This is a great place , very friendly staff with a fantastic menu , we have been here 4 times and have never had a bad meal . We will be back soon. Try it you won't be disappointed
4 of us went for a meal on Saturday night in Bar Leo and I can not fault the service or food from when we walked in to when we left even though the restraunt was full. Excellent service with great tasting food at a good price. It's a 5 star for me.
Beautiful food and amazing service. Made to feel very welcome even though we hadnt booked. Would definitely recommend.
A really great place to eat. Excellent food and service. All a very positive and enjoyable evening.
We didn't intend to eat Italian food while we were in Scotland, but the other restaurants' kitchens in this area were already closed. Having said that, the food and service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and made some great suggestions for us. We REALLY enjoyed our meal! Thank you, Bar Leo!
Update: Came back again while passing through Linlithgow this year and still loving Bar Leo. Brilliant with the kids. They loved each of their three courses. Nice to see Peroni on draft now and the Italian Sauvignon was beautiful. Highly recommend the Prawn Puttanesca, supreme flavour. For main course, hard to decide between Lobster ravioli or Veal with wild mushrooms, both are wonderful. Previous Review: Authentic Italian feel. Good menu. Mushrooms stuffed with black pudding were delicious. Would have like to see more wines by the glass and draught beer rather than just bottles.
Fabulous food and service as always. All staff were super friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back
What a amazing place Food is amazing , service was excellent . Enjoyed two Birthday meals here. Choice is plenty and we will return Thank you to everyone
Great all round experience. Lovely food. Nice staff.
Fantastic little place. Very nice decor, our server was very attentive. Our server offered to us a suggestion, since we were traveling to the Linlithgow Palace and could not carry leftovers, he suggested we split a dish. Which was presented to us along with a side of olives which was fantastic as well.
Simply the best Spaghetti of my life! Delicious
Excuse the one photo camera played up sum up food was absolutely amazing from starter to dessert and beer in between I'd highly recommend this restaurant staff were very helpful and informative regarding food choice definitely will be back
Lovely place, great food, great service - what more be said! Recommended
Staff very nice, tagliata and sea bass were superb
Great personal attention from the owner and really tasty food with good choices available. Exceptional dishes on the Specials Board when we were there, including lobster ravioli which I thoroughly enjoyed 🦞 Limoncello was flowing!👌
We ordered cheesy garlic focaccia (which looks like a large, sauce less cheese pizza), a margarita pizza and a primavera pizza. Everything was delicious. Bathrooms are nice and clean, server (owner?) was very nice and efficient. He helped us hail a cab after our meal because we were unable to figure out how to dial the number from our American phones.
Came here with family after a long day travelling. Was given a warm welcome by the staff who were very friendly. Service was fantastic & good amazing. Good portions for the price. Will come back again when in area
Excellent twixtmas dinner, service, food, drinks all top quality. Great team makes you feel welcome and remembers your name!
Lovely diner with a lovely entourage. The owner is a very enthusiastic host who wants the time of your live. He is passionate about the thing he does, lovely to see.
Wonderful italian restaurant. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Great selection of vegetarian dishes, but even accommodated an alteration to a meat dish. Well priced for the portion size in comparison to other Italian restaurants.
Lovely wee restaurant you could easily miss if you didn't know of it. Food is outstanding. Been there a few times before, would recommend and will defo' be back soon.
Great little find.. generous portions and simply delicious.. the chicken liver was excellent as was the fettuccine piscatorial.. plenty of seafood and the pasta cooked perfectly.. great job
I was made to feel welcome as soon as I stepped through the door! Our friends loved it here and I can see why - the lasagna, salad, pizzas and customer service were exceptional. Thanks for a great visit.
Been here 4 times now, a go to whenever I am around for work. Very delicious food for a reasonable price. Staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive. Haven't had a dish that has disappointed me yet!
First day ever in Europe/Scotland, had an early dinner here- had a pizza and tried my first peroni. Wonderful atmosphere, kind and outgoing staff, this was a great first experience across the pond for me. If I wasn’t seriously sleep deprived I would have stayed longer and tried a dessert. Wish I had more time in Linlithgow so I could go back. Highly recommend.
Quaint little Italian restaurant in Linlithgow. They have a good choice of fresh pasta, pizza and meat dishes. I've enjoyed a few dinners here and I've never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is good, the staff are friendly and the prices are fair.
Nice restaurant located in the centre of Linlithgow High Street. We had various pizza and pasta dishes, all of which were very nice. There is a good drinks selection. Staff were friendly and attentative.
Good reliable food, good choice of dishes but nothing spectacular. Had to send one dish back - an afagato and the waiter had a little argument that the coffee should be cold. Eventually changed it. Service is out dated - consistently calling a sixty year old a young lady is condescending not cute. Otherwise good choice for family meal.
Tasty tasty pastas If you are looking for a classic Italian restaurant like your used to from when you were a kid! The breaded veal Milanese was AWESOME, was expecting it to come with a steak knife but it didn't and it didn't need to, it was soft and super tasty! After another visit I'm pleased to say the chicken parmigiana is equally as good! The tagliatelle with bacon, peas, cream and cheese is epic and might be one of the nicest pastas I have has in a long time. The chicken spinach and creme pasta was also excellent The deserts look awesome and home made, we were too full to try one but definitely look worth it The waitress was lovely and all staff were lovely, we did go on a busy Friday night so service was a little slow but not bad considering how full it was. Classic Italian decore, very comfortable. We will definitely be coming back.
Authentic italian restaurant, mushroom starter delicious but found the haggis bon bons alittle bland. Main course made up for this, tomato sauce over the ravaolli was devine. Fresh pasta, lovely surroundings but rather chilly waiter who didn't come across friendly. Although would pay another visit without a 2nd thought.
Nice Italian restaurant in Linlithgow. Has a moderate selection of winesthat covers all the varietal bases. Service was attentive. We enjoyed a fresh pizza which was plenty for us both. Parking you ask? Good luck. There is parking about along the street, but if you're in anything larger such as a van or caravan... you may end up having to park in the ScotRail East parking lot and make the walk.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was just too strange not to share. The food itself was okay—nothing particularly memorable, but decent enough. The real issue was the service. It was honestly very weird. From the moment we sat down, we felt like we were being watched. All the waiters were just standing around, staring at our table like they were waiting for us to leave. It wasn’t even busy—there were plenty of empty tables—so it’s not like they needed the space.
I had a strange experience. Everything felt rushed, like they wanted to get me out of there ASAP. I was only on my way to a table; I didn't even take a seat or look at the menu, and the waiter was like, "What would you like to drink?" Not long after that, he was checking to see whether I was going to have a starter or just a main and wanted to order everything in one forceful go. The food was too little for the price and not that good. I had Italian food at La Cucina a few days earlier and had a way better overall experience; their food was amazing.
Food was reasonably nice, staff were cold and disinterested which spoiled the experience.
Had dinner there last night. Food not great, service even worse. I ordered veal milanese, pan fried in breadcrumbs. It was so greasy the breadcrumbs fell off. The manager and the waiting staff noticed I had not eaten the meal. No one asked if there was a problem. The waitress took the plates away. She asked if I wanted dessert or coffee. I just asked for the bill. The bill arrived with a 10% service charge. I didn't quibble, I gave the waiter £80. He then asked me if I wanted my change. When I was leaving, the manager approached me. I was at the front door. He asked if everything was OK. I told him the veal was inedible to me as I was so greasy. So greasy, in fact the breadcrumbs fell off into a greasy mess. He denied there was anything wrong and in fact, that was only my opinion. I told him quietly and politely, that neither he, or his waiting staff had made eye contact with me, as they knew there was an issue. No offer of an apology, not even a coffee or the offer of a refund for the veal. He was very defensive and very offensive. Do yourself a favour and stear well clear.
Food was alright. The service was terrible. The manager looks the part but is just a whirlwind of inactivity. The waiting staff were good to start but then forgot we existed and just sat down at a table to do some busy work. Manager took a short break to join them. Got fed up and decided to forgo dessert as we might only have one contact left. All in all they've got the gall to stick a suggested 10% service charge on your bill but make no effort to provide the service to deserve it.
So I read the reviews on this place and was not really impressed but a friend recommended it for a group booking. Should not have booked it because the reviews are spot on. Service pushy and rushed, food was very bland and missed of the road. I ordered lamb rump. It came with chips or potato, not even 1 stale of broccoli or a carrot... very strange way to serve a main course. I can see this place becoming a sink and die. 11 of us attended and not one person said they would return. And if you factor in the bad reviews by word of mouth that will happen it really does not do a business good to have this kind of negative feedback. Management you need to have a good look at your service and menu items.....
Been along to bar Leo a few times and has always been great food . It was always my favourite place for food . Yesterday we went and the food was cold when arriving and was sent back . Am vey disappointed in my food yesterday . It was stated it was a birthday no one said happy birthday either . Tryed to email and the email address is not the right one . A don’t think it’s value for money now to be honest very disappointed to be honest
Food was very disappointing. Had the veal with Parma ham, couldn't eat it. Ingredients I love, but cooked in a way that was horrible. Waiter was understanding so offered a quatro stagioni pizza instead. Tasted good, but it was undercooked, overloaded with toppings, so pizza was wet and could only be eaten with knife and fork. Ordered drinks which never came. Can't see a reason to return back.
We came on 3 Nov 2024. The menu at the door was not up to date, it's different from the menu inside, so some dishes no longer exist. We were polite, 'please' and 'thank you' weren't lacking, but not sure that's racism or because we have SEN kids in our group that made the waiter felt we were too noisy, he didn't serve us with patience and no smile at all, which made a big contrast when comparing with those services he provided to the next table of local customers. More, I felt under pressure when the waiter warned me if I not placing order in one go with other members of my table, I can only place order when their dishes being served. Back to the food, Spaghetti Bolognese was too wet and both this Spaghetti and Risitto Affumicato's taste were too light that like no seasonings. On the other hand, Fussilli Salmon Gamberoni was too salty. I can't comment on the food of my friend's family, but missing of dishes on kid's menu made disappointments. Although we finally sorted it out, but being cold-shouldered wasn't a good experience. Can't understand how this restaurant got high score. Definitely won't come back.
