Amazing food botana 5 de mayo are my favorite and pescado al mojo de ajo my go to Drinks are La Fresona and any flavored margarita🍹🍷atmosphere is amazing shout out to waiters Andrea, Isiely & Antonella always delivering amazing costumer service. Don’t skip on Karaoke 🎤 nights on Saturdays are always fun 🎉
I’d give atmosphere 10 stars if I could. Same with the food. We found this place purely by accident. It’s an hour from our home but we plan to return. The taco salad was tasty and flavorful. Their balsamic dressing is homemade and has a wonderful kick and nice flavor. Don’t be deceived by the outside. It looks like a regular restaurant. When you step inside? It’s like a mural gallery with amazing food. The service was also good and very friendly. This place is definitely a 10
The moment my family and I walked in, we felt like we entered a truly authentic Mexican restaurant. It most definitely did not disappoint. Very good food and wonderful customer service. Thanks for a great experience.
The music was excellent and the manager was an excellent person. I see myself coming here multiple times a week! Recommended for anyone who likes high quality food, a sense of style and likes to experience culture from a neighboring country.
Just celebrated my birthday at El Zapata 3. Had around 20 people at my table. The food was fantastic and came out in a timely manner. Music was being played with the option of karaoke. Above all the service was the highlight. Throughout the night we constantly and consistently being taken care of any needs. Will be back!
Best Mexican around. Definitely can’t wait yo come back
El Zapata Restaurant was beautiful, clean and the food was DELICIOUS!!!! Everything we had was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! And our waitress was EXCELLENT!!! I believe her name was Dara!!! She was very informative, very sweet, attentive and professional!! Beyond amazing customer service!!! 💯 We will definitely go back!!!
Attentive service with delicious food! Seasoned meats, delicious sauces, El Zapata is the place to get your Mexican cuisine fix. Ask about the El Gobernador Taco (the governor) Thank you to the waitstaff for being so hospitable!
I really like the vegetarian chimichangas. Actually, they were one of the best vegetarian dishes I've had at a Mexican restaurant. I am excited to go back and try one of their crazy cocktails.
Found this gem by typing in “best Mexican food near me.” Honestly, Google did not lie. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by both Andrea and Mary. I was torn between who I should talk to. The food was amazing! Literally amazing and reasonably priced. Don’t get me started on the margaritas. I had a frozen passion fruit margarita, and I’m not typically a drinker, but today was that day. I loved it. I happy danced the entire time I ate. Andrea was our server. She is really attentive and sweet. I didn’t even know who made our drinks until Mary walked up to us and asked us personally how the drinks were. I felt so catered to. You can feel the love there, so much culture, and authenticity. I only know their names because I asked and could not leave without wanting to put a good word out. It is unfortunate that they are in the cut of the plaza, which makes it hard for anyone to see. I really hope people see this review and the reviews they have , which are amazing and share what a wonderful place this is.
Zapata 3 is amazing! Food, drinks, service, atmosphere are the best! Mari and Aurora are the best! We got to see the most amazing drinks made. Michi shot, La Chorola feliz are really amazing drinks! Seafood with beer! Nothing better! Their margaritas are off the charts superb! They have margarita flights! 😳Awesome! You will not be disappointed visiting El Zapata 3restaurant. Enjoy 😉
The food was amazing, the prices are affordable! But the service. The service was worthy of 5 stars 5 fold! Inside is beautiful and the owners know exactly how to make each customer special! Recommend 10/10 if you are taking the trip to LEGO land or the castle! 💯💯
This place is the best Mexican Resturant I've ever been too, and I've been to a lot. Big place, big bar, great atmosphere, and super friendly down to earth staff. Definitely a hidden gem, the place is never too busy but it's so good that it should be packed at all hours. I've been working at West Point, and I'm from out of town, so happy I found this place, walking distance from my hotel. The food is so authentic, awesome drinks, giant (and super strong) Margs and Cheladas, and some super cool variations of drinks with lots of cool toppings. The bartender "G" will take take awesome care of you (and the girls that have served me were stellar as well), ask G about his brothers home made Mescal, better than anything you could ever buy off the shelf! And take his word about how good their house tequila is. Also, tuesday is $1.50 taco night, tons of delicous choices. I believe drinks are half off too on taco tuesday! Anybody who has had a poor experience here must of been a stroke of bad luck, and I highly urge them to give it another shot! Can't say enough good things!
Located in Chester NY, Exit 126; one exit away from Legoland (Exit 125), 3.9 miles, roughly 7 minutes away. A wonderful family owned Mexican restaurant. My birthday was celebrated with my family, party of six and we ordered the “Mamalona” which is a volcanic shaped truck molcajete with grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, cambray onions, cactus, cheese, green salsa, and your choice of either flour or corn tortillas, all sizzling to your table. We also ordered, enchiladas suizas, torta de bistec, chile relleno de queso, pozole, tacos de pollo (pechuga) , agua de horchata, frozen margaritas (con sal). Gerardo, the bartender surprised me with “El Balazo” a black wooden bull with lighted tequila shot holders, tequila served from a long glass rifle replica with freshly squeezed lime, and Squirt, a sparkler on my cake slice (tiramisu), a Mexican sombrero with karaoke song. It was a great celebration! The food was delicious and the service was great. Even though it was busy, Andrea, our server, kept coming by to make sure we were good. Highly recommended!!

Best Mexican around. Definitely can’t wait yo come back
My first time coming, and I highly recommend for everyone to give it a try. Even if you're not into Mexican food the hospitality the decor and the cleanliness is worth coming for. You can sense the humbleness of the staff and their goal of a customer walking out happy. Inside is very authentic. The art was brought to life and you felt like you traveled to another country when you're just 20 minutes away from home. All of the staff attended to the customers. There was no just one waiter for each table. They all took care of each other. You can sense the strong bond between the employees. And the best part the food. Many Mexican places I've tried, food tastes microwaved and processed. El Zapata's tasted fresh and well cooked. I can also say I'm very picky about water, and even their water didn't taste like sewer tap water. All of the employees were very pleasant, shared a smile and the experience well worth coming back to. Even the owner was very humble and accommodating. Our main server was Jesus, very positively radiating soul. You can see he cares about his work environment and customer satisfaction. We were ready to pay our bill and he convinced us to get dessert and it was to perfection. We got Tres Leche. It wasn't to soggy, but still creamy enough and certainly tasty. I also couldn't help but notice how well dressed and clean the staff was. Those required to be in their uniforms looked up to par and the rest without the uniform also look presentable and proud to be where they work. Little side note, their bar is designed unique and super cute spot to go on a low key date.
The food at El Zapata is delicious! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve eaten at on the east coast. The el pastor tacos are authentic, margaritas not made with a mix and the salsa is fresh. This would be a great place for a group as well as a fun bar scene. Highly recommend this restaurant.
This is the best Mexican restaurant in Orange county, by a long shot. My family and I have tried literally dozens of Mexican restaurants in the area when celebrating Taco Tuesday, and El Zapata wins hands down. The environment is beautifully authentic, the food is top notch, and the margaritas are second to none. The staff is warm, welcoming, and made us feel like regulars on our second visit. We went 5 days before our wedding and were treated like royalty! 10/10 recommend the gun shots!!
The service is amazing. The food is amazing. The staff is extremely friendly. Best Mexican food in Orange County.
Wow! This was some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. My son said it was the best burrito he ever had. My husband was blown away at how delicious his dinner was. Aside from a perfect dinner, the cleanliness was above and beyond my expectations, which are quite high. They thoroughly cleaned after a party left and did it so quickly and thoroughly. If we lived closer I'd be back often. I HIGHLY recommend. 10 minutes from Legoland.
aurora and g are always the most welcoming, kind, helpful, sociable and amazing workers you could ask for! they always have the best attitude and the best service! the food is amazing, along with the atmosphere, it is always a great time when i stop over here! it’s truly a hidden gem, right down in between t mobile and chris’ bistro in the quick way plaza!
Fantastic food selection, great service, LOVE the decor and atmosphere. Totally perfect. We were all wowed. Get the guacamole!
I’ve been to many Mexican restaurants around the US and this one makes my top list . The food and ambiance all top tier . The customer service is phenomenal ⭐️ and food 🥘 as well. I love the energy in this place and hope to visit again soon!! Música 🎧 with a DJ was A+++ too . awesome place!! 🤩
This place is amazing, fantastic service, friendly staff and team. I had been here twice now and the food is excellent. Fresh and so tasty. I had the steak and shrimp with the cream sauce which is an all time favorite of mine. I also had the red snapper so good. Drinks are so good and very large. Highly recommend this is my new favorite restaurant
The food was soooooo good! Close to our hotel so my husband and I could walk and didn’t need to fight over which of us would drive. They were very busy so the food was a bit slow, but the waitress warned us up front. I had the pollo compesino and it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I absolutely love Mexican food, I am not Mexican myself but love it, and wish this was closer to my home in the Midwest. 11/10, I would absolutely recommend a trip here.
I was there recently with friends from Europe. It was a great choice! The food, the atmosphere, the live music, and very social & fun staff! We were in town to go to Legoland the next day; this Mexican restaurant was a short walk from our hotel.
We love this place! Reasonable prices, great food and drinks. Service is always good and quick!
This has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in this area. Everything is fresh and authentic, and the menu is fairly expansive across several regional dishes. There’s sometimes hiccups with service where plates come with half of what they should have, but they’re quick to fix it and very kind. On music nights it’s excessively loud but at the same time pretty fun to engage in as long as you’re prepared for it.
This place was recommended by a friend. My wife and I love Mexican food (we lived in Texas for awhile). We love to try different Mexican restaurants. We were so blown away by the food & atmosphere, as well as the excellent service we received!! Highly recommend this place!! Thank you and we will definitely be back!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our visit to El Zapata III was absolutely wonderful! The food was incredibly delicious, especially the Botana 5 de Mayo, Mojarra Al Mojo de Ajo Enchilada Delicious. Andrea, our waitress, provided exceptional service with a warm smile throughout. Gerardo, the restaurant manager & owner, ensured everything ran smoothly and even treated us to fun shots called balasos towards the end of our meal! Don't miss their lively karaoke nights on Saturdays for extra enjoyment. Highly recommended for a great dining experience with a fantastic atmosphere!
My family and I really enjoyed this place. The food was so good as well as the staff. Waitress was timely and very welcoming. Their Margarita Flight was delicious. The owner is also very welcoming. Definitely going to keep going back!!
My experience was amazing this place is so positive and lively it has beautiful paintings on the walls and the employee Gerardo is so nice he gave my kids chocolate milk by grabbing some chocolate milk and putting chocolate sauce in the milk he was so nice I will definitely come back again.
I loved everything about my dinner experience. The food, the atmosphere, decorations, drinks, and the staff!! This is the first place in all of any of the tri-state that has the most authentic Mexican food. Hands down my favorite spot! I will travel the 45 minutes each way any time!! Also the bartender makes amazing drinks!
It was such a wonderful find for us. Kids enjoyed their enchiladas, tacos, and rice and beans. Burrito and bistek de Zapata were absolutely fantastic. My 1 yo enjoyed the steak and mushroom the most ;) The steak was nicely cooked. Seasoning was perfect. It was flavorful without being overwhelming in any way. The restaurant was clean, bright and colorful, and spacious. Restrooms were well maintained. The people who worked there were friendly, helpful, and professional. The entrance of the restaurant is between buildings and close to the back side. We'll be back for more! The price was great. Don't miss out!
I stopped at this restaurant couple of days back. It has a good Mexican vibe and the food was great. We ordered some chicken tacos and enchiladas. Their 3 leches cakes is a must try.
We had El Zapata cater our company lunch today and it was great. Food arrived on time, hot and delicious. We ordered for 15 people and there was plenty of food. Definitely will be ordering again. Thanks Aurora .
My friend recommended El Zapata when I was looking for a place to eat and listen to music in the Chester area. This is now my new favorite spot to eat. The service is amazing, very friendly and welcoming staff. The food is outstanding and the live music is a bonus. Geraldo the bar tender was great, very attentive and accommodating. The pina colada he prepared was so good. I am a new regular 😉. Come here if you want great food, you will not be disappointed.
Visiting from Maine. I searched for Mexican Food as I had left Legoland and I was starving. Stopped at Zapata N3 and this place was incredible. Got the Mexican feeling with the incredible wood carve furniture and art, great waitress and the food was incredible, excellent, homemade Mexican food. My son had tacos and the tortillas were handmade, yum. Definitely coming back!!!! Viva Zapata!!!
great food, friendly service. lots of vegetarian and a decent amount of vegan options!
The delicious food and the attention of the best honestly for being the first time I come to this place I drove 1 hour to get here and I am completely sure that I will return, MARY was very kind and attentive
my favorite place to come to on the weekend! amazing service and great vibes. highly recommend
I had the red snapper and it was phenomenal. I sat at the bar. The service was great. I will definitely be returning.
This is a hidden gem. We were looking for an alternative to Legoland resort for dinner and this did not disappoint. The interior is super cute and full of Mexican pride. We had a party of eight and service was flawless. Lots of great menu options for the vegetarians and kids in the group. Highly recommend the fajitas and mega quesadillas. The restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall but followed google directions to find it.
The food and drinks are delicious, The bartender Rolando is the best I was celebrating my birthday and he made sure to give me a birthday shot. They also have happy hour drinks on Thursday’s. The margaritas are delicious so is the food. They also have Karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays.
Great place! Awesome costumer service! Mari is a wonderful server. I really enjoy the food, the place and price. The employees make you feel welcomed! I had a great time with my husband! I’ll definitely go back with my family!! 🥰❤️❤️
Wow! We are so impressed with el Zapata!!! Craving Mexican and they delivered on that craving!!! Totally catered to my special requests and we had the most fulfilling and delicious Mexican meal at a reasonable price! The homemade tortillas are phenomenal and everything is so fresh! We will be back!!!
We're so happy to have a real mexican restaurant in the area! Everything they cook is delicious 😍. Someone recommended this restaurant 2 weeks ago and we have been there already 3 times! We have had the quesabirrias, posole, ceviche, tacos, slopes, caldo de res and everything is a 100!!! And the service, excellent! Update: This restaurant continues being the best with mexican food! And the service...we just went there to celebrate Mexican Independence with a delicious pozole :)
To start, the food is always amazing. It doesn’t matter what we order when we come. It is all delicious. The presentation of food is top notch as well. We are always greeted with staff who assure that we have a wonderful experience. We have come for a quiet dinner, celebrations with friends and just for a drink. The atmosphere is unique and fun. From drink to desert you will not be disappointed. 🌵🌮
Best birria tacos I have ever had. Bar tender super friendly, accomadating. Warm atmosphere and good vibes all around. 10/10 will be coming here again.
This is the best most autistic Mexican food I have ever had! They give you fresh chips and salsa which is delicious. We tried several things that the wonderfully friendly and attentive waitress recommended. The mega chicken quesadilla was enormous! More chicken and less cheese but way more than 2 kids could eat. The gorditas with the green sauce was my absolute favorite. We also had one of each taco and each really tasty but not cheesy like typical Mexican I have had in the past. For dessert we had the chirros with both vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Pictured is the quesadilla and chirros. The atmosphere was outstanding! Beautiful murals and authentic decorations. The artist who painted these had a great attention to detail. Very cool atmosphere down to unique tables and chairs. If you are visiting Legoland, eat local if you can. Every restaurant we visited was wonderful and a lot less of a wait time. The meals at the park are mediocre at best.
TRUE GEM. They’ve brought Mexico to us. Located in the back of a small strip mall (hard to find) this place serves up Authentic Mexican Food. The family owned restaurant cooks food in the Jalisco Mexico style. This area of Mexico is well known for their wonderful cuisine. Try their Excellent Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnita (uniquely Crispy AND Juicy) and Chorizo Tacos. And the service is Excellent. You can tell the owners have put a lot of thought into Everything. Even their cups are cool. What a gift our neighborhood has received. FREE Chips and salsa too. Tried a standard Margarita last night. Was a good drink for the price. I can’t wait until they develop a Top Shelf Margarita.
I’m a heavy reviewer and let me tell you, I have no idea why this restaurant has anything less than 5 stars. This is hidden in Chester. The bartender is a sweetheart, she makes the best margaritas, and the staff is amazing along with the food. I’ve been here twice in one week! if you’re into drinks come when Mary is bartending, she makes THE BEST DRINKS. I recommend anyone comes here, it’s a genuine Mexican restaurant and the food is delicious!
My husband and I stumbled upon this hidden gem while waiting for our grandson’s basketball game in Goshen, and wow what a find! From the moment we walked in, the bartender, Madi, greeted us with such warmth. She was crafting the most incredible drink, complete with shrimp on the rim, and I was instantly sold just by the presentation! We only had about 45 minutes, but the cozy ambiance made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding we ordered tacos and ceviche, and honestly, I didn’t think tacos could surprise me anymore, but these were truly amazing. A special shoutout to Madi: her friendliness, warm spirit, and impeccable customer service made our first visit unforgettable. Even though we couldn’t stay long, the menu has us excited to come back and explore more. Loved everything about this place do yourself a favor and check it out!
It's the real deal for top shelf Mexican food. I had the seafood dinner with garlic sauce. It was incredible! Everything stays deliciously hot throughout the meal. It is served in a special stone truck that holds the heat! The staff is very attentive and friendly. Pricing is reasonable, especially for what you get! I would highly recommend for a night out or a party! They will have you covered!

The place looks beautiful inside but I wish the food could be as nice. The food was good but not 5 star worthy. It was a bit underseasoned and felt just overcooked and soft ... if you're craving mexican its still a good place to visit but having eaten at many restaurants of this kind for me its just missed the mark. I've seen that they do have amazing drinks and heard people talking about them with excitement but unfortunately we have not had any as we were traveling back home quite far.

I enjoyed the food and inside has a good vibe. The bar setting is beautiful and the staff is nice.
This place was recently constructed. You would not see this place on the main road of brookside you have to go into the little mini mall it's right where the hot dog place used to be. Once we entered the entire room was filled with Spanish specifically Mexican paraphernalia. The color of the flag stood out, the tables was decorated with a high gloss finish of images of a man on some and images of others on different tables scattered out on the floor. At the bar they had a dragon figure that was very colorful I liked it actually. The waiter was a young man who took our order and did it precisely bought the food out exactly as it was ordered. No mistakes that's a good thing but as usual when something is brand new it's always clean it's always in order I just hope that they continue with this practice. Moving on to the bathroom I kind of find it to be a little weird how they did the decor to the bathroom. The floor tile is the tile that's on the wall I don't understand why someone would use the same tile for the counters and floor on the wall I mean texture and everything. But it is what it is it did not make the bathroom look very nice but to each his own. Now let's move on to the food. The only thing I can say about this is that the food did not come out extra hot where I'm experiencing steam coming up off the food. It didn't help to make the meal more enjoyable that it was lukewarm. I don't know how anybody else prefers their rice and beans but I prefer mine hot. So the tacos were good I would have prefer that they bought the tacos out and allowed me to set the food in between the tortilla shells but that's not how it was done as a result that also help to allow for the food to cool down. Perhaps looking forward you guys might want to do this. Because some people enjoy their food very hot. The food was great and taste the tacos were filling as well as the refried beans and rice. However there was an aftertaste from the refried beans I thought it was just my portion but when I asked my friend who died with me she also tasted the aftertaste. I don't know if it was just for today's batch or whether or not this is a normal. However it was like a smoky taste I don't know what that smokey taste is because I've been to Yucatan and I never experienced it I've been to different pueblos in Mexico and never tasted a smoky taste. So is it authentic I don't know if it's truly authentic the way they choose to cook. But never have I experienced a smoky taste. As a result of the Smoky taste refried beans I would give that in itself a one-star because it was different than what I'm used to. I like the decor of the place I like the settings and I wish you guys the very best moving forward. Here are some pictures of what I enjoyed.
We had bizarrely slow/bad service here tonight, especially considering the restaurant was practically empty (one other table of four and two people at the bar- both left pretty quickly after we arrived). The food was good but our waiter was just nowhere to be found for most of our time there. It took a really long time to place our order and even more time to get it. There were things missing from our order that I wanted to ask for but he never came back to check in after dropping off our food and then quickly running off. At one point I went looking for him to say we were done and ready for the bill and saw him standing in the kitchen chatting to people but couldn’t get his attention and didn’t want to walk into the kitchen. We were finished for a good 20 minutes with all of our plates stacked at the end of the table before he came out of the kitchen to ask if we wanted dessert- I very directly said we wanted the check and we’re ready to leave. He brought the check and as I was getting my wallet out he vanished again 😂 😭 we had no food or drink on the table and there was no reason for him to think we were wanting to hang out. He just never came back to run my card, so after ten minutes I went and stood at the counter before eventually shouting “excuse me” into the kitchen. All in all a slow and pretty frustrating experience where we felt fully forgotten. I wonder if when they’re busier and have more staff and tables maybe service is better? It was so slow there tonight and maybe he truly just kept forgetting there were customers in the restaurant? I guess I had high expectations considering all of the amazing reviews, but unfortunately our experience didn’t match.
I believe this establishment is buying their reviews, or having their friends/family fabricate them to bring them to a 4.9 rating. None of the 1 star reviews are showing in their average across all star ratings. Anyways, I came here the other night. It was simply “okay” and that’s why I am giving them 3 stars. My margarita was well done, although I was charged $1 for strawberry when it didn’t say there was an upcharge for flavored margaritas. For mojitos, yes, but it wasn’t clearly stated for margaritas. Further, our appetizer was not the best. We got a sample platter with some chimichanga’s, nachos, quesadillas, and guac. Everything was cold upon arrival except for the chimichangas. The guac had large unmashed avocado in it and it was clear that it was not fresh due to some brown spots. My entree was ok, I just wasn’t a fan of their refried beans. They were very watery. They should take notes on Hacienda’s refried beans up the road, they have the best I’ve ever had. All in all, the experience was just alright. I don’t think I’ll go back.
First the location was very hard to find for someone that doesn't know there are business's on the sides of the buildings in the strip mall. The overall esthetics are very pleasing! They did a super job decorating and setting the atmosphere! They have a spacious space with a full bar very nicely positioned off to the side of the tables. The menu has a nice selection to choose from. They offer dishes with seafood, chicken, beef and pork. These are all the good things! Unfortunately I can't say that the end result was wonderful! Too start the narrative we were the only customer in the entire 2 hours of being there! We were served on a beautiful plate that had several chips around the edges! It left for a question of whether they chips were in my food! I took a chance that they were not and that it was just a bit of neglect on the cooks side of not discharging the plate before use. I went on to diving into my food which was a very simple grilled chicken tostado. The presentation was pleasing but the taste was tasteless! There was no flavor at all! I had 3 bites and lost my appetite. My husband ordered a lobster, shrimp, scallop fish that was served on a very hot large what appeared to be cast iron truck plate. It was definitely a eye catcher. We even took a photo. Unfortunately we made it clear that we needed it to be carb and sugar free. Even additional said no rice or beans please give a side of guacamole instead. He dives in thinks it is a scallop and had a mouth full of potatoe! He looks a little further and it has more potatoes and carrots than anything else. So much for no carbs or sugar!!! After picking through to get only the shrimp because the scallops were unable to be identified with all the potatoes the flavors were wonderful. The lobster was half of a lobster. Portions looked large with this huge presentation. However the amount of seafood was minimal. There bulk of the meal was potatoes and carrots! Very disappointing! Also he had it with red sauce and you had to eat the plate with your hands! No wet wipes..no extra napkins!! He had to go to the restroom three times to wash his hands in between eating because it was so messy! Not very well thought out on the restaurants part! Any seafood serving restaurant gives wet wipes and plenty of extra napkins with seafood dishes! I'm not sure I would travel back 30 minutes again. We have several other options that we frequent and would give 5 stars to on their busiest day!!
The guacamole lacked flavor and I requested spicy, but lacked any heat. I did enjoy my red snapper with the garlic sauce but the picture on the website had tostones, but they don't serve them, said Google added that? My husband didn't enjoy his chicken fajita, it had an odd color and very bland. He did enjoy the Tamarindo drink.
I was excited to try this place and perhaps I just chose the wrong dish, but the fajitas were disappointing. The rice was average, the beans were watery. There was no cheese given except for a sprinkle on top of the rice. All the meat, peppers, onions, and for some reason mushrooms were mixed together. The meat was tough. Overall didn't taste bad, but also didn't blow me away. Very average. *Others in my party liked their food, allegedly the mole sauce was very good. I'd suggest something with that.

My husband wanted to try this place since it had such great reviews and since it's hard to find an actually good mexican restaurant in Orange County we decided to give it a try. UNFORTUNATELY it was a big disappointment just like i knew it would be. Why people are giving this such high ratings is beyond me. The servers are friendly and the place has your typical kitschy mexican decor. But I go to restaurants for the food and this place just wasn't good at all. I had a vegetarian dish that was extremely bland and was just a bunch of chopped up veggies thrown into a zucchini smothered with cheese, tasteless and regrettable. My husband had some tacos with rice and refried beans and also said the dish lacked flavor and salt. So I really don't understand how this place has such great reviews. In my opinion they must not be honest or maybe they had too many margaritas 🤔.

This is the third time and the last time my husband and I will dine here. My husband ordered steak in a special sauce. What he didn’t expect was that the special sauce was teriyaki and made with soy sauce . If we wanted Asian , we would have gone next door. He said the steak was okay but the special sauce was just too odd. I ordered chicken enchiladas in red sauce. The enchilada sauce was straight tomato sauce with absolutely no seasoning. It had an Italian feel to it and did not seem authentic. There was no Mexican seasoning and aside from the tomato sauce which tasted like it came straight out of a can, was quite bland. The music was blasting and we were the only diners in the restaurant and it was quite uncomfortable. Not a great experience at all.
chips and salsa were very tasty, thank goidnessService was slow even though restaurant was empty. Refried beans were not refined. Chicken fajitas were very bland with an odd sauce. Rice was cold and bland. Chimichangas were very dry. Had over half our meals still on the plate, did not take with us
A Fly in the Chips Was Just the Beginning. There was a dead fly in the chips. Not kidding. Just sitting there on top of a chip like it paid for the salsa. We pointed it out to the waitress and she said “oh yeah” and took it away. That’s it. No apology. No shock. Just a new basket like this was a totally normal thing that happens at this establishment. Then came my girlfriend’s chicken quesadilla, which was actually insane. The tortilla was undercooked — kind of cooked on the outside but raw in the middle. Some of the cheese was melted but had this hard plastic texture, and then there was another cheese that was crumbly and unmelted, all mixed in with the chicken. The chicken itself was tiny little cubes of slimy chicken that had clearly never seen a grill in their life. It was like the chicken had been boiled, bagged then microwaved. It had no flavor whatsoever. None. It was borderline inedible and she only was able to have a few bites. I ordered the birria tacos and they were just as tragic. Dry, flavorless, and the consomé that came with it was basically brown water. The rice and beans were fine, if you count “edible” as a compliment. When my girlfriend mentioned that her tortilla was undercooked, the waitress told her it was supposed to be raw and completely ignored the fact that she said the rest of it was inedible. We came here for my birthday because the reviews looked great, but now I’m convinced those reviews were written by people who’ve never eaten food before. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. Her stomach started hurting right after we left. If you like your tortillas raw, your chicken slimy, and your chips garnished with a dead fly, by all means, give it a try. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away.
Our party of 4 was seated at approx. 6:10pm. Place was about 2/3 full. We had to leave by 7:30 to attend a concert and I figured 1 hr 20 min would be more than enough time for a meal. We ordered 4 drinks and 4 mains almost immediately. Took abt 5 min for 2 drinks to come. The other 2 drinks took almost 10 additional minutes to arrive. So we are sitting there with our drinks but no food comes. It’s 20 minutes, then 30 minutes, I tell the waitress we have to leave at 7:30, still no food. Now ii’s past 7:00 and I am worried. I speak to the waitress twice more and still no food. She says she will give us to-go boxes but we have no place (or time) to eat from to-go boxes. She gets the food to us at 7:20, but doesnt bring the tortillas that go w the fajita dish. I ask her twice for the tortillas, which arrive as we are quickly shoveling our food into our mouths and putting our coats on to leave. At no time did anyone apologize to us or offer a discount or anything to indicate that they cared that they had provided a horrible and stressful dinner experience. Don’t eat here! The people suck! The service sucks!
