We took the opportunity to sit down at Lo Riondet after we travelled to a nearby Lake on a group Holiday, the view is great and the establishment itself looks very cozy and open. You have a free drinking fountain to fill up your bottles for the way back as well. We had a great time, the service was quick and helpful and while we had a bit of a language barrier, coming from Germany, they made sure we enjoyed our stay. There was a slight miscommunication about a vegan option where we got the cheese version by accident but that was not only quickly resolved but they were also extremely nice and apologetic which felt sincere and made the stay that much nicer for all of us. The food was great, came within 15 minutes of ordering for all 7 of us and had a really healthy portion size. None of us left hungry, that's for sure. They even made sure that our dog was offered water multiple times. We had an amazing time and if the opportunity arises to come back here I will certainly take a detour to sit down for another happy memory. Many thanks to all the staff and the extra effort to make our stay such a great experience.
Delicious local polenta and chamois dish. Busy day, but we'd booked one of the outside cabins so all good.
We had seen the restaurant on our way to the Col du Petit St Bernard, luckily they had a table on our way back down. Sunshine, excellent service, all the local specialties on the menu, what's not to like! Polenta never tasted so good and the gelato was to die for.
Every 2 or 3 years we visit La Thuile mainly because of this restaurant on the slopes. It's worth the long flat number 6 run to get here. The atmosphere is cosy and alpine, though we also loved the new glass extension which we sat in today. The food is amazing and truly representative of northern italian cuisine. The service is always lovely. Today I had the polenta with ratatouille (as a vegetarian and had multiple options to choose from-there is even vegan options) the polenta was rich and creamy, covered in cheese, the ratatouille was tomatoey with lots of flavoursome veg. The meat eaters on the table shared the meat platter with polenta, and loved the varied meats. Advice points: i suggest booking (not necessary at all) but it can get busy, leave central La Thuile ski area with 30 minutes to make it as the run to the restaurant is long.
We had the most memorable time here. This place is just magic and the whole experience with the snow cat was absolutely awesome. Maria Elena, Alessandro and the mum are very welcoming and make you feel at home, cuddled and leave your palate delighted with the top quality food and locally sourced ingredients. If you’re in La Thuile you can’t miss out on one of the best experiences you can have. Thanks we’ll definitely be back!
Wow, the best Alpine mountain restaurant we’ve ever visited! Well worth the long journey down the 7. Legs aching and stomachs rumbling we were greeted by the friendly third generation huntress. The characterful interior and authentic local food (wild game and fondue Fontina) were just what we needed. Highly, highly recommended. Also don’t miss the extraordinary ice sculpture outside!
The best polenta in The alps , bar none … and believe me , I’ve tried them all . Great place . Can get busy , but well worth the trip
At a loss for words to describe just how good this meal was. The experience in itself - being taken up to the restaurant via snowcat, and back down in a piste basher - is well worth it; add in one of…
We stopped a couple of times, ate on the terrace in the sunshine and inside when it was cloudy. Delicious food - local specialties eg polenta with different toppings. A reasonable number of vegetar…
Top of the top.. we Ve been here with my bf this summer and oh my god!! This was just breath taking! Amazing food, crazy mountain and super lovely people! They even offer as something called jenepy…
Beautiful location, lots of outside seating during the summer. Ordering drinks was less easy (one person working very hard in a small cubicle, as inside only takes orders for the restaurant). Washroom was clean, with good facilities for parents. Really, the location is everything, and this place is worth visiting simply for the view.
The location is super cute, the food very good, but unfortunately the service was not up to standards with the rest. Extremely slow, had to remind the waitresses various times to bring certain things and always had to wave them down whenever we needed something. They were kind, but really forgetful and inexperienced. If the service is improved, this place can easily reach the 5 stars.
The restaurant looks great from the outside and cozy from the inside. But the food wasn't great at all and so was the service. We had the pasta and believe it or not, it was totally soggy and overcooked. Incredible for Italy, the pasta country. We came as part of a group and one person wasn't eating but they still charged the full price to that person. The food is expensive and doesn't hold up to the quality. The wine is overpriced as well. We will not return to Lo Riondet.
Greasy, heavy, … some dishes too salty and other no flavor at all. 5 different dishes and a complete (and may be our first) disappointment for Italy. Service was good but Thant’s about it. Go down to the valley in la Thuile, it will be cheaper and way better.
