Moratín es una joya. Un lugar pequeño; platos sencillos, pero con una gran calidad y pasión por la cocina que se nota en cada detalle. Volveré muy pronto.

Vinoteca Moratin situado en el #barriodelasletras en Madrid,es uno de esos restaurantes que jamás fallas al elegirlo para disfrutar de una buenísima comida regada por unos grandes vinos.Al frente de este acogedor sitio está Marcos que es su alma máter como chef y conocedor excelso del mundo del vino.Ayer pude disfrutar de unos cuántos platos de su pequeña pero más que suficiente carta.Sin lugar a dudas la sopa de tomate caliente con queso majorero es de lo mejor que he comido últimamente,seguimos con el clásico del local que son los puerros confitados con romescu(un top sin lugar a dudas).Y qué decir de su salmón marirado en casa…esta a la altura del que sirven en @desde1911 en cuánto a calidad.El pescado del día fue Corvina(media ración y a la vez enorme) con un punto perfecto y para finalizar el steak tartar (200 gramos) con un 7 de punto de picante que fue el colofón perfecto para este pequeño homenaje.Para vuestra información,si queréis disfrutar de varios platos os hacen medias raciones sin ningún problema.Todo ello fue regado con un maridaje realizado a la perfección por Marcos que en todos los platos acertó y he decir que el Anthologie de Heidi Schrock fue un maravilloso descubrimiento para la Vinoteca de quién les habla.Todos y cada uno de los vinos fue descorchado para las copas a un precio más que razonable.Para finalizar disfruté de su maravillosa tarta de queso.La amabilidad y buen hacer de todo el Equipo de sala,#VinotecaMoratin hace que sea un clásico en este Madrid de tantas aperturas y cierres que llevamos en los últimos años( y tanto #placetobe que se pone de moda y luego desaparece del mapa).Si quieres disfrutar de una buena comida o cena en un sitio en el que te tratan como en casa,comes perfectamente y disfrutas de su larga carta de vinos has de reservar ya.Para tu información,las reservas son solo vía telefónica y eso te dice qué tipo de restaurante vas a disfrutar…el buen trato,el producto,el disfrute y el conocimiento de este pequeño pero a la vez Gran Equipo hace que disfrutes de una experiencia maravillosa.Larga vida a #VinotecaMoratin 👏👏

Pequeño, muy acogedor y agradable. Excelente restaurante en el barrio de las letras. Carta corta, comida sencilla y exquisita. El servicio muy agradable, atento con el cocinero como maestro de ceromonias. Muy recomendable si te gustan los lugares tranquilos, acogedores donde comer bien.

Segunda visita a Vinoteca Moratín. Sin duda una de las mejores mesas que destaca entre la vorágine gastronómica de Madrid. Cocina delicada, con sensibilidad y un magnífico producto, que se trata con el máximo respeto. Adaptan raciones y cantidades para poder probar cuantos más platos mejor. Servicio perfecto. Bodega para enmarcar, con muchas e interesantes referencias de medio mundo, y una oferta de vinos a copas de las más interesantes de Madrid. Un bib gourmand de Michelin que bien merece algo más, aunque, para ser sincero, lo prefiero como está. Un solo pero: ojalá estuviera en Barcelona, me tendríais ahí muy asiduamente! Gracias!

Escribo esta reseña con la esperanza de que Marcos o alguien del equipo pueda leerlo. Somos clientes de hace muchos años y nos hemos quedado en shock al ver que ha cerrado el restaurante. Nos gustaría agradeceros los momentos tan especiales que hemos podido disfrutar gracias a la espectacular comida y maravilloso trato por parte de todo el equipo que siempre hemos recibido (especialmente a Carmen y a Marcos). Os deseamos todo lo mejor en vuestra nueva etapa y ojalá que algún día podamos volver a reencontrarnos.

Un menú pequeño pero muy acertado, una ambiente tranquilo y un personal atento pero no pesado. buenas carta de vinos y una velada buena para estar con tu pareja. Muy recomendable

La comida riquísima, no podemos destacar un único plato. Los vinos recomendados, también muy buenos. El servicio excelente, tanto el recibido por Marcos como por el resto del personal. Sin duda alguna ha sido uno de los grandes descubrimientos de este viaje y será parada obligatoria cada vez que volvamos a Madrid.

This place is cute, small, and cozy so they can’t accommodate too many guests at once - definitely make a reservation. The service and food was fantastic. They gave great wine suggestions and we were also able to do half portion of a couple items so we could try more things. My favorite item was a special croaker fish dish for the night. We tried the leeks, salmon, and beef tartare. All very good. The staff made the experience A+!

Congratulations to the owner! It is an exceptional restaurant. The food is elevated, tasty, and the service is sublime. The staff is professional and the manner of communication with customers is at a very high level. All waiters have advanced knowledge regarding the wide variety of wines they offer, but also about the culinary dishes. Before ordering the wine... you can do a free tasting of the recommended wines. The explanations regarding the origin of the wine, the aromas and the type of grapes are explained in detail by the waiters. The price-quality ratio is exceptional, and the experience in this location is identical to the dinner you have with your family. It is a location where the warmth and kindness of the staff makes you feel wonderful, and a simple dinner turns into a unique event.

Absolutely fabulous dedication to everything served. We enjoyed lunch with my wife, starting with tomato soup, leek, and octopus. My wife had cannelloni, and I had venison as main. The food was great, especially the cannelloni. The staff was very polite and dedicated. They explained the menu and introduced the food served. Wine matching was flawless.

The soup was outstanding, rich in flavor and perfectly balanced, and the tartare was one of the best I’ve ever had – fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of taste. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, making the whole experience even better. At one point, the waiter was explaining something with so much passion in Spanish that I honestly wish I spoke the language just to catch every word – it felt like part of the experience itself. An exquisite restaurant worthy of its Michelin designation. The staff and service we impeccable and extremely helpful with their recommendations. I tried the tomato soup, squid/octopus, and finished with their signature beef tartare. All were excellent choices. Portion sizes were great and the prices are very reasonable compared to other Michelin star restaurants. Their staff is very knowledgeable about their wine and can give great pairing suggestions to go with your meals. 10/10.

Executive chef owner Marcos was able to squeeze us in for dinner after a few email exchanges. He personally came out to greet and talk to the diners. Ingredients were fresh and he personally explained where he sourced from for example the fish of the day from the northwestern corner of Spain where the two seas come together and the currents make for the best catch. A restaurant in Madrid that offered the best service and hospitality. Thanks to their kind explanations and thoughtful wine recommendations, I was able to enjoy the experience in complete comfort. The food was humble in the style of Spanish home cooking, highlighting the natural flavors of the ingredients while warming the soul. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the chicken and fish dishes. It’s a pity that I couldn’t fully enjoy the meal due to fatigue from jet lag during dinner. Excellent menu. Food was fantastic with fresh flavors and creativity. The leek is their famous dish and it is a must order. I tried all the seafood dishes because they conveniently offered me half portions. Servers spoke English as well as Spanish. The dessert was excellent and I finished the meal with an excellent espresso. The owner greeted me and presented the menu with passion and enthusiasm. The experience was exquisite. Bravo!

Seems all I can do is reiterate many of the other positive reviews! One of best meals in Madrid, which given how amazing the food is in this city, is high praise. Was a wonderful lunchtime dining experience with the food and service impeccable. And this is a vinoteca so we tasted some of the 30 wines they are serving at any one time. We came to try the veal on the menu but were happily distracted with four other amazing dishes. Guess we have to go back. Oh well.

One of my best meal in Spain for sure. Well balanced meal. Best of all, chef recommendations were split between my wife and I so we can try out different dishes. We had the most appeitizing tomatoes soup to start with followed by the leek. Then we had the cod and beef tartar dishes paired with great wine! Finished the meal with the most delightful apple pie (different from all my apple pies before). Chef was patient explaining the dishes. Overall delightful meal with my wife.

My only apprehension towards leaving a review of this stellar place is that I’ll find it harder to get a table in the future. But Vinoteca Moratín deserves the praise. A perfect ambience with soft music and just-right illumination preludes a fantastic culinary experience. The menu is large enough to offer choice for those who seek it, but concise enough to let you make up your mind. The only question is which plate will you leave behind since they all sound (and are) excellent. As foreshadowed by the talented owner who narrates the menu fabulously, the plates were all excellent. My personal favourite were the cannelloni which blew my mind paired with the suggested Toro wine. The desserts were as spectacular as everything else throughout the dinner. A great close to a great meal. Many congratulations to the whole Moratín team. We’ll be coming back soon!

fabulous restaurant. passionate chef and staff. Favorite meal of Madrid. I would say to plan on having a reservation. They don’t flip tables or rush you; they turned away quite a few walk ins. I can see why they’re fully booked. Service and food can’t be beat. I thought the portions, quality of product and preparation deserved their gourmand rating for sure. The leeks are a must order.

Our last meal in Madrid and it was glorious. Good food, good wine, great service. Food - The mackerel was the highlight of the night. It was buttery soft and well seasoned, it unlike most mackerel which tend to be dry and on the hard side - My second favourite dish would be the leek confit. It was cooked to the right softness to be paired with the nutty sauce Service - the Chef introduced the menu, took our orders and recommended some great wine to paired it with our food - both white wine was divine and the red was big and yummy Environment - We sat next to the window and it was perfect. You can get a glimpse of the natural sunlight and people watch - the interior was tastefully decorated, it was warm and homely

While visiting Madrid, I came across Moratin's as a recommendation from my Airbnb host. Since I was unable to call and reserve per the instructions of their website (UK phone number issue), I emailed the restaurant and Marcos gladly accommodated my reservation request. At the start of the evening, I was warmly greeted at the door and shown to my table. The atmosphere was charming and intimate. To my surprise, many of the menu items were available to order in half-portions if you wanted more of a sampling than a full meal. I really admire this flexible option as it has the potential to decrease food waste and overeating, yet providing the possibility to try other dishes. The service was really good, though I do have one complaint. When asked about my wine preference, one of the servers told me they would bring me an option to try. The wine never came, which I assume was an honest oversight. Regarding the meal, I had the Spoon (soup) of the day, the Santoña octopus with paprika oil and cilantro about potato parmentier, marinated salmon at home with pickle vinaigrette, and the cod confit on vegetable escalibada. My favorite dish was the soup and my least favorite was the cod confit (it gave me quite the stomach ache). Overall, I thought the food was just okay, but I wasn't too impressed. Though I give the food a lower rating, I applaud the atmosphere, culture, flexibility, and the warmth/friendliness of the staff at Moratin's. I'd be happy to dine here again to try some of the other dishes and to hopefully get a more comprehensive dining experience.
