Aji Mori House offers an exceptional omakase experience with fresh, high-quality fish and innovative dishes. Chef J's passion and the attentive staff create a welcoming atmosphere. Some found seating arrangements disappointing or the omakase pricey.

I found this spot on social media while looking for recommended sushi places in the SFV, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It was well worth the wait. The service was impeccable, and we tried most of the specials that were recommended. They offer a lot of unique items you won’t find at other sushi restaurants. We loved everything we had—check out the video for the visuals: mushrooms; salmon and tuna tastings; a shrimp tempura cut roll; various sashimi handrolls; and crispy rice with tuna. Not pictured were the grilled edamame, shishito peppers, grilled persimmon with mushrooms, and the poached egg with shrimp tempura.
Went to Aji Mori in Woodland Hills, CA for our first omakase experience. And omylordtttt, let me tell ya something!!! This restaurant actually made me feel like I wasn't in Woodland Hills at all. I've never been to Japan, but this whole experience actually made me feel as if this would be a similar experience. Great ambiance and amazing team. Chef Jay was so talented and a funny dude. Everything they had served were made in-house down to their yuzu kosho and udon noodles. All fresh and top-tier ingredients. If you're looking for a new omakase experience in Woodland Hills, CA. TRY AJI MORI, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED AND ACTUALLY WORTH EVERY PENNNNNY!! 🍣🍣🍣
I drove all the way from WeHo fully expecting a scene and overpriced sushi — and instead walked into one of the most authentic, pre-pandemic Los Angeles experiences I’ve had in years at Aji Mori House. From the moment we sat down, it felt like home. The dynamic between Chef Jay and the guests was genuine, warm, and effortlessly welcoming. We were encouraged to talk with one another, ask questions, share stories, and truly be ourselves — all while enjoying some of the freshest, most thoughtfully prepared courses imaginable. Many omakase experiences lean overly formal, almost performative. I understand the appeal — but what’s often missing is the human connection. Aji Mori House gets it exactly right. The personal touch here is everything. I learned more about sushi in one evening simply because Chef Jay welcomed curiosity, conversation, and education without ego. At one point, our group — along with other guests — started reminiscing about all the omakase experiences we’ve had over the years. All five of us agreed: this was top-tier. And not too bad for the price per person for LA! What truly sets this place apart is the sense of community it creates. Instead of obsessively photographing every course (as many omakase spots quietly expect), we ended the night taking a group photo with all the guests — and Chef Jay himself. By the end of the evening, strangers had become friends. Love. Openness. Genuine care. A space where meaningful connections naturally happen. Hands down, one of the most amazing LA dining experiences I’ve had in years. I’ll absolutely be back P.S. Can’t wait to go pony horse riding with the new friends we made that night — Steve and Dana. Proof that this dinner didn’t just serve incredible sushi, it created real connections that extend far beyond the table.
This’s our second visit at Aji Mori House and this time we’re trying the Omakase dinner. Chef Jay was very entertaining and the food was delicious ❤️💖. This’s hidden gem in Woodland Hills, we’re definitely coming back with our family and friends.
Aji Mori House in Woodland Hills is hands down the best Omakase experience in the area. It’s an intimate setup with just one chef, which makes the whole meal feel personal and thoughtfully curated. Every course was a standout—fresh, beautifully prepared, and paced perfectly. At $175 per person, the value is incredible for the quality and attention to detail you get. You can tell the chef truly cares about the craft, and it shows in every bite. If you're looking for a top-tier Omakase without the usual LA markup, Aji Mori House is the spot. I’ll definitely be back. @sushitraveler
Last night was my first night trying Aji Mori House. My wife and I were greeted by the Chef and the the wonderful staff who were all very friendly and professional . We were seated at the bar in front of the Chef where we we given a quick description of what he does and his concept behind their Omakase and his passion for fresh and amazing ingredients that uses. Now I’ve heard this before from several chefs then been assaulted by the opposite. Not this time. This time we were treated to one after another of plates that you think “well you can’t get better then this” but then it does, things your mouth protests swallowing because it’s not ready to stop eenjoying it anymore. Ive been a chef for over 35 years and worked with some of the best chefs there are, as well as eaten at Michelin star restaurants all over the world and Chef Jae Jung is as talented and innovative a chef I’ve seen his mastory of flavor combinations are done with excellence and skill. The staf was excellent as well the wonderful woman who ran the front was attentive and knowledgeable and guided us with our amazing saki pairing, every glass perfectly paired and added to the beautiful flavors we were experiencing. This restaurant is relatively new and wasn’t too busy, but im sure soon im going to have to make my reservations a month ahead because this is the next big thing and the next Michelin star restaurant, mark my words. We are so excited that we are going to go back next week, as I need to try everything ASAP! Thank you everyone and thank you Chef, it was truly an honor to travel though this forest of magical flavors with you.
Hands down, the best sushi experience we've ever had—yes, even compared to some spots in Japan! J has created something truly special here. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels intimate and exclusive, like you’ve been invited to a private dining experience rather than just another restaurant. What makes this place stand out isn’t just the quality of the fish (which is, without question, the freshest and most beautifully cut we’ve ever had) but the way the entire meal is structured. Every guest starts together, making it feel like a shared journey rather than just dinner. J takes the time to explain every course, introducing rare cuts and unique flavor combinations we had never tasted before. Each bite was a revelation—delicate, balanced, and executed with absolute precision. The attention to detail, the pacing, and the passion behind every dish make this an experience unlike any other. It’s interactive, engaging, and so much fun. If you're looking for the best omakase in LA, this is it. A true hidden gem that deserves all the hype!
Fantastic sushi! Chef Jay was very informative and entertaining! Loved everything! Very expensive however.
I just had the most amazing dining experience at Aji Mori House yesterday! They serve Japanese omakase-style meals, and every single dish was absolutely delicious and so unique. The chef was not only talented but also super entertaining, taking the time to explain each dish as it was served. My husband and I couldn’t stop talking about how lucky we are to have such an incredible restaurant so close to home. We even joked about making it our weekend tradition because it was that good! I just had to share my experience because it’s rare to find a place like this. If you’re looking for a fun, memorable dining experience, I highly recommend giving Aji Mori House a try!
There are not enough great things to say about this amazing new restaurant. Everything was thoughtful and well executed from the beginning of the experience until the end. From the moment you walk in, you will feel so welcomed by their staff and their beautiful atmosphere. Each course was so fresh, unique and SO delicious. We're still dreaming about their toro + caviar. Everything was exceptional. Highly recommend Aji Mori for one of the best Omakase Experiences in LA.
I've been really excited by some of the recent culinary offerings arriving in and around Calabasas recently, and Aji Mori House definitely adds to that. A new addition to Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills, Ali Mori brings bar raising Japanese cuisine to the area, with some wonderfully innovative dishes prepared and served with genuine passion by their team led by Chef Jae Jung. Highlights include the Monkfish Liver with mushroom, the Shrimp Tempura with a wonderful poached egg sauce, and the crispy freshwater eel. All the sushi were amazing, with only the Baja sea bass being a little insubstantial in taste.
Food is amazing!! The vibe is great and the chef is very knowledgeable about the food and his passion shows in each dish. Took my girlfriend for her birthday this evening and have to say that this place is a must try. It’s a great experience and I will be going back again and again. So excited to continue trying the chefs new creations. Owner is great and makes you never want to try another place for sushi this place is awesome 👏 👏👏❤️
A+ omakase. Do not miss this experience. The variety of fresh flown-in fish and unique combinations will blow your mind - Chef J showed us receipts of clams and scallops that had arrived still alive that day from Boston. You will be wanting to make a reservation for your next visit before you get up from your first one - and I suggest you do, because I imagine it will be impossible to get a seat here once word spreads.
I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, had better food than this! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! I left the restaurant FLOATING! Every bite just keep getting better and better and better. The chefs and servers were super kind. The vibes were immaculate. The food was straight from heaven! Definitely a splurge, but one to remember forever!

A welcome addition to Woodland Hills as the only prix fixe omakase offering in the neighborhood AFAIK. Shari is nicely seasoned on its own but mild/not overpowering in combination. Aji was my favorite neta, followed by crispy unagi and toro. All sauces and condiments applied were house made and thoughtfully combined. The standout dish of my first visit was the wine-braised ankimo & shimeji mushrooms: French technique with Japanese ingredients that showcase the succulent richness of the ankimo and the nutty, umami of the shimeji. The ikura chawanmushi was well executed; velvety and umami. Good sake selection. Chef Jae is a charismatic, fun host, and service was friendly and attentive.
Incredible omakase experience in the Valley at Aji Mori. I can’t tell which dish was my favorite. From the attention the chef gives you, to the incredible dishes he prepares, I was really blown away by it all. Great addition to the valley and do not miss this experience. 10/10
Food is wonderful. Fish quality is also excellent! Omakase experience was very nice and chef and other team was also very kind. They also have good sake and beer. Chef was very nice to squeez us in for omakese without reservation but it was exception and omakese is something I was told the reservation is required as they prepare the ingredients and course dedicated for the session they plan each day I think.
My husband and I came for a Valentine’s Day omakase menu. The menu had 18 courses, but we got an additional course of Hokkaido scallops too. The pacing and the choice of appetizers and nigiri was exquisite. I was delighted that the chefs weren’t 100% traditionalists when it came to flavoring the nigiri: there was yuzu kosho on the madai and kanpachi, the eel was unique because they made it crispy. Delightful, informative, and delicious culinary experience, we’ll definitely be coming back for omakase and à la carte alike.
My favorite sushi place of all time. Everything here is consistently outstanding. The fish is always incredibly fresh, the quality is top tier, and every dish is prepared with so much care and attention to detail. You can truly taste the difference. The service is just as amazing as the food. Welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. Whether you are coming for a special occasion or just a regular night out, this place never disappoints. I have been to a lot of sushi restaurants, and this one stands above the rest. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates real, high quality sushi.

We came in for happy hour and were blown away! The sushi was super fresh and flavorful, the truffle fries were addicting, and the cucumber salad was so refreshing. The chicken ended up being our favorite dish of the night—perfectly cooked and seasoned. Everything came out quickly, the portions were just right, and the atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy. Definitely our new go-to spot!
I'd like to begin by saying that the food here is incredible, fresh, inventive and expertly executed. We made a reservation online for their omakase dinner for 7 pm. They called us later that day to say that the omakase was only at 8, but we could order off their menu at 7. Since we preferred to dine at 7 pm, we opted to bypass the omakase that we read such great reviews about and try their sushi from the menu. The location is in a sleepy part of Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills so parking was easy. When we entered we were happily greeted and escorted to a very small area with three tables but comfortably decorated, and we had the bonus of sitting in a really welcoming banquet. So far, so good. We asked for a tall Sapporo and hot sake, which is what we traditionally order when we go out for sushi. "We don't have hot sake, here's our sake menu." I was a caught off guard and surprised to see that it was like a curated wine list, but the least expensive bottle was around 50.00, and by the glass was 9.00 and 16.00....okay. Not what we were expecting but we went with it. No traditional beers either, but they do have beer. Note, the place isn't inexpensive but the food is worth it, and the sake was also divine. The waitress brought the drinks but she kept the bottle of sake in her refrigerator to keep it cold. We perused the menu and saw a number of things we wanted to try, some familiar, some new. We ordered the grilled edamame, shisito peppers and insanely delicious delicata squash in brown butter and crusted in their housemade furitake (ORDER THIS!!), and a number of their sashimi, rolls and aasorted dishes. The food was outstanding. However when 8 o'clock rolled around and the omakase seating started our service really started to fail. I think they only had 2 servers and all their attention was on the omakase. Our sake glasses were left empty (remember she took the bottle), we couldn't order more food or drink, which we had intended to do and all we could hear was the sushi chef talking about the omakase being served, which was not enhancing our experience. They needed another server. This is clearly a place trying to be an upscale sushi restaurant and they definitely get high marks for the food, but they need to work on maintaining attentive service when their omakase starts, and figuring out a way that customers don't have to listen to the chef when it doesn't apply to our meal. They have a separate lounge area that appeared empty, perhaps using that area for menu sushi service if the sound from the chef didn't spill over, and adding another server during busy times would be all that they need for perfection.

It was alright. I liked probably 10-12/18 pieces. I was just expecting something more. The chef and staff were very nice, but all he would say about that fish is how it was the most expensive fish in the market. I've been to other places where the chef would tell a story about a dish or explain in more detail. Wasnt bad, but not great.

⭐️⭐️ Disappointing Seating Experience We had a confirmed reservation and were really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately the experience fell short. Despite arriving on time, we were seated in a separate, dark room with a bar-like feel, completely disconnected from the main dining area. It honestly felt like we were set aside or left out, which took away from the ambiance and the overall experience—especially for a place that presents itself as refined and intimate. When you make a reservation, you expect to be seated appropriately or at least informed in advance if the seating will be noticeably different. The food may be good, but atmosphere and hospitality matter just as much. Sadly, the seating choice overshadowed our visit and left us disappointed.

Made a reservation in the beginning of January for Valentine's Day at Aji Mori House. It was supposed to be an a la carte dinner. On January 30th, got a call saying they only do their $190/person menu on special occasions, otherwise we would have to cancel. If that was the case, I shouldn't have been able to book it in the first place. Definitely not planning on actually going there after this.
