I happen to stay at a hotel a block away so I noticed this restaurant every time I went out. It was popular so I googled to see if they have menu del dia. I got there at 3 p.m. on a Sunday, and it was packed. The waiter told me there was no room in the dining area but was nice enough to offer the bar. I got the rice with mushrooms and shrimp with a hint of truffle. Service was very fast and he even gave me ice for my agua con gas (This is a tip for all the Americans). I usually don’t drink beverage with ice but I didn’t want to fuss about it. I’m sure if I knew they were going to give me ice, like they customarily do in the US, I would have said “no hielo”. My first bite and all my gastronomic senses came alive. It was that good! I’m sure the dining area is much more conducive for a nice lunch and I’d probably would have lingered if I didn’t have somewhere else to go.
Enjoyed a lunch here. Main with grilled scallop with garlic. And then they offered me a free desert! I love the scallop which is perfectly cooked. The inside with a little bit raw which give a good texture. I really love this dish. The garlic is the sour one which can boost up the appetite. However when matching with the scallops, the garlic may be too strong to cover the original taste of scallop. Love the vibe and service here. Highly recommended
We don’t usually write reviews, but this place deserves one. The octopus was perfectly done, the goat cheese balls were amazing, and the cheesecake was the perfect finish. The scallops were also very good, though I did run into something hard in one of them that almost chipped a tooth - but aside from that hiccup, everything else was spot on. What really stood out was the service: fast, attentive, and genuinely friendly. We left really happy!
We had an outstanding dining experience at La Charca in Madrid. Andrea made us feel completely at home. Her service was friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. We appreciated talking about Spain and our travels with her. We started with the cachopo, perfectly crisp on the outside and packed with tender, flavorful meat and melting cheese – easily one of the best we’ve had in Spain. The oxtail was slow-cooked to perfection, falling off the bone and rich with flavor. Both dishes paired beautifully with a glass of Emilio Moro – smooth, well-balanced, and perfectly picked by the wait staff. The roasted peppers and potatoes on the side were simple but done so well, adding color and comfort to the meal. The fries dipped in the oxtail au jus was almost like a poutine. If you’re in Madrid and want authentic flavors, generous portions, and heartfelt service, La Charca is a must-visit. And if Andrea is working, you’re in for an even better experience! Make reservations ahead of time so you don’t miss out. If you time it right you can do a quick walk to Temple of Debod for an amazing post-dinner sunset. Food was amazing! However our waiter kept questioning our order and assumed that we were all sharing. Some were but others wanted their own dish. She kept trying to stop us from ordering what we wanted which is really strange. Not recommended for large groups. Our group of 6 were very uncomfortable.
A small friendly Taberna with a great lunchtime menu and very reasonable €14 Menu del Dia popular with the locals. Found this place while wandering just of the main tourist areas, full of Madrilenians lunching. Service was speedy efficient and very helpful, opted for the Menu del Dia, for a quick lunch, however the rest of the main menu looked tasty and interesting.
Brilliant menu del dia at €16 00 for 3 courses including a soft drink or wine/ beer and an apertife to round the meal off. A la carte at reasonable prices ranging between €8 for a starter and €24 for a main. Great depth of quality. Serves traditional Spanish food. Frequented largely by locals. Fresh and wholesome. Excellent friendly service. Highly recommended. Must book for lunch otherwise you won't get in. Will come back again.
We were in the mood for steak and this was recommended by hotel staff at the RIU. It's only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. If you didn't know it was there, you'd never know it existed. The wine we selected, randomly, was EXCELLENT. We chose the kilo of meat and it was perfectly cooked. It was sooo good! The service was good. It was a great eating experience that we will have to visit again on our next trip to Madrid!
The food and service were great. If you'd like to get a nice table in the evening it's probably better to make a reservation. We arrived without it and got small table close to the entrance. We got a free appetizer and goodbye drink. Paella was tasty and large - 2 hungry people were barely able to finish it. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious.
We went there with my gf during our trip to Spain. I saw the review of this place on YouTube and we decided to try their Menu Del Dia. And we were not disappointed. The food was extra tasty and the service was prompt. I wish either of us could speak Spanish to better understand the menu and to be able to communicate with the server. (We had to use Google Translate app which was slowing things down.) We also stayed at their front (bar section) without realizing that they had a better (wider) seating area. The cost was reasonable for the amount of food & drinks that they offered. We paid around 33.70 Euros for the two of us.
Went there with family and had a great time. The place came recommended from the concierge and quite honestly it was a good recommendation I was able to make a reservation and we went and immediately found the table... The place is very quaint and warm and has a real homey feeling. We started with the bread and could not stop after that. For starters we ordered warm goat cheese salad and paper salad with Tuna belly. I also ordered scallops and my son ordered grilled octopus. I have to say all the food was excellent, the tuna belly was really good. The food had a very home cooking like style and we loved it. The the main dishes came, My wife and I had monk fish, the others had turbot and grilled baby squid in squid ink. The monk fish with garlic was the most tender monk fish I have ever eaten, the turbot was excellent and my son cleaned his baby squid. Had a great meal and will definitely go there again.

Great atmosphere- ordered the risotto and it was amazing. So savory and buttery - layers of flavor. If you’re close to the plaza de Espana, give this place a try!
Oh my goodness this was fantastic! Hubby was in awe of his steak (and he’s fussy about steak) and my squid was perfectly cooked. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely stuff who put up with my rusty Spanish!

Good lunch here , place is nicely decorated, plenty of light and tables are tastefully laid Service ie very efficient and friendly Asturian food and it did not disappoint, nice octopus perfectly cooked , excellent turbot , entrecôte and a cachopo with fillet beef , well presented Rice pudding was perfect , the soufflé was disappointing and was a coulant, very different Prices are fair for Madrid , look forward to next visit
Packed with people on a weekend afternoon. We were lucky enough to get a table without reservations. We probably ordered too much for a table of four, but we wanted to try everything they had to offer. Our fav were probably the Spanish omelette and the goat cheese salad. The schnitzel although crispy on the outside, they weren’t to our liking with the ham and cheese - making them overly salty and greasy in need of lemon juice to be drizzled on top (but then maybe that’s just how Austrians enjoy their foods), and the monkfish were too rubbery for us unfortunately. The staffs were very friendly and approachable, and the place was vibrant albeit a bit loud with tables so close together.
When I entered everyone was helpful. It looks like a bar upfront, but there’s a whole seating section once you go to the back. Once seated many different waiters came around to take my order, but I ordered from one and then had to explain to the next two that I already ordered. Food comes out very fast which was nice, but maybe they could slow down to make sure it’s cooked. The app was great, but the main was cooked along the outside. Then as I got to the center the texture changed, so I opened it up to see the veal was raw. I did ask them about it, but they explained that how it’s supposed to be. Overall it’s a one and done for me, apps were good, service and people are friendly, but telling me the veal is supposed to be raw when part of it was cooked was a bit much.
Staff not smiling at all , undressing the table very quickly even if one of the guest has not finished. Risotto too expensive with only 3 shrimps and hard mushrooms. Fried monk fish not crispy ( m…
