My family and I went to Ruson’s and for us their Sushi quality along with Hibachi is good. Service is excellent, atmosphere is welcoming. Many years I have been going there I have yet to be disappointed. Management also care for their customers. Restaurant even celebrates High School graduates by decorating with banners balloons etc. Kudos to all staff members. Thank you
I love this place. The food is amazing; I highly recommend all the soups, especially the PHO and Udon soups which are so well done. They also serve hibachi and full bar.
The food is very good. Hibachi is delicious.
Family friendly hibachi or table dinner. There’s never a long wait, and the servings for hibachi are fulfilling. Good beer options as well as drinks now. Fresh sushi available at the bar too.
We have been coming here for years and the food never disappoints! Best Sushi ever in Kendall!! Best Prices!!!! The steak picture is a Kids plate!!! LETS SUPPORT LOCALS!!!!!
I took the family to Ruson to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were promptly greeted and we were seated immediately since we chose an individual table instead of the 'cooking' table where the chef prepares the food in front of you. Our server was very professional and patient with us and made some great recommendations. The food was well prepared and served quickly. My medium rare teriyaki steak was cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere and delicious food. We all had a good time.
An authentic Japanese restaurant that offers delicious wide variety of food and superb service. You have the option to do hibachi. Sushi is fantastic and fresh. Owner walks around and works as hard as his employees. Be sure to check out his wife's restaurant Bangkok City Thai & Sushi.
Always exceptional service and food! The prices for the amount of food is also great. We always have a great time coming here and look forward to our next visit!
Super delicious and everyone that served us was great! We shared hibachi, steak and shrimp. The I love Lucy sushi roll was yummy! The clear soup and the miso soup was very good and my favorite ginger dressing on a small salad was delicious. Kudos to Cedrick, our chef for making my husband laugh! And they had a fish tank with the cutest baby starfish. ❤️
Love coming here. Food is always outstanding!!
We love Ruson. We come a few times a year for birthdays and other special occasions. They always put on a good show & the food is amazing. I've never had a bad experience here!
Absolutely loved this place. You have a choice of sitting at a regular table or at the hibachi table where the chef prepares everything for you tableside. The food was delicious and the cooks show was entertaining as well. It made for a wonderful dinner. Im not a sushi guy but my son is and he really loves their sushi and he loves the wide variety on the sushi menu. Other similar places have long waits to get in. We went on a weekend evening around 5-6 and we're able to get a seat at the hibachi immediately. Wonderful experience.
Ruson has been a staple in our household for a long time. If you can be served by Will I highly recommend him as a server - he is by far one of the most attentive, kind, and his attention to detail is just amazing!!
Always great food and friendly service. It's like visiting family. I have been going to Ruson since their opening week and I always feel welcome and remembered. The best hibachi in the Miami
Love this family owned restaurant, only one not like a chain. The hibachi experience is real intimate there are only 4 tables but dining in is a pleasure as well amazing proprietary sauces and food amazing little spot.
Gladys is Always Amazing!! Exceptional Service! Love the food and feels like family
This is by far my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Food and service is EXCELLENT! They always make me feel like family the moment I walk thru the door.
This place is great for takeout and offers excellent value for the price.
Bayron is the best waiter. He is fun, sweet, professional, attentive, and very serviceable. He made our diner experience outstanding. We are coming back and sitting back with him again. He smiled all the time. He brings joy and laughter to the atmosphere. Thank you, Ruson Japanese, for having people like him serving. Food was delicious, and we even liked the crazy birthday celebrations here, LOL. Also, great music 🎶
This place is amazing i come practically every week with my family and we love it!! Service is amazing and food is DELICIOUS with cert decent pricing.
Food was great. What I don't like is that they add a 12percent gratuity to the bill even for a party of only 2. It gets confusing as to how much to tip as you don't know who the 12 percent goes to. I hope they read this post and advise. Owner of Ruson please advise who the 12 percent goes to so that we all can determine how much to tip. If I tip 20 percent then I am really tipping 32 percent , correct Owner ? It's not normal to pay 32percent extra.
Great food and phenomenal service!!
Been coming here for over 15 years, it has stayed consistently the same since. AMAZING food, AMAZING staff, hands down best fried rice I’ve had ever. 10/10 recommended Ruson to anyone !!
Wow! Where do I start? My experience at Ruson was absolutely stellar and I’ll most definitely be visiting again. The prices? Pretty decent. The food? Phenomenal. But, what really stuck out to me was the service. I’ve never had such great service, even at higher scale restaurants. The owner came over and talked to us, she was very friendly and told us more about the area as we’re currently moving in. A waiter that wasn’t even assigned to our table saw us taking photos and asked if we wanted a photo, purely as a courtesy and he even got multiple angles. Our waiter was kind and attentive and the food was out very fast. Overall 10/10 experience :)
Best sushi and hibachi place in the Kendall area hands down! The family that owns the restaurant is so nice and down to earth. Great place and great people. They also do party platters that are fresh and tasty!! Call it in at least 24 in advance. Comes beautifully packaged and it feeds a crowd.
We love Ruson! best sushi place in Kendall area. The service awesome and food taste delicious
We have come here a couple times but this time was GREAT because of our server chris ! He was the sweetest server ever and made the experience even better, and the food was delicious!
Food is great, the service is wonderful, I come almost every week and I never get tired of this amazing place!
We did the hibachi grill dinning and the food and service were both great. With a large group of 6, I called ahead to make sure they could accommodate and Jimmy was very helpful in getting us in at the desired time. We arrived right on time and were able to go directly to the table. We tried a few different sushi rolls and each one was fresh and yummy! Expect to spend about $30/pp without beverages or sushi/appraisers at the hibachi table. This was a perfect spot to end our day.
Great restaurant. Feels like a mom and mom and pop shop. All the food is good. Sushi sashimi steak soup. Great family experience
As I always make sure to say is that my posts are based on "personal experiences " and "personal opinions/tastes". That being said, I was craving sushi and was recommended to try Ruson. "WOW" GOD BLESS the person who recommended Ruson, the owners, employees and Especially the hands that prepared my meal!!! I ordered the Melting, Lobster tail and I Love Lucy rolls "WOW" Everything was DELICIOUS!!! This was my first time ordering from them and the WHOLE experience was PHENOMENAL!!! I ordered for pickup, I was told 20 minutes and 20 mins later I showed up and my food was ready. I got home and my meal looked AMAZING and tasted even BETTER!!! Did I say "WOW" ? I definitely recommend and I will be back again!!! But this time I'll try to see if their service at the restaurant is as EXCELLENT as well . Thank you all.
Excellent hibachi. Great food. Fast service and good attention.
I love this hibachi. Their happy sauce is the best sauce. The steak melts in your mouth, the shrimp delicious, same got the chicken. All their meats are high quality and taste great. We've been coming here for over a decade now. It's one of our favorite spots in the city!
Amazing food I come here all the time. William was the absolute sweetest most amazing server. We really enjoyed him as our server absolutely amazing.
I loved the Hibachi lunch. I went with 14 family members and we all loved it. The cook was amazing. The food was divine. Such a hidden gem. I would love to come back the next time I'm in the area. It's a definite must for my family and I.
Went to Ruson last night for the first time for a quiet celebration. I asked for a table away from others and was accommodated. Our server was friendly, helpful and spot on. The food was amazing. We had the shrimp volcano and the tuna tataki and they were perfect! For our special desert, the fried cheese cake and ice cream with 2 spoons. Highly recommend this place. We'll be back soon. Thank you Ruson.
This is probably my favorite restaurant for Sushi in Kendall. I've gone here for years, All their items are tasty and great quality. Plating for some dishes leave something to be desired aesthetically but taste is phenomenal. I definitely recommend the Lobster Roll and their Volcano/Dynamite Rolls are the best in MIA. The atmosphere is also pleasant and staff is very nice. I love their Fish Tank. So full of exotic species.
Amazing! Our hibachi chef was super interactive, professional, and his cooking skills were top notch! Very clean and the staff was on top of everything. Can't wait to go back and try out the sushi menu!
Three years ago, I left a negative review mainly because the infrastructure at Ruson Japanese was terribly old, worn out, and frankly unpleasant. However, I returned recently and was surprised to see that they’ve done a complete renovation. The place now feels clean, fresh, and much more inviting. The improvements in hygiene and atmosphere are very noticeable and deserve recognition. The food is still solid, with generous portions and good quality for the price. I’m happy to update my rating to reflect this positive change. Well done to the owners for finally investing in the restaurant and bringing it up to a much better standard.
It is a little pricey but expected at a place like that. The people were very friendly and when they found out one of us had a birthday they turned on moving lights and a birthday song and gave her a choice of cake or ice cream and it was all at no charge. Great place to eat. The food was great.
First time experience here and we sat for Hibachi. A family of five, one being on the Autism spectrum. We had a lively and hilarious Hibachi chef. The food was delicious. All of the servers were friendly, helpful, and without even mentioning my son being autistic, they were very comforting and accepting. We will definitely return in the future. It's worth the price for us. They also offer a military discount, so we are very grateful for that as well. Thank you!
This place was amazing. The drinks, food, and people were great. To the people complaining about the price, it is worth it. The food is fresh and delicious. Today, I tried the chicken and shrimp hibachi, it was AMAZING!!! The lemonade, bang bang shrimp, and steamed dumplings were so so so good!!! You must try it! I am definitely coming again.
Ruson Japanese Steakhouse in Kendall is an absolute favorite of mine! Every visit is a great experience, from the moment you walk in to the last bite. The service is always wonderful—friendly, attentive, and you can tell the staff genuinely cares about creating a great dining experience. The sushi options are fantastic—fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re into classic rolls or more creative specialty rolls, there’s something for everyone. I’ve never had a bad bite here, and the quality is always consistent. The hibachi side is also a fun treat, but I keep coming back for the sushi and the welcoming atmosphere. Ruson is perfect for a date night, family dinner, or just treating yourself to something delicious. If you’re in the Kendall area and love sushi and great service, Ruson is a must-visit!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ruson Japanese Restaurant, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our server, Lexi, was fabulous—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Lexi recommended the Kamikaze roll, and it was absolutely delicious beyond words! The flavors were perfectly balanced, and each bite was a delight. I highly recommend giving it a try. Overall, the combination of excellent service and mouth-watering food makes Ruson Japanese Restaurant a must-visit. We'll definitely be back soon!
My first time there, and I was very happy with the food and service. It's not a crazy big menu, a nice atmosphere, and a sense that the staff was familiar with their customers. Will definitely make it my place to go for sushi....did not try the hibachi table, but it looked like the people were having fun 😋
Great for special occasions or a casual Friday night. Enjoying for both for more than 17 years.
amazing food!!! ask for Joe he’s the best :)))
Gladys was an incredible and attentive server!! First time here and we had a great experience. Our chef has been cooking for 28 years, he was funny and witty. Best hibachi ever highly recommended!!!!
This place is a 10/10. The food, service and atmosphere is AMAZING. Our server, Gladys was fantastic 💫
My wife and i have been dining at Ruson for years. This place is amazing! The sushi is top quality and very fresh. I recommend this restaurant to anybody that wants a great dining esoteric l experience with perfect service!
Can't say enough good things about Ruson! Been coming here for years and never been disappointed! They treat you like family. Food is always amazing.
i come here very often with my mom or boyfriend the servers are always super nice and we always love our food 😊😊
I been coming here for the last 18 years and the food is first class! Favorite Appetizers: edamame, Sashimi Favorite sushi : Yabaha Roll, Jb roll Teppanyaki : everything is good The food is always good and the ambiance is very pleasant and the service is 5 Starts all the guys are great.
We have been eating here for more than 10 years. The Pad Thai is my favorite. The sushi is so good too! You will not be disappointed
We are not from this area and we stop to eat is our first time trying this restaurant food is amazing staff very welcoming I would 100% recommend this place I loved it 😊
I have been coming here with my family for years and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The staff is always friendly and the food is always phenomenal and delicious. Whether we choose to dine in or order takeout, the experience and food is always a 10/10!
I have been coming to Ruson for 3 years now, quality is always great, service attentive and food delicious. I love the boba tea and the sushi. Definitely recommended
Wow!!!! Great food and the best service. Our waitress Gladys was amazing! Thank you wish more restaurant had such great services. In the name of all my family we thank you Gladys!
Always a fantastic experience! This has to be the best hidden gem in Kendall — and honestly, one of the best in all of Miami. The staff is kind, the food is superb, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. We’ve been coming here for many years, and it’s consistently top-notch. Always a hit! Can’t rave enough about this place. One of my favorite restaurants!
Best pho I've ever had! The service was excellent, staff was friendly. The atmosphere is very inviting. I definitely recommend coming here.
Good for the most part never great. The quality of the fish and roll portions are good. The tempura is ok not great. Not a big fan of hibachi so can't comment. The fried rice only tastes like garlic butter and is depressing to look at. Also its 16 bucks for rice, oil and boiled chicken. Thai food is very inconsistent and usually not great either. Inside the restaurant is stuffy and has not been renovated in 15 years at least.
Will was a great server! The service he gave to me and my family was a welcoming experience to the restaurant. The food on the other hand was not great its not that authentic.
I love this place so much and have been coming here for over 20 years but usually sit to eat at the restaurant and rarely do i order take out. Since i was at my parent's and it's difficult for my mom to go out i decided to order take out. I've always ordered sushi but my dad loves the soups from here so decided to get him a Tom Kha seafood soup & just arrived home and it's a tiny portion (like appetizer portion). He usually eats this soup at the restaurant and it's a large bowl. Maybe the online menu only has this small portion but i didn't see any mention of the size (something i would have definitely checked with the staff if i had been able to place the order over the phone). The soup was 14.95 which is crazy to me for the size. This is why i like placing my orders by phone & I usually order by phone but tonight the phone was offline so ended up ordering online. I'm very disappointed but will still give them a good rating because I love this place. The food is good and consistent & their service is always great. However be careful ordering online & be aware of the extra charge they tack on for online orders. Something they don't charge if you call but again, they weren't answering they phone.
Food is good but very expensive for the restaurant. It’s not fancy or 5 star by any means. The kids do enjoy the show
Last minute dinner decision before heading to the hotel. It was Friday night and the place was busy. Service was good. The chirashi plate was very good with fresh fish selections and even fresher wasabi. The place looks outdated and the tepanyaki smell was strong but the prices, quality of food, and service made up for it.
It was ok. Would not go again. Not the type of hibachi/tappenyaki place or portions. Hefner was great ND service was great. But the food was not impressive. Prices are high. gratuity is added to the bill. Lots of choices on the menu though. Maybe go there to try that.
We dined here after hearing about their duck. Seated quickly and waiter was pleasant & attentive. Ginger salad was good but was swimming in dressing. The wonton soup here is homemade & the best I ever had. Huge bowl. My wife had the crispy duck and it was very good. I had Thai chicken with vegetables in brown sauce which was good but a little salty. The portion was easily enough for 2 people. The fried rice was good and also a huge portion. Overall a good meal but our main complaint was the table surface seemed sticky and needed a deep cleaning. Restaurants think a quick swipe with cleaner is sufficient but they would be surprised how much buildup of grease & grime is present especially with sweet sauce foods served here.
We had not been to Ruson for several years, and on a Sunday afternoon we decided to give it a try. I was expectant of eating a delicious meal but that was far from becoming a reality. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki and wished I hadn’t. The dish itself looked colorful but when I started to eat, the chicken was hard, dry, and stale. The chicken tasted like it had been cooked and left there for hours and then at the time of preparing the dish, it was added to the peppers and sauce. With all of the restaurants near my home, this is not one I’ll be going back to.
I came here months ago. Usually when you visit a place, you post a review right after. But their $11 boba to this day still bothers me.. It’s become an inside joke with my roommates.. who charges $11 for boba? And the fact that the price is not even listed on their menu? Their food was okay but I’m making this review solely on my frustration of the $11 boba. Please don’t get their $11 boba.. Say tea and smile is nearby and way cheaper and better than $11 boba.
We always buy sushi and special rice from Ruson and is always great. Today we order the usual, the I love Lucy roll was with so much rice, they didn’t put any spicy mayo in the order and the special fried rice barely had any chicken or beef, it was all rice, all you could see was rice. NOT HAPPY 👎🏼
The salad was horrible semi frozen watery and the core of the lettuce the chicken/special fried rice was tasteless not fresh I’m very disappointed 😡
The food was good and the chef was nice. However, My son and I ordered a lemonade to drink, which was actually crystal light or something similar. The lady who took my order for the lemonade repeated several times , "freshly squeezed". When I got the bill they charged $7.95 each lemonade which is ridiculous and totally shiesty. Especially because it was not freshly squeezed. When I spoke to the manager she could have cared less, she knew she got a great scam going Especially because gratuity is included.
The restaurant looks very nice & authentic however the sushi was very below average. Their tempura tasted old & bland. We even ordered basic sushi rolls and the quality of the fish seemed the same as a grocery store's. The staff was very below average. Both server's didn't seem like they knew what they were doing, maybe they were new hires.
Longstanding Japanese hibachi steakhouse. Owner is very attentive. Hibachi food quality has been mastered. Consistent. HOWEVER, hibachi cook that runs around with a squeaky plastic duck needs to get a lesson in situational awareness and cultural sensitivity. I'm no woke but this Filipino was making fun of Cuban culture and idiom from the lowest classes of Cuban society. He was pretending to be "Cuban" in an obvious mocking way. He engaged my 85 yr old father and suggested he has "women on the side" a "player" while my mother, his wife sat next to Him. It quickly became awkward and this man would not stop. He constantly called my mother an 80 year old woman Mami. Not as in mother but in a more disrespectful tone. Mami this Mami that. After asking my wife about food choice he said "Thank you señorita or is it señora." with just a plain weird and ackward delivery. If you are familiar with Spanish language you know SEÑORA is for a Married woman usually with children and SEÑORITA is for an unmarried Virgin. I mean it was incredibly awkward and embarrassing doe all at the table. As this guy though he was being funny. He starts by mocking Cuban culture, and ends by disrespecting those at the table. We were there for a family meal. We are Traditional Roman Catholics and do not play those games. This man needs to be re-trained on table manners and how to treat customers. Especially an older conservative family with children. I know Filipinos and they would know how to act. They would know this behavior is wrong and they wouldn't engage in it. This was a very disappointing visit. We were stunned as we walked out. Couldn't believe that lack of situational awareness this man had. Needless to say we will not be coming back anytime soon. We hope this man doesn't lose his job. The food was good. Tasty. Although he was not focused on the presentation as it wasn't as sharp and consistent with "the show" as it normally is. It seemed it was an afterthoughts as he was OBSESSED with Making himself the center of attention thru his poor comedy act instead of making the Hibachi cooking experience the center of attention which is in fact what we came for. And instead we were uncomfortable and very disturbed at the very rude and disrespectful way he treated us. Nobody likes to have his culture and his dignity mocked especially in front of their family. My 85 year old dad was visibly angry when this man kept insinuating he had a "side girlfriend" or that somehow he was a "player." He was trying to be funny but that's not funny. Maybe to high-school boys in a locker room but not at a family meal. I engaged him firmly and challenged him on how he mocked Cuban speak. Reminded him that was the poor and uneducated and we didnt speak that way. he then realized we were not appreciating his very improper antics. That he ruined our family meal. What a disaster. On a side note the regular wait staff was subpar. They used to be better. Our young waiter would disappear and it made it difficult to keep our water and other needs filled. But nowadays it seems good wait staff is hard to find and maintain. So this would not have been a big deal. Also, the owner was extremely attentive on arrival and exit. I don't think he realized what was happening and we didn't complain as I didn't want to make the meal even more of a disaster. We figured we push thru and hope this chef would leave as soon as possible so we could enjoy our meal. Too bad as this restaurant has been consistent over many years. But one badly trained employee can tarnish the reputation beyond repair.
Worst place ever. My sushi wash frozen. The tempora sweet potatoes were cold and so soggy with oil we sent it back. The soup tasted from a can. The show was horrible the guy acted like we was scared. The only seasoning he put in the food was butter and soy sauce. O and its way way over priced. And be careful they add the tip to your bill and don't tell you anything.
The food was average , I ate during lunch time on the restaurant side of Ruson. With the food being average is 3 star at most , however the waiter and the manager’s lack of customer service and the inefficiency of their roles brings it down to 1 star. Not only is the price of Soda Pop 4x the price of a Soda Pop in Asian supermarkets around the area. We were expecting it to be prices how it normally is and we asked kindly if they have Ramune soda and the waiter said yes and thats all , charged us without informing how you supposed to do your job. Unfortunately this led to an unwanted discussion with the manager that lacks all social skills in regard with clientele. We did not say anything mean towards her and she proceeded with “You should have read the menu” and stormed off , not only was this our first time , we received the menus 10 minutes after our arrival and was told nothing about whats in the menus which us asking about the ramune was before this. Only go to this place for Hibachi and at night were the workers are most likely better than the ones we have received.
This place is very mediocre. It's very expensive for basic Japanese food! Habachi combination plates were all Al-acart which made every super expensive for no reason. I personally wouldn't be going back here again for sure. Plenty of other restaurants around the area I'd rather spend $160 on. The $160 was just for 2 people btw! Never again🤦♂️🤦♂️
Place isn’t good and over priced 2 people and $140 buck for shit food… wow never again then had no issue no discounting it smh what a rip off
Sorry I need to vent but my wife and I went there for dinner tonight. The fried calamari was one of the worst I ever had. The calamari had zero taste and was chewy and rubbery. Even the side sauce did not improve the taste. On to dinner my wife had the chicken teriyaki and I had chicken pad Thai. Her chicken was dry and the teriyaki sauce was not the real thing. My chicken was tasteless and dry. I never use soy sauce but I had to add that because I was so hungry. $90 for a terrible experience. This place used to be very good but the prices increased and the quality has suffered. Sorry to say but good bye Ruson.
