Since the shut down in July 2022, the food has been much better! decore is out dated and needs maintenance. but the buffet and drink is 15.00 so it's up to you. Personally I order meals to go.
Great food, especially if you like the buffet. Easily can accommodate friends who wont try new things, while getting to enjoy a bit of Asian-food. As a friend says... you know its going to taste good when you don't hear any English coming from the Kitchen!
Called in and it was easy to pick up an order. They even make sure to put in silverware for take outs.
I have been there twice and I love the food. I will definitely go back. The cashier made sure I had plastic ware which was nice.
Not a giant selection but I'll take quality over quantity all day. Very very good.
I used to eat here almost 20 years ago when I went to SDSU and I loved their buffet. It still is a great chinese buffet for the price. The food was warm, fresh, and they have a great selection.
If you enjoy the hottest food and the most GENEROUS portions... PLEASE do yourself the favor of eating here! In times of covid i have noticed service tends to suffer. That's not the case at KINGS WOK CHINESE..kind attentive service.. tEXCELLENT quantity and value!!
One of my all time favorites. I've had at least 10 birthdays at this place, personally. Their food is delicious, and very consistent. Good at any time of the day.
Good food, and friendly staff. Clean restaurant with a wide variety where all the food was nice and warm. Surpassed my expectations and approved by our 2 year old.
I have tried many Chinese/American restaurants from Mitchell, Huron, Watertown, to Sioux Falls. This is my favorite. Always clean and most importantly great food.
Delicious food this is the best Chinese restaurant in town I should most definitely go here more often. I have been spreading good news about this place because it is delicious and the workers are so kind. When I came in here the place was full of smiles. I could see the joy in there faces eating this delicious food. I think everyone should come here because the workers are so kind and the food is delicious. So if you’re craving for some Chinese food this is the place to go.
The cashier was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. With eyes that pierced right into my soul, and a smile that could warm my heart even in the darkest of times. I was too late, however, for on her left ring finger was a ring with a rock the size of Texas. I may never know her beyond a simple sales transaction, but I will die happy knowing that despite all of the atrocities of this life, I have witnessed true beauty. Food was good, too.
I love King's Wok buffet. The sesame chicken, the coconut shrimp, the lo mein, the crab rangoon. All of it is well made and always fresh.
A gem given the size of the city. At 14 dollars their buffet is budget friendly and large number of chicken options. Food is tasty. You get the food, dessert, drinks and ice cream. !! Sitting arrangement not he best, but the food makes up for the lack of atmosphere.
Great lunch buffet and great variety. Even has some non Asian Food. Clean dining area and friendly staff.

Super reasonably priced! The food was hot and quite good. Not as many options as some but what they put out there is quality. I didn't eat any of the dessert area but looked ok too.
My family's favorite stop in Brookings. If you like Chinese this is a great option. Delicious food. They are always bringing out fresh food to fill up the dishes.
I was very surprised about how much the buffet cost. I believe it was 12:99-13:99 (can't remember the exact amount) I thought that was an amazing price for what they offered you. The food was hot and fresh. It was a great way to try different things to see what you liked.
Absolutely love King's Wok. One of the best places in town to go for a family. Everyone is always cheerful and bright.
I think the food here is the best buffet within 100 miles of Sioux Falls. literally drive here from there about once a week for decent Chinese American food. I have tried them all around the area. Occasionally you might find a few items that are not hot and are dried out but very rarely. Instead of taking it, wait just a few minutes and they will bring out fresh hot food. For a small buffet. I compare it to those who say they offer over 100 items in some cities and none compare to the King's Wok in my opinion.
Love the variety of dishes, and the to go buffet prices are great when feeding the whole family
Excellent food at a great buffet price...Be prepared as they ONLY use disposable plates and utensils...The plastic forks and knives do make some if the dishes a challenge if you want smaller bites but, the food more than makes up for it...
I just got my delivery order.. they said 35 minutes, it was here in 20! Everything was piping hot, tasty, and plentiful. Their house soup is hearty, and you get SO much.. I'm very grateful I ordered from King's Wok tonight!! GREAT JOB!!!

Good food. clean . Good value. Better than Sioux falls buffet.
This buffet has some unique items that other buffets do not have, for example a crab rangoon that has real crab flavor in it rather than the cream cheese version you typically find and a really sweet syrupy sesame chicken. This chicken can sometimes be really tough however. Their fresh egg rolls they include with a meal you order, not the ones they use on the buffet, are some of the best I've ever eaten although the ones China Moon in Madison puts out on their lunch buffet are very good. During the dinner buffet they also have coconut shrimp which is a staple of mine along with an imitation crab entree and they've recently added fried Fish! I love seeing that on a chinese buffet. I'd rate it anywhere from 3 to 4 stars depending on my mood. I really like take out chinese and sometimes I'm in the mood for this place, sometimes not. I'd like to see them add another variety of sweet chicken such as orange chicken to the buffet along with a cream cheese based crab rangoon/wonton to the menu. The Watertown and Brandon places just trump this place in chicken selection. Friendly atmosphere. Popular amongst the local businesses in town whose employees order quite a bit from them. Popular amongst the college students due to good location. Can't go wrong with the sesame chicken. Arguably they have the most friendly employees manning the register of any Chinese place I've visited and this particular family has run this establishment quite a long time. Bottom line... I like it, I'll go there and get take out and take it home with me, but I enjoy a number of other places more because of their larger chicken selection. As a whole chinese buffets are my favorite way to eat out somewhere. I try to visit every one I can at least once.
The taste isn't overdone, and indeed it does taste like they've been honing their craft of cooking. Even picky eaters will find it enjoyable.
Decent meal for the price. We ate during a down time so the food being a little... Under expectations is to be expected at a buffet. Will definitely have to try again during a normal meal time to get a good idea of the true quality of the food.
The food is always tasty and plentiful. They have the traditional Asian buffet fare. This restaurant is very popular with SDSU students due to its proximity to campus. We used to live in the area and really miss the opportunity to dine here often.
The weekday lunch selections which they have are tasty. I thought their selection was somewhat limited as they had no seafood which I really enjoy. I believe their evening dinner buffet and they're weekend buffet include a couple of seafood dishes.
I have eaten here many times the 4 years that I have lived in Brookings. The buffet, like many Chinese buffets, is extremely hit or miss. It's all about when you go. Right at lunch and dinner the food is GREAT! Any time in between the food is old and cold. I would give the buffet 3 stars. However, I have never had a bad experience ordering out. I live on the opposite side of town and the food is always there within 30 min and ALWAYS hot and fresh. Definitely all 5 stars! When in doubt, order out!
I’ve been going to this place on occasion for over 2 decades, and I’ve seen it change over that time. Maybe around the 2010s they made the teriyaki chicken less crispy and removed the stick, eventually stopped serving chocolate (and thus twist) ice-cream, and during COVID they switched to disposable tableware and haven’t changed back since. I wish they could undo at least some of those things, but I assume they’re doing what’s needed to stay open, and I’m glad they’re still around. The food is at least more than functional for what I know about Chinese restaurants. I’m always appreciative of when food is labeled so I know what I’m getting into. To specifically note though is the teriyaki chicken, which while I’ve said before has changed a bit away from my preference, is still a primary reason I come here. The chicken doesn’t taste like much of the “teriyaki” I’ve had at other places such as Hy-Vee, as this has what I think is a plainer salty taste with a meat similar to pork, instead of the sweeter and tangier chicken that seems like.. chicken I’ve found more commonly elsewhere. (I’m not a fan of chicken, so it’s a big deal when I like it) This and another restaurant in Pipestone, MN (which I believe closed during COVID) had been the only places I’ve found so far to serve this particular style of teriyaki chicken, and I hope one day to find or receive a recipe to make it on my own. I’ve either filled my own plate or styrofoam box to go, so I have little experience with ordering off the menu, but I assume the staff will put in good effort to serve you, with the wait time being related to how many employees are available. They also have stamp cards that for your 9th buffet it’s $5 off, which at perhaps $15 normally (with self-serve soda pop) is nice but it’s not a huge draw for me. For atmosphere, it’s OK, but it’s not too much more besides. They managed to fit quite a few tables inside, and navigating can feel a bit cramped even when there’s not a large crowd. There is some artwork and such around, but you’d likely need to be looking through someone else’s space to admire it. Maybe if I wasn’t as personally attached to this restaurant, I’d only rate it overall as just 3 stars. (which is not bad from me, that means it at least serves food decently) But I’ve had history with it, and I prefer it to the micro Asian restaurants that serve the newer, “healthier”, harder, less salty, and less oily cuisine. So 4 stars from me overall, even though my other ratings would indicate only 3.3 stars. (I don’t know how Google organizes that) Here’s to hoping many more people can enjoy the food here for a long time to come, King’s Wok!

First, the good: Nice people. Cheap prices. They had Jello! The Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils took me back to the glory days of highschool lunches. The not so good: Nothing stood out as being particularly tasty. I've long believed that you can tell the quality of a chinese restaurant by the quality of their hot & sour soup, and unfortunately this place was not an exception, as their soup was sadly lacking. Highschool lunches were much better. I feel bad, as they really seemed like nice people. It just wasn't for us, even at the very low price.
You get what you pay for. For $15 you cant be upset with only 3 islands of hot food a dessert table. A drink is included in that price by the way. The food was hot, but a little bland. The syrofoam plates and cutlery didnt set the tone any better either. I did enjoy the coconut shrimp though- that was the best item I tried.
It's ok for a buffet place. The old saying, "quantity over quality" unfortunately applies. You really get a sense of that when you grab your plates and silverware that are disposable. 😬

Food was lack luster for an Asian joint. Expensive and not much variety.
I was surprised and disappointed a restaurant would use syrofoam plates and plastic silverware! Seriously? I wasn’t going to a picnic. I guess they don’t care about the environment. I highly doubt I’ll return.

Styrofoam plates don't hold well. Expected to clean your own table. Food not very warm.
The staff was distant and cold, the food was lack luster at best and there weren't any vegitarian options at all. At one point our plates where taken and set down on the table next to us and left there. We will not be returning
The food was so disgusting, nothing tasted how it should. I’ve never spit out food at a restaurant until today. I feel like any good reviews are from elderly people who cannot taste how bad that was. It was also dead quiet other than shuffling around it was a miserable place to eat.

Looking at the reviews, I came here thinking it would be a decent place to have lunch. But Man!! I was wrong in so many levels. The food has no taste of a Chinese recipe at all. It seemed like they used the same sauce for everything. I felt bad for coming here to eat. The food was really crappy. Not even a single dish was here that I could eat properly. Even the ice cream was crap. The only thing I could eat for 11.49 was grapes. Irony is even the grapes were sour.. 😂 By far, the least place I would go to eat.
Got there last nite at 8:00.....they close at 9:30. The food trays were either empty or half empty....they never put any more food out....we were treated poorly when we asked when the trays were going to be refilled....we are working on that was the reply....they were never refilled. This occurred 2-29-2020.... Be a long while before I come back... Don’t expect any food close to closing...
02/12/2020 Tonight it was horrible!!! For as much as I paid and There was hardly anything on the buffet..all that was left was scraps all dried up in the warmer pans. The only thing they had fresh was sesame chicken & beef and broccoli...never come here after 8pm...it's a wrip off!!!!!
Food is average, people are friendly, service is not up to the standard, too much business minded.
Worst Chinese food I've ever tasted. Buffet has very few entrée choices, but lots of appetizers. I've never seen any place wreck crab Rangoon but this place did. For the price they charge for a lunch buffet it was seriously substandard.
Worst Chinese buffet I have ever eaten. The food was horrible. I didn't notice the styrofoam plates and plastic silverware until we had already paid. If I had noticed right away we would have turned and ran. Waste of money.
All the bowls and plates are styrofoam, plastic silverware, and the food was not good. I have not been here in a long time and usually just order from wok n go but kids wanted a variety so went here instead. I definetly will not be back.
Definitely not what i expected when i ordered fried rice from a 4 star restaurant. I am forever being humiliated by my friends for suggesting this place.
Place used to be really good but last time I was there (9/20/22) they had Styrofoam plates, flimsy disposable plastic silverware and black ice (not the malt liquor either but mold in the ice from the machine). Would come back if they get rid of the plastic silverware, Styrofoam plates and clean the ice machine.

The food wasn't cooked all the way and it make me throw up when I went today
So sad really. This used to be a great place. I used to go here every week, then food declined a little and we got busy. But each time we returned it was a bit worse than the previous. I wonder what happened to their good cooks. This most recent time, Sep 7th, 2022, it was TERRIBLE. All the fried food was cold. Someone put way too much cornstarch into the soup to thicken it so it was gelatinous, and all but one main dish was bad. I have given them second chances so many times now in hopes they get a good cook again. This is the last time. Heartbreaking really. It was such a great place before.
