This was hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Sitting at the bar was a fantastic experience, allowing direct interaction with the chefs and a perfect view of the sushi-making process, complete with their insightful comments. We ordered as we went and tried multiple sushi options, including chef recommendations. The Crunchy Vegas roll was the standout—absolutely incredible. The staff was incredibly polite and welcoming, making the experience even more memorable. We loved it so much that we returned the very next day for more. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny. The location in Little Tokyo is also perfect. Highly recommended!
Authentic Japanese sushi at finest quality. This place serves sushi prepared at high-end style. Everything will feel perfectly enjoyable. Hence, they do use a bit of yuzu, but it makes the sushi a bit more unique and stylish. The roles are great, and prepared in the right size for a bite. It is size also the kids can enjoy easily. Hence, the price point is not in the lower end. But the quality justifies it.
Sushi Enya - omg. All expectations met. From the freshest fish, to the delicious sauce combinations, to the amazing staff. Our party came hungry and left beyond satisfied. Saturday, no reservation - we waited 15 mins before doors and were seated right away.
One of the best sushi places in LA! Super high quality, tasty with least amount of rice in the roll, so that you dont feel full after! Great Unagi, we ordered twice, as it was sooooo good?
Visited October 2019. Best sushi experience I've ever had. We waited to have bar seats (definitely recommended). We really enjoyed the interactions with the chefs and watching the art of the delicately put together intricate creations. The flavours were fresh and top quality. I will definitely be back.
The best sushi I’ve had in a while! Must try their truffle toro - absolutely worth it! All the rolls were great as well.
Always a treat to eat here. This isn't a fast food sushi place. Instead its a 45 min wait to be seated. Reservations are 2 and 3 months wait. Getting a table is a waiting game but you won't be disappointed. Sushi is fresh, no fishy smell inside. The rice is perfectly sweet and sticky, the 60 dollar plater is done with perfect... enjoy the pics because this food is worth the wait.. our chef also very kind and helpful on foods we didn't know what was being made as we sat at the sushi bar.
First time trying the omakase and was blown away! Completely worth the money and chef Jeff was amazing!! The ambiance is great for a date or an upgraded family function but smaller groups only. I will definitely return for the omakase experience!
Sushi Enya is one of the better sushi experiences I’ve had in Los Angeles, and it completely caught me off guard. At first glance, the space is very understated. It’s not flashy, not trendy, and not trying to impress you visually. If anything, it feels almost unassuming. But that’s exactly what makes the experience so good. The focus here is entirely on the fish and the craft. Everything we ordered was excellent, but the uni stood out immediately. It was sourced from Japan and prepared right in front of us, and you can see the care that goes into it. The texture was perfect, clean and silky, and it melted the second it hit your mouth. You can tell right away when uni is handled properly, and this was top tier. The video I posted shows the preparation, and it eats exactly how it looks. The sushi across the board was phenomenal, precise, and clearly handled by someone who knows what they’re doing. The head chef behind the counter was incredible. Skilled, confident, and clearly passionate about his craft. He walked us through what we were eating, made the experience fun, and genuinely added to the night. He even took shots with us, which somehow never took away from how serious he was about the food. It felt authentic, not performative. Pricing was very fair for the quality, especially considering the level of fish being served. It’s not the cheapest, but I don’t go out to eat cheap Sushi. Sushi Enya isn’t about scene or hype. It’s about execution, sourcing, and respect for the product. If you care about great sushi and not just appearances, this is absolutely a place worth going out of your way for.
Great staff, great sushi chefs. I walked in on a slow weekday and they sat me at the bar. Fish was very fresh, good value for the the portions.
I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for years! It’s always so busy with a line out the door. Amazing service, great food. Must eat at spot if in the area!
Sat at the sushi bar on a wednesday right when they opened. Got happy hour drinks and omakase (less expensive option). Fish was very fresh. Service was very fast. Receieved miso soup, ten nigiri, and a hand roll. They hooked up the otoro! Great experience.
This was the first time trying Sushi Enya. We got great service, the food came fast, and tasted as good as it looked. We ordered four special rolls and they were all delicious.
I’m a regular here - absolutely one of my favorite meals in LA. The fish is supremely fresh, the prep is simple, methodical and super super consistent. Have had ~10 meals here, usually at the counter bar - and it’s a pleasure every time. The daily list of nigiri is worth hitting up always, and the evergreen options are thoughtful and delicious. Absolute recommend. Ends up being around 75-80$ as a solo diner for a mix of nigiri maybe 10-12 pieces. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. In my opinion, really worth it.
I’m Japanese I think this ramen is pretty similar to the ones I had in Japan👍 The price is more than three times as expensive though😂 At least, it was the best ramen I’ve had in both the US and Canada I lived in Canada for 2 years, but I had never had REAL Japanese ramen there lol I can say this one is pretty close to authentic Japanese ramen
Was walking around and found this place there was a long line so I decided to try it out. This place has food to die for I mean like if I were to have my last meal somewhere I would choose this place the ramen is great! The broth is not to thick and not watery and there onogiri is great the soboro beef onogiri is not to sweet not to salty. However the price of the food is quite high I mean like 9 bucks for one onogiri that is crazy, come here if you are in the area
Daikokuya Little Tokyo absolutely delivers. The curry udon with chicken was rich, deeply savory, and perfectly balanced—thick, chewy noodles in a comforting curry broth with tender chicken, onions, and carrots. The shrimp tempura on the side was light, crisp, and golden, not greasy at all, with a clean dipping sauce that let the shrimp shine. You can feel the energy of the place the moment you walk in—busy kitchen, fast-moving staff, and that unmistakable Little Tokyo buzz. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. If you’re craving authentic, satisfying Japanese comfort food in Little Tokyo, this spot lives up to the reputation. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
Maybe I was just really hungry but I thought the food was really great. The combination of the ramen along with the small pork cutlet rice bowl complemented each other really well and was the perfect portion for how hungry I was. The pork was tender with a crisp breading that didn’t get overly soggy even when it sat in the sauce for a bit. The little bit of sweetness in the sauce paired perfectly with the salty ramen. And the ramen’s exactly what you’d expect and want out of a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. There was a bit of a wait to get in, but it wasn’t too bad and the service is really quick.
Had a great experience at Daikokuya in LA! We wrote our name on the paper and got seated in around 30 minutes. We ordered the combination and their best selling ramen, the Daikoku. We got the food pretty quickly. The ramen tasted exactly like ones we tried in Japan, and the pork rice bowl that came with the combination tasted great. Overall, we gad a great experience here.
Very good ramen with rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles — definitely lives up to the hype. The service was top-notch as well. What I really appreciated was that the staff clearly reminded us a service charge (tip) was already included on the bill, so there was no pressure or confusion about tipping again. Super thoughtful and transparent. Great food, great service, and an overall excellent experience. Would happily come back next time I’m in LA.
My husband and I stopped by Daikokuya in Little Tokyo for lunch, and it lived up to the hype. The line moved faster than we expected, and once we were seated, the service was friendly, attentive, and efficient without making us feel rushed. We ordered chicken karaage (deep fried leg meat chicken marinated with soy sauce based sauce), takoyaki (5pcs octopus ball), Daikoku Ramen with a small pork cutlet bowl, and a chashu pork bowl. The karaage came out hot and crispy with juicy pieces that had great seasoning. The takoyaki was soft inside with a nice char on the outside, toped with just the right amount of sauce and bonito. The ramen had a rich, creamy broth and tender chashu, and the portion paired perfectly with the small pork cutlet bowl. The chashu bowl was also a hit, especially for anyone who prefers something a bit "lighter" than ramen but still savory and satisfying. Overall, it was a hearty, comforting lunch with consistent flavors across the board. We'd happily come back the next time we are in Little Tokyo :)
Visited on a Tuesday almost right when they opened and the place was full within the hour. Cannot wait to visit again and try more menu items. The fried rice was delicious, probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Also tried the spicy vegan ramen and it was so flavorful, the only thing was it wasn’t spicy at all so not sure if the spice was just really mild or they forgot to make it spicy; it had the right color, just no chili flakes like other spicy ramen bowls we ordered.
I came here for the first time due to a recommendation from a friend and it was absolutely worth it. The staff were lovely, our server kept our cups full and dishes cleared off the table. The food was unbelievably delicious. I got a katsu chicken and rice bowl, which came with a miso soup (a favorite of mine) and this coleslaw type salad that I was unsure about initially but ended up devouring. For appetizers, we ordered gyozas, takoyaki, and tofu nuggets. By the end of it, my friends and I were stuffed and satisfied. Very highly recommend this place. 10/10
For over a decade, this has been my favorite ramen shop. About time I wrote a little about it. Everything is great and served quickly as ramen tradtionally should be. The noodles are properly sproingy, the broth is flavorful, and the ramen eggs are done right. I've been to too many shops that think a ramen egg is a simple hard boiled egg, so this is worth mention. The bamboo shoots do not have that icky canned taste many serve up, either. You know you're getting quality ingredients. I've in the past sampled non-ramen dishes my friends got and everything is solid. Quite frankly, I introduce all my friends to this place, foodie or not. I find an excuse to go every time I'm in the area. According to my friend who grew up a large portion of his life in Japan, he said it was very authentic and loved the vibe, especially all the decor. So if you're looking for an authentic taste of Japanese ramen without the international travel, this is probably a great option. I remember waiting for a while during busy dinner hours a few times, but you'll understand why the other shops nearby will have less of a wait once you've had a slurp of ramen from Daikokuya. P.S. Do yourself a favor and get the kotteri add-on for your broth. It's dang good and I never skip it since I tried it the first time.
great food and lot of food option., best bang for the buck. make sense there is always line whenever we go here

The soups are very delicious and very big for one person. Small place but very well kept. 2nd time eating here. service is great.
Yum! Base of ramen soup is great and savory . Sushi was ok. And dumplings were delish.

It's worth the wait. Just don't go there on weekend. Servers are always nice. I highly recommend.

This is the Little Tokyo outlet of Sushi Enya. The place is on the same street as the popular ramen place. We orders the 18 piece sashimi set twice and the chef was thoughtful enough to put different fish slices on the two orders. We also tried their specialty eel roll which is served on a very long dish since eels are long? Quality of the fish are quite high and attention to details are there. There are not many tables so it gets crowded. Usually there is a wait so suggest to arrive early (5PM) or use table reservations. They have a cancellation fee if you make table reservation. There is no parking on site so you have paid street parking or paid parking structure near by.
Came here for dinner in a group of 7 on a Friday night. We had to wait for an hour to get seated since we had a large group with no reservation. Indoor seating only. They have a omakase option but we all opted for a la carte. I had a chirashi bowl which was quite filling and had a lot of fish. I got green tea which came with free refills. Service was friendly and there are gendered restrooms in the back. Metered street parking. Credit cards accepted. It’s a classy spot to eat high quality fish.
Pretty cute lil spot! Came on a weekday around 6pm so it wasn’t too busy and conveniently during happy hour (which is 5:30-6:30)! I’m vegetarian and there were some pretty decent options. Loved the vegan green man and the Japanese potato fries were pretty good, but could use a dipping sauce like sriracha mayo or something. Shishito peppers were good as well!
I visited this restaurant with a friend who was in town and eager to try ramen. It was my first time here, and although we came on a busy weekend, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in under 30 minutes. After being seated, we were given menus and asked to order within just a couple of minutes. We hadn’t had much time to review the menu yet, and the server seemed a bit impatient that we weren’t ready. While I understand that many guests may arrive knowing what they want—and we could have looked at the menu while waiting—it would have been appreciated to have a little more time to decide. Once we placed our order, the food arrived quickly and looked great. The broth was flavorful and delicious, and overall the dishes were very well prepared. There was a small issue with an egg that was initially missed and later brought out, but it didn’t appear fresh and lacked the usual gooey center. Aside from that, everything we ordered tasted excellent. The portions were generous, and one bowl would easily be enough to share for those with lighter appetites.
I’ve been coming in and out of Little Tokyo in Downtown LA for about 25 years, and this place has always stood out as one of the most well-known ramen shops in the area. It’s consistently busy, often crowded, and parking around here has never been easy—which already tells you how popular it is. I’ve eaten here a few times over the years, and the most distinctive feature of their ramen is the broth. It’s extremely rich, thick, and hearty, with a very deep flavor. The soup is definitely on the bold side and can taste a bit salty, but if you enjoy a heavy, intense tonkotsu-style broth, this is likely right up your alley. Personally, I wouldn’t say this is my absolute favorite ramen spot, but I also don’t assume my taste matches everyone else’s. Given how many people have loved and supported this place for so long, I think there’s a good reason it remains such a staple. There are paid parking lots nearby, and street parking is also available. However, street parking can be difficult to find, so I’d recommend coming either earlier in the day or later in the evening to make parking a bit easier. If you’re visiting Downtown LA or Little Tokyo, I think Daikokuya is one of those places worth trying at least once. Experiencing their signature rich broth firsthand can be both interesting and memorable.
This is a long overdue review (was there on Aug 8, 2025) of Daikokuya in Little Tokyo (Los Angeles), but here I go. My brother and I just attended a Dodgers game (great game and overall great World Series between the two same teams) and were hungry. We had spent nearly $60 within Dodgers stadium and had worked up an appetite after cheering on the LA Dodgers. If you all attended a baseball, you know it takes forever to get out of the parking lot which allowed me to find local restaurants that were still operating late into the evening which brought me to Daikokuya. The number of reviewers and the the stars assigned to this business peaked my interest so we decided to check this place out. Waitlist - yes, this place does get very busy and expect to be on the waitlist. There is also outdoor seating for those that prefer to sit outside; you can indicate your choice upon signing into the waitlist. The staff is also cognitive of waiting time and insists that all members of your party are present in order to be seated, thus those who are smaller parties such as myself and my brother, we were seated fairly quickly (waited 20-25 minutes for a party of 2). We were seated at the counter/bar area and ordered a few dishes to share- fried gyoza, chicken karaage, takoyaki, fried rice and a california roll. The food came out fairly quick and the staff service was excellent. There were a lot of other diners there late at night as well. All in all, the food hit the spot, don't expect your mind to be blown away like a Shohei Ohtani homerun. Recommend: Yes One small note: the water served there was pretty tasty. Not sure if we had too much beer or something that day, but we really noticed the taste of the amazing water there.
Daikokuya Little Tokyo is for sure one of the best overseas Japanese ramen shop I've ever been to. There's always a line there, but the wait time is reasonable, approximately 12-15 mins you'll get your table. Ordered both their best selling Tonkotsu and Spicy Miso ramen, but turned out to like Spicy Miso better, as it's really the same as I had in Japan when working there. (While Tonkotsu is a bit too light the soup).

You can find better sushi place. Price is even more expensive than other better sushi restaurants. Sushi Enya doesn’t have variety of fish, it seems like its kain target customer base is not Asian. If you are willing to spend this money and experience better sushi, try Sushi Gen or Hama Sushi. Sushman and clerks are very kind and professional.
The fish is fresh and tastes delicious. The prices are crazy though for the rolls. Almost 30 dollars for one roll. I can get a better roll for cheaper. They are always awkwardly cut too. I come here all the time. I think I’ll just sticks with the crispy rice and albacore sushi pieces. At night they also spray this cleaning solution while cleaning and wrapping up. It’s so overpowering that it’s makes the dining experience terrible. If go ill go before 9.
There was a brief wait, they switched us to another table after seating for couple minutes. The ramen was decent , but nothing special. I could probably get the same ramen from at least 9 out of 10 ramen places. So I would recommend just try it out once for experience and there's a lot of ramen places around. Overall sth I would try for once.

Fish quality is great really. But this is only worth it if you get nigiri or sashimi and even then I feel it’s a bit expensive for the area. Do not get any rolls because you will be skimped out on sushi. I ordered the rainbow roll and had tiny thin see through pieces, ik they won’t be as big as a sashimi piece but still this is insane because ik a few sushi places in la for slightly cheaper w bigger chunks on the rolls. Sushi enya is not worth it
YEARS OF LOYALTY DISCARDED: A TRAGIC DECLINE AND FOOD SAFETY CONCERNS I have been a loyal patron of Daikokuya for years, but I can no longer remain silent about the shocking decline in quality and the dismissive, borderline insulting "customer service" by Tomoya Murakami and Maia this establishment now provides. If you are considering ordering from here, be warned: • FOOD SAFETY ISSUES: My recent order contained pink, undercooked-looking pork. When I raised this concern, the restaurant’s official response was a lecture on "pasteurization" rather than taking accountability for serving unappetizing, potentially unsafe meat. • THE "MICROWAVE" INSULT: After receiving cold soup, management’s literal response was to tell me - a customer of over a decade—that I should microwave the food myself. When you pay premium prices for "legendary" ramen, you are paying for a prepared meal, not a "heat-it-yourself" TV dinner. • DECEPTIVE PROMOTIONS: They ran a BOGO (Buy One Get One) promotion on Uber Eats, failed to fulfill it, and then blamed the platform. As the merchant, they control their kitchen and their storefront. Shifting the blame to a delivery app for their own failure to count to two is a cowardly business tactic. • ABYSMAL SERVICE: From being hung up on by staff (Maia) to receiving a template email full of excuses, it is clear that Daikokuya no longer values the people who built their business. It is heartbreaking to see a 13-year relationship end this way. Daikokuya used to be a gold standard; now, it’s a masterclass in how to alienate your most loyal supporters with cold food, excuses, and a total lack of integrity. Save your money. Go to a ramen shop that actually respects its customers and understands that "microwave it yourself" is not an acceptable service model.
Short conclusion: I won’t come back and wouldn’t recommend this place. Pros: Portions are large. The pork and egg were good. Cons: The soup was extremely salty — so much that it completely overpowered any other flavors. The noodles were also not good and tasted like instant noodles. The tables and seats are placed very close together, making it uncomfortable to sit and dine. We also felt rushed throughout the meal. We were asked twice within a minute if we were ready to order while we were still looking at the menu. Then, within about 20 minutes, we were already given the receipt while we were still eating. Not long after we finished, staff came over with the payment machine, which made the experience uncomfortable.
