establishment that has been there for so many years and the food still just keeps hitting it out of the park. Loved the bottle of Seeker Pinot Moir 2022 We will be back, as we always do

We had a great young man as our servicer. He was very nice, he took great care of us. The serve warm bread with butter, so yummy. ▪︎What put it over the top for me, was when our server brought our bills ( I was with 2 of my co-workers) this young man brought us bags to put our to-go containers in. It may sound strange, but you just don't know. ▪︎I give him 20 ☆'s. ▪︎You don't know how many times, I have had to chase a server down (different restaurants, to get my server for a bag). Someone taught him to pay attention to details. I so truly appreciate this. ▪︎I recommend to stop in, enjoy lunch special or dinner with your family & friends. ♡ The food was yummy. I had the Italian steak sandwich with pasta with Alfredo sauce. ♡

Great restaurant with an old school/family vibe. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We started with a bottle of wine, and although their wine list is a bit limited, the bottle we got was amazing (we’ll definitely be back for $20 Wednesday wine nights). Toasted ravs with the sugo sauce were delicious. We weren’t going home after dinner so we decided to split an entree (chicken parm) because we didn’t want leftovers, but we were still pretty full when we left. Definitely be sure to try the homemade cannoli for dessert as it’s the best I’ve ever had!

KC Mafia, delicious Italian food, cozy atmosphere, and awesome service was all part of our dining experience. You've got to try it out, if only once. Their calamari appetizer was "keep calm, don't panic if you see a Mafia descendant sitting at the table beside you" delicious.

My friends and I went to Anthony’s last night before going to a concert, this was my second time eating here and I thought it was absolutely fantastic.. I enjoyed the modest although flavorful antipasto and the bread of course which didn’t feel too overbearing. So that alone was nice. For dinner I was going to get Chicken Spiedini but one of the specials was Veal Spiedini so I decided to get that instead. The Veal Spiedini was wonderful in every way, I enjoyed each cut of veal had a great texture in a fried coating and smothered in an amazing cream sauce. It was presented on a plate of pasta. I highly recommend, even if you have to ask for it! The service between the waitress and bussers was timely and sociable. Tremendous atmosphere. 🔥🔥🔥

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in KC! All the food is great, but there’s something special about their warm bread!! 🤤

Finally was able to pop into the famous, iconic, historic Anthony's on Grand. It did not disappoint! Kelly, our server, had exceptional customer service and very knowledgeable of the menu. The Linguine w/ Sugo was so savory! 🍝 Can't wait to explore more of the menu!

We walked in with a party of 7 and they didn't have a table, so we waited at the bar. The bartender was really helpful, funny and made our wait enjoyable. I had the chicken parm with linguine and I really enjoyed it. I recommend getting the Jazz oil, herb and garlic for the bread. Its on the appetizer menu.

Our server Noa was great. The food was amazing. We were looking for true Italian restaurant and found it at Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge. We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and this was the perfect place for it. We ordered the Pasta Angela with chicken. It was so delicious! They brought us spumoni dessert to celebrate. Everything was perfect. Thanks for all the people who serviced us you all were great!

Really great food. The red sauce is maybe a little sweet. Service is great and it's a nice comfortable place to sit and eat.

Food and service were great, especially the service. Everyone seems happy to work here, which I love to see. Jazzy dip was divine. Atmosphere lost one star because the music choice was a bit odd at times.

Older Kansas City Italian meeting place. Food is excellent. Service is always good. Great bar. Friendly no pressure, enjoy yourself vibe.

We absolutely love Anthony's. Anytime we are in town for a volleyball tournament, we stop by. They food is delicious and I not the type who likes Italian food that much. However, Anthony's is another level of Italian food. I can't get enough of the Shrimp Spino. It's fabulous. Our family highly recommends going to Anthony's. You won't be disappointed.

I reserved the private room for my wifes' birthday party this past weekend. We had approx 20 guests & everything was perfect! The staff was so friendly letting us setup prior to our event, the food & drinks were fantastic and our server was outstanding! Our entire group was new to the restaurant and no doubt we will be back. Thank you all for providing such an amazing evening!

I love this place! Every time we come to the KC area we stop in for a bite to eat. Calamari is served with sugo and garlic sauce both are delicious on their own but together… whew… it will blow your mind! Their sauce is delicious on anything! We had chicken parm and pasta Angela tonight both were fantastic!

I came here on a whim on a Saturday night because I wasn't sure where to go and it was nearby. Very happy I stopped in. I was by myself and got the last seat available at the bar during peak business hours. Staff was busy but they weren't stressed and just kept the flow going with friendly, courteous service. Ordered the chicken parmegian, a classic, and was not disappointed. Crispy breading, tender chicken. Just how you want it. Didn't need a knife, only my fork. Cocktails were great as well. Good for a date if you have one. I would recommend making a reservation for larger groups of people. Stop in and enjoy yourself. You won't regret it.

We always enjoy our dinners at Anthonys. Last night we took friends who had never been there. Wow... you all showed your stuff. Everyone had something different and it was all amazing. From appetizer to coffee it was all spectacular!

Oh man!! This place is why I love Kansas City. This downtown restaurant is what many “old school” Italian joints wish they were. The location, building, and entrance are nothing short of perfect. Ambiance, and in particular, the small wooden bar, is fantastic. Service is wonderful. Great music. And we haven’t even reached the food. Opening bread is wonderful. Italian salad, with their own Italian dressing (add ground pepper and parm) is incredible. And their signature ravioli Jerry Jean with an added meatball was nothing short of incredible. Support this place. There aren’t many left in this corporate world.

We were there on a fairly busy night. We had no reservations, and just wanted a quick bite before going to the Brass Monkey. We (party of 4) were seated pretty quickly. We ordered 4 appetizers and a couple of drinks. The appetizers were all great and the service was excellent.

Had a reservation for 11 guys tonight on a busy night. Nico and the other lady waitress were awesome. The manager as well was excellent. Drinks, appetizers and entrees were all so good. Great atmosphere. Appreciate the service.

Very good dining experience. Our party had many different items on the menu. Chicken fettuccine and the ravioli was fabulous! Our server was great. Very attentive and food came out right on point.

Accommodated last minute Valentine’s Day plans and couldn’t be happier. Very thankful and lucky to have gotten in when we did. Toasted Ravioli’s were fried perfectly and the sauce paired, complimented the dish nicely. Pasta Angela was creamy and cheesy. Lemon Drop Martini was sweet and sour, a real treat. Service was top-tier, not a single moment where an empty glass wasn’t filled, an empty plate taken. Really impressed and looking forward to return. Thank you for being apart of our Valentine’s Evening!

T

I want to start off by saying AMAZING! The staff was super amazing from start to finish. We came on Valentine’s Day which is a busy night. Even though they were crazy busy staff was still amazing. The restroom was out of toilet paper and the owner was happy to get it and fill it back up without asking a staff member or even having an issue doing it. Also our server JOE PETE WAS AWESOME SAUCE! Thank you all for your amazing hospitality. We will be back! This is the best for our first time here 10/10

Yum the Jazz olive oil dipping sauce so amazing, strong delicious flavor! Bread was fresh. Our service was fabulous, even though the kitchen delivery was very slow and our food was not all hot and the chicken was not crispy. But the atmosphere is very cool, an old school Italian restaurant. Overall, staff was excellent. Our last visit the food was much better maybe it was what we ordered this time.

My wife took me out for a spur of the moment dinner. She had looked at this place online prior to our arrival and had an idea of what she wanted. My go to everytime I try a new Italian restaurant is lasagna. I ordered lasagna with sausage. The sauce was great. The portion size was perfect with a nice creamy ricotta blend inside the pasta noodles. I have to come back to try another dish.

P
Pam Baker

The lasagna was a huge portion and melted in your mouth. The sauce was on the sweeter side. The shrimp with angel hair pasta was a little too much oil and garlic for my taste. The service was very attentive. This place is right out the Soprano’s.

K
Kelii Kanoa

The food and the atmosphere was great. Great service from the staff. Their serving portions for the pasta is great unless your super hungry, expect to take the rest home. We are their on a Sunday and apparently they serve fried chicken as the daily special. Looked good for an Italian restaurant. I ate the traditional Cabonara. I’ve had my fair shares of it from all over the world to include, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and Holland. Of all places, my favorite was in Berlin. However, the one here was a pretty good contender against those in Europe. By the time I was done eating half of my meal, it looked like I ran out of pasta. They did not hold back on the bacon/pancheta.

J
Joe Porras

Overall a good experience. The four star rating for the food all comes down to the overall experience of the party. We were a group of ten, and some of the entrees, like the chicken spiedle and the shrimp scampi were absolutely amazing, whereas others were only average or good. It's worth trying, but some dishes won't wow you why others will.

M
Meghan Stufflebean

This was our first time eating here. We went in for lunch. We came to kc for a concert. First of all the red sauce was soooooo good. I ordered the steak sandwich. It was good but it was cold. So a little disappointed but still good. I ate half and for supper I put it in the air fryer and it was way better. My husband’s chicken Parmesan was really good and hot. Fries were extra good as well as the side of pasta. I got a side salad and the Italian dressing was amazing but the salad came with just lettuce and dressing. No toppings. I will definitely be back on my next trip to kc.

Our friends that have lived in Kansas City for decades, invited us to meet them at Anthony’s restaurant before our trip to MTH for a show tonight. Anthony’s is a place they really like and we all felt like Italian food. They had made reservations for 5:30 on a Saturday night and the place was hopping. We got there before happy hour ended at six and ordered a glass of wine each for five dollars, which was a good value. My wife and I ordered two meatballs for five dollars as well. The bread that came out before any of the other food was kind of warm and that would set a tone for the evening. When the meatballs arrived, they had a tiny bit of heat to them, but were lukewarm and the sauce they were in was cold. That was a little bit disappointing to be honest. The atmosphere in this restaurant is magnificent! It’s right out of the 70s and just super cool. I love ham and bean soup and that was the soup du jour. It was very hot and lovely. It was a little bit thinner than any of us expected, but the flavor was nice. Our delightful server brought me Tabasco for the soup. Curiously, it was not served with a soup spoon, but a very tiny teaspoon and it took me forever to eat the soup. But even with that, it was still hot at the end. My wife got the house salad with Italian dressing, which she liked very much. We shared the lasagna with meat sauce, and I didn’t taste a lot of meat in the sauce. Also, the lower part of the lasagna was hot, but the top half of it was not. Very curious. The flavor of the lasagna was marvelous and the sauce was a little sweet and quite good. We were just so disappointed that several of the items at the table came from the kitchen cold. This is a great restaurant, a lovely family place and clearly very popular but they have to do better at serving people hot food. If everything had come out at a proper temperature, this would be a five star review. The food was good, but cold.

S
Stefanie

Been hearing about how good the Sunday chicken is so we finally tried this place. The bread and butter they served was soft and delicious. We ordered 8 pc chicken and the lasagna. Took about 30 min to come out, know it takes time for the chicken to cook but why was the lasagna COLD?! But I don’t think it mattered anyway, neither my husband or I cared for the taste, a little too sweet for our liking. The chicken was served hot and crispy. It was good but don’t think it’s the best in the city like I’ve heard some say.

H
Heather S.

They had gluten free noodles, which was nice, but there's nothing really special about the food. The service was lack luster, and sporadic. Then the bathrooms were just gross. Sticky floors and grime. Just not good. Will not be back.

M
Michelle R. Jacobson

I’m only giving it four stars because the stuffed artichoke I had wasn’t very good. It was super watery. But I went back a few times after that and had the fried ravioli and their version of spaghetti and it was delicious ❤️ PLUS they call you sweet heart and darling and that can put a smile on anyone’s face. The staff is super amazing and the girl with the curly hair was exemplary in service. Will be back soon!

S
SHANN GUNTER

The food was good and fresh but the Sugo is so very sweet that we couldn't really savor the Veal or the Meatball or the Ravioli it just overpowered everything with sweetness. I personally like a more tomato and garlic

K
KeyAviation

The people there are very friendly, however food was awful I’m sorry you guys where very kind and service was good but I got the Lasagna and I couldn’t even eat more then 2 bits it was so awful it tasted as if it was old and as if someone put a cup of sugar in it to make it not taste so sour. I got home and had really bad food poising definitely a disappointment the food doesn’t look like any of the photos I saw on google it’s as if they made budget cuts to their quality and still charged high end prices. Place was pretty dead only like 2 tables filled.

A
Aliyah

Staff was friendly. The salad was just lettuce. Nothing else. The pasta tastes soggy and flavorless covered in oil . Shrimp was good but that’s the only thing that gave this meal even a dime of flavor. We got it sealed fresh. Was really hoping for an authentic Italian restaurant for a dish to be $29+. Olive Garden would have been better. You can tell the owner does not care about quality either as the replies to their customers, they seem to think they are the only right ones.

S
Silvia galvan

Service and ambiance were great, but the food wasn't up to par. First off, the bread and butter was like a joke. The bread tasted store bought. I expected like a nice fresh oven baked bread. The dishes we chose were the chicken parmesan and ravioli with meatball. Chicken parmesan didn't have much flavor. The cheese on top of the chicken was hard and probably melted in the microwave, which is how it tasted and felt. The ravioli and meatball weren't that great. The sauce was very sweet. I felt like I was eating ketchup with pasta. The single meatball was bland, no flavor. The side salads that came with our meals was honestly a joke. The presentation wasn't there. The best thing at dinner was the peach sangría. This wasn't my first time here, but it will be my last.

C
Cyndi 1234

What a joke! If I could rate negative stars, I would. Person at host stand extremely lazy as he couldn't be bothered to seat us for our reservation. Instead we waited for someone to come from the back to seat us. Sat at table for 15 minutes without any server even acknowledging us. Couple seated 10 minutes after us were greeted by server with their order being taken within 5 minutes of being seated. We got up and left as clearly this was an indication of the horrible service. Not too disappointed though as reviews of their food are mixed. Were interested in trying for restaurant week, but we will not give it another try as there are many other good restaurants in KC that will appreciate our business. So sad.

R
Richard Gunter

After over 40 years of eating at Anthony’s I never thought I would be giving them a terrible review. Ordered the Chicken Angelo. And unlike before when they served it with real grilled chicken,it’s now pieces of chicken that are about a quarter inch cubed. Straight out of a bag from probably Costco I’m guessing. Sorry Anthony, but you lost me and my family. If I want cheap Italian food, I’ll go to fazollies and not get ripped off.

J
Jordan Earwood

If I could rate with no stars, wouldn’t get a star but needing a star to review. Anthony’s was awful other than our server. I felt bad for her. The food was horrible. We ordered a fried artichoke and it wasn’t cooked all the way. We had ordered chicken Parmesan and lasagna with meat ball both meals flavorless. The lasagna with meatball tasted like great value and no flavor the meat ball tasted like it came out of a bag. The chicken Parmesan was horrible, with no taste like it was warmed up in the microwave. The sauce on both meals tasted like it came out of a can. The only good thing about our meal was the water. Spent $100 on flavorless food. After we left and told a couple of our family members where we went they couldn’t believe it told us they couldn’t believe they were still in business! If you want authentic Italian food please go somewhere else!
