I've come with large groups several times, and it's always excellent. Both the food and the service. I don't understand the large number of negative reviews this restaurant has. They're not real. Highly recommended.
First time at Arturo's Cañaveral with family arriving from the provinces. This isn't lunch, this is a military campaign of flavors... and of course, we won. The champion cachopo should come with a warning: impossible to finish without surrendering or calling for reinforcements. The rest of the dishes are equally dangerous... you start nibbling and end up happily signing the surrender. The service was so attentive and fast, it almost seemed like they were reading your mind. Conclusion: this restaurant isn't visited, it's conquered. And be careful, because once you enter its territory, there's no turning back.
Editing my review. I previously gave it 3 stars... now it's 5. Previously (3 years ago) the desserts weren't homemade. Now they are. The change is incredible, and everything is delicious. Rice with lobster... pork rinds... ahi... cheesecake! Everything is a 10/10. Previous review: We had a great meal, the cachopo was delicious and the bravioli potatoes too... The waiter's service was a 10/10. The only thing is that the desserts leave a lot to be desired. This is a constructive review. Homemade desserts would be a hit. Not frozen ones...
Large portions. Food was delicious. 👍👍
The food was very good; we had the weekend set menu for 32 euros, and the cured meats and everything else were delicious. The prawns were a bit overcooked and difficult to peel. The meat was spectacular. Only one bathroom for such a large restaurant seems a bit crazy... Otherwise, a good atmosphere. That said, a waiter should be able to tell the difference between a San Marcos cake and a lemon cake.
We were a large group, which is quite difficult for the waiters to manage, but they took great care of us. The food was delicious; the cachopo was spectacular in both varieties we tried. The patatas revolconas with torreznos and guindilla peppers, the grilled vegetables, the patatas bravioli, the two types of octopus, and other dishes I can't recall were all fantastic. The only thing I didn't like were the croquettes; they need to improve the recipe so they taste like what's listed on the menu. As for the desserts, the cheesecake was very good, but the brownie wasn't as good. It was harder than any I've had in other restaurants and had something inside that I couldn't quite identify—it was like candied orange peel or something similar. The brownie must have had walnuts and chocolate chunks. Aside from those two things I didn't like, everything else was great. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes.
A good place to eat; the portions are very generous and most of the food is quite good. The cachopo (breaded and fried veal or pork cutlet) is a very good size and tasty, but not one of the best I've ever had. The croquettes were fairly average; some were even cold. However, the pig's ear is outstanding; it comes with plenty of spicy brava sauce, and the combination is incredible. The restaurant is fine, but it's missing something to be perfect, and since it's quite busy, it's advisable to make a reservation to get a table.
***** Update We went for lunch today, Sunday, and it was wonderful. I ordered soupy rice with lobster 🦞 for two, and it was exquisite. The T-bone steak is always a hit, and we had a burger and chicken fingers for the kids. There were four adults and three children, and everyone was delighted. I've been several times, always for dinner. We love going there. The best part is the children's area; while you're eating or chatting, the kids are playing there. Besides that, the quality of all the dishes is excellent. The service is very good, except for the manager, I think, who's a bit curt... Regarding the food: - The cachopo is delicious, no matter which one you order. It's very large and comes with fries and Padrón peppers. Average price €33 (it's gone up). The meats are cooked to your liking; you can choose all kinds of cuts by weight, and they cook them to your taste. Yesterday, it was less cooked, and they didn't mind cooking it a little longer for the kids. What I didn't like much was the grilled cod; it seemed boiled, the flavor was bland, and it came cold, although they reheated it for us. Even so, I thought it was expensive. Overall, the quality was a 10/10. The price, like everything else there, is also higher; the average price for dinner is €30 per person.
We went to this place on a friend's recommendation for cachopo and ordered the "champion" (a large, thick-cut, breaded cutlet). It was really good, but a bit too breaded. We also had a delicious chorizo cooked in cider, all washed down with a good Mahou beer. The portions are very generous. The restaurant is spacious and bright. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
Yummy food
No está mal para tomar unos pinchos y cervecear
Very noisy place. Extremely careless service. As for the food, it's actually good. The portion of bravas is huge and very reasonably priced. The cachopo (a type of cachopo) was also super-sized, easily enough for three people to eat. The food was good but nothing special. I think I'd go back with a large group of friends, and given the portions they serve, it would be quite affordable.
October 2023: Unfortunately, the quality and service have dropped dramatically. We went back to celebrate my father's birthday and it was a complete disappointment. The champion puppy is no longer what it used to be; the ingredients were low-quality. The ham and fried eggs were so hard they were inedible... a few days ago we went back for a drink on the terrace and had another disappointing experience. I don't know if we'll be back, what a shame. April 2022: I'm giving it a star. We love coming here with friends. Good service, good quality. Looking at other people's reviews, they seem to be failing with the daily menu... I've tried to go three times in the last few months and it's always full. I really liked it. I'm not giving it 5 stars because it's a bit lacking in the children's audience. Despite having a ball pit on the menu, they're missing a menu for the little ones: macaroni, Cuban rice, chicken escalope... those things that little ones eat better... Although they make up for it with effort, they'll prepare a dish off the menu and will surely include something soon. They also don't have a highchair or booster seat. For the older ones, there are hearty and delicious dishes. Excellent service. I've been back a couple more times for dinner with a selection of tapas and I love it. The portions are hearty and delicious. I'll keep visiting this place.
The beer was cold, as it should be. The food is okay, although some dishes, like the patatas bravas, could be better for the price. The bar service was the weakest point: impersonal and lacking in people skills. In a bar, service greatly influences the experience, and here it detracts more than it adds.
We ate there yesterday and were quite disappointed. The cuttlefish looked like scraps and was incredibly tough. The croquettes were cold inside; in fact, we didn't even finish them. The grilled octopus was good, though. The cachopo with cheddar cheese, which doesn't really go with a cachopo (you expect a different kind of cheese), was cold, the cheese was in a solid block, and the breading was very thick and greasy. The cachopo was cold inside too. The cuttlefish sauce was from a jar, I don't know... For the prices, I don't think we'll be back. It's a shame because they have a play area for children, and if you order drinks, the tapas are great and generous. But for a proper meal, it's not worth it.
We couldn't even get a table. Since it was our first time there, I called ahead to check. There wasn't a table available until 2:30 pm, but we could get a high table. I asked if we could arrive earlier, specifying that we'd be there between 12:00 and 12:15 pm with the kids, and even if there wasn't a table available, we'd like to have a Coke while they played in the ball pit. She said we could come without any problem. When we arrived (we went there specifically; we don't live in Cañaveral, but it was a good option to meet up with a friend and her baby), we found the play area closed. The waitress was incredibly rude, saying she'd been told it wasn't open until 2:00 pm. That was definitely not the information we received. And the least she could do when she sees us with two children, ages 3 and 18 months, and a baby on the way, is apologize. Say it was a misunderstanding. At least try. She turned around just like she told us to, left me speechless, and went on doing other things. Zero empathy and respect.
The food is nothing compared to what you order. They fool you with the names of the dishes on the menu. I will not return and do not recommend. The service is ok and the atmosphere is cool but the food is much too expensive for the quality.
Terrible!!!
