We don’t have good Vietnamese food in my town, so after landing at SFO I was craving some yummy spring rolls and pho. Look no further, Hometown Noodle Restaurant is awesome, authentic and so delicious. The owner was so friendly. Please support this local mom and pop business. Will definitely come back on my next visit.
Had 51 for lunch and 57 for dinner. Great vegetarian food. Friends of mine had the meat and I heard no complaints. I can attest, good veggie
Always reliably great pho. Owners seem to really care about customers and community. Love the Banh Mi sandwiches, too, even with the oddly soft bread rolls (most other places serve banh mi on crusty french rolls.) Lots of meat!
It was amazing! I was a bit skeptical because they didn’t seem to be any people eating, but when we did get served with the food and drinks, it was amazing. I would recommend this to anybody who is looking for a good noodle soup.
Such a nice place. No frills or scams, just good broth and noodles. Honestly, the 11 was great, I got a medium and it was perfect. Spring rolls are good. Beer selection isn't great, but a Thai iced tea will make you forget that. Enjoy!!
Authentic Vietnamese food served in the same style, and in the same decor that you expect when you want to feel like you're actually in Vietnam. By that I mean your food is amazing, the service is average at best and the decor is truly terrible - absolutely perfect! Will be our go-to place when we want authentic food.
The Pho here is flavorful and delicious. I enjoy all the food and they always have the delicious plum sauce and peanut sauce my favorite.
Unassuming family restaurant, fast service and food was tasty! Pho could have had more flavor (used to beef bone marinating in there) but the pho def hit the spot for an itchy throat. Their hot tea was really nice too. Defo check it out if you’re in the peninsula side. Also brew coffee across the street !
Don’t come here if you really care about ambiance, Hometown Noodle has always been authentically & unapologetically themselves for the past 15 years and won’t change for one uptight customer who cares about every little detail. Their foods amazing, quality never changing, and affordable. Take out service is FAST, if you live within the area call & they will have your order ready within 10-20 min! :)
This place is so good. From pho to bun to spring rolls to imperial rolls. It's a no nonsense place that delivers great food in humble surroundings for more than decent prices, especially in the Bay Area. You probably wouldn't expect a Vietnamese restaurant in this neighborhood, but you'll be glad you went.
Delicious. The waitstaff were quick and as responsive in the perfect way you want at a restaurant (ie, they don’t keep pestering you and can recognize when you need something). That said, I was also there at a calm time when only 2-3 other tables were full.
My go-to for pho, comparing to others in the area it's the best. It starts with the broth, very hearty, and add great noodles ultra fresh vegetables and a lot of meat. We also like the spring rolls (especially the grilled pork) and the fried rice is better than most Chinese restaurants here. It's a bit of a dive but that's OK. Take out works well too, and we get that as often as we eat in.
Super friendly workers with great customer service. Ordered the large Pho Ga which came out so fast. The broth was delicious. Unless you’re really hungry I suggest ordering a smaller size because the portions were huge!
I found this place in Redwood city, it was called pho 102,pretty tasty food, phos and rice plates , appetizers also, I over heard the waiter tell.the guys next to me " No.share" on the noodle bowls. UUHHH yeah, ok, you can feed 3 people on that bowl,.anyhow, food was.good and water actually tasted bottled, good price, super fast serving for sure. Parking is very limited due to it being on a main street and other bussiness next doors .
Went there for the first time, recommended by my roommate, who goes there a lot with her co-workers. Cannot say enough great things about this place. Plates are absolutely generous, flavors top notch and plenty of choices even for a vegetarian. Two very picky kids couldn't have enough. The service and attention we got puts many other restaurants to shame.
Great Phoa Soup! Steak is my go too and it was great on such a gloomy day. Bit crowded during business lunch hours but they clean those tables and get you seated quickly.
Really tasty pho and super friendly service. Will def come back again.
Great vietnamese restaurant, we love to get some takeaways for a nice family diner. Very nice staff.

Great pho place to have a meal. The workers are nice, nothing to complain about. I would definitely reccomend this to Pho fan. :)
Great food great prices. Be prepared to order with the numbers on the menu. Very great for a casual quality Vietnamese meal. Leagues better than Pho Ha Noi in Palo Alto
Had the chicken pho. Delish. Got the large and took home enough for a second meal. Zero complaints. It's always good, fast, and well priced.
Absolute favorite pho spot in the bay! Great options for vegetarians, very calming vibes. Could not recommend enough.

I purchased the #14 Soup Pho. It was very tasty but couldn't tell the diffrence between large and medium. I suggest getting the medium for a more affordable price seeing you won't tell a diffrence. Although the soup lacked alot of meat. I was very surprised on the flavors in the soup. I will be a returning customer.
My wife and I enjoy visiting this place from time to time solely based on the the flavor of their Pho broth. We tried several different dishes and in the end we agree that at least for us the spring rolls and the Pho are the best things to order from their menu. Oddly enough don't come here if you are looking for a bahn mi sandwich, I think they have two meat choices only and the bread is not the delicious baguette often found in places that makes the sandwich. This restaurant can be busy at times but they manage to bring the food pretty fast. The restaurant inside looks fine, don't let the outside of it turn you away before entering and that includes the location as well. Parking can be a bit difficult and is not clear to me if the area behind the restaurant has a few spots for their clients or only for the staff.
Surprisingly decent pho. The broth was nice and delicious. Noodles were good. The meat was decent. Very minimalist setvice. Not outrageously proved. Will definitely come back.
Food is delicious. Reasonable pricing. Orders are prepared so fast that there isn't much wait, so this is a great option if you're already hungry. I'm a regular there, and I don't live close by. But whenever I'm around the area, this is always an excellent dinner option.
A pretty decent family owned Vietnamese restaurant. It’s been a while we saw traditional dripping coffee, so we really liked it. The taste was authentic. For the food, we ordered one Shrimp spring rolls, one Grilled pork ball spring rolls and one Pho Tai. Pho was decent, the broth was just okay. The other two dishes were good. But, I agreed the price was quite expensive compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I have tried. I think they kinda lack of staff because one lady took the job of waiter + cashier + preparing drinks, one uncle served food and cleaned up tables, and there seemed to be only one chef. Thus, it took a bit of time for food to be served. But, the lady was very nice. She chatted with us for a bit while serving our drinks and during checkout.
Home food with a nice modern atmosphere. The menu is easy to read and they offer a variety of bowl sizes for pho. Prices are higher than the one listed in google map, add $3.00 to all dishes. The real estate prices in Silicon Valley are killing the retail shops. Sorry, but the food is great and they always are packed with customers.
The fare here is excellent, though the service is a bit slow. Based on my experience, I would happily come back to try more of the menu if the opportunity to travel here again arises.

Pretty packed on a Friday for lunch. Service was quick and the food is pretty good. I liked the imperial rolls. But the shrimp chow mein was so so. I thought it was going to be a dry stir fry and less salty. Portion size was good though. I think the pho and bun looked better.
This is a great Pho joint, but their filler-meats aren't that great. I asked them to sub in mixed vegetables instead of brick-chicken, and they wanted to charge extra for it. Then I asked if they could simply do a curry mixed-vegetables and they said either they couldn't, or they would charge extra (like $15 total). They're basically meat-centric, and if you go for vegetarian they try to force meat substitute like tofu on you. They literally have all the ingredients to make an awesome tasty curry vegetables dish, but they aren't interested in it.
Its a nice place to go for lunch or dinner. The food is really tasty and in great proportions. It is a small local place so of course customer service is slightly lacking but overall I'd give it a solid 3/5.
My son wanted.noodle soup so we webt to Hometown Noodle place. He loved the soup, said it was great. I had a Bahn Mai sandwich. Not horrible but not good either. Would not recomment it or order it again. Servers were.nice, price average. Large menu
Be aware this restaurant has loud politics on tv. I don't know if it is all evening but it was on a few times. While the food is good and fast, at an ok price for these days, i dont think too many people like being bombarded with channel flipping politics of any sort.
I want to like this place, but the past two times I have been there I have found hair in my food, the food tastes good, but the inside is a little dirty, plates and tables are sticky, feels cold. Good for takeout.
This place serves large portions of home made food. The soup has good flavor and the rice noodles were just ok. The imperial rolls were very hot and the fried rice was well prepared. They need to learn more customer service or write the restaurant rules somewhere so we do not misunderstand each other
I have been dining at Hometown Noodle for well over 10 years - 2008 till 2019. It used to be a much better place, sad to see how qualityad declined. Perhaps there was an ownership change - the lady I used to see behind the counter was no longer there the last 2 times I came. FOOD: 4/5 Definitely the solid point of this restaurant. The taste is authentic - as a Vietnamese I guarantee it. Portion is big. I like that the noodle soup isn’t overly sweet, which is a problem at other Viet places. SERVICE:2/5 Ultra rude. Nothing more I can say. Maybe it’s better just to order takeaway. Also, we’ve been seeing some bugs in our plates, so they don’t have great insect repellent strategy in place! DECOR/LOCATION: 3/5 They repainted the inside to warmer tones, which is easy on the eye. The decor is barebone, though, nothing ultra comfy. It’s in an easy to find part of Redwood city, lots of parking places.
Food is good but this is not the place if you want service. I walked in with a friend, there were 4 tables already seated. We waiting about 2 minutes, the people at the front table looked at us several times, not understanding why, I go to the cash register to see if anyone could help me. A man who had been eating got up and asked if he could help. Turns out, that was our server. We were seated and 6 minutes after we stopped looking at our menu the same person returned to take our order. The food came out pretty quickly but that would be the last time anyone engaged us. I had to walk to the register and wait for someone to acknowledge us. Finally i asked for the bill and he just told me the amount. I asked if I could see the bill and he showed me the ticket he wrote the order on with no prices. I requested to see the bill, like any other restaurant. He was very frustrated. Finally he gave me a bill, i paid and left. Again the food is good but the service is non-existent.

Sad place; lukewarm Pho. Very limited in the protein. Broth is not tasteful like some other places thae broth is the main ingredient, must be excellent. Not a place to go back a 2nd time.

I do not recommend this restaurant. The pho was mid and the service was abysmal. Our server was friendly but no one noticed us standing there waiting for a table for far too long and the owner was one of the people ignoring/not noticing us.
Bad service, one of the women physically pushed my elbow away, they almost gave me the wrong change and had a snarky attitude. On the other hand, it is late and they seemed tired. Nonethless, I thought it was rude. The food however is really good. Slight word of caution, they also handle the food with the gloves they handle the money with.
Overall pretty forgettable. Hard to find street parking along Middlefield Road. Dining area was clean, but dimly lit and air conditioning wasn’t really working. I liked the individually wrapped chopsticks and the soup spoon ladles were porcelain, not melamin plastic. Pho noodle portion was generous. A little skimpy on protein for the dac biet special pho. I usually finish the broth, but it was so bland it tasted like beef broth from a can with some salt. Where are the favor hints of star anise or cinnamon and other ingredients? Also like another reviewer mentioned where are the mint leaves? Barely enough bean sprouts. First and last time I eat here.

Pho is sub-par. Have ordered from here twice & Pho does NOT come with mint leaves, which is blasphemy. Shrimp spring rolls were good.

I wish I can give 0 stars. I came to this restaurant with my mother because she felt like eating here, although I was not hungry, I was like let's go. So as soon as I ordered for my mom, I was told by the server that the restaurant policy is that I needed to order a meal as well if I was going to sit here in the restaurant too (we had ordered an appetizer as well and drinks) I believe this policy is more than stupid and ridiculous. We were still consuming. These type of policies just show that the restaurant is not doing well in business if they are forcing everyone to order a meal individually in order to be able to accompany others. This restaurant is a great example of a hungry economy. We left the place.
I have been coming to Hometown Noodles for years. It’s a hole in the wall, with good food, okay service up until today. I got a chicken Pho for dinner on my way home from work, when I got home I started eating, but the chicken tasted funny, I spit it on a napkin, I continued eating thinking it was a piece of chicken fat, the next piece of chicken also tasted funny and that’s when I realized it was spoiled. I walked back to the restaurant and tried to explain to the woman at the register that the chicken is spoiled. Instead of hearing what I had to say she started screaming “I sold a lot today, I sold a lot today, I sold a lot today”, she proceeds to takes out cash out of the register, hands me $18 and tells me to “get out, GET OUT, GET OUT!” She didn’t have to be rude, she could have replaced the order, I didn’t feel like cooking and she should have looked into what happened. Instead I left the restaurant without saying anything because I didn’t want other customers dining in to be discourage from eating there. This place has been around for as long as I can remember, it WAS my go to place for pho, specifically when I’m feeling under the weather. Not the way to be treated as a new or regular customer.
The woman who is also the owner was extremely rude. She does not like people asking her questions period! When the server was bringing the food out I had a peak in the kitchen and it looked disgusting. My friend got "food poisoning" I am 100% sure that it's to do with their hygiene for sure! I work in a fairly large campus and believe me she lost many customers when we shared about our incident.
Good food my family and i have been coming to this restaurant for years we have had a few rude services but we tried to be understanding. We finally had our worst service today, to the point my family and I had to walkout after the server lady began to yell at me because i told her one of our orders was wrong, my gosh we had 5 orders and only one was legitimately wrong haha. It felt awkward because we never have walked out of a restaurant before but we didn't want to argue back we just politely excused ourselves and left. This place has good food i just wish they had better serviced . I can't see myself going back after this last one such a shame.
A chicken soup and a shrimp spring roll for more than $32??? I didn't check the price on the menu as I'm concerned about spending but $32 for lunch is way too much in addition the shrimps tasted spoiled and the chicken was very dry. not going back to this place or recommending to my friends, what a rip off. the lady even tried to make me pay $2 for the peanut sauce for the roll. what a scam.

Very bad service yesterday. I was at that restaurant with my children. The lady at the register was very rude. I arrived at 6:45 pm and as soon as I arrived she told me they closed at 8 and that we shouldn't take too long to eat. I ordered my food twice, she took my order, served everyone except me, and my soup never arrived. I reminded her and she even got annoyed, telling me they would be closing soon. The waiter was very friendly, but she was very rude, even to her employee. I also noticed that she keeps the tips while the young man who serves and cleans the tables doesn't receive anything. Very bad service. I will never return to that dirty place with such terrible service.
