Opinions de Mr. Ramen Los Angeles
Sushi Enya is one of the better sushi experiences I’ve had in Los Angeles, and it completely caught me off guard. At first glance, the space is very understated. It’s not flashy, not trendy, and not trying to impress you visually. If anything, it feels almost unassuming. But that’s exactly what makes the experience so good. The focus here is entirely on the fish and the craft. Everything we ordered was excellent, but the uni stood out immediately. It was sourced from Japan and prepared right in front of us, and you can see the care that goes into it. The texture was perfect, clean and silky, and it melted the second it hit your mouth. You can tell right away when uni is handled properly, and this was top tier. The video I posted shows the preparation, and it eats exactly how it looks. The sushi across the board was phenomenal, precise, and clearly handled by someone who knows what they’re doing. The head chef behind the counter was incredible. Skilled, confident, and clearly passionate about his craft. He walked us through what we were eating, made the experience fun, and genuinely added to the night. He even took shots with us, which somehow never took away from how serious he was about the food. It felt authentic, not performative. Pricing was very fair for the quality, especially considering the level of fish being served. It’s not the cheapest, but I don’t go out to eat cheap Sushi. Sushi Enya isn’t about scene or hype. It’s about execution, sourcing, and respect for the product. If you care about great sushi and not just appearances, this is absolutely a place worth going out of your way for.
Great staff, great sushi chefs. I walked in on a slow weekday and they sat me at the bar. Fish was very fresh, good value for the the portions.
I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for years! It’s always so busy with a line out the door. Amazing service, great food. Must eat at spot if in the area!
This was hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Sitting at the bar was a fantastic experience, allowing direct interaction with the chefs and a perfect view of the sushi-making process, complete with their insightful comments. We ordered as we went and tried multiple sushi options, including chef recommendations. The Crunchy Vegas roll was the standout—absolutely incredible. The staff was incredibly polite and welcoming, making the experience even more memorable. We loved it so much that we returned the very next day for more. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny. The location in Little Tokyo is also perfect. Highly recommended!
Authentic Japanese sushi at finest quality. This place serves sushi prepared at high-end style. Everything will feel perfectly enjoyable. Hence, they do use a bit of yuzu, but it makes the sushi a bit more unique and stylish. The roles are great, and prepared in the right size for a bite. It is size also the kids can enjoy easily. Hence, the price point is not in the lower end. But the quality justifies it.
Sushi Enya - omg. All expectations met. From the freshest fish, to the delicious sauce combinations, to the amazing staff. Our party came hungry and left beyond satisfied. Saturday, no reservation - we waited 15 mins before doors and were seated right away.
One of the best sushi places in LA! Super high quality, tasty with least amount of rice in the roll, so that you dont feel full after! Great Unagi, we ordered twice, as it was sooooo good?
Visited October 2019. Best sushi experience I've ever had. We waited to have bar seats (definitely recommended). We really enjoyed the interactions with the chefs and watching the art of the delicately put together intricate creations. The flavours were fresh and top quality. I will definitely be back.
The best sushi I’ve had in a while! Must try their truffle toro - absolutely worth it! All the rolls were great as well.
Always a treat to eat here. This isn't a fast food sushi place. Instead its a 45 min wait to be seated. Reservations are 2 and 3 months wait. Getting a table is a waiting game but you won't be disappointed. Sushi is fresh, no fishy smell inside. The rice is perfectly sweet and sticky, the 60 dollar plater is done with perfect... enjoy the pics because this food is worth the wait.. our chef also very kind and helpful on foods we didn't know what was being made as we sat at the sushi bar.
First time trying the omakase and was blown away! Completely worth the money and chef Jeff was amazing!! The ambiance is great for a date or an upgraded family function but smaller groups only. I will definitely return for the omakase experience!
I’m a regular here - absolutely one of my favorite meals in LA. The fish is supremely fresh, the prep is simple, methodical and super super consistent. Have had ~10 meals here, usually at the counter bar - and it’s a pleasure every time. The daily list of nigiri is worth hitting up always, and the evergreen options are thoughtful and delicious. Absolute recommend. Ends up being around 75-80$ as a solo diner for a mix of nigiri maybe 10-12 pieces. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. In my opinion, really worth it.
Sat at the sushi bar on a wednesday right when they opened. Got happy hour drinks and omakase (less expensive option). Fish was very fresh. Service was very fast. Receieved miso soup, ten nigiri, and a hand roll. They hooked up the otoro! Great experience.
This was the first time trying Sushi Enya. We got great service, the food came fast, and tasted as good as it looked. We ordered four special rolls and they were all delicious.
Every time I'd come to Los Angeles with my dad for conventions, work, etc, we'd go to Mr. Ramen for a bowl of the Fried Chicken Ramen. Never did I find anywhere else that made one like it. Portions are great, prices are good, and when you're done, you have the beautiful Little Tokyo to explore. We were helped by Jack and the wonderfully kind woman who seated us. Jack has the BEST attitude, and I loved chatting with him about the restaurants history a bit. We had a truly amazing time, and it was wonderful to see that Mr. Ramen was not only still strong, but that their quality hadn't dropped. My wife took home the rest of her miso ramen and is heating it up now. Wish we could come back more! See you guys next time!
They've got noodles and doodles! They have a awesome variety of Ramen and food. I've been the few time before. I like the fried chicken ramen. You could also draw on paper other colors pencils and crayons however you like whether you put it up in the restaurant or take it home.
Among the best spots for ramen in LA, period. Tried curry for the first time here, damn good. Tonkotsu ramen was outstanding, noodles were the perfect texture, building itself is nice and cozy, cool drawings all over the wall, felt very authentic and community-driven, little touches like that make you enjoy the food more. Very pretty inside, very pretty and tasty food, reasonably priced, amazing 🍜❤️❤️❤️ WILL come back!!
I eat out there once a month, sometimes twice since I loved that place & always eat the fried chicken ramen, delicious & I'm pretty impatient when my family is slow to order since I want food now to make sure it'll be on time & it's amazing no matter what. Never got tired of eating it & if I could eat it everyday then I would since it feels joy & actually makes me full no matter what especially the texture & how it's done while I always post it on my story. I wish I could learn the recipes to try to make one my own to be exactly like their magical ramen.
This place is wonderful. The food was delicious and wonderful. The interior feels comfy. There are shikishi boards and little notes with hand drawn doodle and stickers on the wall and restroom. It's lovely to look at and I recommend stopping and getting a ramen or bento. I want to come back here
Cozy, v friendly & good late night food. One of the better ramen places in LA. (The best ramen is approx 4 doors down but there was a wait list so came here) Don’t be distracted by the area, authentic food! Sauce on those beans are delicious! Dumplings were nicely plated. Sauce on the chicken (pictured) v good & items in expensive
If you’re in the area and are looking for a place that is open late, this is the perfect place. It was homey and the service was splendid. The staff was super accommodating and even though we came a little late (sorry) they still made us feel welcome. It was a super cold night so the ramen was perfect. Most of us ordered a number 31 which comes with ramen, gyoza, and the curry rice for around $14, which to me is an amazing deal considering how much food that is. The ramen is huge! Everything tasted super delicious and felt very homemade and flavorful. It was my first time having curry rice and it was so good. My friends also got some of the fried chicken, and that was super good! I will definitely be making this a stop whenever I’m back in this area, and highly recommend supporting this spot!
Seating for about 35 in total with no large tables, and best suited for groups of up to 2-6. Street or nearby paid lot parking, and they take cash and card. I have had the miso, shoyu, spicy miso, and kimchee ramen here and everything has been delicious. I have visited several times and will return again. Not only is the grub good, but the service is stellar. The menu hosts a few more options than I typically see, it is best described as typical ramen house offerings. There is a limited kids menu, offering ramen and rice. Hot sake and hot green tea (mild genmai cha) can also be had! Recommended.
This is the Little Tokyo outlet of Sushi Enya. The place is on the same street as the popular ramen place. We orders the 18 piece sashimi set twice and the chef was thoughtful enough to put different fish slices on the two orders. We also tried their specialty eel roll which is served on a very long dish since eels are long? Quality of the fish are quite high and attention to details are there. There are not many tables so it gets crowded. Usually there is a wait so suggest to arrive early (5PM) or use table reservations. They have a cancellation fee if you make table reservation. There is no parking on site so you have paid street parking or paid parking structure near by.
Came here for dinner in a group of 7 on a Friday night. We had to wait for an hour to get seated since we had a large group with no reservation. Indoor seating only. They have a omakase option but we all opted for a la carte. I had a chirashi bowl which was quite filling and had a lot of fish. I got green tea which came with free refills. Service was friendly and there are gendered restrooms in the back. Metered street parking. Credit cards accepted. It’s a classy spot to eat high quality fish.
Pretty cute lil spot! Came on a weekday around 6pm so it wasn’t too busy and conveniently during happy hour (which is 5:30-6:30)! I’m vegetarian and there were some pretty decent options. Loved the vegan green man and the Japanese potato fries were pretty good, but could use a dipping sauce like sriracha mayo or something. Shishito peppers were good as well!
I've been coming here randomly since 2008 and I'm very happy to know Mr. Ramen is surviving in recent years beginning with March 2020, then the summer of 2020, inflation, tariffs, the most recent rioting in Little Tokyo but most importantly the way businesses in Little Tokyo are being treated as traditional Nisei businesses are being forced to relocate out of Little Tokyo. It's the same Mr. Ramen you would walk into in 2008, being greeted, getting seated and hearing the Reggae music playing in the background. The window spot facing towards 1st Street has always been the spot I sit in. As for my recommendations I would go with beef or fried chicken ramen with extra noodles, but the fried chicken ramen is better. And I would go with the beef or chicken cutlet curry (pictured here). I have never had anything else on their menu besides the miso soup. I hope this place stays forever as nostalgic businesses in Little Tokyo are disappearing and Little Tokyo small businesses with Nisei roots need our business now more than ever. 🎋
Mr. Ramen is a ramen place in Little Tokyo. The service was fast and good. They have a lot of combo options to choose with good prices; you could get ramen + curry rice + gyoza in less than $20. I got fried chicken ramen. I think their foods were good, even though not the best, I give it a 7.5/10.
This place is a gem in Little Tokyo! We’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The gyoza is always crispy and flavorful, and the ramen—especially the tonkotsu—hits the spot every time. Rich broth, perfect noodles, and just the right balance. The vibe is cozy, the service is solid, and it’s one of our go-to spots when we’re in the area. Highly recommend!
The ramen was great and tasteful. The staff were pretty nice and friendly. However, we did receive the drinks before other incoming patrons, and after our ramen arrived. The gyoza came towards the end when my bf and I were full, so we didn't get to enjoy that portion as much. Everything else was good 👍
You can find better sushi place. Price is even more expensive than other better sushi restaurants. Sushi Enya doesn’t have variety of fish, it seems like its kain target customer base is not Asian. If you are willing to spend this money and experience better sushi, try Sushi Gen or Hama Sushi. Sushman and clerks are very kind and professional.
The fish is fresh and tastes delicious. The prices are crazy though for the rolls. Almost 30 dollars for one roll. I can get a better roll for cheaper. They are always awkwardly cut too. I come here all the time. I think I’ll just sticks with the crispy rice and albacore sushi pieces. At night they also spray this cleaning solution while cleaning and wrapping up. It’s so overpowering that it’s makes the dining experience terrible. If go ill go before 9.
I came with my sister, her son, and my two sons. Had the Pork Ramen, the Fried Chicken Ramen, and one of the Bento Boxes. Even though the restaurant looks a little run down, I figured that it had to be good since it's in Little Tokyo and they have been in business for 30 years or so. Not the best ramen I've had, but it was OK. The flavors were just not rich. The taste was bland. After we ate, we wondered around the main plaza in Little Tokyo and saw a couple of nicer places, similar prices, with good choices and far better looking. The next time I come, I probably won't be coming back here. I will try to get into one of the main plaza restaurants.
Fish quality is great really. But this is only worth it if you get nigiri or sashimi and even then I feel it’s a bit expensive for the area. Do not get any rolls because you will be skimped out on sushi. I ordered the rainbow roll and had tiny thin see through pieces, ik they won’t be as big as a sashimi piece but still this is insane because ik a few sushi places in la for slightly cheaper w bigger chunks on the rolls. Sushi enya is not worth it
I bought the chicken ramen with bamboo shoots for $18. The Ramen had so many sesame seeds that it swamped my bowl and the taste. It's just a salty and sesame mess that makes it hard to taste any chicken or bamboo shoots( which it didn't have ). It was just a horrible experience with the food. As soon as I tasted it, I felt disgusted and didn't dare to finish my food. What made it worse for me was when I was trying to explain to the employee why I didn't like the food. The employee proceeded to correct me and tell me that I'm wrong. He said, " This miso soup that we used here is salty, so your taste is wrong. " I was left speechless, and I paid full price for a meal I didn't enjoy or get to finish. I left a picture of my meal and my bill in the bottom. There is a smaller bowl I used to try to fish out as many sesame seeds as I could to no avail. I tried my best to get as many details in the photo so anyone could see the mess I tried to feed me. Do not come here. The quality of this establishment's food and its customer service has gone down in value incredibly. I will not be returning, and neither should everyone else looking to enjoy a good Japanese meal.
