We have had delicious food on multiple occasions at Jay Street Bistro. My friend has Celiac disease-which means she can’t have gluten. We have been able to have lunch there on several occasions. Ed (manager/waiter) was very attentive and super nice, friendly and helpful in making sure we got the correct food. All of the staff we interacted with was very nice. Things were so delicious that I brought my husband and grandson back for breakfast the following day.
Good food, excellent service and the best place in town to sit outside on a nice day, enjoying a meal and live music from across the street
We received excellent service from everyone that worked brunch today- hostess, waitress, and every other employee that we interacted with. Everyone really seemed to care about our experience. When you have kids it isn’t easy to find a place that makes everyone happy but this one did (especially with a young vegetarian!). And it’s especially nice that they have so much outdoor seating. We look forward to coming back soon!
This is such a great place!! My wife and I go frequently throughout the year. We love especially when it is warmer and we are able to eat outside. The setting is amazing in a quaint little town setting right across from the Metro-North Kathonah station. The staff is very friendly and they have a very nice assortment of food. You will definitely enjoy this place and the food prices are quite good. Enjoy!!
LOVE this place! It’s my favorite local go-to place to eat!!!! Perfect lunch/brunch spot that is ALWAYS delicious no matter what you order! And consistently great every single time we go!!! And the staff are always so nice! Bonus that they are very kid friendly and always happy to accommodate my “rush order of French fries for my toddler . So happy they are now open for dinner too! Definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Wonderful aesthetic and very clean. Bright. Delicious drinks, oth cold and hot. Blueberry pancakes were a treat (and came with ample real maple syrup--always a plus). Avocado toast was remarked to be wonderful. Friendly staff. Was busy, so a bit of a wait to order, but experience wasn't diminished. Might recommend fresh potatoes for hash browns versus frozen ones, but overall, terrific experience.
I went to Jay Street multiple times and the servers/staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. As someone who’s gluten free, the servers have always been so helpful and knew what what they were talking about. The other day there were a lot of bees swarming at my food and they moved me and swatted the bees away when they saw that I was stressed: The wait time was fair and I would strongly recommend eating here! The location is also really convenient.
Excellent food- good quality and moderately sized portions. Very busy on weekends- avoid if you are in a hurry! But if you are in the mood for a leisurely brunch, I highly recommend it. They are also great for afternoon cocktails during the week (they close at 4p but were willing to let us hang out on a Friday with drinks while they closed up). Very glad to have a place like this in Katonah!
Over the course of my life, I've seen no less than five iterations of a diner in this space. This one is by far the best. Awesome staff, chill vibes, and fantastic brewed beverage options of all kinds. Very much enjoyed the dirty horchata, and seeing our Brooklyn neighborhood roaster City of Saints in the homeland. Did I mention the food was great?
First time in here and I was delighted with the service, food was good and is a beautiful place. The server was really nice with our baby 5 more stars to him
Visited Katonah on a gorgeous August Saturday and this was our first stop. Clean venue, attentive staff/service. I had the smoked salmon breakfast and my husband, the Perfect plate. Both were perfectly presented 😊, tasted great and not too large or small. Just right! We will be back!
Amazing space, vibe, and service! The food is delicious and the servers were really cool!
Staff was incredible, food was delicious (3 people in our party and everything was perfect). Only thing was a bit cramped inside cause of how popular the place is, but that doesn't warrant taking a star away. Overall a great breakfast spot for katonah
The food, the service, and the atmosphere are out of this world!!! Will come again, definitely an incredible find. This place is a gem... And that French Toast A+++
Food was great….. service was a little shoddy and slow…… atmosphere special
Had a perfect lentil-quinoa bowl with Cajun spice grilled shrimp at one of Jay Street Cafe's outdoor tables today. Husband also enjoyed his Mexican style dish with crumbled chorizo. Friendly, accommodating staff, great spot at the corner of two main village streets and creative menu guarantee our return, and soon.
This place was busy, but the wonderful staff kept everything running smoothly. Cute decor inside. Lots of outdoor seating with lovely views. The service was great, and the food was fantastic!!
This place is wonderful for breakfast, brunch and lunch. The food is amazing, coffee is really good and the staff are great at their job. I am a regular. Try the corn bread French toast! Hope they open for dinner soon!
Came for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It was delightful busy, but we were able to get a table without a wait. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Service was just a tad slow, but it was rather busy, and the staff did a great job working together and keeping everything moving. The Cornbread French Toast was wonderful, will definitely order that again the next time I'm in town. The iced mocha latte was served in very cute glassware, and was refreshing on a humid summer morning. We'll definitely be back.
One of my favorite places ever. That cornbread French toast with their syrup is amazing. Their French fries are thin and salty. The environment, the town it’s in, the food, everything is so worth going
Stopped by for breakfast before a big hike. This is one of the few places open at 8am in the area. Good menu options, decent prices, & attentive service. Only item I wish was better was their coffee.
Over the weekend I visited Jay Street Bistro to meet my family for lunch. It was an excellent brunch that was served. I got the eggs and hash and it was delicious!
Friendly and professional wait staff and delicious food. I enjoyed the smoked salmon on multigrain toast with horseradish cream cheese; my friend had avocado toast with feta and pickled onions.
Their fish and chips is really good!
Don't let the name of this place fool you, as it's a legitimate restaurant. We came in the afternoon right as they were about to switch from their brunch to dinner menu. The interior has a very chic vibe to - high ceilings, modern decor, nice light fixtures and even a dining counter. The staff was very pleasant and allowed us to squeeze in our brunch order before they changed to their dinner offerings. They have outdoor seating as well. The menu is simple and pretty straightforward and has a nice balance of variety without offering too much. My reuben sandwich was excellent. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.
The best breakfast option in Katonah and beyond! THE BEST breakfast potatoes and the cornbread French toast is amazing! All the staff are personable and accommodating. Jay Street can’t be beat for breakfast!😋
Nice place conveniently located opposite the train station. Small but varied menu. Nice selection of healthy options with flair such as the passion fruit puree in the yogurt bowl! Staff was friendly and attentive.
Highly impressed with the fried chicken sandwich I got. It was MASSIVE, yet remained crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. A lil messy but the wife and I agreed that it was a great choice. Side salad was ok. Could've used more dressing. (And we weren't even planning on coming here! Was gonna check out the Whitlock but their kitchen was closed. Twas a low key blessing)

Unassuming restaurant but boy did they not disappoint! I started with a chai latte which was ummmmm good. Then, I had an egg sandwich which was so delicious and hubby had the pancakes which he shared with me and they are the best pancakes I have had in years! The service was friendly and attentive as well. I don't know why this spot is not in the top 3 in this area on Google search?? The locals must love it. Even though we live in Greenwich, WE WILL BE BACK!!
The charming restaurants in this lovely town offered a fantastic experience, particularly the BLT served on sourdough bread. While the chicken sandwich was satisfactory, personal preference might favor chicken breast over thighs. Despite the high volume of customers, the staff demonstrated exceptional efficiency and provided excellent service.
Very good food. Had great service even though it was busy and we were seated right away. Several waiters and waitresses came to check on us throughout the meal and were all friendly.
Amazing!!!! It’s one of the few words to describe Jay Street Cafe. It’s such a wonderful place to dine at. That’s why we go often even though it’s bit of a drive for us. The ambiance is lovely, food is scrumptious with a great variety especially if you need gluten free options, prices are reasonable and the service is wonderful! The staff is friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and thoughtful. Jamie is exceptionally a fabulous employee who always makes us feel at home and welcomes us with his warm smile and kindness. You will not be disappointed, give them a try! :)

We used to go to this location quite regularly before it became Jay Street Cafe and loved the food ! We gave it another shot the other day. Service was good. I had the falafel burger- and enjoyed every morsel ‼️ my dining companions ordered a burger and pancakes. Pancakes were standard. Burger had a charred exterior with a burnt taste. It was not good/enjoyable. My companion could not eat it. I agree with other reviewers regarding prices. They are a bit high. I plan to return - for now - as I enjoyed the falafel burger very much - despite the price
Oct 2021, Could not sit outside due to the Bees buzzing around the tables, however the Hostess told us before being seated outside about the Bees, so we opted to sit inside. We sat in the back by the window, counter style overlooking the street. Before being seated by the window we asked the Hostess to switch out the barstool that had "no back” for the barstool with a back or else we would have to walk out and go to a different restaurant. How does anyone enjoy their meal sitting on a chair without a back, this is not very comfortable for the customer - word to the owner of the restaurant please! switch out the “ no back” barstools for ones with backs. Now for the breakfast that was delicious - we shared the Pancakes (3) and Perfect Plate (eggs, bacon, toast, hash brown). Pancakes we light and airy and large, we really couldn’t eat the 3rd pancake, so we took it home. Also, the service was fast and staff friendly. The coffee in my opinion was a little too strong for my liking, so only had one cup, my friend ordered a chocolate egg cream soda that she enjoyed. All and all this is a great place for breakfast and lunch, but until the Bee problem outside is handled you will need to sit inside, not unless you can stand the bees buzzing around your table. But, breakfast here is not cheap, we walk out spending over $30.
Popped in for a late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday afternoon and we had no problem getting a table inside with good air conditioning on a hot late spring day. We had a friendly and efficient waiter. Our appetizers which we shared, the tuna tartare, and the chicken quesadilla, were both excellent. Two of us had the cheeseburger and we both asked for it to be done medium rare and unfortunately they came out well done. Disappointing. We were all too hungry too complain and/or send them back so we ate them as they were delivered. One person had the corn beef Reuben, which he enjoyed. Forgot to take pictures of the menu or the interior of the restaurant, but they did have a list of milkshakes which were very tempting, but we were too full to indulge.
Staff was great and the food was good. A bit pricey but good. I’d never had cornbread French toast, interesting but not something I’d try again.

Cute spot but don’t get the lentil bowl unless you want to eat a flavorless unseasoned bowl
Sadly, the luncheonette that used to be here had better food and lower prices. However, this redo looks nice, the service is caring and professional, and some dishes are tasty. A breakfast sammie was excellent. My companion's French fries were undercooked and not at all crisp. With a bit more effort, I am betting that the food could better.
I recently stopped by Jay Street Bistro in Katonah for a quick bite and ordered the Lentil Bowl Salad. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the dish. The overwhelming amount of sunflower seeds and dry lentils made it feel more like bird food than a satisfying meal. Although the server offered additional dressing, the tahini-based option provided was excessively thick and did little to improve the salad’s dryness. To enhance this dish, I suggest better balancing the ingredients, perhaps by mixing them more evenly and incorporating juicy elements like tomatoes. At $17, the salad felt overpriced, especially considering I could have purchased a bag of bird food for the same price.
I love a good small-scale breakfast place. This was a miss. We had breakfast there last week and most likely won't be back. The ambience is very cute but that's were it pretty much ends. Coffee (watery and luke-warm at best) came without a spoon. Trying to get a server's attention proved difficult. We ended up having to get up and get our own spoon from the gaggle of servers milling around the server station. We also had a cappuccino which apparently comes with a fairly large dose of cinnamon - which was not listed. And without spoons, we couldn't take it off... We had the Smoked Salmon Toast which was thick bread (nice), a thick slather of Horseradish cream cheese (emphasis on the horseradish), a slice of salmon and a good handful of capers. I love capers as much as the next person but they were definitely the main attraction on the toast. The Egg Sandwich on the brioche was decent except for the way too crispy bacon. We also had the Stuffed Croissant - it's full of Nutella - so that was great. We were not checked on after having gotten the food. We did comment on it when we got our bill and the response was tepid at best. Overall, a bit disappointing - the menu looked good and could have been great. Maybe we got an off day...

The 5 star reviews are definitely surprising. The hash browns are exactly the same as you would get at McDonald's but actually more greasy. The Sammie must be about 2,000 unnecessary calories because of the overuse of aioli and butter. Our young server lacked enthusiasm & was forgettable and inattentive. Eggs overcooked 🤷♀️
The food is pretty good. Staff overall is nice, however the service is extremely slow. The waitstaff though they are nice, are mostly inattentive. You wait forever for a table, but it’s because the service is so extremely slow. If you don’t have a lot of time to waste, I’d recommend going elsewhere.
Use to come here before it became the ‘cafe’ it is now & enjoyed meeting friends or taking family for great meals-very home town feeling. But, now it’s not like that so much. Met friends for Dinner. The Tempura stringbeans were very oily/greasy; the soy based sauce super salty… we couldn’t eat them. The BBQ plate was not much better. Pulled Pork and cole slaw was OK but Fries were cold & oily. The worst part of this dish is the cornbread! Thin, dry and oily…too inedible. Dinner for two was $100 (two entrees, one app, two beers) which is costly for a disappointing meal. Service was good though :/
This review is for a new item on their menu- the taco salad. I was highly disappointed. It was very bland and a strange eating experience. It’s a fried tortilla topped with romaine lettuce, roasted corn, grape tomatoes, black beans, cucumber, avocado, red onion, and ranch dressing. Despite all these ingredients, it lacked flavor. I paid $19 for it. Adding chicken or shrimp was extra. For that amount I expect more. It wasn’t filling. It’s strange to me to serve a salad atop something deep fried. I’m trying to eat healthy, thus the salad. I cracked the tortilla with my fork as I ate and I added very little to the meal for taste. At least serve it with chipotle ranch for some flavor. This seems like a really poor attempt at Mexican flavor. Please bring back the BBQ Chicken Salad!

If I could give them zero stars, I would, because I literally received zero service. I had my service dog with me and we sat outside on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at lunch time. I waited a very long time and eventually someone brought me a menu. Then, I waited and waited and waited. They served people next to me, behind me and to the other side of me, but somehow managed to just walk past me. After about a half hour total time, we just left. The waiter was a young white kid. He saw me. There was a Hispanic waitress. She saw me. There was a blond hostess. She saw me. It was unbelievable. If you are reading this, thinking that perhaps I am some street bum or an undesirable...no...I am a 69 year old man, clean, well-dressed and proper. It wasn't me. It was sheer insulting incompetence.
Servers tried, there were only 3 working during a lunch rush. The food was bad. Just bad. Corned beef had no flavor except for a bad aftertaste. Same with blt. Both sandwiches were extremely dry. Fries were cold. I can’t really understand how it was all so bad. They were very basic sandwiches. Hard to screw up I thought.
The owner(I think owner)refused to let me sit at an open table on the chance that someone else might come in and need a seat. I am(was) a fairly regular customer that comes 1-2 times a week to do work for about 2 hours in the cafe and I always order food and leave a good tip. She gave me the choice between the add-on counter by the bathroom that wasn’t large enough for my laptop or to sit in between two completely full tables to the point where our shoulders would have been touching. I asked if I could sit in an open table away from the crowded booth and she said no. The tables are also the kind of tables that can be separated and moved around if another customer did need the seat. I have never EVER left a negative review about a restaurant before but I’ve ignored the owner’s inhospitable behavior for months now because the place is convenient. The second your food is done she expects you out the door and leaves the check immediately without asking if you want anything else. I assume this is because I dine alone. I am very aware of the fact that as a solo diner Im taking up more space than necessary but there has not been a single instance where people did not have somewhere to sit because of me. The rest of the staff is very nice but the owner is an overbearing negative presence that makes me feel like I’m not wanted in her cafe. Also, complaining inside about customers while they’re dining outside isn’t a good look.
