I discovered this charming new café that’s perfect for both book lovers and remote workers. With plenty of seating and a cozy workspace, it's an ideal spot to settle in with a good read or get some work done. I stopped by for brunch, and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Though they've only been open for a month, the warmth and friendliness of the staff make it feel like they've been part of the community for years. If you're looking for a new hangout, give this place a try! They're also on the lookout for local musicians, so it’s a great opportunity to support a fresh, local business and maybe even catch some live music in the near future. Let’s help this gem thrive!

This charming spot is half cozy Italian restaurant and half independent bookstore, creating an atmosphere that’s both intellectually stimulating and warmly inviting. The Sicilian shrimp carpaccio (Carpaccio di gambero) was exquisitely fresh, pairing perfectly with the aromatic fennel and oranges. The Eggplant flan (Flan di melanzane) was a delightful surprise, with its creamy texture and rich flavor. The pasta dishes, particularly the Linguine alle vongole and the Gigli con ceci e gamberi, were cooked to perfection, offering authentic tastes of Italy. To complement the meal, the Green Citrus Iced Tea was refreshingly crisp, and the classic Tiramisu provided a sweet, satisfying conclusion. Not to forget the excellent Mimosa and robust Cappuccino that were the cherries on top of a fantastic dining experience. Sullaluna is more than just a place to eat; it’s a haven where you can relax. Whether you’re a bookworm, a foodie, or just in search of a pleasant spot to unwind, Sullaluna is an absolute must-visit.

I had an amazing dinner with friends here. Every dish felt like it had its own special twist to it. The ambiance was wonderful and relaxed, it was the perfect place to catch up with friends over dinner and wine. The portions are on the smaller side so I'd recommend ordering more than you'd think. Some stand outs: - Cestino di Focaccia - Cavolo Arrosto - Cavoletti di Bruxelles - Cavatelli al Pomodoro - Ravioli Ricotta e Porri

My fiancé and I were in town for a long weekend and came across Sullaluna when looking for somewhere that made cornetti. This restaurant is fantastic - very cute concept with the bookstore element, works well as a cafe and as a proper restaurant. Their coffees and matcha were good quality and well made - they make a true short espresso - and their food is delicious. We had both cornetti (the one with marmalade and the one with hazelnut chocolate cream) and then came back on Sunday for brunch and had the pancake with egg and guanciale as well as the cavatelli. The pancake was not too sweet and went perfectly with the guanciale, and the cavatelli were freshly made and perfectly cooked. The service was impeccable also. The staff are all actually Italian and were very welcoming. Highly recommend.

Sullaluna was the perfect venue for my unconventional event (half author talk half discussion group). I’d been searching for a while for a reasonably priced location (w good drinks and food) to host my Sad Rich Girl Salon and I'm so happy I found Sullaluna! I was lucky to work with Giulia, who helped me come up with a ticketing plan that made it essentially free for me to host my salon. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful, which ensured that my attendees had a great time. The ground-floor space was perfect for my needs: it seated about 26 people (with room for roughly 15 more standing and a coat rack, which is so necessary in the winter). Sullaluna regularly hosts literary events so it’s a very well-oiled machine. There were wireless mics available (which I didn’t end up needing), and the children’s books on display gave the space a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. It was intimate and the acoustics were good-- we couldn't hear the upstairs restaurant noise and as far as I know they couldn't hear us either :) I especially appreciated that this was a private space. Many bookstores I was considering keep their bars open during events, which creates a lot of background noise and chatter. But at Sullaluna it was quiet and I didn’t have to compete with random patrons to be heard. Giulia was so accommodating, even helping me with drink tokens for my attendees, and I absolutely hope to host another event here in the future. (I’ve also been here for lunch before—the food is wonderful!)

Super cute children’s book store/restaurant! Very cozy atmosphere, perfect for dinner or a glass of wine at the bar. Nice selection of wines and loved the Vitelli tonnato. Would definitely go back to try more of the menu.

Absolutely loved this place! A perfect hidden gem in NY for a romantic date night or a cozy dinner with friends. The bookstore-bistro concept is truly unique and gives the space a warm, inspiring vibe. The seasonal menu changes often and focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients. It’s not too long – which I actually see as a big plus – carefully curated and easy to navigate, with every dish prepared with real attention. The wine list is well selected, the staff is kind and welcoming, and the whole experience feels genuine and relaxed. Whether you’re into books, food, or just looking for a stylish and intimate restaurant in NY, this is definitely the spot.

Sullaluna is a duplicate paradise: bookstore and restaurant, specialized in Italian narratives and books for children in many languages. While eating it is possible to enjoy reading in a cozy warm place. The music is also a perk! 💙

Cute spot to take a break and read / get some work done. The staff was really friendly and did not rush me, small but good selection of savory and sweet bites (got the white bean soup which was surprisingly quite tasty, and the ricotta cake with orange blossom which was delicious), the soft jazz music along with the bright and aesthetic interior made for the perfect backdrop. Only thing I’d note is the prices are relatively high for some menu items. But otherwise highly recommend!

As an Italian expat in NYC (from Rome), this place really feels like home. First and foremost, the new Chef revolutionized their menu, and the dishes are not only authentic, but also delicious and with a touch of culinary art in both the presentation and play of Italian taste. I definitely recommend the parmigiana di melanzane - the best I had so far (and I am from Rome). I also highly recommend the Vitel Tonne (photo attached) - it's absolutely stunning! Their selection of Italian wines is also amazing. The atmosphere is beautiful, and their mixed-bookstore concept is innovative - watch out for their book presentation events! I went to several, and met many beautiful humans. Nota per gli Italiani/italiane a NYC: passateci, vale la pena. Lo Chef e' pazzesco, e il concetto di per se e' fantastico.

This restaurant is a must-go. The intimate layout and the children’s books lining the walls create a cozy setting, and the staff are all wonderful and attentive. The menu is rotating, but every single thing I’ve eaten here has been incredible and authentic. Some noteworthy highlights are the brussel sprouts, the maritozzo, the pasta al limone, and the bolognese. And if you’re there for breakfast, get a cornetto fresh from the oven!

I celebrated my birthday at Sullaluna and everything was beyond expectation. The table was beautifully set up, planning and service was beyond great, and the food was delicious. I booked a large table at the dining room and Giulia surprised me with a table at the beautiful space downstairs! I could not have chosen a better place to celebrate my birthday and highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to celebrate or just looking for a great cozy Italian spot with delicious food and amazing service. I will be back soon!

I had dinner here last night and it was such a lovely experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that truly capture the essence of Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is a standout — a stylish yet relaxed Italian lounge vibe that makes it perfect for both a date night or a dinner with friends. The staff were kind, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived without ever being intrusive. ⭐ Highly recommended if you’re looking for a beautiful spot with great food and a warm ambiance for a special evening.

A lovely hidden gem in the West Village! I've been a few times now, and the food and ambiance has yet to disappoint. Most recently, I celebrated my birthday here, and I was blown away by the warmth and kindness of the staff. If you are a lover of books, wine, or great food, this is the place for you! Will certainly be back.

We hosted a small baby shower and Sullaluna could not have been a more perfect venue—the ambience, service and food were all exceptional. Planning and set-up were easy, the servers were incredibly attentive and flexible, the food - salads, apps, pasta dishes and olive oil cake - was enjoyed by all in an absolutely charming setting! Enjoyed brunch there the week before and we will be back for more delicious meals in this warm, welcoming spot.

Interesting menu, with some unique options like artichoke flan. I enjoyed the variety and the flavors, as well as the fresh ingredients. The bread in the sandwich had an excellent crisp, but the sandwich itself wasn't remarkable. The space is crammed, and we, two thin people, could barely fit in our chairs without bumping into other tables and furniture.

We went for brunch over the weekend. We did not have to wait for too long. The place is really nice and cozy. The service was great. Everything we ordered was very good. Their options are limited but they change the menu every now and then. My only comment is that the portions are small. Not gourmet-restaurant small but smaller than I expected based on price and other Italian restaurants I have been to.

Really cute and peaceful restaurant with a children book section. Vegetarian menu with a little seafood options. We went on a weekday for late lunch, so items were unavailable. Portion was middle size. 🍫🥐❤️Croissant with hazelnut chocolate paste and ice cream was really delicious. Rich option for a guilty afternoon or brunch time. 🥛☕️✨cappuccino was outstanding too. Creamy with nice flavor on a bitter side. Mushroom creamy pasta was good, average choice.

Came here for a solo lunch as a native Italian living in NYC. It was during the week, so it wasn’t very busy. The atmosphere is charming, books on the walls, cozy decor and my server was wonderful. The owners were having a meeting near my table and they seemed professional and caring. The menu initially impressed me. I like a smaller, focused menu because it usually means the dishes are made with care, and I appreciated seeing a thoughtful wine selection. The lambrusco I ordered was delicious. As for the food, I ordered the parmigiana, which was listed as a “secondo.” The flavor was nice, though slightly overcooked in places (some people love that “bruciacchiato” taste), nothing that would have made me send it back. My main issue was with the portion size. As an Italian, I was surprised by how small it was, more the size of an antipasto. At $27, it felt a bit disproportionate for what was served. New York City has many Italians, myself included, who love to find places that remind us of home. With a slightly more generous portion, I think this dish could truly shine and feel worth the price. I hope this feedback is helpful because the atmosphere and service are lovely, and there’s a lot of potential here. In bocca al lupo!

K

Cute concept and nice interiors, but falls short in a few aspects. Food was mediocre, and the dinner menu was a bit pricey for what it is. The gnocchi was basic & passable, though portion size was small, and you could easily find far better gnocchi probably within a 10 minute walk radius. The tiramisu was just ok, a little lacking in flavours, and a little small considering the price. The server I had was fairly listless and didn't quite fit the vibe the place was going for. The interiors are nice with the book themed decor, pretty cozy in the evening, but considering the competition and no lack of well-designed Italian bistros in nyc, there are better options in the city that have better food and welcoming service. Wouldn't necessarily recommend going out of your way for this one.

Sullaluna is part bookstore, part wine and cheese bar, with shelves of beautifully illustrated kids' books tucked all around that make it feel super cozy and welcoming to browse. I recently stopped in for a quick catch up with a friend before dinner. We shared the Charcuterie and Cheese Board and the Mint Herbal Infusion tea, which fit the setting, but the actual cheeses and meats were not quite my usual type. There was a bit of gaminess in the selections that my palate just did not love. I'd still come back just for the ambience though, and I do want to try the Guancia di Manzo.
