Opinions de Esco’s NY Style Pizza Los Angeles
First things first I’d like to say that I admire and respect the owner/chef for making a fresh pie just so that I can have a couple of slices of his Buffalo Chicken Pizza which happens to be 10/10!!!!!! Just a week ago I had the chopped cheese sandwich 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The customer service at Esco’s is just as good as the food. Bring your appetite and good vibes, this is definitely the best AUTHENTIC NY style pizza in town ❤️
Esco (the owner) is a stand up guy. Great spot to stop in and chat with somebody passionate about pizza. Classic NY style big slices, good garlic butter rolls as well. It’s a no fuss spot which is a gem in a city full of $11 slices trying to be exclusive and bougie. They have a large variety of flavors and I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. I’ll for sure be back
Fantastic build out ambience esp the indoor train not to mention affordable delicious pizza! Got the cheese and margherita pizza slices! Friendly staff from start to finish too! Escos Pizza located next to Bludso’s Bar & Que on La Brea Ave. Esco brings East Coast flavor to Los Angeles with his New York style pizza, pastas, salads, chicken wings, and classic New York sandwiches; the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the chopped cheese sandwich and the Parkside Cubano.
I wish I could give this place 10 stars. I apologize in advance for not reaching out to tell Esco that after my mother & I sat down for the most incredible pie I’ve had in (not exaggerating) I can’t even begin to tell you when. We also ordered Zepoli’s. Apparently west coast people do not know what they are. ESCO DOES! Even serves them classically in a brown bag. I’m getting ahead of myself. You walk in & are transported to the subway in New York. They made an actual train where you can sit inside (not to eat just to hang). It then has an area that when we went was not open as of yet, that is a 7000 SF space for private parties. Esco said he would be will be opening it up to the public for sports & other larger public events. This pie though. Let me tell you!!! & the vegan one he made was incredible. He even uses Follow Your Heart cheese. Now I don’t want to stop there. I’ve literally tried almost every pie (without meat) because what I didn’t tell Esco was that I told my brother & sister in law about this place. I sent her the link so she would have it. My nephews birthday was that Sunday & she ordered about 30 pies. Every single person at the party kept coming up to my brother asking WHERE IS THIS PIZZA FROM? ITS THE BEST. At this point I didn’t have a bite yet so I had no idea. My brother came up to me & told me great job Aar for the recommendation. I asked him what recommendation. He then told me about the pizza. Side bar: Esco I think it’s super important to either put a sticker or make custom pizza boxes with the make of the pizza place & location & number. I couldn’t believe how 50+ people at this party finished 29 of the 30 pies. We had the grandma’s, the Salad Pie (how did I not ever think of that), plain cheese, & I took pics of so many more too (see photos). When grabbing a spice of proper pizza, it’s important when folded in half that it becomes very phallic & stands upright. Lol. The crust on this pie!!! did just that! On EVERY SINGLE PIECE I HAD. To be able to make one pie is one thing. To make 30 pies at once & they are consistent is the reason this place deserves 10 stars. PS we even were able to meet Esco’s sister who was visiting from New York with her friend. & we broke bread by sharing the Zepoli’s. See you soon my friend.
Rosie says she "nose" a legit NY crust when she sees one. We had pizza, wings, and salad. The pizza is true NY- makes you think you're gabbing a slice in the city, wings are ❤️🔥, and the basil on the caprese salad was farm-to-table fresh. It tasted like I had just grabbed it from my garden. The cherry on top is the amazing customer service. We are so glad we found our pizza spot in LA.
One of the best slices of pie you can get outside of NY in my opinion. A 9.5 out of 10 now I see why their ratings are soo high. The crust had an official NY flop and a nice and chard crispy crust!! Also the cheese was a great grade of quality and so was the pep. But, I only have one critique and it's the Ranch! Honestly it taste like that last bit of ranch you have and you have to add water to get it off of the walls of a ranch bottle. Guys please make some house made ranch for us ranch lovers!
The best pizza in LA and…California! Everything is delicious, the pizza is giant and there is a wide variety of flavors! It is a truly Italian pizza that will leave you with a taste of joy and the desire to return with friends! A 5-star place that generates authentic recommendations! You can notice that the materials are fresh, the attention is incredible, warm, the design of the place creates an environment that invites you to feel at home, but above all that makes you want to return. Oh, and don't forget to try the cheesecake! (I'm an expert in desserts and this one is unforgettable) And I can't fail to mention the interior design of this place which is a 10 (they recreated a NYC subway to take photos! We never saw a place like this with this level of excellence! Well done !!!!
This spot is great! Esco is a great guy. He took the time to talk us through everything, tell us some great stories, and make some great recommendations. The pizza we had was amazing. We ended up getting more. Easily one of my favorite pizza spot around town. And love the subway car on the side. We got some great photos in there. You should definitely come. I can't wait to come back.
Such an amazing an unique spot! The inside of the store is detailed in a manner that makes you feel as if you've been transported to a different city, and the cool room that is designed as a NY subway train was super cool. The pizza was also AMAZING!! Took the family and ordered a 22' meat lovers and cheese pie with garlic knots and a salad. It was more than enough to feed all 6 of us and everyone left impressed by the quality and taste of the food, but also the friendless of the staff. I highly recommend this pizza spot and will definitely come back in the future.
Stopped after Church volunteer event, for a bite. This the only Pizza spot I regularly go to in LA. The pizza taste amazing, I feel like I’m eating at one of my favorite spot in NYC (lived in NY 19yrs)… The aesthetics and the decor is fun and modern. They also have a model of a NYC style train that you can take selfies in.. I love the NYC murals in the walls. This place is roomy, seating is comfortable, I never feel rushed or crammed. Each time I go back, I try something new on the menu & it always taste good. That’s a big deal in LA, good food is sometimes hard to come by. Love it this spot, plus it’s warm here, great customer service!!!! Esco’s Pizza gets 👍🏽👍🏽 Thanks!
Today I'm going to talk about a pizzeria I found by chance. When I was looking for a pizzeria on the map I saw this place which is only a mile away from me and their pizza looked good from the photos and I wanted to see it up close, we know that in many places the photos are great but still it would have been better if they gave the dough directly. I hit the road and went to Esco's, by the way I'm a sucker for a place like this that only sells pizza by the slice. I went in and it was bigger than it looked in the photos. It's huge. After ordering one I immediately said it looks very good and I got a second one. I cross this road five or ten times a day. Across the street is Charlie's. But I didn't know there was a pizza place across the street. When you walk in, you can be sure that a perfectly designed shop is waiting for you. It's meticulously prepared. My only regret is that this place is new and not yet discovered by many people and it was empty when I went there, so I took it and left quickly. But I believe that in a year I will have to wait in line in front of this place.
Pizza that does everything right! Could be the best pizza in town easily, but I’d suggest better flour and a more flavorful sauce. The crust was perfect. My slice wasn’t soggy and flaccid. The flour isn’t special but they do know how to make the most of it. I think the person that bakes the pizzas deserves tons of credit. Serious! Sauce everywhere, really good sauce too, but not the best. Better than most definitely. So much sauce I don’t care and the crust keeps it from ruining everything. This pizza really outdoes most pizzas! The large with pepperoni, mushrooms and olives is $40. It’s larger than most large pizzas too. This pizza is definitely one of the best and if it had better ingredients it might just be the best. Sadly they use the word ”pie” which is my pizza pet peave. lol It’s not a pie, sorry nyc. Tons of parking but the lot is often full.
The best pizza in LA, as far as I'm concerned. I'm a homesick New Yorker and I will go out of my way to grab Esco's anytime I'm remotely near LAX. Lovely and decent staff, generous slices and dope music on the radio. The Buffalo chicken is a treat. Tip generously, they deserve all your ❤️!!
I was driving by looking for something to eat and was so glad I stopped by, the food was phenomenal, the service was amazing and Escos is such a genuine and great person. Will definitely make a point to stop by and hen I'm the area. The Margherita was the best, easiest 5 star ever!!!
Just ate here today. I've been to literally 16 other pizza places all over LA county trying to find the best pizza. So I don't say this lightly: Esco's is the best Pizza in LA. Any visiting pizza snob from any other city can go ahead and judge LA's pizza based on Esco's. They represent LA proud.
I’m fan on flavor if the food’s not right, I’m not eating it or I’m sending it back. But this pizza place? They got it . The pizza was hot, full of flavor, for example you’re not gonna get just a hot pizza. They got hot sauce on it. You’re gonna get seasoned hot pizza. I’m definitely coming back!! Thank u so much I sure did appreciate the food every bit of it was 🔥🔥🔥
Good quality NY style pizza in LA is hard to come by. This place does it. Authentic and tasty. Great job. Great service. From a true NYer
Sooooo good! I’m really big into pizza and this place did not disappoint me! I will be back! Can’t wait for my friends to try!! Thank youuuuu
We’ve only ordered delivery from here but it is by far the BEST New York pizza in LA! I’m a New Yorker and therefore a pizza snob at times- this place makes me very happy! Giant pizzas, thin crust, just the right amount of crispness, excellent fresh ingredients. Finally feels like home!
Esco’s serves slices so big they should come with their own zip code. Truly East Coast-authentic — the kind of slice you automatically fold, even if you’re from LA and have no idea why you’re folding it. Perfectly chewy crust, great sauce, generous cheese… it’s the closest thing to grabbing a slice on the corner in New York or New Jersey without having to complain about the subway. If you want a real East Coast pizza pie in LA (and a slice the size of your face), this is the place. The price tag is a bit expensive ($30 per pie) but they deliver.
Amazing really. Got a too good to go bag and it came with 3 giant slices that were all different. The one with ricotta and pesto was amazing, as well as the cheese. I couldn’t believe it! It was late night as well and I was so happy with it and I would definitely come back again. The pizza itself is not that oily and you could eat on an empty stomach without having any issues. It was great and highly recommend!
Esteban “ESCO” was born in NY, where his dad had a pizza place. This is real NY pizza. it is amazing. Esso is co-owner of his own pizza shop in Mid-City Los Angeles, in collaboration art entrepreneur, Aryn Drake-Lee. ESCO’s NY Style Pizza shop isn’t just a place to grab a slice, but you can. It is a great small Black and Latino owned and family operated business. Alongside their great pizzas, they also have crispy chicken wings, fresh-made salads, customizable calzones, and their signature Nutella knots—a sweet treat. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., but I don't know about holidays. This reliable restaurant has been a Slice partner for one year ( a great delivery service). Curbside pickup at Esco's New York Style Pizza makes things easy. Place an order, and it'll be ready for you to pick up or eat there. The place is so cute and clean. I have not tried all of their pizzas yet, but here is their menu for now: Cheese Pizza $30.00 Mozz and tomato sauce Vegan Margarita Pizza $35.00 Vegan margarita. Famous vegan mozz. Pepperoni Pizza $35.00 Mozz and tomato sauce Meat Lovers Pizza $40.00 Pep, sausage, and bacon. Supreme Pizza $40.00 Pep, sausage, bell peppers, onions, and olives Sausage Pizza $35.00 Mozz, sausage, and tomato sauce Veggie Pizza $35.00 Bell peppers, onion, olives, and garlic | Feeds 3-4 Adults or 6 Kiddos. Margarita Pizza $35.00 Crushed tom, mozz, and basil. White Pizza Pie $35.00 Three cheeses: asiago, ricotta and mozz. No red sauce Buffalo Chicken Pie $40.00 and; Spicy Buffalo chicken and mozz. BBQ Chicken Pie $40.00 Have fun. Happy New Year.
Pizza was fire! Served hot and fresh. I’m always looking for New York style pizza around the city and this place checks all of the boxes. Better than Mulberry Street and some of the other chains that are around. It’s a small little pizza joint but what more do you need? Highly recommended!
Ok the pizza and service was A1! The parking situation really sucks! It’s a very busy intersection and busy strip mall so lots of incoming and outgoing traffic in the parking lot. Be ready for that. We opted to eat in the car because it was a bit stuffy in the pizza spot but that’s to be expected especially if you’re from NY you know this! Esco was serving us and very friendly. My husband is from NJ born and raised between NY and NJ so finding authentic pizza in California has not been easy these last 10 years. We have been up and down the state in search of pizza that he can tolerate. He finally said he liked a pizza here in California and it’s here at Escos. With that being said we tried a plain slice, a pepperoni slice and the margherita. All has really good flavor, it had the crunch and it had the hometown grease sliding down your hand ifykyk.. don’t sleep on this I highly suggest you stopping and giving it a try!
The pizza was amazing! It was like being back in New York again. The owner was so nice and I loved all the new pizzas he came up with. My favorite was the pepperoni and ricotta with hot honey. Definitely going to be my new pizza spot!
My company put a large catering order with a variety of their pizzas for our work event. Safe to say the customer service was perfect, delivery was on time and the pizza was amazing! 10/10 highly recommended for catering.
We were in the area doing a job and stopped by here after seeing them on several instagram videos about best new york style pizza in LA. This place did not disappoint easily some of the best pizza we’ve ever had!
We flew into LA this morning and wanted to grab lunch before heading north out of town. We did a google search for the best thin crust pizza in LA. Esco’s came up first, so we hopped in the rental and drove straight over. We were SO glad we did! The pizza was delicious…that crust! It had just the protective amount of crispiness and was rich in flavor. Esco was warm and inviting. He made us feel welcome - real gem of a guy. Now we just wish he’d open a store in Dallas where we live!
NY Cheese Slice - 5 🌟! NY Meat Lover's Slice - 5 🌟! I found Esco's Pizza when I was reviewing another place close by. I saved it on my maps and came back when I was in the area. I love pizza in all shapes, sizes, styles, and a variety of toppings, and Esco's looks interesting from the outside. I am happy to report that their pizza is excellent. Sometimes, the LA pizza scene gets overshadowed by some of the bigger names out there and smaller, newer spots like Esco's (the owner said he'd been there about 10 months) can be harder to spot. The pizza is available by the slice, and I had two NY slices. They were huge slices. The ones I had were super fresh. Crust was chewy and crunchy. Cheese, sauce, and toppings are all excellent. The owner, who was there and happy to chat, was friendly and had a strong NY accent, so you know he knew what he was doing. I was quite happy with my slices. Their dining room is excellent as well with a big, huge open kitchen as the main feature so you can watch the magic happen. I parked on the street, so I'm not sure if there is parking. Show Esco's some love! He deserves success in bringing his NY pizza to LA and sharing it with all of us.
Super friendly staff, really nice layout, awesome lunch deals, the pizza was amazing. The hot honey pepperoni was really something different, so so good. For sure recommend!
Esco’s on Pico is the real deal for New York pizza lovers in LA! This spot brings that authentic East Coast vibe, from the bright orange decor to the hustle and bustle of the place—it almost feels like you’re grabbing a slice in NYC! The pizza itself? Unmatched. The crust has that perfect NY fold and flop, with just the right char and crispiness on the edges, and it packs incredible flavor. The cheese melts in all the right ways, and the pepperoni’s got that savory punch you crave. Esco’s doesn’t just serve pizza—they serve an experience that transports you right back to the city. A solid 9.5 out of 10 slice for any NY-style pie fan. I highly recommend!
Finding new places to eat is something I truly enjoy doing. Finding a new place to eat that makes great food is even better. Esco's Pizza is making some of the best pizza in town. Right on the corner of Pico and La Brea, the pizza here will make you think you were in New York. But I can't take the credit for finding this hidden gem, that goes to my fiancé for suggesting we try it.
The best margherita slice in LA? Absolutely yes! It is simple and not bombarded with a lot of nonsense. It is a true New York pizza joint. Coming from Queens is great to see another NYer bringing some much needed flavor to LA. I also tried his white slice, regular cheese slice, garlic knots that were delicious. My other favorite items were the knot filled with nutella and the sausage and pepperoni calzone. If you're from any of the five boroughs you would like the outside and the inside with the colors from New York, blue and orange. The customer service is excellent.
Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 The pizza was super delicious! I also go the Caesar salad. The pizza was really thin and had a lot of toppings and flavor. I got the white clam and it wasn’t too fishy. It was super delicious and tasted great with the extra lemon on top and the red peppers. I also got the sausage and pepperoni. It was also amazing and had a lot of flavor. would definitely recommend price for a large slice of pizza.

Stopped in and had a cheese slice. Excellent snap and nicely developed flavor to the crust. Nice and thin all the way to the edge, great cheesy slice with a deep robust tomato sauce. I’d be happy to have that as my neighborhood place. Keep slinging awesome pies
Ecco’s Pizza is seriously good. The New York slice had great flavor, a nice thin crust, and a really satisfying bite. Nothing felt heavy or greasy. The service was fantastic and my order came out quickly. I left already wanting to come back.

Overall I really enjoyed our lunch here. The pizza was delicious. The atmosphere was very cool... But I have to say that the servers were very "blah". We walked in ( there wasn't another customer inside)... But they never looked up at us...They never greeted us... Nothing. We had to say hello first and when we asked about the menu they just pointed to a QR code on the wall. Of course, the most important thing is the food.. And it was really delicious, however it is really important to me personally to feel that my business is appreciated. With all the restaurant competition in the neighborhood, I really feel they need to try much harder.
I'm a born and raised New Yorker (Long Island/Brooklyn) transplanted here in LA. This pizza is the real deal. Tastes exactly how real New York pizza should. Had two cheese slices and of course I folded my slices like a typical New Yorker and had some garlic knots. My son had a three cheese slice. I will be honest and say that the garlic knots had zero taste of garlic. They just tasted like bread dipped in oil, so I don't recommend those as they taste nothing like NY garlic knots or any version of garlic knots whatsoever. No flavor. I asked for more garlic sauce on the side to try to add more garlic flavor but the "garlic oil" that I was given tasted like plain oil with the tiniest hint of garlic. 5 stars for the cheese pizza slices, but removed a star for the tasteless garlic knots.
It’s a good nyc slice. But more cheese does not make it taste better. It’s worse cuz you lose balance and crust crunch. I know the original pizza maker wasn’t there to make my pie. And I want to support this business. But please tell your pizza makers to keep the cheese balanced. Too much cheese makes it a worse slice of pizza. Only New Yorkers know this and too many west coasters think more cheese equals better pizza. Hope you guys fix this cheese overload. I wanna nyc slice not a Little Caesars slice. A bit more “char” would be nice too. Slice was on the doughy side.
Second time I order pick up in advance and the order isn't ready. Their pizza is fire but they have to do something about the time it takes to complete an order. Will think of going elsewhere next time I decide to order pizza. There are so many good pizza places in LA. The wait time here is not worth it.
I'm not sure where to begin. Service was just okay. They spent a great deal of time schmoozing a customer who was picking up a "big" order. They gave him a slice of hot honey pepperoni even though he kept declining. Guy finally said he'd take it to go. Owner kept calling me ma'am but didn't get the door for me as I was exiting with 2 boxes. Pizza was just okay. Cheese was chewy. I will say they did something extra in the veggie pizza that I appreciate. It gives a nice umami effect that I didn't find in any other slices. Menu is pig heavy with only 3 options (basil, garlic. Cheese, veggie) to choose from. At least, that was all that was available on Sunday. I don't know.
This place was a letdown. The photos don’t represent what’s current. We expected a cool restaurant like the photos from what previous customers have posted. It’s moved locations entirely. We decided to eat in the trunk of the car. Pizza was okay. $40 for just a large average pizza seems insane. The toppings were good and the pizza was hot, but the crust was oddly chewy. The garlic knots seemed fresh!

Spending many years in NYC metro area, after driving by a number of times on La Brea and seeing the sign for NY style pizza I got fooled…the pizza was horrible. Dry like crackers and not tasty at all. Don’t make the mistake… Service was above average, but it cannot make up for this horrific pizza.
