Opinions de Maxwell's Marina del Rey
Small and intimate, super friendly and best of all, great food! Best huevos rancheros that I’ve ever had ( get a sprinkle of chorizo), with good coffee and pastries. They offered to grill the blueberry muffin and whip cream, and that was brilliant. Top 5 in the area, possible the best when considering how helpful the staff is. Highly recommended!
🌹. Excellent turkey 🦃 burger 🍔 with bacon 🥓 and 🔵 blue cheese. Choose the fruit 🍓 side dish. Fresh, lots of variety. My Belgian friend loved the tofu breakfast dish. Nice experience!🌹
Delicious breakfast. Love the pancakes & sunrise sandwich. They also have a homemade salsa that goes great with practically anything.
Had the eggs Benedict with chorizo, it was excellent. Service was friendly and funny. Great atmosphere.
Amazing service!! Service was impeccable before we even entered the building! The staff helped us find a place for our bikes and helped our kids get settled. They had a ton of classic toy cars for the kids to play with and the staff was totally focused on keeping our kids happy- it was so refreshing!! Food was great!! Recommend the hash browns, eggs Benedict, French toast, Greek scramble, basically everything we tried was great!
Lovely place, all three of us got omelettes and enjoyed them. Each omelette was stuffed and well portioned. We asked for the hash browns crispy and they came properly browned on both sides. They even accommodated my mom's low-sodium request. Sal, our server, was also a delight. Highly recommend this place.
This was AMAZING!!! The best biscuit I have ever had in my life. The omelette was so freaking delicious and so was the hash browns that had its own flavor it was the most perfect breakfast and the restroom was clean and smelt great! I can’t wait to come back it felt like home! The only thing I can say it the coffee it was good but it wasn’t hot as I expected maybe they need to warm the cups with hot water before adding the coffee I think it could help
Maxine’s could not possibly be a better place for breakfast. The service is unmatched, and the food is beyond excellent. My wife and i are beyond obsessed, and our infant has been there with us for many of our meals (even while my wife was pregnant!). This place has it all - from absolutely amazing standard breakfast items (egg/meat/potato/carb) thru specialty items like their carne asada & eggs, and all are amazing. I highly recommend the 2x2x2 with their waffle and a coffee to get the morning rolling properly, but so many options will do you right that you really can’t go wrong. Don’t miss an opportunity to sneak by there asap (esp if you’ve never been!).
How did I not know of this amazing breakfast joint sooner? It’s delightful. Charming and cozy interiors. It gets packed around 11 and 12 each day so prepare to put your name down and wait. They have booth seating, bar seating and tables. It’s really a special place inside. I got their Maxwell omelette that was made with egg whites and came loaded with an assortment of vegetables, including avocado. Win. The fruit was perfectly ripe and their toast is served with whipped butter - yum. My friend got their eggs and bacon with potatoes. Hint - ask for a side of salsa if you get potatoes, it’s a magical combination. Their coffee is bottomless, their teas come served in a pot. You can get more hot water to double steep your tea leaves. Employees were very nice and let my friend and I talk for a couple hours without unnecessary interruption. Price-wise reasonable for L.A. My omelet plate and coffee came out to $15. I took half of it home for another meal later. Plenty of street parking out front for $1/hour.
We recently dined at the restaurant, and we had a very pleasant experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was exceptionally courteous throughout our visit. The food was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the well-presented dishes. We would gladly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. Overall, our visit was truly a positive one.
This place is just perfecttttt..... The service is just to good to even describe in a post. The food ohhh godddd..... It's heavenly, Sal is a great person and he will make you feel at home. They're bilingual as well. It's a must... You read me..... A MUST if you are in the LA area......
We looked up places to eat for breakfast while we were staying in the area and Maxine’s had good reviews so we checked it out. We ended up going three days in row for our breakfast because it was so good!! The food was incredible. The atmosphere is great- so cool and individual, playing awesome classic rock. The staff were also really welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend you go here if you’re in the Venice / Marina area
This is a very quaint and unique spot for breakfast or lunch. You can tell it’s been around for a while—in the best way possible. From the worn-in floors to the eclectic decor and vintage tables, everything has a warm, one-of-a-kind feel that gives the place real character. Seating options are varied: you can sit indoors at tables, at the bar on high stools, or outside on the small back patio or at a sidewalk table out front. It’s cozy without feeling cramped. The service is thoughtful and friendly, adding to the welcoming vibe. Definitely don’t miss the freshly made blueberry muffins—they’re a standout and worth the visit on their own. Outside dogs are allowed. Also, this place used to be called "Maxwell's" but it changed to Maxine's a little while back.
Food was great. Loved the steak and eggs. It was amazing. Owner and employees are very nice and friendly. Service is very satisfactory. Will cone here again cant wait.
Formally known as Maxwell‘s up until 2020 this location has been a popular breakfast spot for many decades. It can get quite busy during certain rushes, but we stopped in early this morning and did not have to wait at all to be seated. It’s quite small on the inside, but they have table, counter, and outdoor seating options. Our waitress was really friendly and everything that we ordered came out very quickly. It is a bit expensive compared to some other breakfast options, but that is most likely due to its location. Parking is also pretty easy, your best options will be in the neighborhood behind the restaurant or on Washington. They have a lot of great options on the menu, but I went with my favorite breakfast dish, which is the Eggs Benedict. I chose the Bomb Benedict because you choose your own protein and I went with the Louisiana Hot Sausage and really enjoyed it. It was pretty spicy with strong flavors and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I just loved the combo overall. I also ordered a Biscuit on the side and thought it was one of the best Biscuits that I’ve had in a very long time. It was giant, fluffy, and everything that I hope for when ordering a Biscuit. I would stop here again just for the Biscuit, even though I’ve already dined in at this place many times over the years. I would recommend and will be back again many times in the future.
After visiting Maxine’s, I can easily say they checked every box with ease and added new boxes for me to expect elsewhere. But hands down would recommend to anyone nearby, (very accessible from Marina Del Ray area). Thank you to the staff for allowing us to have a great time and hope to enjoy another burrito very soon!
What a peculiar, heartwarming story this place has! With such love they put into the cafe is how much love and pride they have put in their food and service. I was nicely surprised. Ordered a croissant sandwich, make your own omelette, cappuccino and fresh squeezed orange juice. Out of all, I’d say coffee was the only weaker side. But still, wouldn’t definitely be back if I’m in the area again. Also, their salsa is 👌🏻 superb to my taste.
Cute little greasy spoon restaurant that serves up classic breakfast meals in a quaint little house. Really like the vibe in here and the service was great. I don’t normally go out to breakfast, but my friend too me and I’m glad they took me here. Definitely recommend coming here.
Breakfast that can't get any better! We got the bomb Benedict that are literally the bomb!! The omelette was layered and loaded and we had some well brewed coffee and orange juice to wash it all down. The ambience is super cosy and the decor is quirky being themed with rather cool wall mounted party skateboards. Definitely a gem.
Such a cute place for brunch! Food is delicious and the servings were large, but what made our experience so special was how kind the servers were! Would definitely recommend.
dave was so cool and the pancakes and french were so yummy!! we loved everything :)))) i love that i got water in a tiki jar soo peak ty maxine
Great little place The atmosphere and vibe of this place is great Food was fantastic Would make the drive again

This is our second visit to Maxine’s and what they are doing here is very special. Their salaquiles are mind blowing!! ❤️ staff here is so friendly ❤️
Sal was our server, and he took such good care of all our orders. We really enjoyed our time chatting with him. All the food I ordered was absolutely delicious. I also loved how the restaurant's decor matched the pictures on the walls. The surfboards added a fun, beachy vibe, and you could tell the regulars knew each other and the servers well. I'll definitely be stopping by more often, especially when I’m craving a hearty breakfast!
Just moved from downtown to Marina Del Rey and during moving transition stumbled across Maxine’s. The staff are super friendly and always welcoming. They create the neighborhood feels and know their regulars and encourage new comers back. Sports is always on conversation tap with the guys in here. The food is good. I’ve had the omelette and breakfast burrito and both I’d come back for. The hot and cold coffee are great. I was recommended the salsa Fresca on my first visit and I’d order a gallon of it to take home. Already in love with my new local brunch spot.
I love diner food. This place is definitely one my list of good diners. Additionally, it has a nice menu selection. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was tasty and I'll definitely be going back. I would recommend going if you're in the area, or before you make your Costco run next door.
My son and I looooove this spot! The food is awesome, the employees are awesome! It's the perfect place to go from brunch/lunch! They have a tofu scramble that is absolutely amazing and my son looooves their pancakes!
Visiting from Phoenix and was looking for a good breakfast spot near the beach. The wait was a little long but it was worth it. Jay was amazing and the food was really good. Everyone enjoyed it and we felt welcome. Will have to come back next time we are in LA.

Excellent chilaquiles here and they aren't overpriced like most places. All around great place for breakfast. Tiny but cozy place to hang out in on the west side. Not pretentious by any means. Chill people work here and they have been for many years. They have all the stories. Hot coffee and food. Recommended.
This adorable restaurant serves pure vibes! I'm not sure if this spot is family run but listening to the staff play and tease while working was a delight. Loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious too. We found our new favorite spot for breakfast
Maxine’s Cafe has a retro vibe compared to your typical branch diner. The owner of the restaurant is friendly and welcoming, which would often give a good first impression, and thankfully, the food did follow suit. 🫡 The variation on the menu was also plentiful to choose from. The food: - Classic Breakfast w/ Waffles 🧇🥓🥔🍳 (10/10): The texture of the waffles was satisfying, although I do think a melted butter would have been better to go along with it, but then again, it’s all about personal preference. The eggs were cooked to perfection and I liked how they were not soaked in oil. 😨 The potatoes were fresh and seasoned to perfection. Also, the sausages were juicy and not too salty. With that said, the portion given was definitely acceptable. 👌🏼 - Classic Breakfast w/ Pancakes 🥞🥓🥔🍳 (8/10): This version is basically the same as 2x2x2 but with no fruits and instead of waffles, i got the pancakes. I thought their pancakes were too soft for my liking, but then again, everyone’s tastes are different. With all that in mind, the only downsides that I have to say about this place is the space in this restaurant is kind of small for my liking and parking spaces are kind of limited. Nevertheless, if you happen to be in the area, this brunch restaurant is worth a try.

patio seating is now available, but our order was for to-go. we had pancakes, corned beef hash with bacon, eggs and potatoes for sides. the pancakes were bland, nothing too special; the corned beef hash was dry and the potatoes that came with it do not look appetizing at all. i'll try this place another time to give it another shot - maybe today's order was a one-off (?)
It's sad to say that everything from this restaurant was a little bland. The wait was a bit long. The food is fine. Got the pancakes and they tasted like they were from a box. The maple syrup provided was an interesting consistency, not like normal syrup but corn syrup. It also had little to no flavor. A friend ordered the garbage and also said it was only alright. My fiancee liked his French toast which was good.
Maxine’s Café has a cozy retro vibe that instantly reminded me of a classic vintage diner on the corner—warm, nostalgic, and inviting. I stopped by for breakfast and tried the regular eggs, sausage, and hash browns, as well as the pork chops with eggs and a buttermilk biscuit. Everything tasted good—not extraordinary, but exactly what you’d hope for from a simple, comforting breakfast. The one downside was the coffee, which didn’t quite match the quality of the food. Service was okay, though I couldn’t shake the feeling that not all guests were treated with the same warmth. It wasn’t overt, but as someone who isn’t white, I did pick up on subtle vibes of exclusivity, especially from one of the servers. I truly hope this was unintentional because a place with such a welcoming aesthetic should feel just as inclusive to everyone who walks through the door. Overall, I liked it and would come back, but I’d love to see a more consciously welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
I’d be giving a much more positive review if the waffle machine wasn’t broken. I had to find out from the waiter AFTER I had made my order.

I don’t get it. It was average at best. $68 later and we got a crappy Bfast burrito, a mushy and old bowl of fruit, a breakfast sandwich and 2 crappy bitter coffees. The service was good. But the food… smh!
