This place is always been really good. When you go, ask for a 911 roll. It has jalapeños in it so if you don’t like spicy food, you probably shouldn’t get it. But it will probably be the best role you’ve ever eaten. It’s not on the menu. When I first moved to Lubbock, I was trying to find a sushi place that would make a role that I like. None of the other places I went by would do it except Hayashi. That’s where my 911 roll came from.

We have eaten at Hayashi many times for many years & it’s always good BUT today it was EXCELLENT!!! My hubby, bonus boy & I all agreed that every aspect today was the BEST it’s ever been. Jesus was our server & we didn’t catch our cooks name, but he was GREAT as well!!! Everything was done in a prompt & professional manner. When our server was busy at another table, a different server made sure our drinks were refilled! We’ve always enjoyed Hayashi but just wanted yo give a shout out to them today for making today our BEST experience to date!!!

Beautiful restaurant with a koi pond going through the center of it. The chefs are entertaining and the food is excellent. The servers are fast to refill your drinks and ask if you need anything. I highly recommend this establishment.

Who doesn't love dinner and a show?!? This is one of my new favorite habatchi spots. Our waitress and the comedic chef were awesome! The chef made us a special sauce *chefs kiss* Sooo good y'all!

My husband and I have have been visiting Hyashi on 82nd for over 19 years and have been so happy with the food, service and atmosphere. I know in the last couple months there have been LOTS of changes. We went in this past Monday night, sat at our place at the bar and the place had a totally different feel. We found out people are leaving left and right because the new manager/owner is making so many changes. You will see her in the restaurant, doesn't talk to customers( which Monday night were very few) . She( name begins with L), stood right in front of us, never spoke. Too many employees have voiced how unhappy they are there and are leaving. This is not the same restaurant it has been in the past. Sadly, we will either go to Hyashi Downtown or find another sushi spot. Owner needs to take quick notice of what is going on there or she may loose her restaurant. 🍣

The service and food here is great but the fountain drinks are terrible. The mix between carbonation and syrup is way off, way too much carbonation. The orange Fanta tastes perfumey. Please have someone test and fix your ratios.

The food was spectacular. From the appearance of the restaurant and the grill stations. They even have a real koi fish pond!! It was so beautiful. The wait staff was amazingly patient and kind and very attentive the whole time my family and I enjoyed our dinner. The chef preparing our food was funny and had jokes and interacted with every person at the table and put on an awesome show for our food. He even gave tips for making this style of food at home! The food was absolutely delicious with just enough flavor and portion size. I would highly recommend this location to anyone wanting hibachi!!

Highly recommend! This is a great place to take your whole family, have a date night, meet up with your group of friends or even go solo because everyone at your table are always friendly! It's for absolutely everyone. There isn't one thing in the menu i have had that I didn't like from Appetizers to Entrees & anything in-between! Hyashi on 82nd reminds me of the old Tokyo restaurant on 50th, which was my absolute fave! So now Hyashi is my favorite! 😍

I've been there a few times. The service has differed but mostly good. The food is grade A. I haven't had a bad meal there. Only negative thing for me is sitting with other people. Its not always pleasant.

I went with my mother and brother today to celebrate my visit to Texas, my mother's birthday, and Mother's Day. The staff noticed my mother getting out of our car and with her walker and came to open both doors for her. They had us seated immediately, assisting my mother by ensuring a clear path the whole way to our seats. Our waiter was great and took good care of us, and our hibachi chef was amazing. All the staff took care of us today and went above and beyond the standard I expect. I extend my gratitude to the hosts, wait staff, and cooks who made our visit simply incredible.

This place is amazing; however, it all depends on who you get a your cook. We recently went for lunch and we had an older man cook got us and he did a really awful job. The rice was not cooked how we usually liked it. The vegetables were hard and not a little softer. Since I spent over $100, I figured I would at least eat the meal. My wife and son agreed that it was all under cooked.

Delicious food - drinks were amazing as well. We opted for the show, even though we have seen it like 20 times - it's just fresher that way, when they make it right there. Food is always delicious here. They only thing is the front reception girls were not as friendly as should be for us. It was raining that day and we were running in to get out of the rain and they were kinda put off that we got the floor wet. Anyway, the place is always clean and beautiful inside with the koi pond and little bridge. Great good.

The one thing I love and you rarely get is a server that will bring you more drink without asking. If my glass is almost empty and I still have food on my plate, yes, I would love a refill. Our server was on the spot with the drinks. Our cook, as usual, was very good and the food was great. The only thing I don't like is that a person does not have much room to pass anyone on the way in or out. It is always crowded, and tables are close together. I get it. More tables more people. I'm not mad. I'm just saying why the atmosphere was 4, not 5 stars.

Phenomenal service and food. It was kind of busy when we arrived, but we were still seated in a reasonable amount of time. The "show" was a little bland but our table was verbally active so there wasn't much attention being paid either way. Food was delicious, I have a hard time finishing my servings but obliterated my plate with ease. Our server was attentive and made sure all drinks were constantly fresh. I'd give 10 stars of possible.

I've taken my family here several times. It's fun, the food is good, and the atmosphere is very enjoyable. Shock warning for little kids, when the chef makes a huge flame on the grill, it's a little intimidating, but honestly it's the best part! I highly recommend coming here for the Hibachi experience. Very cool.

Our food was delish we all got bento boxes sat in the restaurant part of the store. Our waiter Josh was extremely attentive and was bringing us refills without us asking! I will come again because of his service today!

Visited one of our favorite restaurants in Lubbock tonight! They never disappoint! The service was exceptional and the food was delectable!! If you are looking for a great place for a date night or even a family dinner this place is perfect! A must if you are a fan of sushi, my favorite is the Lava Roll!

I was impressed on how quickly we were sat for a party of four. The waiter who attend us made sure our glasses of drinks were always full, and made sure he had considered every one’s orders, even a last minute add on. Food was absolutely delicious, the bento I had ordered was the salmon and would definitely recommend on going back.

Hayashi is excellent, rolls are always beautiful and tasty, wrapped well and at the best temp. The Jay Roll is the best but the all of them are excellent. Hibachi is generous sized and always hot. Lychee sake is super good! Get there early or call in for take away.

If you love a great Japanese experience, this is the place to go. You have two choices, one you can either sit at the grill to watch the chef cook your meal or you can sit at your own table. I promise that you will not go away hungry either! They have devoted two pages of their menu to all the different types of sushi roll as well. There is definitely going to be something in there that you're going to love! Their bento box meals are really good too, unique in that I've never seen anyone else do that. We ate at our own table, not at the grill but I can imagine how exciting the grill experience must be. The food here is very good, you really have to try it out if you like japanese. The service was excellent, our waitress was very knowledgeable and gave her personal recommendations for the things that she liked which did not disappoint. What a great place to eat in Lubbock Texas, we will definitely be back!

Being in lubbock sushi I hard to come by this is one of two places I would recommend going. It's a classic hibachi grill and dine in restaurant. Is it anything special? No. Will you get a solid dinner at a fair price yes. On tuesday and Thursday they have two rolles for $22 deal which is a great deal when you order two speciality rolls.

We had a great experience here as well as great food. They are not skimpy on their portions! They entertain while cooking, include the children in the fun, and are quick with the service and food. Prices are great with your food portions! Some can be way too hot inside, but this establishment keeps a good temperature. Highly recommend.

My family and I enjoyed our time here. This was our 3rd visit and the best thus far. Our waiter Emerson was interactive and kept our family entertained. He told some really great jokes and had us laughing all the while making our meals. My toddlers enjoyed the show as well and though they are picky eaters, they enjoyed the food. My family also enjoyed the food. It was a great dining experience overall.

As classy a Japanese hibachi restaurant as you can expect in Lubbock, with friendly and personable staff. The decor has fun attention to detail and the awards of this location are well deserved. It's worth taking pictures every minute of your visit to capture all the special moments that are over so quickly. Make sure all the members of your party are present before getting a table for hibachi service.

I had a pick up order on New Year’s Eve, proportion of the hibachi order, looked similar to a kids order… I was kind of frustrated, it was hard to get through to the manager, but when I spoke to Zach, the manager, he told me that he would give me a full refund… Even though the sushi that I ordered was really good, the hibachi was just not what it usually is… Thank you for Zach making the order right, and giving me a full refund. I know they were probably totally busy on New Year’s Eve, and Zach handled it perfectly

Our food was amazing! The fried rice was seasoned beautifully, and the Hibachi chicken was deliciously cooked, the salmon was perfectly cooked, the scallops were cooked well but not overcooked, and were flavored wonderfully. Our server( didn’t catch her name sadly) she was amazingly fast and quick with our drinks and appetizer and as well with refills. All around great server, our chef was amazing super friendly and had a great chat while he was cooking our food, had an amazing time! Great experience! Definitely will be coming here again soon, and definitely would appreciate having the same people serve us again! Would 100% recommend coming here for an amazing meal and experience!

I took my sister and her kids there for her birthday and we had such a great time. Our waiter Nick R. always made sure our glasses were full and we had everything we needed. Our chef, Emerson, had us all rolling with his jokes. It was dinner and a comedy show all in one. I strongly recommend Emerson if you go there.

Delicious. We sit at the grill. Order the filet mignon and shrimp(about $27) tender steak and served with fried rice and vegetables and of course the salad and soup beforehand. We order an appetizer called "Starfish" , it's just shaped like a star but sort of jalapeño popper type appetizer. Very delicious. They do carry saki. Not my thing so I don't know how great it is.

I got the box it's like a sample box of everything and the sushi wasn't 🍣 like paid for sushi ...next time I'm paying fir the real deal idc 🤷🏾‍♂️ if I pay more .I was heart broken 💔 when I saw the real stuff from table across from me... it was my 1st time and I thought what's wrong with a little taste of everything 🤔..but nope it didn't even look like the picture..but my server was amazing

Food was well prepared and the cook was very professional. Waiter made sure all of our drinks were refilled without us having to ask. Parking was a little tight but that was expected as it was the weekend and everyone was outside due to being trapped indoors because of the "freeze" that just went away. Masks were worn by all of the staff and everything was clean which shows that they care about their store and their customers. I will be visiting there very often and If you are looking for great food and atmosphere in Lubbock, You will enjoy them too.

I ordered the yellow fin tuna sashimi as an appetizer and enjoyed scallops and fried rice from the Hibachi grill. The food was fresh and expertly done. I had to wait for a spot at the grill as the lunch crowd is big and you could tell they were understaffed to take care of everyone quicker. 7/13/22 Update: Stopped in for an early lunch (11:30) and the place wasn't crowed and the service was great. I ordrr the Yellow fin tuna sashimi as an appetizer to go with the Sashimi lunch special - all fresh and the tuna was buttery soft with a creamy texture that melts in your mouth.

Solid sushi restaurant. I ordered the chicken teriyaki dinner bento box. The tempura shrimp and veg was on point, and I enjoyed trying shrimp shumai for the first time. I'm giving it four out of five because of the slower service and for the chicken teriyaki being dry and over cooked. Still the best sushi I have had in Lubbock.

The chef put on a nice show with the spatula and knives. I ordered the scallops, which came out rather bland, others in our party remarked that their's was not as good as usual. Service was super great and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

Great experience. The environment is welcoming and clean. They have a koi fish pound to set a scenery. My waiter's first day did an amazing job checking up on my table a few time. I ordered the mango lobster sushi and I'd say it is decent. I did not have much lobster as I thought, mostly filled with rice. Sauce was a delightful and good.

They have a great selection hibachi food, my daughter loves the soup it comes with. I think maybe the chefs should learn some new tricks and if they offered yum yum sauce than it would improve the overall ratings

We are definitely.goimg here from now on for our Hibachi needs. The ambiance. The service. The flavors were top notch. Absolutely loved our chef. We visited for a going away dinner for a dear friend & they did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back. Pictured are: California roll Hibachi steak w/fried rice (no veggies) Hibachi steak (med rare) w/ fried rice & veggies Hibachi with salmon & fried rice. Each Hibachi dinner is served with soup & salad 🥗 Be prepared to walk over a koi pond. Very neat feature of the restaurant.

A great hibachi place in town! Fairly inexpensive for the type of food and the environment is great. I have had a couple times where my steak was a tad overcooked otherwise I’d give 5 stars!

The food was really good. The service was pretty good for being lunch and the atmosphere was a little noisy but that is normal for the level of busyness. I definitely recommend coming for the food and come earlier or later to bear the crowd if needed.

Food is always great , Chefs are talented and cooks everyone meat to their liking without fail that I've seen . My one complaint is they won't/ don't celebrate birthday and won't do anything for them , unlike the hayashi I went to in Dallas where they did more than enough for a ladies birthday who was seated at our table. Also when there is more than enough seats available please leave at least one chair between separate parties , it's beyond awkward and uncomfortable bumping elbows and touching knees with a stranger right next to you.

We didn’t have the good experience I’d say. Maybe we were there at the last minute that’s why! We took scallop & shrimp mixed rice, & shrimp rice. The presentation was 8/10 for the mixed bowl & 5/10 the shrimp rice. Taste was good but we didn’t get the fresh taste unfortunately. Maybe our badluck😓

We went for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon arriving around 11:45, there was no waiting and only one Hibachi table seated. The hostess was extremely rude upon entering. She hatefully stated that our small party would not be seated until all persons were IN the building, which is understandable, and I told her my husband was parking the car, would be here shortly and she said very loudly... "Well, you will just have to wait!" No one was in front of or behind us at the time. I didn't mind waiting but her attitude was not acceptable. My husband arrived about a minute later and we were seated immediately. No words were spoken and she returned to the front door. This was a very bad first impression and we considered leaving but had good service in the past and decided to stay. Our waitress Lorah A. was outstanding! She took our orders very quickly and the food was brought out in a very timely manner. The cook was a great, making conversation with every person at the table. The food was good for the price, however part of my fried rice had several large clumps of cold rice mixed in that we're not edible. There was plenty to eat and we still had leftovers to take home. Overall a good experience but the hostess at the front door needs an attitude adjustment. It set the tone for a bad lunch experience, but the sweet disposition of the waitress and the hibachi made up for her!

I’ve been coming here for years and I always enjoy getting their bento boxes. However, the last several times it wasn’t as good as before. The salmon portion is getting smaller and thinner. The sauces taste different and weird yet the price for the bento box went up to almost $21. It’s no longer worth it.

Went for lunch there were plenty of open tables and a large bar. Place seemed a little outdated which matched the food 😄 The Sake was good and so were the DosEquis. My water cup was filthy so I didn't drink it. The mushroom soup had a real odd taste to it, seemed like it had beef broth or old leftover fried onion rings in it. The salad came with the dressing already on it which was funky and looked to be curdled. We didn't eat it and really wish he would have asked if we wanted it before bringing it. I ordered chirashi plate. The rice was fantastic and most of the fish was decent. Some of the fish you could tell was not fresh so here is to hoping I don't get sick. Also they put so much parsley on as a garnish. Like I said outdated.. we are not in the 80s anymore. I took a pic with it on and off. It definitely looks better without it, I mean it has enough color already so Save some money, water and plants and just don't use it. The sushi roll I ordered was decent, did not have enough eel in it for my taste but it was good. My husband gas the hibachi and 2 rolls. He was stuffed lol. He said the hibachi was decent. I tried both of his rolls, one had no flavor whatsoever and the other was decent. This plates were so worn out along with the tables and chairs. This place needs some major updating. I think if we got rid of the parsley that would be a great first step. The server we had was super nice. 👌

I ordered Sushi to pick up. The sushi was ready on time the staff was friendly. Once we got home and had our sushi, I was quite disappointed. The tempura shrimp inside was so cold and seemed like it was cooked the day before. Overall, the roles were very average.

The service was great, food was okay but my daughter felt sick before we left. We ended up having to stop to find a restroom before we got home & all 4 of us were ill. I really think that they add massive amounts of MSG - that's our best guess... Very disappointed, especially since we spent $120.00.

We went about an hour before close, and the waitress was super inattentive, I had to go to the bar several times for things like plates, hot mustard, extra sake cup, etc.... And to top it all off, she didn't even bother bringing back my $10 change, wrongly assuming she had earned a decent tip. As I work in a restaurant myself, I most certainly would have tipped that and more if the service was even close to acceptable. The food was amazing, but we will not be coming back to this location again because of the way we were treated.

Sat at the counter a for quick meal. There is a koi pond directly behind and other diners allowed their children to scream and taunt the fish making the atmosphere miserable for dining. The staff did nothing. I actually had to turn around and ask the kids if they could maybe not YELL indoors.

Unfortunately, after trying better Japanese restaurants in Lubbock, the novelty of being served hibachi-style doesn't outweigh the disappointing quality of the food. I ordered bento box A, which comes with teriyaki salmon, tuna and salmon sushi or sashimi, shrimp shumai, and vegetable and shrimp tempura. My issues with the items: the salmon was overcooked and chewy and lukewarm, the sashimi was fine but the tuna felt recently defrosted and very wet(?), the tempura was cold by the time my meal arrived (even if they were wanting to bring everyone in my party's food at the same time and the tempura was cooked earlier, this was disappointing to receive), and the shrimp tempura was done in a different style with panko breadcrumbs as opposed to typical tempura breading. Aside from that not being my preference, this did not taste fresh and the shrimp was sadly tough and chewy. Not sure if the issues with the temperature of my items was due to lacking service or the cooks not timing things properly, but compared to places like Hokkaido and Yanagi which clearly prepare their food fresh, have better flavor, and serve customers quickly (for the same price!), Hayashi was subpar. Fun atmosphere, but definitely not where I am going for quality Japanese food in the city.

This is our favorite place to go to treat ourselves for a meal. We went on a Saturday at 2:30 in the afternoon. Food was okay but definitely not what we are used to. This would have been fine if we didn’t have the worst server ever. He was rude and did a terrible job. No refilled our drinks, completely ignored the table behind us. They were steady but no busy but all the bar and several tables were sitting dirty. Staff was too busy watching a football game. Very disappointed for a $75 lunch. Not the experience we usually have.

I don’t even know how to say it, we have always been huge fans of this restaurant. The service and atmosphere were really disappointing. After waiting for over 20 minutes to be acknowledged after being sat at our table by a hostess, we still waited over 30+ minutes for our sushi to be served. Took over 2 hours (including wait time) for sushi on a Monday night. Restaurant was full, but we had 2 servers walking right in front of our table the whole time. We had to get our own drinks from the bar, the restroom was in disrepair (I fixed a gross toilet) and we were never visited by management to address the shortcomings of the staff. One of the servers did offer to buy a round of drinks for us, that was kind of him. I don’t know what has happened to this location in the last 3 months, but until the management and service is addressed, we won’t be back.

Arrived at this location around 11:30 on a Sunday and it was quite busy. Looks like a happening place. I was told that there would be a 15 to 20 minute wait, which I was okay with because I had enough time. 25 minutes later I get set up my table right across from the bar and my server came up to me and took my drink order and came back to the table fairly quickly with my drink and to take the rest of my order. I ordered the hibachi steak and the server asked me how I would like my steak cooked and he went back to the kitchen to turn in my order. 30 minutes later he returns to my table with a salad and some broth and says I'm so sorry.I forgot and proceeds to tell me that my meal should be coming out any minute that they were waiting on fresh rice. Nearly 20 minutes after that, he brings a meal to my table, and it is not at all what I ordered and by that time, I was already out of time because I had an engagement scheduled for 2 o'clock. I can't rate the food.Unfortunately, because I was not able to eat.What I ordered however the salad and the sauce on top of the salad was amazand the broth was really good. I just wish that I had had the opportunity to try what I had actually ordered and I probably would have given a better review.

If you want sushi, fine. If you want hibachi fun, go anywhere else. We came here to celebrate my daughter’s 15th birthday and left very disappointed. The sushi was great, but that’s where the positives ended. Our hibachi chef barely engaged—no fun, no show, just cooked and left. Drinks ran empty multiple times, service was slow, and the noodles never came until after the meal (cold and clearly sitting under a lamp). The worst part was the birthday. Instead of helping us celebrate, the server dropped our cake in the box on a cluttered table with plates and a knife, then walked away. No cleanup, no effort, no acknowledgment. We had to sing to our daughter ourselves while staff ignored us. We’ve celebrated birthdays at many hibachi restaurants, but this was by far the worst experience. Great sushi, decent steak, but the service and atmosphere were terrible. We won’t be back.

Went in this afternoon to have dinner with family and was told to wait a couple of minutes so they could clean a table for our party of 4. However, 3 other parties of two were taken to their tables before we heard anything. Then a party of 6 came in and were sat before us as well. We asked the host if they remembered we were still there waiting because it had been 30+ minutes of waiting on a table to be cleaned at this point. The host said it is still being cleaned and rolled her eyes at us, at which point we decided to go elsewhere. The host staff is incredibly rude and show poor customer service. I would give 0 stars if it were an option.

No matter what time we come in we are made to wait over an hour to be seated. The hosts are rude they never come back over to update us on why we’re sitting and waiting so long. Mind you others are being zipped right in and to a table. We finally were seated an hour before closing and felt rushed to order. Plus, my daughter picked this place for dinner because she wanted Habachi it was her birthday. We’d of left if it hadn’t been for her. 👎🏼 for me. This isn’t a coincidence this seems done on purpose each time.

I called to place an order and was immediately met with aggression from “Jay” who must work in the back, I’m unsure what is going on but he hung up on my partner taking his anger out on him for assuming we were callers before placing prank calls, but no we just wanted to order our Bento Boxes. I had literally only called once after my partner did. This was completely unprofessional behavior from “Jay” and when I spoke to him he took my order but then hung up did not give me a total and when i called back furious all he did was try to talk over me. Completely a waste and glad I did not waste my money! Edit: I would like to explain that my partner called once and I called twice we called a total of 3 times, once to place the first order but then you asked my partner if they had called before and used this number asking if you had “jap sauce” and stating you could not fulfill our order because you take offense to that. I commend you for standing up against racism but again we were not those callers and I will attach our call logs to prove we did not! I have been nothing but a fan of Hayashi for years but to be met with this accusation out of no where was insulting and left me heated, so when I witnessed this interaction I called back immediately, and straight to the point of what I wanted because this was not a joke I wanted my food! I dont know how you can claim we called before using this number and making these racist remarks but again I just wanted my damn Bento Box C! I would not have wasted this much time or energy on a review but I need it to be known to the owner that we were never the ones harassing you to begin with maybe it was bad timing but I didn't get what I wanted. May you not take assumption on the next guest.

Waiter only check on us 2 times. When I asked for a refill she looked very annoyed. Hibachi cooker was very rude when I told him (nicely) I was missing something on my plate he continued to blame it on me when he is the one reading the order? Manger wouldn’t even come talk to us. Poor management and Poor attitude from workers. Steak was cooked well done when asked for medium rare. Paid more for double rice just to get the same amount of rice everyone else got.

The food is great! But they don't keep their word on being responsible for injuries that have happened there at the restaurant. My sister and I fell, my sister is ok. Unfortunately I was NOT they were aware of the situation and said they would pay for all the medical bills. Still til this day they still have not paid for anything! They had mopped the floor, no signs were put up, that was the reason for the injury. Just everyone be aware of their floors, they are very slippery!

Would love to talk about the food, but we couldn't get that far. Walked in on a Monday night. Not terribly busy, had a party of 6 for just dinner not hibachi. The hostess looked at her dinner room and said " Oh we can't fit 6 people in our dinning room..." I don't know if she expected us to change to a hibachi table, but we had really been there for sushi. Anyway we said thanks anyway and started to leave when we saw the hostess rolling her eyes and laughing at us with others. Cute. This did not look like a tiny restaurant. She also did not advise of a wait time or say there was a special event that there dinning room was reserved etc. We absolutely would have waited. Anyway we won't be back, and are advising our friends/family.

Dried up disgusting food 🤮 the egg rolls taste like they just came outta a refrigerator! The waiter was behind the front counter in a conversation over 15 mins. This place really went down hill. Every stack of plates had dirty ones including ice bowls and spoons. My son ate the seafood part of the buffet and got sick! Thanks for ruining his birthday!

Filet mignon was more like a sirloin very tough! The fried rice and vegetables were tasteless! The hibachi cook kept sneezing and was very messy! Very bad lunch! We will not be going back ever!!!

I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for as long as they’ve been open, but after tonight I will not be back. My boyfriend and I sat at the grill and ordered Hibaci Filet, as we have once a week for the last 6 months. However, what we were served was a classic strip steak. Gritty, tough, and not the standard filet we have been eating there for months. Meanwhile, the steak everyone else at our table was served was the classic filet, we typically are served. I informed our waitress, and she let her manager know, just so that our ticket can be accurately reflected, given the huge price difference. Her manager walks over to our table and lets us know that she will be charging us for the standard filet, and that we are mistaken on the quality of filet and blamed the color of the meat. Come to find out, that was the owner, whose name starts with an L. She couldn’t even look us in the eye when explaining to us that although we were served the wrong item, we would still be charged for what we originally ordered. Safe to say, this restaraunt cares more about making an extra $40 on a meal than keeping a routine and regular customer.

I just went to pick up takeout and had I placed the bag on the driver seat. But when I went to pick it up from the seat the bag ripped as whoever packed the food up didn't close the soup container correctly and it had been spilling. The whole bottom of the bag ripped off. What I'm mad about is that both soups weren't closed correctly and spilled all over my seat.

Take out FAIL! Eating in house has always been great. Today we spent $60 for two meals. One chicken and one filet. We ordered extra vegetables also. Walked in and the hostess directed me to the bar for service. Long wait with no service. Then the portions were less than half of what they would be when dining in, but full price. Ended up with extra rice and very little vegetables on the plate. I don't suggest take out.

From the moment we walked in we were met with terrible service and attitudes from the entire staff…asked how long the wait was and we were told no wait to grab the rest of our party we come back in with the full party and now it is a 45 minute wait. We asked if the restaurant side was cooked the same as the grill and was told by both hosts with attitude that of course it would be…we then asked for silverware 3-4 times and it finally took our server grabbing it after we were waiting to eat our food….then the plates come out…every single plate is cold or luke warm. Completely inedible for 2 out of 4 plates on our table. We asked our waitress to heat up our food and she took it back. The chicken portion was a kids portion on an adult plate that you pay money for. We then get our food back it’s still cold at this point we ask for a manager….both cold plates and the chicken now smells disgustingly burnt smell like plastic….the manager “Zack” arrives at the table with no care in the world for his entire job. Laughed at the fact that we said the food was still cold and smelt his words exactly were “oh well I’ve never heard that one before” like we’re making this up for free food. We just wanted to eat something that was edible…he has a lack of care for his job as a manager he thought we were a joke and didn’t take our complaint seriously….Tried to blame the waitress when the only person who was decent in the entire restaurant was the waitress! Don’t know if I will be coming back as much as I used to….

If I could rate this place, a zero, I would. We gave them an opportunity despite seeing that they already had an issue with the table behind us due to the order not coming out in a timely manner, we were there over an hour, and the food had still not come out. They were sitting people down, attending them and serving them before us. That were there after us. The drinks are horrible. Will never come back.

Im a Texas Tech student, so I don't get to eat Hibachi very often. My family came out from town from San Antonio, so I mentioned Hayashi ( my friends have been raving about it ). They told me that they have great sushi, hibachi and very entertaining chefs. So my family and I decided try to it. We came on a Saturday night, which was busy, (Understandable). We waited for over an hour, because the hostess said they were running behind. After an hour, we finally sat at a Hibachi table, and every thing just felt rushed. The cooked didn't speak to us, no entertainment, and overall not the show we signed up for. The waitress didn't bring our sushi for over 40 minutes, and blamed it on the Sushi chefs, saying they "took their time." We asked the Hibachi chef his name, and he didn't acknowledge my question. He was a tall Mexican cook. Overall it felt extremely disrespectful, and was very embarrassing for my family to witness.

We came to this place as it has been our favorite go to place in lubbock for sushi and hibachi last night. The experience this time was horrible. We waited almost 2 hours to get in because they said that they were understaffed last night, which was understandable because it was a Friday night. BUT.....we were skipped to be seated multiple times because there was a chinese lady in the podium directing traffic to the hostesses and you can tell she didn't know what she was doing. 2 hours later and we finally sat down on the hibachi table and we asked for one of the brothers but we were told that none of them no longer worked there. I told my husband that we can go ahead and eat somewhere else but he insisted that we stick around and try it because we waited long enough. Our cook did not speak to us except for checking the order. The food was terrible and the service was by far the worst we've ever experienced here at hayashi. Management at this place has gone down hill and it doesn't look like it's going to be better anytime soon. We will be taking our business somewhere else from here on out. We will miss the brothers cooking, specially with the sauces they make. There is no more quality service here in our opinion, try at your own risk.

More of a PSA so you don’t run into the same issue we did. They no longer offer lunch specials on Fridays and don’t let you know when ordering and are still given the lunch menu. My teenager daughter and her friends went in to eat and their bills were each about $10-$12 higher than expected when ordering. Their online menu does not reflect their price increases. The lunch menu showed $17.99, online 22.99 and was charged 26.99.
