Lugar tranquilo, el café es excelente. La decoración me encanta

Un café delicioso, mi esposo y yo siempre buscamos un lugar donde podamos tomar un buen café y agradecidos de encontrar este local atendido por su dueña. Hizo nuestra visita a Mérida un buen modo de iniciar cada día. Claro probamos desayunos y muy ricos.

Muy cálida y amable la atención. Supo recomendarme. El moka caliente con leche de coco una delicia. Comida sin gluten y opciones vegetarianas. Los pasteles con poca azúcar. El wifi funciona perfecto. Tuve una clase de una hora allí muy a gusto

Excelente lugar muy tranquilo, las bebidas tienen un sabor muy rico, mejor que el de las otras cafeterias del centro (ya visite muchas y este se siente casero) el pastel de chocolate con cafe mi favorito tiene una textura unica y inigualable, es casero del lugar. dueña muy amable y hay juegos de mesa para pasar el rato, asi como instrumentos musicales y ventas de pinturas y artesanias de muchos artistas locales

Vine con mi novia a tomar un capuchino y un frappé, han sido excelentes los 2. De los mejores que he tomado. El lugar muy agradable, incluso tienen a disposición juegos de mesa!!

Buen café, aunque estaria bien que dieran un vaso de agua junto con el espresso. Tienen lindas instalaciones y juegos de mesa disponibles, me imagino que es buen lugar para ir con más gente y estar más tiempo. La dueña es amable, aunque la otra persona que nos atendió da un servicio aceptable, sin más.

This is easily my favorite cafe in the world right now. It’s a small loft location in Mérida Centro and it’s a must stop when you’re there. The drinks and food are made to order by the owner and they never miss. We went so many times we had every food item on the menu and several drinks. There’s also games and books to use while you wait. Things to note is that in Mérida most of the locals speak their native language, Spanish, and the owner of the cafe included. My recommendation when traveling is learn basic phrases (at least) for wherever you are traveling to. Also, my experience in the region is that their lattes, cappuccinos, etc are milk forward so if you’re looking for more coffee forward flavors I would order a cup of coffee, espresso or add shots to your drink (here and other spots in the area).

My girlfriend had the best iced mocha here she has ever had. I had a prehispanic drink (I ordered tejate which they didn't have, but got offered this as an alternative) and it was absolutely delish. Super quiet cafe with cat themes interior design, which was cute. They offered games like uno or chess and books, in case that helps pass the time. Temperature was cool and the bathroom was clean.

I've been coming here every time I've been in Mérida for years. The owner is a lovely lady, incredibly friendly. Both times that I was in town for my birthday, she made me a surprise birthday cake, with candles and everything. The food hits the spot. Just the right amount and made with care. I particularly love her espresso tonicos, which I discovered here for the first time some years ago. It's a joy to work from here and to spend time here with friends. The place is filled with cute art of cats and has a real personal touch. I hope to come back here many more times in the years to come!

Good vibe, cozy and friendly service. Good value for what you pay for. You are even invited to glance their books, play the board games and the guitar they have hanging on the wall.

The woman here was so kind and helpful! There’s a lovely balcony bit upstairs full of fans which is a joy when it’s so hot. The fruit salad was tasty and comes with either a coffee or lemonade. Strong WiFi, you can work in there too.

An excellent Feminista cafe, with crazy cat pictures and an atmosphere of positivity and comfort, Gato Gordo is fantastic for a light brunch or coffee! Quality coffee sourced from co-ops, organic honey, and local artwork (mostly featuring cats, of course) available for purchase compliment the cards, guitar, and games available free to play. If you're looking for eclectic coziness, look here first!

Cats and coffee, heck-yeah! That alone caught my attention. Even though it had been our 3rd café experience that day. I couldn't just pass this place without checking it out. Three times a charm, though, and boy, am I glad we stumbled into Gato Gordo. It turned out to be the 2nd best cup of coffee we've had in all of Merida, and that's over the past 5 weeks of trying many cafes. I ordered an Americano coffee and was in coffee heaven. It blew me away with how good it tasted that I savored every sip as if it was my last coffee ever. I am so grateful to have had such a nice coffee experience since I've drank my fair share of disappointing coffees offered around Merida. The owner explained to my spouse and I that the coffee beans she used were fair trade and organic. Well, whatever beans she's using or however it's being processed, more cafes should take note and replicate what Gato Gordo is doing on some level, as it's perfection in a cup. From the smell, the strength, the taste, it's just amazing coffee. The café itself is very cozy and beautifully decorated with cat theme paintings. We were served by the owner herself, and she's very friendly to speak with and is passionate about her business. I'm so glad we found this café. It was such a pleasant surprise to find randomly along our walk home.

Great chill vibe. You are invited to play the guitar, board games, and told the wifi password upon first entering. They also have a limited brunch menu with omelette or eggs Mexicano that comes with a cafe Americano. Prices are inexpensive. Menu is in Spanish and English.

Just happen to found my new chill spot in town. A cute, lovely and atmospheric café run by Wendy with a very sweet and emotional backstory. There's books and even a guitar to play available. Service by Wendy is friendly and top notch, amazing array of drinks. I went back the day after and I'm positive I can return over and over again. Highly recommended.☕

Cute small coffee and pastry shop located close to Parque de Santiago. No AC but lots of fans to keep cool. Lots of seating making for a great little hang out spot. Super sweet and patient staff. I ordered a Nutella frappe and a carrot cake. She made a little heart on the plate and that made my day 🥰 Will be back to Fat Cat Cafe!

This is a really cute spot with great coffee and tea drinks and a small selection of breakfast food and pastries. I loved the vibe and care that was put into creating a welcoming atmosphere with books, art, and a guitar you can take from the wall and play. Our Airbnb was around the corner so it was a great spot to stop in the morning

This place is great! It's pretty new, so not many other customers were met by us there, but maybe it's just because of the Christmas holidays. Anyway, the place is nice, coffee, frappes, desserts are really good. They have coconut, almond and soy milk aside regular wholesome milk. Also non sweetened desserts and drinks. Both english and spanish menu. Good energy vibes. The Cocoa Coconut Frappe is my favorite

Muy lindo lugar con buen hambiente, ofrecen juegos de mesa y hasta guitarra. El pastel de zanahoria 10/10 pero podrían mejorar un poco con los frappes y al triturar el hielo 🧊

Las bebidas están ricas, pero la atención cambia según quién seas. A los extranjeros los atienden con toda la amabilidad, y a los nacionales apenas nos dirigen la palabra. Es triste ver cómo seguimos repitiendo una actitud servil, como si aún tuviéramos que inclinarnos ante quien viene de fuera. Ya nos colonizaron una vez, no hace falta seguir haciéndolo con la actitud.
