Opinions de Messhall Kitchen Los Angeles
This place is a gem! Only down side-No street parking, only valet costing $8. We sat at the bar- The bartender *Louis* impressed us with his cocktail skills and his positive energy. He was very attentive and provided excellent customer service. Highly recommend: SLOW COOKED POT ROAST: exceeded my expectations! I will come back for this dish. The horseradish cream is brilliant. KALE CAESER SALAD: generous portion & flavorful.
Great place for all occasions. The patio is pretty nice and the valet parking is very convenient. The waiters are super friendly, and the food was pretty delicious. I recommend the Smalls and the mess burger 😋
My first time in, food was authentic…chef from New Orleans, I ordered shrimp and grits and was transported! I also had seafood Mac and Cheese, yummy. Original craft cocktail with lovely taste and not over sweet. Prices were good, especially for the quality and quantity. We sat on the enclosed patio at the fire pit and it was really relaxing. Everything about this place was great.
Only stopped for drinks, desert and appetizers. Drinks were perfectly crafted, Mac and cheese was delicious and the brownie was the best ever. We got an extra brownie to go. The wait staff was lovely and engaged.
We got reservations for 8 and were seated on the patio. Our server was really kind, super patient and helpful, and cracked jokes with us — all around really fun! We ordered a bunch, of course, but some highlights were the French toast. My kid couldn’t get enough of it. He would have licked the plate if I’d have let him! One of us had the Cobb salad and she said “I was almost regretting my choice to get a salad but then it ended up being the best Cobb salad I have ever had!” So, glowing review there. Another at the table ordered the car cafe burger and was definitely happy with it! And a couple of us ordered the standard — eggs were cooked to perfection, the fruit selection was excellent, and the potatoes. My goodness, those potatoes. Worth a visit for those alone. I’m gonna be thinking about them often. Plenty of food to go around, and prices were fair for the quality! The only bummer (for me, perhaps not as much for others) is that they do allow dogs on the patio. There was some barking involved and overall it’s just not my favorite to have pets in a food establishment. I’m not knocking off an overall star though, the food was worth it!
This is a place which is special to my family. My uncle brings us here every time we visit from PA, and it is the best treat. The food is amazing, the service is unbeatable, and the atmosphere is beyond welcoming. The staff are attentive, friendly, and top notch. This is a place I look forward to coming every time I’m in LA!
Got a tasty burger with a side of crispy Brussels that really hit the spot. Expansive seating areas with a modern rustic feel, and really friendly and attentive service. We were afraid the music playing on the speaker system might be too loud to have an easy conversation with friends, so they were nice enough to turn down the volume a bit. Parking can be a bit challenging in the area (the restaurant offers valet parking for a fee), but we were able to find free street parking down by the Albertson's, just a few minutes walk away.
Had a wonderful family meal. If you are feeding a large party, the Platters are the way to go. The service was great. The vibe is cool. Tuesday's they gave $1 oysters, which is an awesome deal. The flavors of the BBQ are so on point. Juicy chicken, spicy links, sweet tender pork. But the Brussel Sprouts are a delicious flavor bomb!!! Eat Drink & be Merry!!!
Amazing 🤩,my husband and I were going to another restaurant saw the parking valet and asked if we can park he said yes it’s $8.00 I asked if it’s only for Messhall Kicthen? He asked were we were going I mentioned Stamp Proper Foods. He said oh no enjoy this place better! We have it a try and we are glad we did! Amazing ambience, we got seated fast they have outside and inside seating. The food was delicious as well as the drinks. Give it a try and ask for any type of alcohol beverage they have a variety of choices.
Came with my daughter and mama, and let me tell you....they did not disappoint. Wonderful service, great tasting food! My Kom loved the half dozen oysters so much, we ordered a second round. Fantastic wine selection! Their Farro Risotto was delicious and their Spicy Quinoa hit the spot. Their salmon was made to perfection. My daughter loved the kids choices so yes, very kid friendly. Definitely coming back again
Went for brunch. The ambience and the staff are great. The crab cake hash and loz feliz Benny are great as well. The smothered biscuits with fried chicken was tasty and has a smoky taste. It was a little too spicy for my friend (pro tip: ask them to hold the hot sauce if you can’t handle the heat). The pancakes are beautiful but taste wise I would pass.
Great patio ambiance. Nice, attentive servers, although their timing was a little off. The service felt a bit rushed. They come by to grab your plate when you're not quite yet done with a course. The food was fine. Nothing mind blowing but decent. The crispy brussel sprouts were a standout. Good burgers, good salads. The apple sorbet was a surprising delight.
The food was well-prepared and flavorful, but I was surprised by how limited the menu is for someone who can’t handle spicy dishes. Most items had some level of heat, and the kitchen wasn’t really able to make modifications, which made choosing a meal a bit tricky. The ambience was okay, nothing particularly memorable. Seating was also on the uncomfortable side, with hard chairs and no cushions. We came for dinner, and it was a bit chilly outside; unfortunately, the fire warmers weren’t turned on, which would have made a big difference. Overall, it was a decent experience but nothing standout. I might come back to check out their happy hour oyster specials, which I’ve heard good things about.
Ambiance and service are great, but the food can be really lacking. The pancakes were really gummy, last time, so I tried the French toast and it was a disaster. I’ve never seen a sweet dish garnished with parsley. The eggs are under seasoned, the sausage is dry. Breakfast potatoes are great!
I've been looking forward to trying this place, unfortunately I wasn't able to, as the service was nonexistent. I came to the restaurant around 2pm on Saturday, & was seated immediately. The restaurant was pretty empty, though some people were there. I waited over 25 minutes at a table without even acknowledgement that I was there. I looked around, and no one seemed to be getting service. Several workers (some who appeared to be servers) walked right by me multiple times. I gave up & walked out. I value my time & money. I guess they didn't want my business. Parking appears to be valet only as well, unless you can find street parking. Save yourself the trouble & go elsewhere.
