From romantic evenings to solo nights out, our cozy and trendy atmosphere is perfect for any occasion, with expertly crafted drinks and exceptional service that will make you feel like you're dining on top of the world.
California Grill offers exceptional food, especially the goat cheese ravioli, paired with amazing views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Excellent service is frequently mentioned, with servers like Jim and Mark receiving high praise. It's a popular spot for special occasions.
Tip: Book reservations close to fireworks time at Magic Kingdom to watch from your seats or the rooftop deck. Request a window seat in advance for the best view.
It’s been a decade since we’ve eaten here and it was so much better than we remember it from back then. It was a fixed menu where you select an appetizer, entree and a dessert for $99 per adult. Delicious rolls are provided with your meal. We had the goat cheese ravioli and the filet and both were delicious. The steaks were prepared just as requested & with a Pittsburgh char. The wine menu is amazing, filled with choices from almost any wine region of the world. It also offers a good selection of wines by the glass, in case you don’t want an entire bottle or prefer to have a glass of two different wines. The desserts were very good as well. Jason M was our server and he did an excellent job and was very personable, making our dining experience memorable. The views at sunset are absolutely gorgeous!!! Can’t wait to dine here again on our next Disney vacation!!
This is a pretty good restaurant for the views. We had a table facing the Magic Kingdom, Cinderellas castle was perfect viewing sight for our seats. The waiter was ok, nothing special. Kept our drinks filled, but not overly attentive or talkative. The food was, for $100.00 per person, could of been bit better. It was good for sure, but the steak wasn't flavorful. The appetizers were different; I had the eel. I thought that was interesting. The desserts were fancy, but ok. Overall, I went for the view and experience. Would the food bring me back, probably not. They did offer us to come back up to restaurant for the castle fireworks which was nice since we were there around 6ish. Also, I noticed they sat a large family with several very young kids behind a couple ...where the toddlers were literally right behind them and being somewhat loud. Thought it was a bad move to situate the two parties like that, so close. I don't think this is a good place to bring kids under 10. IMO ...
Food was pretty good, service was very good, atmosphere is very casual. They have a dress code, but many people were dressed with shorts and a t-shirt, some with baseball caps (although the dress code says it is not allowed). It is an expensive restaurant, however. The best thing: if you dined that day or have reservations for that night, you can come to the 15th floor when it is time for the Magic Kingdom's fireworks show and see it from the balcony.
Menu options we’re good. Food tasted good! The steak was very tender and the venison (from New Zealand) was tender too. Service was nice and they were attentive and they made good recommendations. The outdoor firework display was amazing! Highly recommend saying for that!
Our dining experience at California Grill was nothing short of exceptional, and a huge part of that is thanks to our incredible server, Jim. From the moment he greeted us, Jim radiated genuine warmth and happiness. Within the first five minutes, we felt less like guests and more like friends. When we learned he’s been with California Grill for over 20 years, it made perfect sense, his professionalism, confidence, and effortless hospitality are the kind that only come from true passion and an unmatched work ethic. Jim’s recommendations were spot-on, including iconic menu items that have been around for 30+ years which added such a meaningful layer to the experience. He didn’t just serve the food, he told its story. To top it all off, when I misplaced my bag, Jim immediately took action and personally ensured it was turned into Lost & Found. His attentiveness never wavered. He also made sure we knew exactly when and where to go for the best fireworks view, turning an already special night into a truly magical one. My husband and I both have years of hospitality and restaurant management experience, and we can confidently say: Jim completely blew us away. He is the gold standard of service. Honestly, he should be cloned and case-studied so the entire industry can learn how it’s done. When we return and we absolutely will, we will 100% request Jim. Thank you, California Grill, for an unforgettable evening and for having someone so extraordinary on your team. This is hospitality at its finest.
It was a great experience all around. Booked it easily through the Disney experience app, checked in via app, got to the restaurant by the designated elevator on the 2nd floor promptly and was greeted with hostess and got seated. Appetizers were good. Main course was amazing. Kids loved their fish main course and chicken noodle soup appetizers. And absolutely loved their ice cream sandwiches. I had one of the best steaks ever. Presentation of the foods were amazing. 5/5, highly recommend it. It’s worth the money.
California Grill is hands down one of the best dining experiences at Walt Disney World. The views are stunning, especially during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, which created an unforgettable backdrop. The food was exceptional in both flavor and presentation, and every course felt carefully crafted. The service truly stood out as the staff went above and beyond to accommodate every request, making the night feel personal and special. This is a must visit restaurant for anyone looking for a world class meal paired with an incredible atmosphere.
My mother and I went here tonight for the first time in four years. My wedding is on Saturday, and every single person that visited our table to check on us congratulated me and was just above and beyond sweet and efficient. The ambience, service, atmosphere, and food are as delicious as I remembered! They now serve only a prix fixe three-course meal for $100 per person. I loved the surf and turf sushi, filet, blueberry cheesecake dessert; and blueberry lemon drop martini. It was quite a great way for me to treat my mom after all her help with the wedding, and it really helped us relax and de-stress. Thank you! It was so nice.
Phenomenal. Service was prompt and professional. Beer and wine selection were great. Food was perfectly cooked to all requests. Would recommend to anybody. Watched the firework show from the terrace and the view was insane. Wagyu steak was simply the best I have ever had. If I could give a 6, I would.
We ate here on the last night of our girls’ Disney trip and wow… what a way to end it! The food was seriously amazing, and getting to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks while we ate just made it even more magical. Our server was the sweetest—super attentive and had the best recommendations. Most of us couldn’t even finish our filets, so we took them back and had them for breakfast the next morning… and they were STILL tender and full of flavor even after the microwave. That blueberry lemon drop martini was chefs kiss. 10/10 would go back in a heartbeat.
Absolutely the best restaurant at Disney World. The steak and pork tenderloin are amazing, and their salad is simply incredible. I would avoid the scallops and ravioli though. Overall, it is the combination of the great food and incredible view of Magic Kingdom that make this a restaurant well worth visiting at Disney World.
Delicious food and an amazing way to celebrate a birthday while watching the evening fireworks! They just overhauled their menu so I wanted to include updated photos. Also it’s $99 for the adult pre fix menu not $89 like I previously saw. Still absolutely delicious and will definitely be coming back!
Was very pleased with our experience here! Got the goat cheese ravioli, wagyu beef for an entree, and the goat cheese cheesecake! Was blown away by every dish. I wish they had more mocktails, but the one I got was pretty good! Loved the view from the restaurant and we got to sit right next to their huge open kitchen! A great experience while staying at Disney!
Very impressive restaurant for WDW property. Food was very good - get the eel roll and the salmon! Pouring lots of great Californian wines. We had an early reservation and saw a beautiful sunset!

Easy 5 stars…atmosphere and service put it over the top..we have gone for my wife’s birthday the last few years. Book around 830, start with sunset and cocktails end with desert and fireworks…great restaurant. (No need for the wagyu, you will be happy with the fillet)
We came here to celebrate my 30th and the restaurant was also celebrating its 30th! The vibes of the restaurant were outstanding. The views were breathtaking and our sever Rachel made our entire evening one to remember. All the food was 10/10 delicious and I will think dream of it forever.
We always enjoy dining here! It’s an excellent spot to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from and the food and drinks are always delicious!
We made reservations at California Grill at the Contemporary specifically to see the fireworks from the rooftop. We requested a window seat prior to our reservation and were accommodated. Our server, Mark was kind, courteous and made great recommendations. He never let our glasses go empty and was personable throughout our whole dining experience. When the magic kingdom fireworks began, he held our entrees so that we were able to go outside to enjoy them. About half way through the fireworks display we came back inside and he was prompt to ensure our meals came out. Every bit of this experience was nothing less than perfect! We will be back!

If you time your reservation well, you can enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks while dining, which is a great experience. The view is excellent, and the food was also very well prepared and enjoyable. The three-course meal costs around $100 per person, so it’s not inexpensive, but the overall experience, especially with the fireworks and atmosphere, makes it worthwhile.
Reduced menu with limited flexibility for allergy adaptation. Every dish was very good except for the dessert options, nothing so special. All gluten free / allergy-friendly options were clearly marked (last picture is the gluten free bun available). Extra points for the beautiful view, and also the rooftop reserved for watching Magic Kingdom’s fireworks. If you’re looking for the late 90’s Disney experience that must be the place.
Great experience. Four stars because we were not fans of the desserts. All of them were loaded with cinnamon-overwhelmingly so, in our opinion. Wonderful service, food was very good, view spectacular-just lost it at the end. Would return, though.
Enjoyed the food. Did not appreciate the elevator and receptionist NaZi. Had to explain to them that we had a delay with a guest due to a wheelchair being returned. Took three times to explain it to them. Table was ready but party was incomplete... Had a wheelchair to return. Food was very good. They take DVC discount and meal plans. My tofu appetizer was good. Not amazing. Scallops, two per serving, were good. Bed of rice below them was very good. Entree of fresh salmon was properly cooked. We like it med rare. The dish was very good. Desert was too rich. Chocolate heaven. Service was wonderful. Dealt with an allergy issues well. Getting up on the elevator was a PItA.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. We had a largely positive evening, the food was delicious. We tried the sushi roll, the tenderloin and the crème brûlée and mille-feuille and everything tasted delicious. The sourdough bread rolls they bring out are also scrumptious. We were also very lucky to see the fireworks from “Magical Kingdom” so that was a great end to our evening as well. What let the place down is the service…. For an establishment that wants to charge fine dining prices- it definitely does not have fine dining level trained staff. While our waitress was lovely, I couldn’t help feeling she was rushing us. To the extent that she brought the bill while we were still eating dessert (which I refused to acknowledge) even though we were still firmly within our reasonable “eating window” slot. When she noticed we were not particularly interacting with the bill waiting at the table (we were still enjoying our wine), she came over and asked if we were ready- to which I snapped and said “I’d like to finish my wine”, which was enough to get her to back off… also, we were actually discussing getting another glass before we were rudely interrupted. All in all, the establishment needs to sort out its service.
What I liked: The location and views are amazing and truly beautiful. To be able to sit so high and view an amazing sunset and the castle at Magic Kingdom was an absolute joy! The service team were excellent and I give a shout out to Julia who took great care of us. I also liked how they had wine pairings for the food. Our disappointment: The food was average at best. I don’t know if we had an off night or what happened because we have heard so many phenomenal stories about this place but we didn’t experience it. The price fixe menu should afford the culinary staff to be on point with a select set of options but my ravioli was like warm at best. I loved the thin pasta and filling but it was hard to overcome the temperature. My husband’s salad was excellent and he loved the caper-looking balsamic pearls. My main entree was the scallops (3) and they too weee lukewarm. Flavorful and cooked to order but I prefer hot food. My husband ordered the lamb as his entree and he said it was dry and overcooked. In retrospect we should have sent the entrees back and requested them to be redone and if we go back I will be more mindful to ask for what I’m paying for, an excellent food experience as I’m sure they would have accommodated us. The desserts were “okay” but not anything I found to be of “fine dining” quality.

Tried this place for dinner while visiting Orlando after it was recommended by a friend. The atmosphere was fine and the service was friendly enough, but the food was disappointing. I ordered the surf-and-turf appetizer sushi, which was very underwhelming—no standout flavors at all. The biggest letdown was the filet. My steak was over-salted, and when I mentioned it to my server, he brought me a “new” one that was then overcooked. I hate to imply this, but it almost felt like they just took the original steak, brushed it off, put it back on the pan, and re-served it. When the server noticed I hadn’t eaten the filet, he simply asked if I was okay and cleared the plates, making no real effort to resolve the issue. One of my guests ordered the pork, which was quite good, and another ordered the filet, which was fine—definitely not over-salted like mine. The desserts and wine were both good. Overall, a disappointing experience.

The people were amazing and the views were fantastic. However, for a high end restaurant I wasn't impressed with the food. The preparation was horrible. I am a medium well to well done kind of guy and that is what I asked and it came out medium or worse. Not to mention the steak wasn't great either. They say filet but it was more of a flat iron. Not much flavor and I didnt eat but two bites casue of the Red. The potatoes that came with it were great and the cheesecake but thats it for me. Paid almost 300 dollars and it was maybe worth 80 bucks tops.
We had a terrible experience last night (1/17/26). Service was beyond sub par and food was just ok (nothing special). We had a reservation at 6:50 and they never brought our dinner out until 9pm. I…
