I booked here because it was the location of a conference I was attending. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself. The rooms are spacious and well kept and staff are topnotch. As a bonus, the courtyard is an oasis in the heart of the city. Quiet at night and birds chirping during the day. Highly recommended.

Work trip for Bae (corona capital) and I tagged along for the plus one. I would call this a "grand dame" Mexico City style, with interesting design and well maintained rooms. Biggest closets I've ever seen and I've seen many. Staff is friendly to the point where it may me uncomfortable. Very decent breakfast. Cool courtyard with pool to hang out by. Located opposite the big park/forest with the big museum and castle, but more of an Uber ride type place for the cooler parts of the city. Polanco neighborhood is nice but sedate, or at least this part was. Staff was so on point, Id almost forgotten what that was like after a decade staying in hotels in US, UK and. EU.

Incredible hotel localized in a very nice area of the city, with several walking distance activities such as the local parks and museums. The rooms are spacious and shower is great. The breakfast is plentiful and very good, had one of the best French toasts of my life. The rooms for conference are also very good. The gym has enough for a good workout, and the outside pool is warmed up.

Really good hotel right in the heart of Mexico city, with great location, walking distance to restaurants and museums. Their breakfast buffet is also amazing.

No complaints! It was great! Front desk was great and concierge was attentive. Room service was amazing and nice bar downstairs! Also, the buffet in the morning was very yummy and fresh. 🤩

Incredible example of Barrigan’s architecture. Worth visiting just to walk around the site. Nice pool and fantastic architectural details. Room rates are quite reasonable. Location is good and it’s easy to get to hot spots walking or by taxi.

Nice buffet breakfast. Room with view of garden was great.

We enjoy the trade show and all the staff is super friendly, we felt very welcomed.

Great location opposite the park. It is very modern in deco. Relatively low rise, you feel escape from the city once you are behind the walls inside. The bar area is great with a couple of huge screens, one is probably 7 foot tall for to ceiling, which was great for the Grand Prix. Loads of staff.

A very pleasant experience. Clean, large rooms, bottled water provided on a daily basis. Friendly and efficient staff. Good breakfast on the 5th floor for the executive rooms. I had the chance of getting a room facing the interior garden which was especially agreeable. Also, for exec floor you get a happy hour between 7 and 8pm where they serve drinks and refreshments. Good and safe location

Iconic architectural hotel, enjoyed my stay. Jesus who works at the Club Lounge took real good care of me every morning and started my day well. Stayed a week this time and would stay here again when I'm in Mexico City.

Nice Hotel. We were with family group for a wedding and had a pleasant stay , very good service and high security , rooms very ample with over three restaurants, recommended

The rooms were quiet and comfortable. It has not been updated in many years (real 70's vibe) but was in good condition. All the services provided were carried out professionally and always very politely. The restaurant did a great breakfast!! If you are looking for nice place to stay in Mexico City, this is a great choice.

I was at this hotel in October 2025, I would like to especially praise the employee Guadalupe who is on the fifth floor, she served us with great care, dedication and appreciation, she is special!

Beautiful property and attentive staff. I was there with my partner for his birthday weekend and it felt like we were walking into a resort everytime we got back to our hotel. As soon as we left for the day (all 4 days) beds were made, all towels replaced, trash taken out, and room straightened up. Beautiful view from out room. Water pressure was working well. We never made it to their restaurants/bars since we had so much on the itinerary but everything looked great and was available 24hr by room service if needed. Walls were not increbly thick but staff and other patrons were polite and kept thir voices down. We had a very pleasant weekend and will definitely be back.

**A Total Gem! Wish I Found It Sooner!** I stumbled upon this amazing place after a *terrible* experience at UTOPIC Polanco by ULIV—and wow, what a difference! From the moment I arrived, everything here exuded class and hospitality. The staff were warm and welcoming, the amenities were top-notch, and the vibe was just what I needed. Between the delicious food and bar options, the sleek pool, and the fully equipped gym, it felt like a true escape. I honestly wish I had booked here from the start. This was a **10/10 experience**, no question. Any time I’m back in the area, this is where I’ll stay—no hesitation. Huge thanks to the incredible team for turning my trip around! 🙌✨

The hotel was incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, and very cozy. Its location is perfect, close to everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

We received a warm welcome. The property was clean and quiet. Our room was close to the street but the day and nights were peaceful. The pool was clean and therapeutically warm. Location was key in our choice and it definitely did not disappoint. The colors look dated but the place is immaculate when it comes to cleanliness and service. Welcoming of families.

Rooms are nice, service is ok, most employees doesn't speak english properly thought so you better know a bit of spanish otherwise it's difficult to deal with employees. The buffet at this place is awesome but way too expensive compared to local restaurants around. Breakfast only worth it if it's include in your stay, otherwise, don't pay for that.

This is a wonderful property that is historic and well maintained. If you aren't even staying here I would suggest just checking out the property as it is really unique. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very spacious and clean.

Great hotel in the middle of the fab Polanco area in CDMX. I was there for work a few days last week and want to express my extreme gratitude specifically to the waiter Javier Jimenez who was serving us coffee at the medical event I attended. Javier went out of his way to serve me and all others with a smile and a great amount of attention. It's rare to meet such dedication and attention. I hope this review reaches him, as he deserves all the best! Exceptional! Thank you Javier!

Very nice experience. Strong recommend to stay here, if you have a chance to visit CDMX. Really good location, very clean room, kind staffs, and reasonable price. You won't be disappointed.

AMAZING location. There’s plenty of food walking distance of this hotel. The lobby is very clean with the staff being top notch. They are always thinking one step ahead to make sure guests feel welcomed. Check in process was smooth! ATTENTION: They do not accept Mastercard as payment so make sure you have another form of payment like visa. Came to this hotel for a wedding and stayed in a 2 bed room. The beds were comfortable, I just wish they had pillows that were more firm. The bathroom would make a weird noise very time I would flush. I put in a work order and they came within 5 min. The bathroom was very very clean and they had extra toiletries and emergency kit available. The patio was beautiful with a view to a garden. I also ate breakfast at the restaurant lobby which was DELICIOUS! I had a latte with oatmilk. They do not have flavored syrups. The orange juice is freshly pressed! Reminded me of my moms cooking which I miss the most. Overall, this hotel is great for couples or families. The staff will go above and beyond to make your experience a good one.

The hotel is colorful. Staffs are friendly. Rooms are very spacious, but some equipments look somehow aged. There's nothing special for breakfast, but it's just right. I don't have much time to explore the hotel, but my experience is good.

L
Lowrie Burton

The rooms are really nice and the bed is comfortable for me. Only down side is that if you are way down the hall and on an edge room then you will get a lot of noise. Likewise if you are on a room facing the center of the hotel the late night club downstairs will keep you up. Food is really good there, as well as the room service food was surprisingly very good. The staff is excellent and the ride to the airport is about 25-35 minutes in good traffic conditions.

Big hotel, rooms are ok, great bed, our room was little noisy we could slightly hear our neighbour. Also nice bar and restaurants (sushi and traditional). Gym is small but functional. The staff is very helpful.

A

The concierge told us that our room was upgraded it didn't feel like it. There was rotten food left by previous guests in the mini fridge. The upside they allowed us to check in earlier than the time posted.

My experience at the hotel was generally okay, although not quite what I was expecting. The facilities are decent and cover the basics: the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location is very convenient. However, there were some details that didn’t go unnoticed. Some of the common areas are starting to show wear and could use better maintenance. Also, I found the staff’s attention to be inconsistent — while some were friendly and helpful, others seemed disinterested or not very attentive. That said, there were still enjoyable parts of my stay. Breakfast was well-stocked and the overall atmosphere was peaceful, which made it easy to rest. In summary, it wasn’t a bad experience, but it also didn’t quite match the level you’d expect from reading the reviews or seeing the photos. With a few improvements, especially in customer service and upkeep, this could be a much more recommendable option.

Rooms weren't too bad but looking dingy compared to the lobby. Bedside socket had almost fallen off. The staff were extremely nice. Other facilities were well maintained and the grounds well designed. There is a gym, a pool (the water was heated) and several restaurants and bars. The hotel is beautifully located as there are many sights and necessities (pharmacy, convenience stores and restaurants) located within walking distance or a short drive. Good place to stay for family, business or pleasure trips.

Its a beautiful property and extremely well located. I have stayed in almost all 4 -5 star hotels in Mexico City. In price range of 250-350 USD a night, this is the best! Negatives - 1. The staff of the hotel and I am talking about front desk and the porters are very badly behaved. I faced lot of racism from front desk staff named, Emiliano. Also the porter who took my luggage to put in bodega had an attitude! 2. There is lot of noise in this hotel if you get a badly located room. Avoid room near lobby of the hotel as hotel has events constantly 24/7

Best location! Close to so many Mexico city attractions. It's getting old and requires improvements! Some may say it's the1960s style, though improvements are necessary!!! Best service and food!!

One would expect that a five-star hotel, like almost all other others which are not even five-star, provide complimentary, sealed water bottles in the room, which are replenished by housekeeping daily. However this was not provided here. One evening we asked for two bottles and was told rudely by the reception that the hotel had already given us two bottles that day so we would have to pay. Payment aside (which we would be ok to pay if communicated nicely to us), it was the rude tone of the receptionist that was shocking for what you would expect in a hospitality industry. We could of course pay if required but the rude and condescending tone was frankly unnecessary. When my partner pushed back, the receptionist finally gave the two bottles saying it was out of goodwill of the hotel. We are guests paying a premium to stay in a supposedly nice place (more than USD 200 a night) but have to be treated rudely for water costing 10 pesos or less. This has left a real sour taste in our mouths.

K
Katharine Kenney

This small hotel has plenty of food options on-site, which is really convenient. However, the rooms could use an update, and it’s not the quietest place to stay — the doors slam at all hours of the night, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep.

D
Dr. Tse

The region where the hotel is located is good, the hotel rooms are spacious but need to be updated, but are clean. We only tried 2 restaurants and the food is good, good ambiance. But the worst thing is the infrastructure, it is not prepared to have senior guests and even with wheelchairs. There are stairs everywhere with horrible inclination, not even the marble stones are marked on the floor in order to see where the stairs begin and end. Could be a death trap...The architetural structure is a huge maze, there are a lack of signals and totens showing areas, not even a map to show the guests which direction to go! And why the hotel does not tell they have a shuttle service to the airport? The website also lacks information. The entrance of the hotel is also full of stairs, specially if you are bringing your luggage! It is hassle...not even a ramp! Nothing functional...who designed the hotel is not a professional and it must follow the international code for accessibility. It is a pity. When there is party like the one I suffered on a Saturday evening, a wedding party, on the third level and my room was below on ground level, the music was so loud, and I heard people shouting, dancing, singing along, I could not sleep and I called reception twice in the evening and they could do nothing. The party continued until 2am! This is so infuriating! I was staying in this hotel because of a conference. Could not sleep well. What a lack of consideration with the other guests staying there!

Tried to host a webinar. Impossible. The wifi is the bare minimum. We paid for a room in the business centre and the wired internet was 6Megabits upload and 8 download. They offered us to upgrade to 30Mbps for USD1500, so instead we went to a hotel down the road and used the free wifi which was 40Mbps. Don't try and do business in this hotel. Its very nice but its not for business.

T

Huuuuuuge hotel. You will get your steps in here. Built for the ‘68 Olympics to house the athletes. Its got a vibe, rooms feel like its 1997. It does have a ton of options to eat and there are a lot of places nearby one can walk to.

D
Daniel Jimenez Farías

Cost-benefit ratio... not very good. The facilities are nice, but the reception staff's assistance is not good when you need their help. Personally, I had a bad experience, and I do not recommend it as there are better hotels available for the same price.

G
Gabriela

The staff at the reception is very very very lost. Something happened in the past year and the reception staff has no idea what’s going on, it’s impossible to get anything done. A significant drop in quality of service at the reception desk. On the upside, the breakfast and the staff at breakfast are amazing. And room service and room cleaning services are also immaculate.

C
Celine b

Am not sure why this hotel is getting great reviews. The rooms are outdated, the restaurants are overpriced and some of the nights there was club level loud music outside until late. The breakfast was good and lots of amenities in the hotel, but not worth the cost.

I stayed at Camino Real Mexico for several days around New Year’s Eve and the first days of January. This is a classic hotel in Mexico, well known for its iconic architecture, and the structure itself is still beautiful. Unfortunately, the property has been very poorly maintained. There is a big difference between a hotel being old and being dirty and neglected, and sadly, this hotel falls into the second category. The hallways looked dirty and uncared for. Our first room, located on the second floor, was in very poor condition: worn-out carpet that looked dirty, a dirty room door, stained sheets, and an unpleasant smell. To make matters worse, the bathroom had a strong sewage smell. I didn’t notice it the first night, but the next morning it became unbearable. When I called the front desk, they immediately said, “Oh yes, it smells like sewage, right?” which made it clear they were already aware of the issue. We were moved to another room, which was better and had a balcony, but the overall experience had already been disappointing. Regarding service, one young man at the front desk was kind and helpful. However, a woman who presented herself as a manager (or future manager) was not approachable at all. At check-in, she blamed Expedia for a “bad reservation” and spoke very negatively about the platform, saying reservations through Expedia always cause problems and that it’s better to book directly with the hotel. I found this very unprofessional, especially considering Expedia is a widely used and reliable platform, and we have never had issues before. The buffet restaurant still offers decent food, but it was almost empty. I remember when this restaurant used to be lively and popular years ago. There is also a sushi restaurant upstairs, where we were literally the only guests, and the experience was nothing special. Overall, it is very disappointing to see such an iconic hotel so neglected. Camino Real has incredible architectural value and a rich history, but it clearly needs significant maintenance, better cleanliness standards, and improved management. It’s truly a shame, because this hotel used to be beautiful and it could be again. On the positive side, the restaurant staff and bellboys were very friendly and helpful.

What a Weird Hotel! 1) RECEPTION is not in front of the entry gate! You need to really find it the first time and walk downstairs with your luggage to reach RECEPTION! 2) The late evening hour checkin management is not efficient!! During the day, there were enough people to manage traffic (ps.: good job - Maria) 3) You continue your Hide and Seek play as the elevators are also not directly in front!!! 4) People working there are certainly fine :) 5) After a little more Hide n Seek, I reached to given room and guess what there was already someone inside of it!!!! Wow, after 17 hours of journey, jetlag, and dragging luggage on the thick carpet floor, I'm on my way to the RECEPTION with a video to explain what just happened!!!!!! 6) I asked him to .... .... .... leave it... Good part: Sunday brunch/breakfast arrangement was amazing.

Was a corporate Business trip reservation and the team was not courteous enough to change my room. The room given to me at the North block was not good and I personally didnt like it. When requested they say me that the entire rooms are booked and I need to pay additional price for my reservation. Not acceptable and recommend you to not book here. Not value for your money

H
Hannes Karger

Service at front desk is poor. More than 10 employees are not able to serve the guest who are waiting in queue. Most of them are busy with themself. Bar service needs discipline as well. Waitress prefers to eat instead of checking what their guest wants. But, when I came back at night the service was good, means depend on waitress. Rooms are quite old and need renovations. The breakfast is very good, they have various kind of food. Bell boys were nice and helpful. The location of this hotel is perfect for going out. Lots of restaurants are near. I recommend this location for a city stay.

M
Maria Jermann

Outdated and badly maintained. The room smelled really bad, old carpets, old bathroom fixtures, nothing was working properly. The reception personnel were totally lost, we had to deal with a manager who was the only person who knew how to treat customers and was knowledgeable. Only good thing was the breakfasts and the personnel at “La Huerta”, all super nice and helpful and the food was super fresh and delicious.

Spoiler alert: 🪳🪳 Stayed here for dia de los muertos from 10/31-11/4. We were assigned to room 1506 which is on the first floor. Our flight landed late so we dropped off our bags around 10pm and went to go get tacos and came back around 11pm, washed up and was getting ready for bed. We were all exhausted. To our horrifying surprise, a cockroach ran across the counter above the cabinet and below the TV - the small dangerous/infestation kind not the large water bugs. I slapped the cockroach from the counter top into the open drawer below. We called the front desk and they were willing to switch rooms for us to the second floor. Housekeeping came in to confirm said roach, which she did, “ah sí…” and wiped up the remains and left. This is at 1am. We were tired, already in pajamas and our luggages are out with clothes already hanging in the closet. We removed what was left in our luggage, shook every piece of clothing and overturned our luggage so we can sleep peacefully at night. ANOTHER SMALL COCKROACH FELL OUT OF MY FRIENDS BAG. So thankfully we stood there shaking and repacking in the middle of the night despite how tired we were. We never left our bags open again for the rest of the trip out of fear. Upon returning home, we left our luggages outside for a day and shook every piece of item before bringing it into our home. The inconvenience was like the gift that kept on giving. They front desk simply sent us to a different floor, same room type. The hotel never offered any compensation for this 🪳 encounter. We came back home and messaged the third party we used to book the hotel and the hotel refused to give a refund or any type of discount citing there is no record of this happening. We did not want to take more time out of the few days we had in CDMX to head to the front desk and discuss this cockroach. The hotels response was a slap in the face. Considering staying away from this hotel for the time being AND ESPECIALLY RM 1506 as this place may be infested with cockroaches.

I asked room service to bring me a bowl, it’s almost midnight and I asked for it three hours ago and still nobody brought it and when I called, I was brushed off really quickly and I’m still waiting for my bowl. Not cool.

This isn’t 5 stars hotel. The room was 2 stars at most. Oldy. Smelly room and smelly corridors. Windows to communal garden so you can’t open them. Recommend going elsewhere.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, right beside the Bosque de Chalputepec and it has a wonderful breakfast buffet (pricy, but good) served by attentive staff. The outdoor pool is heated, and the surrounding courtyard is nice. Other than that, I do not have much positive to say about this hotel. The rooms are dated and include an old, purple carpet that has seen god-knows-what. The beds are decently comfortable. But the worst part about this hotel is their administration. It was a horror show. I booked the hotel directly (two rooms-- I had to do two separate reservations because, for some reason, you cannot chose two different room types on the same reservation) on Camino Real's website because that was the most cost efficient option. At the time of booking, I paid a one-night fee through PayPal. For some reason did not receive confirmation of the reservation, so I wrote the hotel to ask them to send me the reservations. The confirmation did not include proof of payment, although I did have the charge on my credit card. A bit before we got there, I wrote the email address that sent the reservation to ask 1) that they set up a rollaway bed (they confirmed), and then to let them know we would be arriving late into Mexico city - at about 1am (technically, the day after our reservation). When we arrived, the rollaway bed was not there (not great to check in at 1am after international travel with a 6-year-old and not have the bed set up), but they did set it up eventually. The real horror was at checkout: not only did they not have any record of payment that I had made (despite me making the reservation *on their website*), they also decided to just charge me an entirely different rate than what I had been guaranteed at checkout. Thankfully, I speak Spanish (though, not perfectly, especially when I find out they are charging to charge me an extra $700USD). But I had to absolutely FIGHT for them to both 1) recognize that they had already charged me an equivalent of two nights' stay; and 2) give me the rate that I was guaranteed on the initial reservation. Argued in the lobby for about 45 minutes, then a series of emails back-and-forth. They kept telling me that, because we checked in late, they cancelled my reservation and then had to book "new reservations at the new rate" when I told them we would be late. I had to spell it out for them over and over again, calculate the difference. And after this situation, they did not give me any additional discount -- merely gave me the rate that they had already guaranteed me. Anyway, if you are going to stay here DO NOT BOOK THROUGH CAMINO REAL'S WEBSITE. Go through Expedia if you must (the rates are generally cheaper than other hotels in the area -- now you know why). And be warned -- management is at best entirely unhelpful and disorganized, or at worst swindlers.

This hotel is definitely not a 5-star property, neither in service nor in quality. At reception, we struggled because staff did not speak basic English. We asked for bottled water several times and were completely ignored. They kept saying hot water instead. Even after showing room service a bottle of water to be clear about what we wanted, the person never came back — despite clearly understanding the request. The experience at the bar was just as disappointing. We sat down in an almost empty bar to enjoy the music, and the bartender rudely asked us to leave because we hadn’t ordered yet — incredibly unwelcoming and unnecessary. The room and amenities were very old and worn down. Our toilet tank ran all night, there was no fan in the bathroom, and overall the room felt outdated and poorly maintained. This hotel does not meet 5-star standards in any way. We would never stay here again.

B
Blake Wingard

While checking in the staff was extremely rude. Hospitality is something that they lack very much so, which is weird because they claim to be 5 star hotel and the prices reflect that. I wouldn’t recommend. The room isn’t very nice either. Beds are uncomfortable.

A
Alex Warren

Not a 5-star. You have to search for the elevators and the staff outside wait for YOU to carry and lift your to get your bags before asking if they can help. What a joke. 3 star at best.
